U need a spring on the throttle pulling it back so it dont run wide open, and when you go to start the bike always use the choke itll start first pull every time, and when you bought the bike they dont come with oil, it just has a little in there to protect the engine parts in shipping, and another super easy speed mod you can do is there is a screw that only lets the throtle go so far, so the tab it screws in you bend it back, and itll go really fast with that and the governor you just took out

If you do a jack shaft delete and do direct drive they go pretty fast for a "trail bike" me and my buddies got some and we had a car follow us and they were going 61 and we still had some rpms left

All you have to do is bypass the governor spring with a zip tie on the throttle body under the gas tank, it's just as accurate and you don't have to take the motor apart, just search governor bypass with a zip tie. 🤘
Is that all you have to do or does it depend on what mini bike you have because I saw a video of some guy who did that on a frp gmb100 and he took out the limiter
Yeah zip tying it pretty much does the same thing, it just prevents that limiter spring from releasing, it's just less work zip tying it instead of completely removing it
@@ADAMROCK78I just zip tied mine and it started to stall and now won’t start. It was running completely fine before hand and now doesn’t even start. I just got a new carb and still won’t start. I checked the spark plug and everything else and I don’t know the issue, any ideas?

Put the governor back and put a torque converter on it I’m done that with mine and it makes it go like 45 miles an hour
Whenever you remove the governor you need to add a return spring opposing the throttle otherwise it’ll just run wide open….. take off the air cleaner and you’ll see what’s going on
Yo I did this with my ct100u and I did everything added a spring and everything and it still is wide open
My 212cc predator engine for my Go-kart was set up the same way bro. U gotta remove all the linkage to the governor arm, then (with the engine open again) from the outside top cut that metal governor arm off that u left in there when u removed the governor. After that just tap the hole to make threads where the governor arm was and put the correct sized/threaded bolt in its place w/ sum thread locker on it. Then close the engine case back up, fill with oil, connect a return spring to the throttle linkage and also back the throttle screw out a bit that's on the engine.... Once all that's done, ur ready to ride out.. NOTE: Very Worthwhile Upgrades to get more horsepower n speed are as follows---> performance intake air filter& carburetor w/ upgraded carb jet, Heavier/bigger valve springs, high flow exhaust pipe kit (w/ high flow exhaust muffler tip for the neighbors sake, lol), adjust gearing ratio to your preference by installing a smaller/bigger sprockets in the right places.... After those upgrades, it's like a night n day difference w/ power&speed gains and makes it into something u could seriously hurt urself playing with if ur not careful lmfao... I Hope that helps and I hope u guys get ur minibike set up on point like u want it.. oh and btw, I did it all using YT vids. My YT playlist labeled "Go-kart Stuff" contains every video I used as instructional reference to do everything I just explained, but for my predator 212cc engine on my Go-kart.( I also disconnected and removed the oil sensor cut off box thing)
This thing is way to complex for this guy. Needs to stay with simpler things with out too many moving parts.
@@ratdad48the throttle linkage is pretty confusing how it connects with the governor. I put like 5 hours into it and couldnt get it original again before i gave up and ordered a slide carb and a different throttle cable.
You need to upgrade the carburetor to a mikuni style one, this will allow you full control of throttle, no more running away bike!
Put the chain a direct link right to the rear sprocket form the clutch, this gears your mini bike to higher speeds
You will go fast, but have very slow takeoff.

It has a centrifugal clutch so when u take off the govener it allows it to spin fast enough to engage the clutch i have a 80cc gocart and i had the same problem when i did it
I zip tied the spring and took out the throttle stop screw and I ran 33mph (in CO) just ordered my stage 2 kit aswell hoping for 45-50mph once that’s installed

U need to put a return spring for the throttle linkage it’s just stuck wide open now cause u removed the governor lol u have to find a way to connect the throttle linkage to the little black piece on carb this way your not stuck in wide open throttle I can get u pics if need be

You need to loosen the idle screw to the carburetor and it would bring your idle down enough to control it

Put a racing 2 stroke carburetor on it and a nice muffler and it will fly just with that
I had that same problem it was my clutch bc it was messing it up and I fixed it by buying a torque converter and instead of taking the governor out I zip tied the spring trick.

