I love the Anke top you are wearing it is a classic. The finished Felix Cardigan is beautiful and it is a good knit. The Ingrid sweater has been a challenge. Take care and Potter in the garden😊❤😊
I really love hearing you talk about the joy and balance that knitting brings to your days. I've been going through a rough time the past couple of weeks due to the loss of someone dear to me... I've been knitting a lot but haven't been watching many podcasts. As soon as your new video popped up, however, I decided to watch it right away. Your energy is so comforting and calming for me (more than any other knitting podcast, I think) and I love catching up on your beautiful projects. Especially the socks. :)
Oh my gosh. That means so much to me, Sara. Thank you so much for sharing that. I'm sorry that it's been rough. I'll pray for you.
@@alovelyyarn That is so kind of you. I appreciate that so much. Thank you Amber!
Your Felix cardigan turned out great! I think teal buttons will look really good with the color, too. I look forward to seeing what vests you decide to cast on. I’m also thinking of making a couple this fall. Thanks for another great episode, Amber. ❤
@@AHandKnitLetter Thank you so much, Becky!
I love the sound of your vest project ideas. I haven't had one of them in years. It may have to go in the queue. 😁
Amber, I really enjoy your podcast! I like your taste in the various patterns and yarns. Thank you for doing them. Would you please leave the pictures up on the screen a little longer when you show the ones you are considering? It would help when you start telling us why you are thinking about knitting them. thanks!
Hi Ellen! Thank you so much! And, yes, I will try to remember to edit the pictures so that they stay on the screen longer. I'm sure that would be helpful for the viewer.
You sound most enthusiastic about the last vest/top. Start with that one and make a plain one if you still would like a second after finishing and wearing the first =)
Another vest idea for you: Over It Slipover by Lily Kate France. I think you should make two! One v-neck, one round neck…
I love the vest with the lease and the cables. Also, with the textured vest, what you could do is maybe do a couple of the pattern repeats across the chest and then the rest in stockinette. That way you get some of the texture but it’s not all over. My teacher did that with the Wilson top recently and I like it better that way. Also, love your earrings!!
Hi Amber! I love your Felix cardigan, the color is perfect for you. I totally agree about paid for patterns, they should definitely take all the guess work out of knitting the pattern.
I like the sille and See My Vest patterns. Both are great.
I hope you are having a wonderful week.
Hi Sabrina! Thank you! I have already decided that I should knit two. One plain, and one of the textured/more complicated vests!
16.36 What a good idea to pull yarn through to prevent the ribbing grow wider
Haha. Thanks. It just came to me after I bound off and saw how loose it was. I was thankful for that long tail!
Thank you for the episode! 🤗 I love all your works and it’s really nice see every now and then also other things than knitting like gardening or hiking. From the vests Sari Norlund’s was my favorite 🥰
Thank you so much, Maria!
The flowers you posted last week are so cheerful and pretty! Felix cardigan also, cheerful and will look fantastic with the turq/teal buttons! Crochet top for your daughter- so in style! Wish I could crochet...I think all of us out here esp those who watch the knitting pocasts feel the same fulfillment and peace that knitting brings to our lives! Thanks for another lovely video. Good luck with the school year!
Thank you so much, Christine!
Amber - your work is gorgeous, beautiful knitting! Thanks for all the comments and details - appreciate all of it. Your Felix is so pretty and the buttons will totally finish it - so sweet!
Thank you so much, Barbara!!!
I like the v neck stockinette vest and the cables and lace . I loved the September socks so much I'm pla
inning on making 2 pairs. I love knit picks stroll yarn!!! Your daughter will love her top
Hi Patricia! Those are the ones that I decided on! I'm planning on knitting both!
Thank you for sharing coffee and knitting with me this morning Amber ❤ Vests seem to be a theme right now - I'm working on a Cutting Edge vest right now ❤ Hugs to you!
Hi Cary! Yes, I think vests are making a comeback! Thank you for spending time with me!
