Having a few issues with it, but hopefully i can get it going ( textures dissapear from viewport if i plug displacement in) and it didnt like being on Optix so put on Cuda. So getting there, big thx
🤔 I'm using cuda I have no problems at the moment but I have just did a fresh install of Windows a few days ago so everything's working great at the moment 🤭🤓👍🏾
Thank you. However, I still don't understand why there are so many adjustments needed when opening a customized software. There's also the mysterious "gamma 2.2" and a bunch of unpacked settings.
Love your tutorials! I had a question, is it possible to still use certain blender add ons in Octane Render. For example I use Hard Ops and box cutter a lot. Not sure if you are familiar with these. Would I still be able to use these?
Yep I use all my add-on's the only one that are different are my landscaping scatter assets I need to convert the materials over to Octane materials but the plugin still works just the materials don't show I am familiar with the box cutter add-ons they're pretty much geometry-based so they should have no issues but if you were using decals you may have to convert the decals to an octane material
@@1polygonewithme Thanks for the reply! Yeah I was playing around with the free version today. Box cutter add ons work, however, I have a cool animated sky add on that doesn’t work. Is there a way to convert environment nodes in Octane? Or is it just materials?

@@1polygonewithme Well I appreciate the hard work that goes into these videos. Not a lot of content out there for Octane, and I want to utilize it in my workflow. If you did a video on converting environment textures, i’d for sure be interested. 🙌🏻 Subscribed to you btw. Love the content. 🤘🏻
thanks, but is there an easy way to have my normal blender and the octane blender separate so that if I open each one I dont have to go through the pain of changing textures and hdri setups...
I make it so that I can freely move between octane and cycles without reconfiguration, I created two configuration files, I configured one file for octane (+ACES), the second file for cycles, this is done very simply. Then, when I need octane, I simply move the configuration files from a folder I have prepared separately to the Blender Foundation directory, and if I need cycles, I will close my working project with octane, change the configuration file and open the project I need again. This is the only way out if the octane is installed on the same version of the blender as the cycles
@@1polygonewithme but sometimes the configuration settings for some reason do not work, you can also use the configurations of older versions of the blender
Hi there, just downloaded blender octane After enabling the blender octane addon, i can't see the octane kernel except i go to the shading tab. It doesnt appear in Layout tab.
I prefer using the addon version with blender 3.6.2. this 3.6.1 version is super unstable for me, when I try to export it re-writes over frame 0 again and again, problem doesn’t happen with the addon version
i made a scene with octane scatter on surface with the older version and updated and now it doesnt render the scattered objects anymore. in viewport render theyre still shown. do you know how to fix it? any node i have to plug in so its being rendered? also when rendering it shows a black image on composite layer, i need to manually switch to viewlayer. i‘m really lost with the scatter thing though.
Cycles is still lacking key features, for stuff like vfx compositing. If we want to composite outside blender we need industry standard render passes that are fully denoised, cycles passes are limited and it only denoises the combined by default, useless. have you ever tried to combine all the cycles render passes in an external software? It never gives the same result as the combined pass for some reason - octane gives a proper result in any compositing software
Node based UIs are the best. Great video.

Not really sure why they ditched the original interface. That was a much better layout imo.
Are there any major benefits to this new version?
Yay tell me about it 😁
Nice tutorial!
Thanks!

Unfortunately not I just save the nodes in my quick favorite I used most saves me a lot of time 😁

I updated it and the render doesn't work. It always says "waiting for image" and nothing happens...
if i already got blender octane do i have to uninstall something?
No only if you want to upgrade
@@1polygonewithme i ddnt uninstall anything and just installing from the zip package replaced the blender version etc… so everything went fine 💪
but.. why octane over cycles?

For VFX the workflow is way better then cycles
Ah I'm unaware of these, cus I haven't tried VFX a lot but these sound useful.. thanks
And its unbiased renders. More accurate, more define textures in output, less work for realism.
Marvin?! is that you???
