Amazing videos! Are you posting your blueprints anywhere?
Great guide! Thanks!
I really like it that you dont build masive factorys like others. It makes it really unique. I´m finishing Phase 3 now for the first time :D
Congratz! And yea keeping your factories small(ish) is a fun way to approach the game - although I can also highly recommend at some point making a nice/large/beautiful factory to switch things up!
none of this matters once you start getting alt recipes. Most people will have cast screws to eliminate rods asap for example.
Experienced players that know what to look for and simply scoop up harddrives from the start and/or reroll recipes to get what they want, sure. People playing the game for the first time? Not so much ;)
How are you able to select machines from so far away? I need to practically be kissing them to select them!
Hoverpack increases your interaction range when you're in the air.
Yep, it's the hover pack! It makes things sooooo much faster and easier (you would have thought Ficsit would supply you with one from the start...)
I restarted using your seed, and I can finally start using your guide again after clearing the 14 level 22 bases on my lava planet. My ice planet was also already occupied by 11 bases so I figured I'll get the closer one, but regular missiles weren't doing it so I farmed enough dark fog for a bunch of supersonic missiles, spent hours clearing out the lava planet, and now I'm back. I think I just took too long, or your warning comment about game difficulty you made on part 1 was what happened. I wasn't overwhelmed on my home planet, but maybe dark fog expanded to and expanded on the ice planet faster for me. It was tedious, but also kind of rewarding.
That's a great follow through on your part, congratz!
You did a really good job on this one.
@Dutch Actuary: Your videos are fantastic. I’m building a new gaming desktop and would like to know what GPU you have in your rig?
I'm running with a Geforce RTX 3060 atm
21:20 "removal of in/outputs if not needed" - i usually make a blueprint setup with all Liquid inputs / outputs for Refineries / Blenders and remove them in the factory when not needed , so i wont get confused as to why theyre there. I also dont do the beltwork in the blueprint , because i change from which side i want to feed or take materials regularly. And i dont change the blueprint for each individual versions , cuz that would just bloat my blueprint menu with a ton of different variants of Refineries and Blenders ... its already a lot since i have blueprints for the amount of Machines i need , like 2x , 4x , 6x or 8x Smelters / Constructors and all the other Machines.
I like those vidos. Still I rushed to tier 8 with super mess factories to get trains and drones and now I'm bulding factories like 72GW rocket fuel + 4k rubber and 2.4k plastic :p I get why people give up huge projects. After 40+ hours I coudn't stay longer in blue crater to finish architecture part of the factory :p I'll go back there after my current elecronics factory that will use this plastic and some rubber at the dune desert coast :) Well done with phase 4!
Regarding your question about removing excess pipes and it taking a lot of effort - “out of sight, out of mind”. Cheers TDA!
Fair enough! :D
We are producing about 4 per min now..... you just leave game running on over night =D
About 80% of the people watching this is not yet subscribed. If you want to help out with a simple click, subscribe! Note for this episode: Congratz, you completed what *used* to be the end of the game! Sorry this episode took a bit longer than usual.
Hey TDA I am running the numbers and for the life of me I can not work out why 600 copper ore when the smelters only take 30 each meaning 18*30= 540? so i am a little confused by this
As you can see in the build planner, you need 550 copper for the planned build to work, so you're not wrong. I do sometimes round up here and there when making the builds because a little overproduction tends to make things run smoother (and allows for buffering when you draw stuff from the dimensional storage).
@TheDutchActuary OK that's cool this has actually helped my head. You wouldn't believe the headache I had trying to work this out
@@grizzsmith3195 Woosj sorry about that!
Thanks
Oh wow, thank you!!
Hi DA, similar to what @mephInc said, can you explain in a future video your high-level design approach? Like how you decide the production rate goals and subsequently how you break that down into the various sub factories?
Oh that sounds like a fun idea for a future video!
Thanks but if I'm not wrong this factory produces too much silica: 650 while only 600 are needed, it will stop once the refinery's output is full. A simple fix is to decrease the silica production in the constructors section. It also produce 480 aluminum ingot but only uses 470
You're not wrong, but that's what the sink is for!
am i missing something here as to how youre getting the outputs into the splitters in the logisitics floor? i see no lifts or holes??
The holes & lifts are there, but you can attach a splitter right onto a lift. You can still see the lifts from the back, but they get mostly hidden that way.
I've heard the number 6 is considered lucky, bringing prosperity and smooth progress in chinese culture.
How much MW should I have before completing phase 4. I currently have about 10k
My build has about 20-22K (geothermals make it less precise) and that is almost exaclty enough. You can do with a lot less depending on the scale of your factory though.
Any possibility you can share your foundation blueprints please?
This is a REALLY straightforward and useful video. Thanks! 🙏
Says Short video with 13:00 😂❤
Hehe well my videos tend to run between 20-35 minutes, so that's short for me :D
Did I miss one step or is this alternative foundry/constructor setup maybe looking good, but still works as a manifold? The steel pipes don't split three was do they? So you could just put all the steel ingots onto one belt and then run it to all three constructors?
I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're asking, but this is definitely not the only layout that would work!
the arrogance of calling this basic blockly single layer system a "master class"... pffft.
Looking forward to your video showing us how to do it better...
Considering a simple to follow system for those who are overwhelmed is exactly what I was aiming for - Mission accomplished! :)
@@TheDutchActuary fair... but still badly named click bait.
been waiting for the conveyor level, got none :C
Hahaha sorry, next episode we haz levels!