Hi Amber! Your knitting impresses and inspires me! Your Felix?, the dandelion colored cardigan turned out great! It does not look like acrylic yarn, its drape and texture are perfect. I have yet to knit my first sweater, but I have a stash of Knitpicks City Tweed destined for one. I love the textured pullover and the leafy socks, you are a talented knitter. I wonder, would you not consider making a matching crocheted top to Rachel's? Love and Blessings to you all! 🧶🌻
I would go for Schemer and/of Rosalind top. Thank you for another lovely podcast ❤️ Vera (Belgium)
I am very much a morning podcast person also. I wake up early before my family & slow sip my coffee for about 2 hours while watching podcasts, then I can start my day 🥰 The color of your Felix cardigan is spectacular!
Amber..thy for doing your podcast. I am new here and I really enjoy watching. I am past the season of life you are entering and I am still feeling on the warm side. I say…I am always cold, unless I am having a hot flash. Luckily there are lots more cotton/wool yarns on the market and also more patterns that are for lighter weight garments.❤
Haha. Well, I have been told that the perimenopausal stage can last for YEARS. Oh boy. I've always been a colder person in the past, but now I'm always warm. Even summer temps seem to bother me which is also a new thing.
Wowowow the Ingrid sweater 🖤
Thank you!
Loved the comment about knitting for our kids. I will always drop everything if my daughter makes a request. I made the 'Reflections Vest ' by Heidi Kirraier last year out of a DK Recycled tweed. I was able to wear it all spring with a shirt or long sleeve tee. I am currently making the 'See My Vest' by Maker Maker. Im using 100% worsted wool with a strand of mohair. The gauge is loose and I don't think too bulky or warm. I am making it in black so it will go with all my clothes. I love a vest and hope this will be another useful addition. Thanks for the podcast.
Socks always look like so much fun, but my arthritic hands can barely handle crochet right now. My mouth was watering after you described your garden's bounty. This isn't on topic, but I meant to suggest you watch a podcast by Helle called Danish Musings, specifically #7. I thought of you when I watched it. Can't wait to see which vest you choose. BTW, I vote for orange w/yellow centers for buttons for your cardigan. 😊
I think a more basic vest for the shirts you showed us would look great. I love that detailed vest you showed us at the end as well but I think it would be a bit fancy for the shirts. I have to tell you that I think you are a beautiful knitter! I loved all your FO’s and all your WIP’s! I also loved the choices for upcoming projects. And your yarn choices are fantastic. I just wish I could get past my fear of making a garment. Thank you for sharing all your lovelies.
Thank you so much for your insight, Mary! And thank you for your kindness. You can totally knit a garment! You just have to do it! It's ok if you make mistakes. We all do. You learn from them! You can do it! I'll be your cheerleader!
@@alovelyyarn Thank you, you gave me the push and inspiration I think I needed. I’ve been looking through my yarn for color and fiber already!
@@maryklenewski7190 yay!
Amber, I absolutely love your podcasts and look forward every week to see what you’re doing. I’ve already purchased the #2 vest and hope to be able to make it. I agree with others that you could definitely do 2 vests. You’re so talented in your knitting and so photogenic in your podcasting. I just admire your whole vibe.❤
Pam! You are the absolute sweetest! Thank you so much. I'm pretty sure I'm going to knit the No. 2 vest and then also one of the textured ones.
Love your videos. I vote for the Rosenlund top. 🙂
Thank you so much!
Amber I love your Felix cardigan and it’s a beautiful color for you. I know you’ve talked about the Felix before. This time you’ve really inspired me and got me out of a knitting slump. I had some yarn that I’ve worked up 3 times into various sweater and I’ve not enjoyed it. This time I decided to try the felix, thanks to you, and I’m loving the outcome. I feel my knitting mojo has returned. Thanks!
Yay! That is so great! Are you doing the pullover or cardi version?
