    Now i've planned to rush to the second planet, i'm sure i'll find it full of Dark Fog and unable to easily build up there...

      Dune: Spice Wars had a big update recently including reworks to systems like the Lansraad politics system. Would be great to hear your thoughts on it all. Really enjoyed your Dune:SW guides and vids.

    Yup, very nice to get off-planet asap. Honestly the jumpstart planet is generally crowded with all that water blocking everything. By concentrating on building Science-only there, the expansion can proceed very smoothly on a far more convenient planet.
    One thing that I found useful was to make a little bootstrap build: 3 iron refineries belting to a pair of assemblers, one making gears and direct-injecting into the other making belts. Do similar for sorters and wind turbines. That frees up Icarus’ build-queue for more important tasks.

    Nice mininum setup. Looking forward to you playing with the next version.

    I am planning to get out of my starter system fast... I hate them so much. Get to flight mode, stack up on graphite and point myself to one of the far off clusters with primo systems. I plan to pick something around 1.5 Luminosity (to power my hub, production, science, smelting) and if you use mods, there is one called star sector resource generator (kinda cheaty maybe but meh), that will spit out a .csv of your seed. I like to target a "home" system that has all the goodies, water/acid, 50mil+ on most resources, and then speed myself to end game before the Dark Fog can catch me (this i'm hoping is not a i'm moving closer to the enemy situation, I thought i saw they start on black holes and such so fingers crossed).
    I simply love the outer planets, as they are loaded in resources, and plan to build a small sphere there and focus my main sphere on a 2.0+ star. I will likely do similar to TDA here, off first planet in 1 hour, point at that 20 LY distant star with 8-10 hour travel time and go to bed. Will be interesting to wake up and arrive at my 10x better starter system... just hope it works out!

    I was going to say, does it matter which world is the start world? I get that it’s water logged. I know you need titanium early on. I think the hardest part with water logged starter was that I didn’t know what water I could get rid of. Once I realised water can be gotten easily later from off world and that you didn’t need that much. I left a small area at one of the poles and paved everything else. I wish I had known early on I could just go to town on paving every bit of water as soon as the foundation is ready.
    I suppose another challenge is the amount of coal and stone. It’s prolific and blocking a lot of building.
    I had an annoying coal and stone on the North Pole, I didn’t want to bury it, so had to wait ages for it to through.

      The main issue with the water is that you need so much soil pile to remove it (not to mention the foundations). I find that by picking a more convenient planet, you basically never have to think about the entire soil mechanic at all (Did I mention i'm lazy? :) )

    That's a very refreshing and interesting idea, setting up on the lava world asap to have much more building space without effort and almost all the materials you need all on one planet... Hmmmm....

      That's the idea!

      Looking at how the science is going on the latest playthrough, I’m not happy. After setting up ILS it might have been smart to tear down the setup on the jumpstart planet and start exporting coal/crude oil/stone/water to the mall planet.
      Essentially shifting all production away from the watery jumpstart planet and doing the science on the more open one.
      2-3x ILS senders, both taking in 3x Mk III belts of the four above resources, should have plenty of throughput to support whatever is needed on the mall planet. Especially if received and processed in those larger planetary block builds that TDA showed in his recent video series.
      Hindsight. :) I sense another playthrough coming soonish, maybe with the current map seed - I’m enjoying the challenge of it.

      Me too. Such a big change, and drops before Christmas break. I actually get a week off. Perfect timing.
      Are they going to suck the resources dry, is it going to be a race to stop them taking it all. How does it change end game. So many questions.

    Is this achievement not avaible if i "buy" the research?

    • @Yardiff
      @Yardiff Рік тому +1

      You are correct, several speedrun achievements are blocked by spending metadata to “buy” them. Makes sense, it’s not a speedrun if you can insta-get the research without doing the work required.

      I wasn’t able to get meta data on my last run as I copy paste someone’s blue print for a Dyson sphere. I’m open to recommendations on explaining Dyson sphere from the ground up. Mine says 31% satisfaction. I don’t even know what that means haha. It looks pretty though.

    • @TheDutchActuary
      @TheDutchActuary  Рік тому +1

      Using blueprints shouldn't impact meta data though! The satisfaction means you're drawing more power than the sphere can produce. In other words: You need a bigger sphere :)@@Eagle6Airsoft

    How fast was your REAL speed run, the editing of the video does not give accurate time line.
