I really like the "three different levels of done" approach in these videos. It is a good reminder to me that there is actually a "good enough" level that I might be happy with that doesn't involve turning every model into a display case item. It also allows me to plan things in such a way that everything can reach a level of done before trying to move some or all of them to the next level of done. In this way if I'm stopped by life for a bit I don't have slops of half done trash but completed models ready for the next level of awesome.
"Every model must be fit for display" has insidiously crept into my painting over the past few years and has led me to doing a whole bunch less painting than I used to do because it doesn't sound fun or it sounds cool but I'm just not in a good place to invest that kind of energy and time into a model, right now.
These videos are helping me push back on that a little bit. If someone with the mad skills of Peachy thinks this level of done is just fine then who am I to suggest otherwise?
Helps me a ton on the psychology side of this hobby. Thanks for that.

    • @thepaintingphase

Thanks, It does feel overwhelming seeing all the super highend paint jobs, but as an army painter at heart it’s the spectacle of a collection not the individual, unless of course you want to do that, which is fine.
But yep never let anyone tell what’s the correct level of painting, only you should decide that.

When I gave my view, that I was hoping for better, I was attacked by other followers.
I gave my feedback honestly, and I'm fine that this may not be the direction the channel is going in. What I've never found anywhere else is being attacked for holding an opinion that others don't agree with.
Goodbye all. Enjoy what you like.

      Hey Mark,
Sorry to hear you're unsubbing, thanks for letting us know, whilst I can understand you want to see high end painting that's not what we're about, and I feel like we laid out or table from Peachy's announcement video. I've seen numerous comments from you on a multitude of videos saying we won't build a following with this level of painting, we should paint kill team to a higher level, or you disagree with the chat shows. We're unable to please everyone, that's totally fine, lots of other great painters on the internet to watch. I suggest Pete the Wargamer, his recent sentinel video is amazing.
We get a bunch of negative comments on here, it's the internet and I should expect it I guess. People can love or hate us and let us know either way. We get people telling us we're rubbish or they expected more, and equally get lots of nice comments too. If would appear we have angry supporters too now, which isn't something we condone. I'm sorry to experienced this. The internet is weird.
Out of genuine interest are you fine with the direction of the channel? The frequency and tone of your comments suggested to me otherwise but I could be reading a different tone into them.
Anyway, I'm rambling, thanks for watching so far, the internet can suck, all the best.

Can’t decide if I like this or the box art scheme better. What’s the box art color scene?

Cheers! If memory serves I think the box art is Sautekh.

I love how you show warts and all in your painting guilds m8ty, just recently found this channel and you have become my first to watch so well done to you guys on the quality of the channel, Best Regards Russ

Thanks Russ, appreciate the comment. warts and all in our opinion is all part of the painting process and should be shown. Otherwise it just magic juju.

    • @russ5838
      @russ5838 Рік тому

The mystic juju as GW shows us is no errors ever and spoils what the girls and boys do in their painting guides so I stopped watching them which is sad as they would be very good if we saw most of the process they use sadly Duncan has kept the same format I love his work but not the process but yours shows me that I am not a bad painter and we all make little errors that can be fixed which makes the shows you do REAL and I with the rest of the audience can relate and understand, bugger I think I am writing a love letter to you Peachy. 🖖👍

😂 well we all appreciate a good love letter, but it’s reassuring to know doing this format has such positive impacts on the viewers. So thanks Russ for the message ❤

Yeah, though I’d say it’s overall finish is a bit pale and more yellow, but very close