@@alovelyyarn I am doing the pullover Although my mojo is back I am not that ambitious for all the purling on the cardigan. 😊😂
I love all your vest suggestions! I made two last year and now have at least another two planned! The armscye of the Sari Nordland one looks very deep, which is probably why so many knitters have styled it as a vest.
One other thing - I hope you don't mind you suggesting you change the word Kitchener to the more accurate word grafting. Lord Kitchener was a senior British Army officer who 'conquered' the Sudan and played a leading role in the Boer war in South Africa putting thousands of black South Africans in concentration camps. It's because of him that both countries are as unstable as they are these days. His name is used for grafting because he requested that method for closing the toe of socks knitted as comforts for soldiers in WW1 because it helped reduce rubbing and therefore trench foot. Grafting was just called grafting before that! All in all he was a man that doesn't deserve to be remembered. Thank you x
Hello! Thank you so much!
Also, I had no idea that "kitchener" came from that! Oh my! You know that habits die hard, and I've been using that word for years, but I will try to be very conscious about using the word "grafting" instead.
For your vest pattern consideration--check out the Snuggle Puddle Vest by Zanete Knits. It's a v-neck vest with texture by doing a purl row every few rounds. I started it in Dec but frogged it since it was too big. It uses worested weight yarn on US 7s. Also uses Japanese short rows which was a first for me. Thanks for sharing your knitting with us....always enjoyable watching you.
Hi Kim! Thanks for this suggestion for another vest pattern! I think I may do a special episode on vest patterns that the viewers suggested. There have been so many!
Amber, I think you might be able to solve your Ingrid sleeve problem with a copier, some scissors, and some hilighter or washi tape.
If you make several copies of the chart, and then create your own version that shows more repeats, you can mark off columns of stitches that you have decreased away. That way you can just see where to start (and stop) each round on your improved chart, and still have the full repeat there to knit from in the center. It is such a beautiful sweater!
Hi Wendy! Thank you for that idea! I actually finished it. It's now blocking. I'm glad it's done and will be excited to wear it!
Hi Amber! I love all of your knits. So beautiful! I am currently working on the Ingrid sweater. The color you chose is beautiful. At the bottom of the body there is a 1x1 ribbing in a smaller gauge needle. That may help add length to your sweater. The chart for the body on the pattern: the ribbing is the last 2 rows repeated (top of the chart). I am working on that section now. :)
Amber- Your Felix cardigan turned out great. It looks very nice on you. I have been wanting to make the pullover and now I want to make the cardigan also! 😊
Thank you so much! I've done both patterns, and I love them both!
I just started My Favorite Things vest no. 2 spring edition! Loving it! Using a sport wool and brushed alpaca silk.
That's the one I'm planning on casting on first!
Your thoughts about knitting to decompress at the end of the day really resonated with me. I always make time for knitting in my life, too! I’m also planning to make a vest this fall. I have my eye on the Dige vest by Josee Paquin. The pattern is on the pricier side, but it looks lovely.
Hello, Amy! I'm really thinking that I need to make a special video just on vests. I've had so many viewers recommend vests that they are making or going to make. It would be fun to share that with everyone!
My vote goes to the Sari Nordland vest 😍
I just love the colour of your Felix... I have the pattern but I haven't recast on since having a yarn match failure. I think when I do, it should be in mustard yellow 💛
Thanks for another lovely episode 😊
Hi Amber, I think you can't go wrong with two vests - one plain and one textured - especially if you knit classics, you will wear them forever. Thank you for another great podcast! Your projects are beautiful. My queue always grows after spending time with you. :)
Awww. Thank you so very much, Traci! You're such a sweetheart!
@@alovelyyarn 😘
Thank you for another lovely yarn episode!
You should definitely knit 2 vests, or 3 or four! I have several and love my vests. Recently purchased yarn at the Pittsburgh show with a vest intention!
The Stockholm Pullover by PetiteKnits. Selma of Big Little Knits made one in hot pink last winter. It’s sport weight, top down and just a classic vest. You might want to check it out too.
Your Ankers looks so good on you!