Your problem is the linkage... yes you took out the right part. but you need to fix the linkage. so on the carb you will see the linkage. step 1: drill a small hole on the throttle lever. step 2: the linkage you see on the carb needs to be bent and cut into the right shape to fit in the throttle lever hole you just drilled. then once you rerouted the linkage from the carb to the throttle lever you'll be good.... here is a video too show you how to do it. ua-cam.com/video/KXDEfY3gork/v-deo.html

I think the Governor linkage pulls the throttle open when at lower rpms. It has to be disconnected because it's not there anymore. there should be an arm on the outside of the block from where you removed the Governor. Remove all linkage from that arm. Then adjust carb idle screw. Watch a video on how to remove the arm. It's easier than trying to explain.

Zip tie the governor spring would have done you better the 196 is a tough platform you can modify it but may I for argument sake check out a ducar 212 and why I say this motor for modify 196 or predator 212 with governor removed or bypass will only spin to 5k rpm tell your valve spring float the ducar has a shaved governor it's set for 5300 rpm its a stage 2 motor out of the box it's over built and cost around 200 just building a predator or this motor will cost over 400 food for thought new sub
Ok so I got the same bike from lowes a few weeks ago. I'm no mechanic. I have my HUD display goggles from Zeal. With limiter 21 mph tops even with my 190 lbs fat ass. My nephew is not even 100 lbs wet and same result. Seeing if I need to take mine to taters for the removal.

21 mph my bicycle 49cc friction drive 4 stroke motor went 25 stock and I put high falutin 2 strock carb and high flow muffler and now I get it to 45 damn thing screams
I have the same mini bike like you have all you have to do is use the supplier and bend the thing down that is touching the governer screw, bend that thing down and it will go 23 it happened to me
It’s pointless to remove the governors on these engines it’s way better to straight chain it and you’ll get about 45-50 max speed but u won’t risk blowing the motor
The reason it wouldn’t crank write away is becuase u either Have that switch on the handle bars turned off or either the gas’s is off or u can turn the choke on
that shit takes me 2 mins, i get a really sharp pocket knife, tap it in between that little circle clip then twist it, it pops right out. screw drivers are too fat to grip that little cclip.
Remove that jack shaft and run the chain from the clutch directly to your rear sprocket
Put the bike on a concrete block with the back tire off the ground then put a return spring that little flappy thing for the governor needs to come out and be replaced with a bolt and you need 18 pound valve springs or it going to float valves be careful turning to high or the oil dipper will break off and destroy the motor.
Make sure there is a return spring on the throttle arm
If it was smoking that’s because there is too much oil trust me it works with every motor if it’s smoking sometimes the first thing you want to check is the oil because I have a push mower and Apple way too much oil in it oh well my father did so set my father put too much in it Smoked

Yea u have to use the choke to crank any bike then when its cranked cut the choke off and ride off u always gotra use ur choke

Maybe you need to adjust the throttle I took my throttle stopper off and my bike went off on its own, so I just had to adjust a throttle

Its because you left it attached to that governor arm… the arm is pulling it wide open… take off the rod and attach it from the carb straight to the throttle arm… just reply and ask and ill make a video on it

U took the Gove out there's a rod that goes from the carb to govner arm shortn the rod and make it go the throtle lever on the motor then hook the cable back up

I haven't even removed my governor and mine already goes 54.5 mph
If you pull the gray lever aka the choke out when u start it it will start in 1 or 2 pulls
Carb slide in the wrong way turn it 180 degrees and adjust idle

I have the 100 version of that and it hits 35 with governor on it so I didn’t remove it
Mount a spring on the front end of the throttle where the holes is in the linkage and connect the spring to on of the holes in the flywheel/pull starter and you can’t run your engine like this so much you need to get a billet rod and billet flywheel along with 18 lb valve springs and chromoly pushrods and a billet or cast camshaft and piston for governor removal then your engine shouldn’t blow up I also recommend getting a mikuni vm22 carburetor for faster top speed and better Performance and it gets rid of the crappy throttle and the linkage you just run it through the carb and it’ll have a snappy nice feel
Also you need to take the arm out of the engine if not it can get in the crankshaft and plug the hole with a screw
