6 CL9 Accord Modifications for BIG Performance Gains

  • Today I tell you the 6 CL9 Accord Euro modifications that I would recommend doing to your car to get the biggest performance gains.
    Sure there will always be more than you could do, but if you want to modify one of these on a budget and get the biggest gains, this is what I'd recommend.
    1: Reflash
    Get a reflash in New Zealand by hitting up @kflash_nz on instagram
    / kflash_nz
    2: Headers
    Lots of brands make headers for the Accord/TSX. I have PLM headers:
    www.speedscience.co.nz/produc...
    3: Wheels and Tires
    Pick whatever wheel and tire combo you like. I'd recommend going with a 17 or 18" wheel to keep the weight down. I have 18x7.5 +48 Sparco DS1's and 225/45R18 Bridgestone Potenza RE003's
    4: Lowering Springs/Coilovers
    Get the Tein S-Tech lowering springs I have here:
    www.speedscience.co.nz/produc...
    5: Sway Bar
    Here's one that I thought looked decent:
    www.speedscience.co.nz/collec...
    6: Type R Gearset/Gearbox
    Type R parts are hard to come by. But digging around on EU and JDM auction sites can prove fruitful, otherwise ask around on forums, there's bound to be a Honda guru with one lying around.
    7: Intake Manifold
    I've since discovered that an intake manifold makes a massive difference too. Here's one I'd recommend for cheap:

      I will get those rims mainly for winter for now. I like how they look. Much nicer looking what I have now. Old rims are so ugly and heavy. 😀Was kinda shocked how different steering felt after having nice stock euro 17' wheels for summer.
      Here in Finland its so icy and snowy so I think 17' are better and more comfortable. Also cheaper winter tires.

    Ok, trying to get my head around the model designations...you’ve got a ‘type S’. Is that different to the OzDM accord euro? Looking over wiki I see that the Oz cars got the k24a3, same as the NZdm cars. Is it just the badging? The yanks got the k24a2 in the Accura TSX. Think I’m going to have check out more details.

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  2 роки тому +1

      I just call it a type s coz it's universally recognised as a k24 accord euro.
      It's actually a " Honda Accord Euro S Sport Manual". With accord euro being the model, S denoting cloth interior (vs L denoting leather, sport meaning it has the body kit and manual obviously denoting the transmission. That should give you an idea of all the nz models

    • @markmcgrath9098
      @markmcgrath9098 2 роки тому +1

      @@KiwiCarLife thanks mate, been enjoying your comparo of the type r vs type s.
      We got cloth interior versions and Luxury versions with poxy plastic wood and leather seats. Same engines and gearboxes. Way more autos sold than manuals.
      I’ve been looking at importing a type s but for price difference it seems like you could take a local car most of the way toward a similar performance base like you’ve done. Gotta say, I really think the off-vtec gutless response of the k20 would piss me off in a daily driver.

Cant find a turbo charged or supercharged that isnt in a museum or priced to the sky, even NA engines like cl9 2.4 are hard to find in europe, only found toyota corolla ix tsport, but for some reason both of these cars are almost extinct on my country. I want to get a 2005-2008 cl9 luxury automatic 140kw stock. You reckon I can take it up to 160kw? If so, how much you reckon it’ll cost me. Would it be worth the money?
    Thanks!

    • @KiwiCarLife

      Reflash, headers, cold air intake and you'll be there I reckon. Auto box should be able to handle that all good. Truth be told these cars aren't really designed to be rockets, but if you do those above mods it'll probably cost you about $1500 and you'll have a very fun high revving great sounding car to drive!

      Not necessarily, however I opted to. If you still wanted a cat you could get a small 100/200 cell one and fit it where the test pipe goes