Hi Betty! Thank you for that suggestion! I look that one up as well!
The Lana vest by Irene Lin is also really beautiful if you like cables xx
Oh, thank you for the recommendation. I will look this pattern up!
Your Felix Cardigan is beautiful!! I really, really love that color on you - it is such a happy and cheerful garment 😍 Ooo I'm excited to see if you like the socks using the Patons Kroy yarn and if it works well for that pattern!
Personally, I would go for the plain Schemer Slipover or the Vest No 2 and then the Rosenlund top if you find you really like wearing the plain vest in your wardrobe, but I'm excited to see what you choose! 🤩
Hi Josie! I think I'm actually going to do exactly what you said! A plain vest and a more complicated, interesting one.
Hi Amber,
I think your ideas of a plain vest and a textured is a smart idea.
Be careful of the buttons you use on an acrylic garment if you plan on throwing it in the washer and dryer, they can become broken with the movement going on in the machine.
I love all the socks. Your house socks are so pretty (even with the boo boo) I know you we're concerned about the contrast of the yarn, but those colors look so pretty together.
What do you think about doing just the moss stitch on the sleeves of the Ingrid Sweater? I would love to knit it but I would have to change the sleeves somehow.
Thank you for another lovely episode.
Hello! Yes, Someone else mentioned the ceramic buttons and the washing machine. The website recommends turning the garment inside out if machine washing. I was also thinking that I could throw it in a lingerie bag before putting it in the washing machine. I may, however, decide just to handwash it. Even though it's acrylic and safe to machine wash, it will probably keep its shape better if I hand wash it.
Yes, you could do moss stitch on the sleeves. I think that would be fine. There is short row shaping at the beginning of the sleeves though, so you would just have to adapt that to the moss stitch. I don't think that that would be a problem though if you're comfortable with how short rows work.
I will definitely make another Felix cardigan in a smaller size. I'll have to take my upper bust measurements. Great advice.
Hi Dorothy! Yes! That upper bust measurement is making all of the difference for me. I'm so glad that viewers mentioned it to me!
Good morning, Im so happy I found your podcast. I totally get the attempt to balance all our creative joys. Gardening, painting, cooking, knitting etc.!!! I like you hold knitting as my most preserved spot in my daily routine. I will go back and watch your earlier podcasts. I’m a fairly new podcaster and I always enjoy watching other knitting podcasters. Thanks!
Hello! Thank you so much for watching! I'm so glad that you have enjoyed!
I’m so going to make the lace vest out of Scout.
Isn't it beautiful?
Wonderful episode, Amber. I love your Felix cardigan! It’s beautiful. I definitely want to make one soon. I’m also excited to see which vest(s) you decide on. I like the one with the split hem a lot.
Take care, Erika
Thank you so much, Erika!
Hello from Mounds, Illinois.
Hello, Janet!
if you go to make another Felix, I used the yarn bee I love this yarn and it's fabulous for it!
That's so great to know!
Thanks so much for the heads-up about the decreases in the Ingrid sweater! I've been eyeing it for a bit, but my skill level is definitely not up to figuring out decreases in a pattern by myself. :) Maybe sometime down the road.
Yeah, that sweater really frustrated me, and I've been knitting for awhile.
Your Felix fits you beautifully! And, I love the idea of the turquoise buttons. Love the idea of knitting podcasts in the morning and audiobooks at night.
Hi Ann! Thank you so much!
@@alovelyyarn 💕
I like the first split hem vest and the last one, it is gorgeous! As for buttons I think there were some orange (or red?) and yellow which would look good but anything that contrasts really, it’s a fun cardigan so no boring buttons! Thankyou for another lovely video Amber, it’s always so good to see you. Xx
Hello, Carolyn! Yes, I think it definitely deserves some fun buttons!!!! Thank you so much for watching!
Hi Amber, I like the first split hem vest for a plain one but really like the lacy cable vest too! Definitely knit that one first! I like the crochet top for your daughter too! It looks like fun!😊
Hi Cassandra! Thank you so much for your input!
