    From the first to final scene, I was completely immersed in the movie. Several comic books are present in this movie - The Long Halloween, Year two, some elements from Court of owls, Earth One, E.nygma...
    This movie is a puzzle to be resolved and has to be treated like that. Every shade, every aspect, every detail is crucial to one thing - the Batman has to become a symbol of hope.

    • @saska83
      @saska83 2 роки тому +6

      I would add other things - I think that Joker will be the next villain, maybe together with Riddler like in one comic. Or Joker will make a mess all alone not only to Batman but to all criminals including Oswald.
      When comes to Selina, I think she will come back for some reason and we will have more deeper connection with Bruce once she will realise who is he.
      Third, I liked the tech part of Batman, a bit rudimentary but effective. Especially one with the eye.
      About Hush, hmmmm, I see him in the third installment.

      I think they took more from Year one versus Year 2. Year 2 had the Reaper in it. A Similar character to the one from Mask of the Phantasm.

This rich powerful man tells his mobster buddy about a problem reporter but he had NO IDEA someone would die… wow. What a tale. I think not alfred lol. This movie was like you open a comic book reading for 3 hours and close it with a feeling of joy.A movie that real fans appriciate it but I must say I saw problems in different aspects of the movie.For example did anyone saw bad cut between the scene that Batman lands after gliding and then suddenly you see Batman on top of that building with his cake waiting for Gordon?how deep were actors emotions?we’re really scared of riddler compare to joker in dark knight?Was the big plan at the end that big?Was catwoman really scarred by her friends death to kill her father?Batman use fear and shadows as a tool,How much did he used it after the first fight?The foot steps were heavy Then he suddenly disappears with no noise at all!And many more…
    But as a real comic book movie it was a master piece.

    • @titan2k928
      @titan2k928 2 роки тому +6

      Tbh most of these complaints are nonsense. Yes the final plan to flood AN ENTIRE city, killing thousands is quite big. Catwoman wanted to kill her father not only because she was scared but because of anger, he not only killed her friend, killed her mother, and was neglectful her entire life. Considering he wasn’t facing regular crime for most of the movie, Batman had no reason to really use fear and the shadows since he was mainly going to post crime scenes and solving riddles.

    On the odd occasion films resonate with you, making you ponder the detail and want to dive in deeper to explore the world created on screen…this is one of those films. Interestingly enough as this film focuses heavily on a true detective story, it compelled me to rewatch another film (far removed from the superhero comic universe) that lures the viewer on a parallel narrative and had a similar impact on me. Dirty Harry…featuring a psychopathic villain ‘the Scorpio killer’ who taunts the authorities and our hero, ‘inspector Callahan’ played by Clint Eastwood, with notes and phone calls. Our villain Andrew Robinson who is sufficiently creepy looks starting similar to Paul Dano, is also apprehended in the third reel, although the story’s climax is yet to be fully realised. The city of San Francisco also is a prominent character…check it out, this cat & mouse- cop/villain story was instrumental for my lifelong fascination with film, irrespective of genre.

    You're right, Joker is best saved for the third film. A trilogy's formula is intro -> bridge -> finale. This movie built the world and started Bruce's transformation from boogeyman to hero. The next will explore Batman's development, so he'll have earned victory against the archenemy in the third.
    I think the sequel's rouges should be Scarecrow and Mr. Freeze, because they are dark reflections of Batman's fear tactics and broken heart. They'll be the goons of a mystery villain (top choices are Hush or Hugo Strange), who's working for the third movie's threat: the Court of Owls. Joker wanting to take down the Court so chaos prevails over order appeals to me, so Batman has to fight both. This movie would also introduce Robin and start the Batfamily.

    This is such an underrated film. The whole singular idea, by Matt Reeves, that this is a man who is unhinged and unhealthily obsessed with fighting the criminal element at night who is constantly beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands and with his unlimited amount of vast resources at his disposal. All he sees in the criminal element, in this corrupt town that his family helped to build and found dating back to the late 1800s, are the people who killed his parents as a young child making him an orphan.
    So, he dons the mantle of that which he fears the most, in the form of the Batman, after training for the majority of his life to rid his city of the evil that took his parent's lives. He dosen't know who was responsible for killing Thomas and Martha Wayne so every criminal he sees, to him, is the criminal that killed his parents on that fateful night when he was only 10 years old. He is addicted to this mission, like a drug, so as both Bruce and Batman, he spends all of his time, trying to succeed in this impossible task he has set up for himself. That's why he never sees the light of day as Billionaire Bruce Wayne and is a social outcast and pariah. He is a man driven by vengeance; by revenge. By the end of this journey, as we see Bruce on a physical, mental, emotional and psychological level and transform from a young, naive, impatient man who makes mistakes still early in his career as a crime fighter we see him then become something else by the end...a symbol of hope, an ideal, a form of inspiration that makes criminals terrified to step out at night and commit their atrocities that makes Gotham City one of the worst places to call home. A city with a history and a foundation steeped in corruption and crime that ties back to the Wayne family and and their vast fortune. It also plants the seeds that will give him the inspiration to step out in the light of day to transform into the billionaire, playboy industrialist more interested in dating models and driving fast cars in order to hide in plain sight so no one would be able to distinguish Bruce Wayme is actually the Batman. A man consumed by vengeance who transforms into a symbol of hope. Obviously a film inspired by the comic book mythos and Arkham video game series and Batman animated series from the 1990s.
    Ironically, a film consisting of character arc transformations and worldbuilding moments that is actually one of the most faithful Batman comic book movies to the original source material in the 1940s. Such as Detective comics issue 27 from 1937 and batman issue 1 in 1940 created by Bob kane, Bill finger and Jerry Robinson.
    Then, the new 52 comics such as court of owls and Zero year by tomeu morey, john ottley, Jim lee, Scott Snyder. Batman year one by jim lee, David Mazuchelli and Frank miller as well as Batman: the long halloween and Batman: ego and other tales. This essay is lterally just scratching the surface of why it's actually one of the best batman films yet up their with the likes of the Dark knight from 2008.

