1997 Honda Civic Clutch Slave Cylinder Replace/ Bleed

Replacing the clutch slave cylinder on my friends 1997 honda civic...
there was no visible leak but the pedal feel was so stiff, and when i opened the cylinder, the fluid was leaking and it was trapped inside the rubber boot...

What is the name of the part where the slave attaches? Is it supposed to be loose?

What does this particular part do? If the clutch's pedal sometimes sticks to the floor, am I supposed to change both master and slave cylinders?

Yes, its better if you change the master and slave at the same time and bleed the system properly
