Good instructions! Thanks! I didn't know what to do with the little silver cap at the end of my brake line. I would have crammed it into the brake master cylinder without removing it!!
I just installed my zoom system and I tell you, I was not expecting the power it has. This is the first time using hydraulics. I wasn’t ready for that!😂
Thank you! I live near hills and my Lectric XP 2.0 brakes seem like they aren't strong enough sometimes. This is an important upgrade for me to consider and I found this video extremely helpful.
thank you sir appreciate that
I just installed my Zoom double piston brakes on my Sondors Mad Mod replacing the leaky, stock Zoom single pistons that would fill with air constantly. I ordered red though and I got black😕.
What length hydraulic brake lines did you use for the front and rear lectric 2.0?
Great video! I’m looking to add this to my XP 3.0. Will I also need that spacer on the front wheel? Why is the space are not needed at the rear wheel?
Rear wheel is centered with the spacing for the gears as well. The spokes are further from the mount.
Honestly, we have seen many different tolerances for build spec on the Lectric bikes. So it is anticipated that you will have some form of spacing for your axle or disc.
Thank You!
There are actually rotor shims available for a more stable mount instead of washers.
Thanks Doug, we are aware and have shared them.
In this instance it is the distance of the caliper to the spokes not the rotor separation
I'm not understanding the need for the rotor spacers AND a washer. Won't that take the distance from the rotor to the caliper too far?
@@robjgarc It appears that if you use the 180mm front rotor, you do not need any shims for the rotor. You may have to shim the axle with one or two washers. You will have to assemble and check. I think it depends on the bike to some degree.
Is the rear hose long enough for the step-thru 2? (And to be able to still remove the handbars and fold)?
Yes. you will want to be mindful of the hoses when folding. Make sure they don’t kink
Hey Matt, I’m doing the same upgrade to my XP 3.0, and you were right I need some spacing to clear the spokes. You said you used a 1/2” washer as a shim on the front axle. I’m assuming it’s 1/2” ID. Do you know the OD and the thickness of that washer? Also, I am going to use an equivalent thickness rotor spacer to eliminate the lateral difference created by the 1/2” axle washer. What do you think? Love your channel!
Hi Richard. Thickness is about 2mm. 1/2” is ID. OD is approximately 1” but use what works.
Keep in mind tolerances vary through the bikes so what is good for one many not work for the other.
Thanks Matt, I think the 2 mm thickness will probably work for me because the spokes just barely grazes the back of the caliper. So I’m going with a M10 flat washer that is 2 mm thick, and two 1 mm rotor shims. Just waiting on the shims, and hoping this does the trick. I really do like your videos as I am just getting into E biking. Thanks for all your help!
@@Richard-qx8jk I'm planning on doing exactly the same as you. Curious if you've finished this project and if you have any tips or advice for the 3.0? This is my first time with an ebike and working with brakes
@@Richard-qx8jk Did you end up using both 1mm rotor shims and the 2mm washer to clear the spokes?
If only there was a way to upgrade to add a front hub motor.... smh it is crazy to me that there is literally no 20x3 front or rear motor kit that exists and no one on YT has made an actual tutorial on how to do so
How come adding a washer doesn't make the caliper off-center to the rotor? And what tires? I want 3" road tires. Hard to find to replace dumb knobbies everyone sells that aren't good for the road nor are they "off road" suitable bikes except maybe a beach.....
Those tires came from a Rad Power Bikes e-bike.
The angle offset is negligible, but the lateral offset gives it just enough space to clear the spokes
It would have been a lot easier to simple install the Zoom hydraulic calibers only, I think they’re sealed so you never have to worry about air in your line.
Thanks Bob.
Here you go, if you need a video for that.

FYI - XP 3.0 now comes standard with hydraulic brakes going forward, no extra cost - still $999. Current 3.0 owners can also upgrade for free!

whats the difference between the red zoom breaks and the blue ones you have on the bike
The red brakes are true hydraulic brakes with mineral oil in the fluid lines between the handle and caliper.
Is there a reason why you did not change (upgrade) the rear rotor to the 180 and left the 160 in place ? Just Curious .....
I am going to upgrade my 2.0 and was wondering why ....... in case i want to do it the same way .
The stopping power is great. The majority is needed up front.
To be honest, we didn’t want to deal with the rear wheel removal etc. Make no mistake they still work, very well.
@@ElectricAllWheel That is what i thought but i just wanted to make sure. I have been looking for a kit like this for some time and finally you have showed me the way . Thanks for the info and by the way i also have your battery balance kit i have to install ...... I live in NJ and it is still a lil bit too cold to go out for a ride let alone do any upgrades on the bike .
Keep up the great info you come out with !
Does it have power cut off when you apply brake?
Yes, they are Ebike hydraulic brakes.
So new cutting of the hoses needed?
We didn’t cut any hoses
what number or style are the red breaks thanks
The brakes are 2-pin. The link to the brakes is in the video description
These better than XTECH HB-100? Just curious thanks
Way better. Almost too good
im lost if its plug and play why are you changing the cables
They are hydraulic hoses rather than cables
Where you get your tubing to hide cables? What size you use?
I couldn't find it either.

@@ElectricAllWheelThanks!
Can someone find a link to these breaks? I can't find one in the comments.
Thank you in advance.
Hope this helps!

Will this work on XP 2.0 Th?
Yes
LOL This guy thinks Lectric is a U.S. company that makes their own bikes. Someone should tell him that they are made by a Chinese company under a different name. 😂
