Hey dude, I followed your method to render AOV passes. But when I plug my Transmission pass into the composite node, it turns black. Can you tell me how to properly render transmission passes.

In the data properties of your object, if you create a new color attribute, name it (its named color by default), and then paint black and white areas on your object. You can mix two separate materials together with a 'color vertex attribute' node (with the same name as you named it in the data properties) plugged into the amount of the mix material node. A great way to mix materials or even multiple normal maps etc within a single texture.

As octane expert, probably do you know: how to connect octaneProxy node into the new version of blender/octane (4.2/29.15)?:) In previous versions was octane geometry's pin in "material output", but now.. There is octane proxy node, but impossible to connect it anywhere..

I have a question about octane inside blender. I am planning to switch from cycles to octane but I have lot of questions regarding to octane.for eg: many add ons are build based on cycles shading system. For eg:Grasswald,botanique ,geoscatter. These vegetations add-on shading are very complex shading system they built with node groups. Then how it’s possible to convert those materials to octane materials. Octane material converter is not gonna work.and if it’s not possible. Is there any alternative I can get?? To make environment scene with vegetations??

Octane is more photorealistic, the problem is that it´s not as compatible like Cycles is with addons, materials, etc. You have to build your own assets, which take time but it´s really worth it when you are past that.

I'm hoping one day this can just be a single add-on + the Octane server. Having a fully separate build for Blender is a lot to ask for me

As much as I'd love to stick with Octane, is nice to have quick addon compatibility with the standard cycles engine, which is not necessarily too far behind Octane... both are path tracing engines so overall results are fairly close.
