    7242NC Is the tail number for William Adams's viper from the first Cylon war that we see in the miniseries then flown by multiple pilots throughout the show. It's also the last Viper off of the Galactica at the end of the series.

    A *very* good job, mate, that Viper looks awesome! I especially like the weathering effects you got on there. Thanks for the review and build advice, I'm keeping your video bookmarked for when I finally build my Mk II.

      im building this exact model and im wondering how far in the build you go without painting? it seems that you would want to paint like the inside of the cockpit before assembling everything? whats the best order of steps?

      I can load some photos I took whilst building the model onto my deviantart page for you to have a look at. andrewc001.deviantart.com/gallery/58136729/Model-review-build-picsIf you want to follow the same build order I did the photos will help. 1. The order I built my model in. Paint cockpit and figure separately before you assemble the model. It is much easier to paint them properly and add detail this way. 2. Assemble the model with painted cockpit in place. If you are airbrushing the model you will find it easier to leave off the canopy, guns, and engines until painting is complete. {refer photos} Putty and sand any joins that require fixing. And mask off the cockpit to protect it. Make sure you use proper scale modellers masking tape, I personally use Tamiya mask as I find this works best for me. 3. Painting. Paint a base coat of grey. Any medium grey will do, its really personal choice on how dark you want the chipping effect. once dry seal the base coat with a matt clear coat. this stops the paint layers bleeding together later on. apply drops of liquid mask with a toothpick to cover random areas of the basecoat. Once dry you can paint over with white paint for the top coat. I then sealed this layer with matt clear as well. I added more liquid mask on areas I will spray the red markings on, then I masked off and sprayed these as well. And sealed once more but this time with a GLOSS clear coat. 4. Once clear is dry I remove the liquid mask by rubbing it with a toothpick. This reveals all the chips we are trying to achieve. once all the mask is removed I add decals. Let the decals dry and give once final clear coat I used a GLOSS again.5. I then painted the engines, guns and canopy then glued them to the model. 6. Final step was to use Tamiya smoke X-19 diluted with thinners to add further weathering to the surface applied with a brush. This will help break up the white surface and make it look more worn. Just make sure you don't paint the canopy with it. :-) I hope this helps. Feel free to send me any pics or further questions if you get stuck. Also the Latex mask for the weathering I use is Vallejo.

    In reference to the Viper Starbuck was flying in the Episode "Maelstrom" when she went into the storm, she was flying Viper 8757NC. I believe that is the same tail number she comes back with in the final season. I have a screen cap of it ( - I didn't think I could attach a pic, but I tried Copy and Paste and, well, it still didn't work... LOL).

    Followed this one and the MK VII builds, awesome work. I have the Galactica and Mk II models not built yet, but these videos gave me some real ideas to max them out. And being good at electronics, i am gonna pimp the Mk II with the LED layout you did for the Mk VII. Thanx.

    The original “Lt Starbuck”
    Is a male.
    Played by Dirk Benedict on the original series-
    Hence- the same resin figure for Apollo and Starbuck as they are both men in the original series.

      I was about 12 when this series premiered-
      I had all the original plastic Vipers, Cylon Raiders, The HUGE Battlestar Galactica herself (it was like 3’ long or so - it was big! And cool! All the action figures ..
      Long gone -
      I think it was Mattel or Hasbro that had the licensing - that plastic large Galactica (it was a toy, not a model, per se) would be amazing to find !
      Man I wish I kept those!

    I am building this model now, my biggest concern is the decals. They look brittle and few in the cockpit seemed to react stubbornly to my setting solution. How did they work for you? Any tips?

      I had a little trouble. My biggest issue was that they were fairly thick. I only ended up using the small ones and painted the rest.

    it would not be nicer to build from scratch and not with the kit
    I mean make the plans then build the ribs and braces for the fuselage and so
    because otherwise I can make a print in 3d and ready what companies do so it's not funny

  • @franciskingman3436
    @franciskingman3436 4 роки тому +1

    Disappointing at 1/32.. that's all you get???? I realize there's price point consideration but compare to 1/32 aircraft kit from say Airfix not to mention 1/32 Tamiya, there should be a considerable amount more detail, especially in the cockpit... The creators of BSG should have chosen a company like say Bandai to create this kit. Why use a small company like Mobius? Builders who are fans of the show would pay more for a quality kit. I know I would. There are photo etch parts for the Mobius kit out there and scratch building is always fun, which is what I plan to do...

    • @andrewsartscalemodels
      @andrewsartscalemodels  4 роки тому

      Pretty much mate. They are now quite expensive as well. The viper mk 7 has a very bare cockpit for a similar price.
