Hey, love your videos and rewatching your video above brought me to watch the movie again and I think I found something.
So, in the Batman x Riddler scene where Bruce hears him say his name over and over, it brings us to think he knows Batmans identity. However, when the conversation proceeds, he skims it off by saying he was the only target they didn't get. - allowing us and everyone in the cinema hear Bruce take that breath of alleviation.
      HOWEVER..
when the scene starts, and they see each other, Riddler says "I told you I'd see you in Hell", remembering the message he sent Bruce Wayne. thus making you think...
IF that's the case, Riddler KNOWS Batmans Identity, but rather have kept it to himself, and if you ask me, this riddler portrayed by Paul Dano is so smart, we can see him being Hush, which is one fantastic story.
but then again, it could be a mistake.. Let me know if you already knew about this and I'll take down the comment.
      Thx

This ain’t a comic book movie… this is a graphic novel movie. Really, really blown away. 3hours of pure passion - elements of noir, Chinatown, Zodiac, silence of the lambs, Seven, The Crow, horror movies… A character driven masterpiece. The cinematography, sound design, lighting, inspirations… even the Colour of Money reference. Normally these films focus on the villain - but to have Batman the focus for 75% of the movie was brave and it worked. Just sooooo good. Best Batman movie, best Batman, best comic/novel movie… WOW

I respectfully disagree. I found the 3 hour run time way too long. Catwomen and riddler were just bad. Falcone was badly casted. Gordon was kind of just there. I do think Robert and Colin were great. But everything else just fell short. I found myself bored at times. And even checked my phone to see how much time was left. Sadly I was only 2 hours in at that point. Hopefully their sequel or flush out all this stuff and hopefully they'll recast that catwomen. We can only hope.

People are allowed to feel how they want to feel about The Batman. The only thing i hate is that people keep comparing it to the Dark Knight, when the goal should have never been for it to be better. TDK is a SEQUEL to Batman Begins. Let’s compare The Batman to Batman Begins; surely it is a much better film. The Batman sets up a great universe with the possibility of an EVEN BETTER sequel. I am betting that Battinson’s trilogy will be the best trilogy of Batman films we’ve seen.

Love the ending, after Batman’s famous quote “I’m Vengeance” is taken into quite serious turn by several people using it in their own way. Catwoman wanting to kill her father and Riddler impersonators. And the way he seems to drop it entirely is by being actual HERO at the end, when he lights up the flare. People are shown not trusting him until the little boy takes the first step, and others follow him, as Batman leads them out of the darkness. And when he carried that lady to the chopper, she didn’t want to let go, but she only lets go after being comforted by Batman.

Thats the reason why in my opinion this is the best Batman we got so far. It is the we he transformed from vengeance vigilante to the hero and symbol of hope he actually should be. I can see people drawing bat signs on their doors in a rise of high crime to somehow protect themselves because they actually trust in batman to protect them and not just be a self righteous masked figure. :D Thats the point the christian bale Batman only reached in the end of the trilogy by faking his death. :-/ Don’t misunderstand me Christian Bale ist still the better Batman by performing the role.

This movie had me blown away. The characters, the story, the visuals, the score was PERFECT for this version of Batman. I will say, some things were a little drawn out and slow, but I don’t believe we would’ve gotten as good of an understanding for the city and characters that are already established. That opening scene with the riddler PERFECTLY establishes the tone and the direction of where we’re going to be for the next 3 hours and then hearing Batman / Bruce Wayne’s voice over, put the biggest smile on my face, and seeing how much Gotham’s criminals fear the Batman within that scene plus the score playing as he walks out of the darkness literally made my eyes start watering. This movie is art, truly a masterpiece. Robert Pattinson is my favorite Batman, he is The Batman. Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman is my favorite live action on screen adaptation for sure, same with Collin Ferrel and Paul Dano as the penguin and riddler (and the penguin isn’t even in his power yet). Jeffrey Wright KILLED it as Gordon and I absolutely loved his and Batman’s dynamic throughout the movie. I would’ve loved more with Alfred and Bruce, but i honestly understand why some of that probably had to be sacrificed in order to tell the story properly without it being a 4 hour movie (that was the original runtime). We wanted a detective Batman movie and Matt Reeves delivered, it was so cool being able to see him actually investigating and doing a lot of detective work, he’s the worlds greatest detective and it’s shown here. I want more of this Batman and more of this story (even though that joker cameo at the end kind of felt shoehorned in there), I’m so excited to get more of this world and characters. This is truly the best, if not, a VERY VERY close second to TDK.

