The main difference is that the torque comes a lot sooner than the 9th gen. Honda should've uped the power to at least 230/240hp and at least 200lbs or torque. A car with 200hp isn't impressive most especially if it's a 4 cylinder with a turbo. I don't have an si but if I had to choose, I'd for sure get the 9th gen. There's been talk about Honda making the Type R awd. I'm sure that it's just a rumor but if they go through with it, then it'll be insane.

Is there any car that gives you this satisfaction to drive in a 4 door or with a usable back seat under $40k and that would be considered reliable to own for at least ten years?
There are videos of the SI's being Dyno'd and it ran like 240hp at its peak. they dumb down the numbers on paper because they want to sell more Type R's.
The back of the car still looks like it was designed by 3 different committees. Somebody at Honda needs to hire a European designer. This star wars styling is embarrassing. Only 14 year olds like this style and they can't drive.
Well, this is the first time I have ever heard anyone describe that exhaust pipe as "sexy," and certainly not the sexiest thing about the car. Well, I'll be...
f181234 my car is stock. It’s my daily. And yes it’s beaten SI’s. I have vids if you want them. Just ask for my number or add me on snap and I’ll send em to you.
There's a huge list of cars that are faster in a straight line. Speed is cheap. This car is more about speed in corners. I've been faster in my Si than cars with 2x the hp at autocross and HPDE's.
bcskelly but let’s be real.. when are you going to use that in public? Not that often unless you’re on a track. Now how many times will you pull up to someone at a red light and “race”. That’s more common and more likely to happen.
The turbo was subbed for variable lift on the intake valves. The low end torque is awesome. Only wish it had now too end gusto. Otherwise great powertrain. Also should mention the huge hp gains with ktuner/hondata.
Hate the tacked on rear vents. It’s just ugly. It works a lot better on the Sport Hatchback. Wish so much for an Si Hatchback. Don’t like the look of the hdmi exhaust. Needs a proper twin exhaust with a rear diffuser like the sport hatchback.
Styling has not been Honda's forte for quite some time now, but I'm glad to see they're tweaking and refining it to look a bit nicer. I'm curious to see what the next full redesign will look like. Hopefully more sexy and less tacky racer boy.
For $25,990 sticker price its about as much performance, technology, gas mileage and reliability you can get for that amount of money for a brand new car. I think its about 95% perfect. The only thing it should have is vents for rear passengers and maybe 20 more HP.
@@wranglerlife4ever42 Oh I agree. It's a sweet little package, it just doesn't excite me that much. But that's just my opinion. And that's coming from a 9th Gen Si owner.

