🎉 I’m trying to get a daily first car CL7 and debating if I should get a 145k km vs 100k km mileage car in which the 100k km mileage car cost $30k HKD more . Not sure if I should stick to the high mileage one as it will depreciate less anyways and not worth it for the added money for 45k km more mileage. What do you think? The 100k of course looks better with some mugen parts and 145k has a Js racing exhaust.
That typeS sounds and looks insane And you can tell in the video that response when you floor it, it just goes Since yours is not a daily driver you don’t really get bothered by dealing with the gauge pedal every time Glad To see an auto slightly moded and being able to compete with yours I wonder how an original Euro R moded as you did would compare
Yeah a Euro R would probably give mine a run too. They have less overhead tho, so where with the same mods a K24 might gain 25kW and 50Nm, a Euro R might only gain 10kW and 20Nm
@@KiwiCarLife thanks for the advice. Made a decision today to buy a silver CL9 manual. Hopefully the car will come next week or early after next. Can't wait to drive this CL9. Thank you.
How would you say the electric power steering of the JDM Type S and Euro R compare to that in the CU2? And would you still rate the CU2 over the CL9 if looking for an auto?
Frankly I actually think the cu2 steering is quite good. And yeah if you want a “nicer” car then go for an nz new cu2. A tidy import auto cl9 tho is still a great drivers car. I dunno… drive them all and decide for yourself
No, they are not the same engine. The facelift JDM Accord and the 06-08 TSX's K24A2 have bigger cams (biggest OEM K series), intake ports, intake manifold and exhaust ports etc so that is what compensates for it was auto.
6th gen ATR /euro R was the beat in my opinion, lighter, stiffer, and that LSD h22a/7 combo. Also SiR wagons are awesome looking and AWD and AWD is what is missing on euro/USA spec accords.
@@KiwiCarLife I've said the same when I sold my VI gen, wish I never did. But AWD is misteriously missing from accords everywhere but not Japan. Vi gen JDM had AWD, vii gen had it also. AWD would change the way look at this car.

I want your help. How is the CL7 compared to CL9? CL7 comes with an “economy” K20 with the economy i-VTEC obviously. I’m not looking forward to high horsepower builds, want to stay NA with decent torque/horsepower for daily driving fun. Moreover, it’s auto. 😛 So is it worth it? Car’s in immaculate condition though with low mileage.
I wouldn't recommend the K20 one if you're looking to do any mods. They don't have as much potential as the K24 and the fuel economy differences are negligible
Nice one, back in the day of CD6 Accord SIR there was a massive difference in performance between auto and manual, mostly due to the auto being 4 speed and terribly slow at shifting, tcu tuning is a game changer. I just tcu tuned my bmw 116i, it did 0 to 100 in 6.29 with slow ish shifts and changing gear at too low rpm, so maybe I'll get into the 5s, vid on my channel as I know it's hard to believe a 116i doing that lol
I got really confused, why would the jdm cars have EPS being put in, especially with the type s (sport trim) version. How can one check if a particular car has a hydraulic or electric steering, because I'm wondering about the european market ones with the auto transmission, thanks.
You'll see the power steering pump in the bottom left corner of the engine bay. I've been told it's because some of them came with adaptive cruise and lane keep assist so would need a means to control the steering electronically
@@KiwiCarLife Yep, found some similar information, that if the car has LKAS , it definetely will have EPS, but funny thing is I've took a look at a 2006 sedane as well as touring versions original brochures. The sedane one says that it uses PAS acrros the range, except for the 2.0 base version, the touring one says it uses PAS except for the top trim with the LKAS. So I guess the only way to find out is to see what's going on under the hood. Btw, what does the EPS system uses, some kind of motor?
If you compare auto cars of Toyota/honda same era sports sedan/hatch class the honda ratios for the auto seem to stick way closer to the ratios of the manual while toyotas ones are way too long hurting their 0-100 times and outright performance
What does a clean cl9 auto go for? What is apropiate price...There a dealership here in. New plymouth that has one for $13k fresh import 4.5 car is immaculate
Now, I am a bit lost. How come the Euro with 2.4 engine? Supposed to be 2.0, isn't it? There should be 2.0, 2.4 and Euro R 2.0 (in JDM - which is about 200hp) and Euro AU, NZ and Fiji? I have a 2003 2.4 executive auto which is 140kw/189hp but I'm in Europe. To me somehow engine doesn't add up 😂😅
Really? What's the point to do a rolling race to compare manual vs automatic and then start In 2 in the A and 3 in the M to compensate the difference? Precisely the difference is there... I just don't believe your Accord is faster than a 250hp one just because a little short gear and then an automatic with same power is just equally fast?
I was more trying to demonstrate the fact that the auto doesn't lose much power through the transmission, and because mine has shorter gears so for other manual owners it wouldn't be as helpful