I just got back from seeing this in the theater...hands down the best Batman movie ever made. The 3 hour runtime did not feel long at all and the way the detective scenes were shot were amazing. Matt Reeves is a genius and just nailed the Batman character perfectly. He even included a uncharacteristic mistake that Batman made during his investigation which I thought was absolutely brilliant because this is a young Batman who would be more likely to make mistakes because he's not as seasoned just yet.

I love how Batman breaks down the riddles really quickly, so I am glad Matt showcased the intelligence of Batman that was so desperately missing in past movies as well as his detective skills. His buddy cop with Gordon throughout was amazing
He is intelligent but still make mistakes because he is still young, he is still reckless and his anger needs to be restraint at times , he isn’t invincible and couple of gun shots wears him down
He might not know it all, but he is becoming the world”s greatest detective , we see that unfold in this whole trilogy

I loved how even though the Riddler himself was behind bars, with no way out, he was still a huge threat, having zealots crazy enough to form an army of him. The Batman is truly a world’s greatest detective movie, something I don’t think we’ve ever gotten before. Sure, every Batman movie has at least 1 or 2 detective scenes, but this one had several, which took up the majority of the runtime. The darkness is also the closest we’ve come to the comics for a Batman movie. Even The Dark Knight trilogy wasn’t as scary as this movie alone. This. Is. The parallels were delightful, like how in all the times Batman told Selina to take care, she always said, "I can take care of myself" Except in their final exchange, she didn't respond. Which shows the development of their relationship and certain trust. Then the scene where they go back to Selinas apartment, they do so together. Because their goals are the same. And in the end, they go together until they part their separate ways. Symbolizing their core differences.
The penguin walk when he's tied up, was such a great touch.
The Riddler wanted them both to be in Arkham together and in his mind, they did everything together. Complementing eachother every step of the way.
And I think a certain message can be found. Which is worse? The acts of the Riddler? Or the acts of corruption enacted by the people in power?

??? When Rachel died… Harvey got burned viciously… etc if they added blood more so like you’re saying to those movies it would have gone on to be the best comic film of all time. The fact that Nolan’s Batman has more gadgets… detective wise too. And I understand this is his 2nd year as Batman and finding his way. I loved the movie but it just has more zodiac killer mixed with Batman’s detective comics. True to the comics but all in all it just didn’t have that solid villain most movies need. There weren’t any iconic scenes on par with dark knight… it has its moments but not on level with dark knight

Rewatching the Nolan trilogy, my biggest problem is the fight scenes. They are all shaky cam cuts, and are pretty terrible imo. And I can no longer stop hearing Pete Holmes when I hear Christian Bale. His batman voice is so meme-able at this point. The Dark Knight is still a fantastic movie, but not without its flaws. Without Heath, it would not have been considered as brilliant as it is.

@@macnero4932 I get you. The Batman is a film noir detective story. The fights were not the focus, but when he did, it was way better shot or choreographed as you said. I absolutely hate the tumbler as the batmobile. Battinsons batmobile is way better imo along with the chase scene. I think the prequel comic helps knowing how he built it himself. And the reveal was amazing. The sound of it revving up gave me chills. Plus it didn't destroy the whole city like the tumbler did, which I always laugh at him jumping roof to roof causing thousands of dollars of damage. But to each there own. Let's all just be happy that we get all these variations of such a beloved character. I'm just so excited to see what Matt Reeves does with this universe going forward.

No one mentioned the guy running for mayor , his kid potentially being Robin. Great take on Batman being a detective. The most awesome part of the movie is Batman helping the people at the end which turned him from vigilante to justice really getting a better understanding of why he wears the cape.

I completely agree with your assessment, in like EVERY way lol... I instantly tried to calm myself down from the hype after I walked out of the theater yesterday, and when I finally did, I said to myself, "ok. How does it compare to The Dark Knight...?"
And the only answer I could come up with was that I really couldn't compare them...
THE BATMAN is the Batman movie for hardcore, adult, BATMAN fans. This is the style, version, and feel of Batman that we've wanted to see for a long time. It was Silence of the Lambs meets Se7en meets Zodiac meets Year One meets Long Halloween lol...it was a "whodunnit" so to speak, with intense Batman fight scenes sprinkled throughout. I felt like standing up and cheering after the 1st 20 min or so, after we meet the Riddler and are introduced to Batman...and though the "wham BAM thrill ride!" of it all was minimal, the 1st 80 min or so, I just felt BLOWN AWAY. I couldn't believe what I was seeing....
I'm seeing it again tomorrow (with 3 other people who didn't see it, so that's always fun),,so I feel I may have a better grasp on if I believe it is indeed THE BEST, or equal to, or just a hair under TDK...
But my immediate impressions is just like I had been saying in comments on this very channel, as well as others, for months; that this is THE definitive Batman movie AND performance, and that all other future Batman movies will need to follow this style-- after, of course, Matt and Robert are done with Batman (which I hope they aren't for a lonnnnnng time!)