Lovely work. I'm wanting to make a vest also. We shall see. I have other things in the works.
THank you so much!
Amber…for the vest here are my thoughts….I would definitely pick a do weight or lighter yarn. I have found with the vest I made in Nua sport it gets quite warm as a layer. style wise I think with the first two shirts you showed a plainer style would go better. The last pattern (the Sari Norland one) looks dressier would look better with the last shirt you showed or dresses. Good luck choosing.
Hello! Yes, I agree. I don't want anything too warm. I think I'm going to knit the Vest No. 2 as the plain, more simple vest, and then also knit the Rosenlund vest to wear over dresses. I just feel like I need to knit the Rosenlund. It's so beautiful!
HI amber,,,
You sound super busy,,,
IT is a busy time in the garden,,,for sure,,
Love that first slip over,,,,
Great socks,,,
Look forward to seeing that pattern with kroy,,,
Thanks amber
Take care,
Elaine 🌞🏡🌻,,,
Hi Elaine! Thank you so much!
Very nice video. Thank you!
Suzanne
Thanks so much, Suzanne!
I like the yellow daisy buttons. Felix cardigan looks great on you. Happy you got pattern.
Thank you so much, Patricia! And thank you for voting on a button option!
I love the first and last vest options. Love catching up with you!💛
Another possibility for your vest is Purl SoHo’s Criss Cross Top. I’ve knitted it 2x - one was a gift, the other was for me. We use it as vests. Best thing is that it’s a free pattern. I used a light worsted yarn. It’s quite attractive.
Oh, I'm not familiar with that pattern! Thank you for the recommendation. I'll look it up!
Oooh that’s lovely. I’d not seen that before! Straight into my favourites.
Love those pumpkiny socks… that texture is sooo nice!
Thank you! My daughter is extremely happy to have them now!
Your podcasts are always so calming and inspiring Amber. Thank you so much for sharing 😊 in regards to the vest you are planning on making, the last pattern you shared is quiet lovely. I agree with you, two vests sound like a good idea since one will be more casual and the other one a bit dressier .
Thank you so much, Maria! And, yes, I think that's what I'm going to do. Knit the Vest No. 2 and the Rosenlund one as well.
Start taking evening primrose oil at night. It helps with the hot flashes 😂
Thank you!!!!!!! I completely forgot about that!
I love the idea of a v-neck vest, it gives more options for the type of top worn underneath.
Thank you for your insight, Patti!
Matching Buttons could be crocheted using a plastic ring. Make a slip knot and crochet over the ring and through the slip knot until the ring is covered! Perfect!
That's such a clever idea! Thank you!
I do like the look of a basic, classic vest. But when I saw the picture of the Rosenlund top by Sari Nordlund I went 😱. It is so beautiful! And I agree, wearing it over top of a dress looks lovely. I also just appreciate how feminine it is. I think something like that would work with both a more casual look of collared shirt/jeans or more dressy with a dress or skirt. I hadn't thought of making something like that, but I could definitely see it being useful in my own wardrobe.
Yes, that vest is stunning! I'm going to knit a plain one and then also the Rosenlund vest. I just feel like I really need to do that!
Your Felix cardigan turned out great! I think teal buttons will look really good, too.
Thank you so much, Becky!
Hi, Amber ! Just subscribed but I have watched a lot. I have learned you are very judicious with your spending, but go for it, girl!! Knit a classic plain vest, a textured vest and the last one you showed which would be so pretty over a dress for Sunday. I absolutely never comment on podcasts, but I just felt compelled to try to get you to knit 3 vests!! They won't require that much yarn, and you will use the patterns again Judging by the clothes you shared with us, I really think you need all 3 kinds.