If i didn't have friends that showed me all of these steps already, this video would have been a life saver. I'm new to Satisfactory, as of last week. Thanks for putting videos like these together for us newbs.
You have friends? Teach me!
Do you have a V3 for quantum chips for those having access to grating crystals ?
I'm curious as to where you got the extra Alumina Solution from for the blender? The aluminium factory already use all of it up.
I just overclocked one of the Alumina Solution refineries to make 40 more solution, then overclocked the Bauxite miner to bring in 40 more bauxite to compensate. Now that we have Mark 5 belts it's easy enough to bring in a little extra.
The sheets and casings at this point are just sinked (for now) so i'm just siphoning off a bit for a little battery production. This is a temporary facility (but will still produce thousands of batteries before we switch it off). Zombiematt2's solution is an easy & more permant alternative though!
IF YOU ARE NEW TO SATISFACTORY: Do not watch this, it will remove so much of the magic of discovering this game because he tells your everything. Discovering a game for the first time is always the best, most memorable parts of any game. Don't ruin it by watching a video like this. also- If you are being hand-held to this degree, are you really playing the game?
"If all that sounds good then like the video"? I'll like the video if I like the video, thank you very much. (Except in this case because you broke the rule and asked at the beginning. so it's a dislike for you)
Cheer~~~fulfilling expectations or needs; acceptable, though not outstanding or perfect.😊
Good evening TDA! This looks like an exciting build and we get trains too! I like the 'modular' build concept. I have a question, please -- why are the refineries' production floor(s) different ( @14:39 )? It looks like it might be 4m with a 1m border. and Thank you :)
They didn't quite fit into the designer if I raised them any further ;)
fs as a European, pronounce it correctly. Aluminium.
I went with calling it the way it's called in the game, mostly because in my initial recordings I kept mashing both names up ;)
The Bus Left and Bus Right at 2:16, the 5 belts in front of the Point of View are to far by 1 block. This caused the belts to be 1 block offset on the right/left ends. To make this work, just start on the edge of the 3x3 grid.
I watched your video on blueprints from a year ago where you moved to single machine blueprints with inputs and outputs stacked and no logistics floor. Can you share any reflections you have that led you back to this logistics floor multi-machine approach?
Ultimately it's a bit cleaner looking, and the logistics floor makes the later-game logistcs easier to set up. Working with belts on the ceiling is *almost* like you're flying above them - rather than jumping over them a thousand times. That said, I had a lot of fun with my earlier design as well so its just a bit of preference. I've done a few runs by now and I generally just pick a certain style at the beginning and stick with it ;)
Thanks for the video! I'm getting to a point where I need to consider automating this in mass, but am torn between going full steel production or just keeping the production limited to iron and limestone using alts like iron pipe, and iron wire. This helps me put things into perspective. Thanks!
You always say that you "need" a certain amount of an item. I'm curious how you come up with that number given there's no constraints as to how little or how much of something you make. I always find myself either way under producing or over producing.
I take the approach of producing whatever is easiest (e.g. one manufacturer) and leaving PLENTY of space to expand when my consumption exceeds this easy production.
@@SteveBonds I feel a little silly for not having thought of this. Sir, you may have just solved one of my pain points with this game, thanks :).
@@wallywinker2438 No shame in that. I think I figured this out on my third or fourth playthrough. :-)
I tend to set a certain end goal and then work backwards from that. That end goal is usually based on exactly 1 machine making that endproduct (or if that is far too little, a multiple of that). That said, I might overdo it sometimes because the timeframes in this game are so long, even a low production will still complete most targets pretty efficiently.
am i missing something? if i use 16 refinery's for plastic i get 160 Heavy oil residue right? and i need 180 heavy oil residue for 6 refinery's running diluted fuel. am i dumb or just missing something :)
No I just ran into this same issue. 480 oil becomes 160 heavy oil and then you take 4 refineries making diluted fuel at 100% will take 120 heavy oil leaving 40 heavy oil to either split over two refineries or 4 or boost if you want. Either way total output of fuel ends up being 320 which ends up being enough to fuel 16 generators not 18. Please check my math on that but that is what I ended up with.
Nope you did that completely correct. However, as you will see in the latest episode (completing phase 4) we will adjust a few refineries from plasti to rubber, and that produces more heavy oil. I decided mid-recording that I would just leave the entire factory plastic dedicated for now for simplicity, but didn't realize that would reduce the heavy oil production and thus would be confusing (at least, considering I didn't mention this ;) )
So much good information in this TDA - thanks again!
Goo explination but my head still hurts and on of my trains won't go. :(
The answer is usually that you need to add in another block signal somewhere ;)
@@TheDutchActuary I added, Ithink, one into the intersection and one out of the intersection. Trains run, no collisions, I'm calling that a win.
@@HobbitGaming Definitely!
Strange, in my save that part of the map has 2 pure oil nodes, 1 normal, and 2 impure ones Edit - Actually I just found the other normal node after I had already combined the other normal and 2 impures... For some reason the 2nd normal node didn't show up in the resource scanner
Still confused AF but thanks anyway
The easy solution: Don't make your trains tracks cross! I'm about to complete phase 4 in this playthrough, have 3 trains driving around, and have used zero signals ;)
So pretty much TTD/Transport Fever rules, got it. thanks for the quick video before i start running rails.
Useful thank you.