There is no way those 2 will be near in performance, is either you didn't test it correctly or the auto has more power, if similar power the manual one should have destroyed the auto. The auto has more power loss in the transmission and very long gears. You most probably tested them for very narrow power band (only 2-3 gears and stopped), it can be seen on your video when auto was in 2nd and you in 3rd that you recover the gap but you stopped the test. I bet you could have catch up and passed him.
Yes this. The auto is k24a2 and his is k24a3 which is less power. Idk though I own an auto. I'm guessing its alot of factors like the throttle response in the manual. It's cool to see I might have to get the kflash now. 4k vtec sounds nice especially with the long gears. I already have hondata reflash but I'll dyno these two different reflash tunes for sure.
There was a combination of factors, he has the a2, I have the a3, he started in vtec because his tune puts it at 4k whereas I started out of vtec because mine is set at 4.8k, and his 2nd is slightly shorter than my 3rd. But all in all, if we both started in 2nd I would have walked, but what's the point? Ofc you would expect that to happen. This really highlighted that the auto doesn't really lose much power through the transmission at all

@@KiwiCarLife need to find out how to make the auto trans handle more rpms reliably... I'm already looking into a level 10 torque converter but still need to find out more as there's not much info around on them, there must be a way to modify the box to make it handle higher rpms
@@08CL9 do you have any socials? Insta/UA-cam where I could see the progress of your Type S? I got the same Spec 06 Type S from JDM fully stock. Wanna learn some from you
Sorry, no socials or channels to follow unfortunately.
Auto for me, I'm surprised at the little acceleration difference. If you hadn't changed your transmission gears to the type r he would have definitely caught you if not surpassed.
Nah because then I would have started in second instead of third. Only reason he pulled in the first race is because I started out of vtec. 2nd race I was in vtec and pulled
Does all K-Series automatic gearboxes have the same gearings? Or is there any automatic gearbox with shorter gearings (that would fit in a Accord CL9, K24), that would be more suitable for a track car?
Yes they do have the same gearing but maybe a different final drive
I've raced my lightly modified auto against an unknown modified manual. CL9s. Manual pulls.
Yeah and so it should... I gave the auto an advantage by starting one gear higher. If I started in 2nd like the auto I would have walked. But I reckon a close race is a good race
@@KiwiCarLife Gotta see a race from 0!

With the crazy prices of fuel can you do a review of what its like driving a stock CL9 with E10, unleaded 91(if that's even possible) , unleaded premium 95 (recommended fuel) and unleaded premium 98.
Recommended using a car that the owners already using E10 with or willing to try it out.
Uhh yeah maybe? And what compare performance or fuel economy?
Great video👍 Could you tell what modifications have been made to the automatic transmission please?
Tuned by kflash, changes shift points and improves shift speed
@@KiwiCarLife Thanks👌
@@KiwiCarLife I’m going for that
the video we wanted!!! Do all automatic cl9 have electric steering?
No
Just the facelift type s I've been lead to believe. Nz new ones are all hydraulic
Yeah I’d say go for the higher k’s one coz the price difference is so significant
That typeS sounds and looks insane
And you can tell in the video that response when you floor it, it just goes
Since yours is not a daily driver you don’t really get bothered by dealing with the gauge pedal every time
Glad To see an auto slightly moded and being able to compete with yours
I wonder how an original Euro R moded as you did would compare
Yeah a Euro R would probably give mine a run too. They have less overhead tho, so where with the same mods a K24 might gain 25kW and 50Nm, a Euro R might only gain 10kW and 20Nm
After watching so nany videos, I still not sure which gen to get, CL9 or CU2, but will definitely get a manual.
CL9 if you want a performance car, CU2 if you want a nicer daily
We're talking about an 8kw difference here. For all intents and purposes they are the same
6th gen ATR /euro R was the beat in my opinion, lighter, stiffer, and that LSD h22a/7 combo. Also SiR wagons are awesome looking and AWD and AWD is what is missing on euro/USA spec accords.
To old for me
@@KiwiCarLife I've said the same when I sold my VI gen, wish I never did. But AWD is misteriously missing from accords everywhere but not Japan. Vi gen JDM had AWD, vii gen had it also. AWD would change the way look at this car.
Loving this tsx content! Out of curiousity do you happen to know who makes these front (or rear) splitters?
Flow designs
How do you rev match the automatic? Is it literally just down shift and floor the throttle? I wanna try it on mine😆
Yeah pretty much, you just like tap it just after you pull the gear stick down, which in that gap between changing gears will rev it up and make it smoother and faster. And it sounds cool haha
@@KiwiCarLife cheers man, I'll definitely have more fun on the way to work tomorrow than the usual
So is it worth it?
Car’s in immaculate condition though with low mileage.
I wouldn't recommend the K20 one if you're looking to do any mods. They don't have as much potential as the K24 and the fuel economy differences are negligible
@@KiwiCarLife I agree.. Very tough situation ngl. 😅
CL7 is overpiced
What is the year model of the accord type S automatic? 😬
2008
Nice one, back in the day of CD6 Accord SIR there was a massive difference in performance between auto and manual, mostly due to the auto being 4 speed and terribly slow at shifting, tcu tuning is a game changer. I just tcu tuned my bmw 116i, it did 0 to 100 in 6.29 with slow ish shifts and changing gear at too low rpm, so maybe I'll get into the 5s, vid on my channel as I know it's hard to believe a 116i doing that lol
Nice yeah the ZF8 tuning makes a big difference to a lot of bimmers aye
Great video Please future Turbocharge CL7 euro R 🙂
Got a supercharged accord review coming?
Great to know the autos are good! id prefer manual but my missus cant drive stick. Are are the autos reliable with a few bolt on mods?
Yeah definitely man. Can’t handle forced induction but n/a they’re just fine