One more thing... your sweater is beautiful but if I were you, and I wanted to knit that pattern again. I would knit the sleeves in stockinet. It is a drop sleeve and there is not all that much space there to fill. Plus, there is already plenty of texture in the body. So, I would do the part I enjoyed (the body) and give myself a break on the sleeves. It will be just as pretty; maybe, more so, because the sleeves make it all a bit too much. It would give the body texture a chance to shine all the more without the distraction of textured sleeves as well. Okay, I've shared my thoughts. Surprised myself!!
Hi Linda! I'm so glad that you took the time to comment, as I really enjoyed reading your insight! I just make take the liberty of knitting three vests. You're right. They won't use much yarn, and the stockinette one will fly off my needles! I think I would get a lot of use out of all of them!
Also, great idea on knitting the sleeves of the Ingrid in stockinette! I think that would be a fine solution to the sleeve decrease issue! Thank you!
I agree with @lindakee, Amber. I think you should make this A Fall Vest Fest.... 😊 You chose such great patterns and they would be so fun to wear. The lacy one would look great with your sheer blouse. Your podcasts do inspire us, more than you realize. I bought the sock pattern that's knit with Barrett wool. I bought 3 skeins of it several years ago and haven't knit with it yet. And, we went on a Aldi search to find on of those bag that you showed in a previous podcast. Lucky, we found one in Kittanning. Also, I bought 2 Haulin' Hoof Farm mushroom buttons. So cute, I couldn't resist. Thanks for making our knitting experience so fun. ❤
@kathyradic3368 a Fall Vest Fest! I love that, Kathy! That would make a great kal hashtag! You're so creative!
I'm glad you find inspiration in my videos. I really do enjoy making them! I have actually been wondering lately why we don't do a local knit night from time to time. There is you and your daughter and Jodi, and I'm sure there are other people in the area who knit or crochet.
@@alovelyyarn Every time we see Jodi at Yarns by Design, we talk about starting a local knit group. We haven't been able to come up with a place to meet. The coffee shop closes too early. Any ideas?
@@kathyradic3368 Yes, that is definitely a problem. I've thought about the same thing.
Hi! I know the hot thing you are talking about....for me it helps reducing carbohydrates...I don't heat up so much
Love your beautiful Felix cardi - it is definitely providing inspiration for me to make one as I have loved that pattern for a long time. The aqua buttons would be perfect on it as well as a little embroidery! Also LOVE the Sari Nordlund vest pattern - gorgeous! Thanks for all the wonderful links!
Thanks so much! Definitely make a Felix cardi! I'm so excited to have it in my wardrobe now!
Another great episode. I made Dorset buttons with the same yarn for my Felix cardigan. I also embroidered a small flower at the back neck and the top of each cuff. Not noticeable but just ‘there’. ❤
Awww, that is such a sweet idea!
Your sweater turned out so beautiful and I love your idea for the buttons!
Thank you! ❤️
Are ceramic buttons machine washable? You might turn your superwash sweater into handwash only.
Good thought. So, I would assume that they are since I can put all of my pottery mugs and bowls in the dishwasher, but that is definitely something I should check on. I suppose it would depend upon the type of glaze they use. Usually firing something in a kiln, hardens ceramics up enough for washing, but I will reach out to them. Thanks so much!
Good Morning Amber -- I so enjoy watching your podcast. You are getting me into the mood of "knitting shortie socks" and like the Knit on by Designs by Deb Buckingham. You mentioned that you could buy all 3 patterns for only $8.50 - will you please direct me to where I can do that ? I only see the individual patterns on Ravelry. Thank you so much !
Sure, Sherry! Here is the link for the sock trio: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-coffeehouse-sock-set
Thank you so much for watching!
Hi Amber - thanks for a lovely podcast❤️ Im knitting the Ingrid sweater in drops Alpaca and drops kid silk. I just started on the sleeves, and I hope I can work it out, because I almost can't wait having it on, now the fall is coming 🤗🍂🧡🤎
The vest I think would be a good first one is the my favorite things v-neck.
Thank you for your input, Sarah!
I am still working on my Felix cardigan. Taking out a few too many rows as I was knitting away and didn’t take time to measure the yoke. 😮.
