Ok this video sealed it. I stoped playing in 99. Looks like I’ll get back at it. This video alone gave me the motivation to paint again. Great content by the way. Your necron painting will be an inspiration.
Awesome second part! Even more stoked to paint the overlord now. I'm also having so much fun with the glowing blades. The tesseract glow is such a brilliant finish for it. These necrons are just a joy to paint.

Those are looking so good with that extra little attention. The silver was so noticeable and really impressive. I am loving the way it looks. How well would that tomb world basing react to a little bit of drybrush?
Ok you sold me, this is the colour scheme I'm going to try, ordered a selection of makeup brushes as well (wife saw my order and asked if there was something I needed to talk about lmao). I might even attempt this more advanced method for the key mini's. I'd love to get hold of that basing stuff of yours and support your channel, but as it'll be travelling from Oz to the UK I'm guessing it would be cheaper for me to get a return flight to Oz than pay postage? :)
question about the tub you use for paints... its a damp kitchen town at the bottom? is that used to dilute the paint slightly or to stop the paint from drying? thanks!
It's a wet palette, home made, tub, damp kitchen cloth, we call them chux here in Aus, and then baking paper. It stops the paint from drying as makes thinning and mixing them easier with either medium or even just dragging them across the moist paper :)
Hell yeah, loved your first video and I’m using some of the techniques in that video for my own Necrons. I was wondering if you had any tips for painting white Necrons?
Thanks Conor! Check out my Bladeguard video man, that's my current white armour recipe if you want a matt look :) If you want metallic white mayyyyyyybe the white contrast over leadbelcher with a LOT of layering... not sure.
Hello! I just want to thank you for these videos. I went from a complete art novice having never painted a mini, to now having painted 13 warriors, 3 scarabs, a royal warden, and an Overlord to an extremely satisfactory degree. I'm curious about the second steps in both of the videos as it's a bit difficult to tell. Are you covering up the vast majority of the runelord brass with the canoptek alloy, or are you really trying to only catch the edges with it and loading less paint? So far I've covered most of it and am pleased with the results, but was wondering.
When you're working with metallic paints on a layer brush (in the base step), do you thin them at all, or just the moisture from the wet palette? I saw you used the lahmiam medium later in the video, but wasn't sure if you thinned them at all for the base layer
Hey there! I saw you used testors spray varnish, and being in Britain, I can’t get that. You said Matt varnish is important so I feel like I should still do it. Any other good brands to use? Thanks!
Hey Zorp sorry for the totally unrelated question lol.. If you see this comment in another painting video you did you made your own alternative to the Apothecary White contrast paint as "its garbage" 😂😂 im not sure which video or the timestamp tho.. Hey these are amazing and i'm looking to start my first set painting these and the space marines. What type of varnish did you use and would it also work ok on space marines (not sure what chapter yet but going between DA, Ultramarines, and Blood Angels). Thanks!
Just a query here. I was reading White Dwarf when Necrons really burst forth in their original format. I don't like the new turn of events where the Necrons are showing their age because to a degree it is a revision of the lore. Back in the day, if re-animation protocols failed, the Necron bodies faded out from the battle field and were reclaimed for repair or spare parts. I'll try to dig the issue up. Anyway the inference was that the warriors from the lowest to the highest were maintained if you will by nanites so they didn't get cruddy and battle damage was properly repaired. Further, as they are just waking up from eons of hibernation, rust and crud as we know it would have destroyed them long ago. Rust and corrosion activate and destroy over decades not eons. Also, to a degree there was a living metal rule so to my mind Necrons are much more scary when unsullied and perfect. Wot say yee?
This looks cool on camera but when you hit something with Cryptek shade it darkens it SO MUCH - not sure that comes through on video. I'm not happy with how dark it is and find I'm experimenting a bit.