He is the reason why I stopped looking down on superheroes and started enjoying them. I just really wish he were here to see this when he was older (oh! I love how Reeves stuck to his convictions on how he wanted to portray Batman and have the Batman movie stand alone instead of finding a way how it can fit with the DC cinematic universe. I'm sure someone will complain about the lack of a martial artist Batman but when people are trying to kill you with sharps objects and guns a roundhouse kick won't be effective. After Robert Pattinson's performance he's owed an apology and required viewing of the movies he's done since Twilight. He was the definitive Batman in this film. Captured the essence of the character and I'm sure moving forward he'll develop the Bruce Wayne persona. Zoe crushed her role. Easily the best Selina Catwoman we've seen on film. Paul Dano was brilliant. The Riddler was an unhinged evil genius. His motivations weren't super original but damn did he nail his character. No scene was wasted in and I wouldn't mind a 4 hour Batman movie if Matt Reeves is at the helm. The Batman was film perfection. I watched it online so now I'm definitely heading to the Theater.

I thought it was good, not great. Too talkie at times, a little too long and not enough excitement. I would have liked a little more action. I think I've seen all the best scenes already in the trailers and promo material. That car chase with the Penguin was a lot of fun and awesome but I had already seen that in the trailer!

Pros: I was impressed with Robert Pattinson's performance. He did an outstanding job as Batman! People who doubted him can eat it.
The focus of Batman is what I've always wanted in a Batman movie. Batman had more screen time than any Bat flick.
I have to admire Colin Ferrell. Never would have known he played Penguin. Excellent job.
Zoe did a great job as Catwoman.
I have to give credit to Michael Giacchino. Outstanding scoring. Very inspirational and I loved that the themes reminded me alot of Shirley Walkers the animated series, Danny Elfmans score and even during the last battle I heard a 60s Batman reference. Super cool.
Cons: Can't watch a film anymore without someone bring racism into a discussion. Like just stop. Racism will continue if it is constantly being talked about.
Riddler in my opinion wasn't as sinister as I expected, annoying really. Riddles weren't difficult to solve as if Dr. Seuss made them. Jokers riddle was more clever. Haha and he isn't the Riddler.
Most of Batmans major moments were shot in the teaser and final trailers during the promotion of the movie which was disappointing. Figured we would get some more action scenes.
Finally the backstop of the Wayne family was just disappointing. Thomas and Martha should be the light of the city but really just made their backstory corrupt. I didn't like that.
Overall I enjoyed the movie. The work that Matt Reeves delivered spite covid holdbacks the movie was very impressive. I'm looking forward to what's to come with the sequels. I gotta say that I thought I was going to have a hard time sitting through nearly a 3 hour movie but I held on no sweat. The content shown kept me in tune the whole way through and that is what makes this Batman so special. It took risks and made something truly special. If I were to rate this I'd give it a 8/10 easy. Go check it out for yourselves. Some say it was a masterpiece and I respect that but I'm still in favor of The Dark Knight as the best Batman thus so far.

Thought that they were going to reveal The Riddler to be the son of the threatened/killed journalist, felt like it would justify his motivations even more so.
Also, maybe the funniest moment: Oswald (with his legs tied up) walking like a penguin after Bruce and Gordon leave him alone having figured out the rata alada thing.

    • @tsnoob4669
      @tsnoob4669 2 роки тому

It's possible that Riddler would inspire the Journalist's son to become Hush, since Edward Elliot (the journalist) is the the father of Thomas Elliot, the villain Hush, in the comics.
It's the perfect setup for a sequel where Batman struggles against Hush stealing Bruce Wayne's identity, which can cause many problems for him since he has a major grudge against Bruce.

Fully agree 10/10, I watched it a few hours ago. I loved the inspiration that they pulled things from and for me it’s the best Batman movie/ Batman portrayal. I agree with the comparison between the dark knight being more of a “blockbuster” as well. This is way more niche with its genre , but it’s way better imo.

I was absolutely blown away by this movie. I feel like this is the Batman movie I've always been waiting for.
Reeves totally understood the dynamic and relationship between Batman and Catwoman, but also between Gordon and Batman. It is dark and gritty like a Batman movie should be.
I'm also so happy that they showed how much the bat symbol instills fear in criminals.

I went in with absolutely zero expectations considering DCs track record but man, this was pretty DAMN good. Not a good Bruce Wayne by any means but Robert Battinbat pulled off Batsy! And I think the Riddler just matched Ledger's Joker, go ahead and @ me internet. That's how good he was.
Better than Dark Knight Rises but not as good as Dark Knight would be a fair assessment