Oops! That happens sometimes!
Hi Amber, I purchased the Ingrid pattern as soon as it came out because I love the look. Then many people spoke about the sleeve decrease issue and I’ve not started it. I’m hoping that she’ll update the pattern with more details. Who knows. The vest patterns on your list are wonderful. My vote is for one plain and one textured. That will cover all occasions and you should get lots of wear out of both.
Hi Caroline! So you've heard of other people complain about those sleeve decreases too? That makes me feel better. Lol. I questioned by knitting skill level a lot during those sleeves!
Lovely projects Amber and and the buttons you have are so cute can’t wait to see what you end up picking for your Felix cardigan ❤
Thank you so much, Oly!
I would suggest you check the Mini Mock Neck Tank. I think Leslie Friend wore hers as a vest in a recent podcast.
I would looove to see a video on vests! I personally made the Stockholm vest and enjoyed it thoroughly :)
Happy harvest, enjoy the rest of summer x
Hello! I may still do a vest video then. Eventually. I have more saved to my Ravelry faves than I actually talked about on this episode. Thank you so much for watching!
Hi Amber, I just downloaded the Maker Maker vest last week. I plan to start knitting it this week. I'm loving the vest for this fall. Love all of your projects.
Yes, I'm really into vests too! Glad they're making a comeback and there are so many great patterns to choose from! Thanks for watching!
Hi Amber, I'm just finishing a Vest No. 2 and I think it's going to be a very versatile piece in my wardrobe. I've also made the Nevoeiro Vest by Maria G Knits. It has similar detailing to the Schemer Slipover that you like, but it's made using DK weight yarn. Both pairs of your finished socks are lovely.
Hi Sharon! That's so great to hear that you love yours. I'm really leaning towards that one, and then maybe making one of the more complicated, textured vests as well. Thank you so much for watching!
I am on board with Team Vest this Fall! I plan to cast on a couple of sweaters but 2 vests I have in my library that are similar to what you are looking at are Vestover V and Hermeline. I will see if I get to those but think I will start with Skeindeer’s Academic vest and play with colorwork.
I saw the Academic vest and thought about adding that one to my list too, but I think I'll wear simpler vests more than a colorwork one. It is beautiful though and would be so fun to make!
I think your Ingrid sweater is beautiful. Too bad the designer didn’t do a better job of the diamonds on the sleeves. I wonder if the designer would welcome your feedback on her instructions?
Thank you so much! It's almost completed, and I look forward to wearing it!
I did 2 on your list, sille and vest no. 2. I love the sille more but I use both of them a lot during winter. Because i live in Vegas and it doesn't really get too cold here.
Hello Giselle! Thanks for this info! What makes you like the Sille more? The fit? The look of it? I might actually make both. Lol.
@alovelyyarn the fit because it's really a DK guage if you check the pattern. This is an old one, and she used to label it as worsted weight. I used holst garn super soft held twice in the same brown color as hers. I used a fingering weight and a mohair for the vest #2. It's a looser fit than sille, but i like it over dresses. Sille is great with shirts and jeans.
@@gisellejoseph2936 thanks for this info!
When you get those flashes of heat open the door to the freezer and stick your head in there. I know from experience that it works.😂
Hahahahaha! I'll keep that in mind, Lana!
??? When you use sport weight yarn for socks...what size needles do you uae? TIA
Love ur videos so glad qe get to see more of u lately! 💗
Hello! I use a US size 2. I think that's a 2.75mm?
I can’t pick a favorite of the vests
If symmetry in a pattern is that important to you why not consider not decreasing until a fast decrease at the cuff. Otherwise, just remember that the decreases are at the seam that most people never see.
That is a good idea, Deborah!
