    Same issue on my legacy… temperamental spring mechanism… but well worth the effort to repair!

      Thanks for the kind words. It really helps the channel. It is a lot harder than people think making videos and editing them.

    Excellent tutorial. Better than the other (same subject) videos I've viewed. Great job!

      @@outdoorswithcam Ours is about 16 years old. I feel more confident about disassembling and maintaining it after your video. Again, thank you.

    Thank you for the video. We have the same vintage Electrolux vacuum.
    I'll perform this procedure today.

      Its really not hard. Just be gentle and not brake the plastic. Its jammed so just wiggle it. Then all a sudden it will let go. It is amazing how long mine has lasted. After putting new motor in it couple years ago its like new. Wife uses it every day.

    Can you lubricate it if its unjammed and still seems to pull in slow or not at all

    So what did you do once it was taken apart to get the recoil back that you can’t do with it all assembled?

    • @outdoorswithcam
      @outdoorswithcam  8 місяців тому

      The cord was pulled all the way out. The dogs and band spring are jammed. With it assembled all you could do is pull on it more jamming it worst. With the dogs locked there is no way to release the tension with it assembled. If there is a way please tell me! because this is the third time the wife just keeps going till cord pulls out of wall

      @@powercityeatery264 When you open the "cage" you will hear and feel the dogs release. Don't let the spring uncoil or you will have a real mess trying to get that back together. Usually you don't have to open it all the way just enough for the JAM to release. I am sorry! I don't know the "real" name or terms for these parts. In car or boats they would call it dogs. Technically its Feed Return Coil Spring, Cord Winder Assembly, Cord Reel, ect...
