I'm glad that overall you liked it, Bryan! This track is one of their weirdest, honestly, but still a lot of the points you cover actually make sense with the concept of the track (and album) it is on. The Space Cowboy is meant to be an ancient lifeforce that's supposed to have lived into every living creature since the dawn of time. This force controlls us and pushes us, specially when we are in survival mode. The character of the song is trying to reach this entity by introspection, going into his own mind. The chorus is meant to be a warning by his own mind to stop picking into this beast because he won't like what he'll find. So there comes a lot of the contrast and ambiguity you hear on the song. This track is the opening track, there's another 15 minute track that closes the record and then three 4 to 6 minute tracks in the middle. Their sound is very eclectic honestly.
Gazpacho does have lots of shorter tracks, so I'll probably suggest something different if there's any week I can get them recommended, or whenever SS are open again.
I´ll keep asking for "nevermore - this godless endeavor" now and then. One of these days! ^^
This
wow thanks for reacting to GAZPACHO. You should listen to their album "Demon" (maybe off-cam), it's considered as their best album.
And now think about that Gazpacho are just hobby musicians and have regular jobs but their music and performance is very professional. They could do it full-time.
Thanks Santiago! I just discovered this band fairly recently so I'm super excited for this. Another example of something different for the channel for Bryan to check out. Love it.
Since you would like a shorter song, just keep listening to the album this track is on which this song is the 1st track. The next two songs are also great and less than 5 minutes long.
First Gazpacho song I liked since Tick Tock / The Walk. Maybe I need to relisten to them.
Solid track, nice request 🤟
don't worry Brian my selection is only like 10 min 😂
some ideas for you:
Birds And Buildings - Birds Flying Into Buildings (2008)
Happy The Man - Stumpy Meets The Firecracker In Stencil Forest (1977)
Happy The Man - Ibby It Is (1978)
Crack The Sky - Ice (1975)
Panzerballett - FrantiK Nervesaw Massacre (2015)
Panzerballett - Zehrfunk (2012)
Haha, soon as it finished I thought to myself "that was a trip," and you said the same thing! Such a trip that I feel guilty for not listening to it stoned. Not sure how well the whole thing holds together, but lots of interesting ideas and sections. Definitely has me interested to hear more from them.
Hello new subscriber here. I think your channel touches on cool music that not everyone tends to react to (and I not even know half of the stuff that is here) and the feedback related to music in general is cool too. That being said, maybe you should explore a bit of a band called BAK, but (for obvious reasons) is hard to look it up on YT whithout having in mind a specific track so here is one : Life and Perception part 1& 2 (16 min 51 sec) It is oriental metal (in english) but IMO with a very unique sound. Cheers :)
Listen to Gazpacho - Sapien. The other long track from the same album as Space Cowboy.
ANOTHER long epic!?!? Wow we really hit the jackpot this week
I know I'm late to the party, but you HAVE to listen to their album Demon. It's the perfect showcase of their sound, and man how good it is when they nail it. It's easily in my top 5 albums of all time. Death Room is their best song in my opinion - it's an epic, but it's nowhere near as difficult to follow as this one, because wow, I agree, this one is a ride for sure.
i love discovering so much interssing song! thx for your incredible anylisis on ur videos :)
iAlso i have a huge Thom Yorke voice feels! i listened to the album it's really fantastic stuff !
For shorter songs, try Black Lily, What Did I Do?, and Orion I.
I like it. Simple.
Gazpacho are a great band. I'd suggest Massive Illusion or Death Room for future listens.
There's not a single wasted note on the entire Demons album. It's phenomenal
If you haven't already (doubt it) you may check spencer's side project (including periphery's drummer), king mothership. "I stand alone" is one of the prog highlights
I've heard a couple but don't know if I've heard that specific song. Thanks for the heads-up!
The renegade son by regarde les hommes tomber
I would love to see you reacting to Septicflesh. Portrait Of The Headless Man is a great song.
Do a video on Sumac - Consumed. Monster of a track!
I remember trying these guys out like fifteen years ago, but they didn’t click with me then. This was more interesting but maybe it’s the singer because I’m not really wanting more.
I would love u to check out this video "Hate Or Pray For Them" by Fråse! , your very meticulous with your critics and I think u could find a lot to talk about.
Without subtitles i hardly managed to understand something... ☹️🇮🇹
You haven't done nu metal week
I really should. That'll be in the next theme poll.
My only complaint about this track... the part where the industrial choir kicked in... it felt SO disjointed from everything proceeding it. The transition just wasn't smooth enough for me - so it ended up feeling like a second song tacked on (or cut in) rather than changing the direction up. Outside of that I enjoyed it a ton.