Hi Amber,
Your Felix Cardigan is beautiful. I have been inspired by you to knit one also. This is my first cardigan. I have used Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee YARN ID in the color Oats. I swatched and got gauge. I have a couple of questions, if you don’t mind answering. 1. Which cast on method did you use for the underarms? 2. How do you deal with the holes I often see in knit garments in the underarm area? Thanks. Have a beautiful week. Sharon
Hi Sharon! I just pick up stitches along the under arm, so I'm not really doing a cast-on. Just sticking my needle through the loops that are along the underarm edge and picking up yarn and drawing it through each loop. Also, I always have holes when I knit sweaters, so I always leave long tails when I pick up stitches so I can go back and sew all of those holes shut. I hope that all makes sense.
Love your yellow sweater, did you do the w&t or german short rows?
Hello Eva! I should have mentioned that. I always use German short rows. I think that they look neater, and I don't get the little holes that I get with w&t.
Ugh, I cast on an Ingrid Sweater and turned on your podcast. I'm totally not looking forward to the sleeve decreases. What do you think would happen if I didn't do any decreases in that section of the sleeve? Do you think it would be too poofy since the ribbed sections draw in so much? Perhaps I'll just know from your experience that I won't be able to achieve the diamonds. I completely agree, 8-10 dollars for a pattern should include these details. I knit the baby Ingrid which was a dream, no decreases or increases!!
Hi Laurie! So you decrease 8 rounds which means you're decreasing a total of 16 stitches throughout the sleeve. I think it would probably be fine if you waited until the very end and did a quick decrease an achieved a balloon sleeve look. I also might consider knitting the sleeves in just plain stockinette. And, perhaps it's just me who find the sleeve decreases difficult. You may do it and not have a problem at all!
just found a video on YT showing how to do the sleeve decreases, however this knitters didn't look much different than yours, and hers wasn't as stunning a color!!@@alovelyyarn
Hi, I have a question for you today. Did you add short rows on your Anker’s summer top? I have the pattern for a very long time and started one in Yarn Bee Cloe and I think I stopped where I was about to divide for sleeves but the look of the yoke at that stage make me put it on indefinite hold. I really like the way yours look and I have some cotton blend yarns in my stash that would work.
For the bottom of your cardigan I think the ones teal with some little spots in some kind of yellow would look gorgeous. Thank you
Hello! No, I did not add short rows to it. I usually like short rows for the extra length in the back, but it doesn't bother me with this top. I actually really like how it fits, and I would make it the same exact way if I knit it again. Thank you so much for watching!

do you post your finished projects on ravelry?
Hi Amber...I've got my Ranunculus sweater at the near edge part.of the bottom knitting part...I'm thinking of making a turned up hem to give weight....Do you think it would be okay ...??
Yes, i don't see why it wouldn't work. Give it a try!
Hi Amber, I have a question for you. I want to make the Felix cardigan. Question for you about the size. I measured under my arms as instructed, but that is a small. I normally wear a large. Thank you!
I used my upper chest measurement which was 35 inches, and I knitted the smallest size. It fits me great! A little roomy, not tight at all, but not sloppy either.
Hi Amber, love you projects and conversation , but volume is very low....can hardly hear you....🙃
Oh, I'm so sorry. Most people can hear me fine, but there have been a few people who comment and say my volume is very low. I am planning on buying a proper microphone, so I'm hoping that will rectify the issue.
Hi. Just curious - what size needles do you use with Kroy? Are used to use 2.5mm w/a 60 st cast on but lately I’ve switched it to a 2.75 mm with a 56 cast on and they fit great and they’re still thick and warm and amazing (and it’s quicker) 😏
*I used to use - not “are”. 🙄
So, in the past I have used a US size 1 or 1 1/2. I think that size 1 is equivalent to 2.25? However, for this pattern, I am going to be using a 2.75 (US 2) with a 56 stitch cast on. I think it will be perfect.
I hate to tell you, unless you go on complete estrogen replacement, you will deal with hot flashes and the sweating for decades.
Oh no! My mom didn't have too rough of a transition into menopause. Mine seems to be going a little bit bumpier than hers did. I'm about two years into perimenopause.