    when he is caught and has his confrontation with batman in the asylum he freaks out because batman didnt find his final clue in the apartment, then he goes back to his apartment and with the help of the officer he finds out about the carpet and the password and the explosive cars to sink gotham and kill the new mayor and then the bombs go off and the final fight begins, but my question is if batman had found out the clue before his confrontation in the asylum then he and the police would have had the information of the bombs and the attack of the riddlers goons much earlier than before so they would have prevented the whole thing, i only have watched the movie once and i am planning to seeing it again so maybe i missed something

    The more I think about it, the more I hate that Arkham scene at the end and wish it wasn't there. Also, that's is no Joker that I'm willing to acknowledge.
    I don't any movie has really gotten the Joker right. He needs to be seductively charismatic, dangerously competent, eloquently articulate, Machiavellianly manipulative, ferociously witty and ruthlessly vicious while also being unpredictably anarchists. Like Tyler Durdan from Fight Club meets Mickey Rourke in Nine And A Half Weeks meets Perry Farrell from Jane's Addiction meets Charles Manson meets Ted Bundy.
    The Joker seduces his own psychiatrist in Harley Quinn and manipulates her to aid his escape, throwing her entire lot in with his ambitions. Barry Koeghan simply is not capable of portraying that type of verile rockstar magnatism.
    I'd cast either Clifton Collins Jr or Vincent Gallo. Maybe Austin Butler if you want to skew young.

    Why does riddler try to kill Bruce with the bomb when his plan still needs batman to out falcone? And he says to Bruce in prison that they’ve been a team all along, he also says “noooo this isn’t what you’re supposed to say/ how it’s supposed to go” at this point, even tho he should of actually expected Bruce to be dead , no? It’s the only plot point I don’t get

    Brilliant film. Very close to being a perfect film a la Godfather or Goodfellas.The Joker scene is the ONLY part of the movie that wasn't perfectly executed. Honestly, I didn't like it at all.. it was cheesy. If they had gotten rid of that scene, I'd give this movie a straight 10/10. But because of it, I give it a 9.85/10.

    I don't believe any of these reviews are in good faith I think it's just part of the cottage industry of UA-cam reviews unfortunately.. and stop calling this a year one story it's literally a year 2 story.... it could have been brilliant if it wasn't so lazy and empty and unfulfilled and reliant on 20-minute chunks of expositional dialogue in order for there to even suggest a narrative.. I really would have been great if they would have just done Year One almost by the book and got out of this way would have had a better product all the elements are there for something but the writing was bad and the characters were completely under veloped and lame... Colin Farrell wasted under all that getup trying to rely on the hackneyed trope of an unrecognizable star, his method acting himself into a caricature

    I thought movie had potential. It wasn't as great. I waited 3 long years. It wasn't even a detective movie like i hoped. We all knew who the rat was. It wasnt a surprise. Batman literally puts all the photos on the ground and spray paints the floor. I thought he was gonna come up with a curcial clue or something but nothing happened loool. The ending was also so basic.

    You didn't explain "Sea Walls"
    an ending that makes sense doesn't need to be explained. In fact, you weren't explaining anything. You were trying to rationalise the ending and trying to convince people to buy into your rational.
    The idea that you and others believe that people need you to explain something to them, is a bit condescending.

    Selina and batman relationship forced. Alfred not enough time for relationship. Too much music. Uninspired score. Darth Vader theame. Nirvana out if place. This movie was called THE CROW 20 years ago. Might as well because BATMAN CANT DIE. FLIMSY armor. Shoot the head! Fly into a bus and survive? Don't worry he's got a magical green potion that makes him angry. Get electrocuted? Why not. Oh Gotham is surrounded by water walls? And of course let's put to psychopaths together in prison. Paul dano gets the Razzie. Penguin was the only thing interesting. Colin's performance. Wow...