No mention about the shorter final drive ratio, standard led headlamps, complete Honda sensing suite. I agree that Honda should've used a k20 for the si cuz the 1.5 has oil dilution issues. Now an awd Type R with a k24 would definitely be interesting. There's been talk about Honda making the Type R awd. I'm sure that it's just a rumor but if they go through with it, then it'll be insane.
Kraoking XYZ AWD type R probably coming gen11. Because I don’t know how they can make the fwd base car faster.
Also it very well could be a hybrid like a small NSX.
@@kraokingxyz1397 no way to get that power from the 1.5 and the 2.0 is reserved for the type r. maybe some hybrid motor setup for tire shredding power but say goodbye to manual trans for that.
Devin, your facts for horsepower ratings are completely wrong for 10th gen. Oh and btw, Subaru will be downsizing engines coming this next redesign.
@@kraokingxyz1397 Oil dilution problems seem to be much for of a problem for non-owners of internet commenters such as yourself.
The aventador and the new nsx also have thaf exhaust tip
Is there any car that gives you this satisfaction to drive in a 4 door or with a usable back seat under $40k and that would be considered reliable to own for at least ten years?
3:45 that’s a hatchback
those fake vents make it look cheap......interior too......and its had 205 hp for yrs......come on honda you can do better
There are videos of the SI's being Dyno'd and it ran like 240hp at its peak. they dumb down the numbers on paper because they want to sell more Type R's.
The pocket part was funny.🤣
First Honda civic SI 1984
The back of the car still looks like it was designed by 3 different committees. Somebody at Honda needs to hire a European designer. This star wars styling is embarrassing. Only 14 year olds like this style and they can't drive.
Kumbaya kumbaya
The front end isn’t bad at all. But yea that rear end on all trims is baad. (And I own one)
The new accord looks great tho
At six feet tall plus and a very senior citizen, could such a person enter and exit the coupe easily? Have always liked jaunty little cars.
Very nice car & liking the manual
Naaaah! A true sports car should be only two doors! That's the only one i would get.
Thanks I have been waiting for this
When will civic EV come out?
Well, this is the first time I have ever heard anyone describe that exhaust pipe as "sexy," and certainly not the sexiest thing about the car. Well, I'll be...
he has to say something is sexy cause honda won't let them test anything else... it's a piece of shit car in my book....
@@JOHNJ0HN9111 but here you are watching it and talking about it lol
@@NaijaBull and your point is??
First Si was produced in Japan in 1984
Honda, please, start selling SI in Europe!!! US have now the Typer R, so time is ripe for the SI in Europe.Thank You in advance:)))
Sweet shoes, a man after my own heart
First honda sedan produced in the U.S was in 2007
Finally less sporty look civic, grown up civic
That's a lot of mufflers. Probably a lot of extra weight. I don't get it.
First SI in the US was 1985
I love love love this car really nice
1984 … same as that movie that’s coming true IRL.
First Honda Civic SI in the US was in 1985
Sad that my 2014 GLI will still smoke it in a straight line.
Adrian Quiroz if it’s stock no it won’t and it can’t keep up with Si in the corners
f181234 my car is stock.
@@ad7.5 you're probably right, though I don't street race. Last autocross of the year in STL is tomorrow though!

The 2door is better
HONDA SHOULDA KEPT THIS A: 2L VTEC 210HP 181FTTQ... WITHOUT A TURBO. I'LL PASS
It doesn't have VTec which kinda of sucks with it being an Si
Tool0GT92 who cares about vtec when you have stepless variable valve (don’t know if it’s either timing, lift, or both.)
93remix did the old 2L get 40mpg hwy? I average 43mpg hand calculated on the highway at 75mph.
The turbo was subbed for variable lift on the intake valves. The low end torque is awesome. Only wish it had now too end gusto. Otherwise great powertrain. Also should mention the huge hp gains with ktuner/hondata.
@Sergio Aguirre I've gotten close to 40 mpg on the NJ Turnpike doing 65-70 mph to NYC with my K24. I normally average between 31-35 mpg.
It looks better than the Type R.. IMO..
It's nice but still kinda "meh" for me.
Ryan Littleton - the styling is a little confusing to me....I don’t care for the rear bumper or the exhaust tip. I do like the LED headlights and fog lights.....and the wheels are a big improvement in looks. I have the 2020 Si sedan on my list of cars for test drive this spring.
The first honda civic si in North AAmericawas 1985
No mention about the shorter final drive ratio, standard led headlamps, complete Honda sensing suite. "I will go over everything that's changed", instead..."this car has new black rims"...what a joke. Where's the gimbal while filming? Looks like Blair Witch project 2, there are food bloggers with better production quality. And the seats on the Type R are pinching you because you're not average weight..your grossly over weight, you can't blame that on the car made for normal people.
1987 in the United States.
Still no 8-speed DSG? Sigh.
There's plenty of other cars that come with automatics. Save the manuals!
@@bcskelly Why not offer both though? Nobody said manual shouldn't be an option.
Si’s have always been manual and will always be manual

"a lot of motorcycles don't get 30 mpg"
Sure, if you're talking greater than a liter superbikes. Seriously, Roman?
My liter bikes averaged 43-50mpg running 85mph everywhere (2006 & 2x2009 gsxr 1000s) lol
@@KTMcaptain congrats. My point being that basically any bike gets over 30 mpg. I should have clarified that better.