Nah no problems, and hit up @kflash_nz on insta he'll be able to tell you
i was wondering where you got the parts for the honda accord type s . What shop did u get it from
Google the parts listed in the description, any local shops that sell them will come up with
With PLM Headers and the yonaka cat-back did you have to do any modification??
With a tune everything worked great and made solid power
@@aeobs Yeah electric motor
If you compare auto cars of Toyota/honda same era sports sedan/hatch class the honda ratios for the auto seem to stick way closer to the ratios of the manual while toyotas ones are way too long hurting their 0-100 times and outright performance
Oh tbh the auto Hondas have really long gears too
random question but when u owned ur cl9 did u mostly use 5w 40 or 30?
10W30
what ecu can tune the automatic accord cl7/cl9?? i’m really curious

From a standing start the auto goes well but once’s the manual got to third gear it was a head in my circumstance
The Manual was in 3rd from the start of both rolling races...
Yeah once I hit third I started to reel him in but I didn't wanna go too fast
Now, I am a bit lost. How come the Euro with 2.4 engine? Supposed to be 2.0, isn't it? There should be 2.0, 2.4 and Euro R 2.0 (in JDM - which is about 200hp) and Euro AU, NZ and Fiji? I have a 2003 2.4 executive auto which is 140kw/189hp but I'm in Europe. To me somehow engine doesn't add up 😂😅
JDM:
K20A6 (119kW) - Base
K24A2 (148kW) - Type S
K20A (162kW) - Euro R
NZ/AU/EU:
K24A3 (140kW) - Euro S/Euro L
1:27 missing an exhaust bolt
Yeah when I took the video ages ago we were still putting it back together
1:31 TO GET TO THE CHOPPA 😂
Yes
Hey! Im looking for one of these Type S, please, can you tell me, if the steering wheel buttons, are iluminated?
This really highlighted that the auto doesn't really lose much power through the transmission at all
Anyone know of anyone who does mods on the K24 in the UK?
Kflash is in the UK atm, hit him up on Insta @kflash_nz he'll sort you with a reflash

@@parmsandhu5053 we don't get manual camrys here. And even if we did, the k24 would destroy a 2AZ
Ah alright, the 2AZ’s seem to perform pretty well and tend to keep up with the k24 with stock 0-100 times. However I don’t think the k24 would stand a chance against a 2GR FE, maybe that would be a good bout.

Yeah drop maybe slightly lower than mine and they rode well!
The hardrace coilovers in the auto can go alot lower they still have 2 more inches of adjustment left, I don't want it any lower as it's my daily and makes it to hard to use if I go any lower as I don't want to scrape and wreck the underneath of the car.

Youll spend less money in repairs and service owning a manual due to the less moving parts.
Plus honda make great manual boxes.
That’s not really true tbh. I get where you’re going because “in theory” less moving parts means more reliable but in practice both are equally reliable. Arguably an auto would be cheaper to maintain coz you don’t have to do a clutch every 100,000km ish
