My favourite live performance of hers is AURORA - It Happened Quiet (Live at Nidarosdomen). The Nidarosdomen is a very old Norwegian cathedral with incredible acoustics and this performance is with an orchestra.
Same (well more a chix then guy but you get the idea). Love her so much I'm actually learning one of her song IN NORWEGIAN (there's not many of those cuz she prefer to sing in english).
Watching your facial expressions was the best. When she leaves us hanging, your eyebrows are alive with anticipation. Truly fun to watch someone emotionally moved by beloved voices and songs.
”Leaping Luna Lovegood”, you exclaim... Many people have called Aurora a real life Luna Lovegood, watch her endearing quirkiness in any interview with her and you will understand why. She is a Potterverse fan herself and of course was sorted into Ravenclaw on Pottermore.
She is a treasure. She sounds great in a full band, acoustic, or accapella setting. She does what she wants. It is evident in her documentary called Once Aurora. She fights with her management and record label to produce music she wants instead of making music for the radio. In it, she states that she doesn’t want to make a radio song and that she would be happy making music for the fans she already has because she has a real connection with them. Since then, her following has grown by leaps and bounds. Welcome to the wonderful world of Aurora.
OMG. What an extraordinary talent. Singer/performance artist. I noticed she actually got an interesting harmonic overtone between her voice and the keyboard near the end. After listening to this. I spend the next two hours listening to her at live shows on stages/studios/tv/ a cathedral. Just blown away by her talent!!
I don't even notice she pronounces things differently, but I'm Norwegian too! Norwegian is more tone driven than English, we tend to add more tone when we speak. I remember trying to pronounce Portuguese a long time ago and the Portuguese guy told me to drop the tonality I was adding, it was hard 😂 Aurora is the cutest, I love watching interviews with her, her replies are always so thoughtful.
A lot of people are recommending the Nidaros Cathedral concert, which is quite amazing, and you should definitely go there! However, I was equally impressed by her more recent concert that took place in a forest (HAIK Concert, 2019). Also her performance at The Current and at KEXP in Iceland (where Bjork was in the audience). Her music video of "The Seed" is also quite brilliant! She has 3 albums so far, with another due in November. For covers, check out "God is a Woman," "Believer," and "Teardrop."
Congratulations on discovering Aurora! She is incredible! I am especially partial to her tiny desk and red bull session videos. Definitely worth checking out!
We Brazilians love Aurora, she was here in Brazil making a song for an evening, she took some time to get to know the country, the foods.A loving person, deserves every success, we Brazilians hope for her. Kisses from Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷 perfect congratulations
Her voice has so much skill and beauty. I can't help but be reminded of other great N.W. Europe female singers such as Elizabeth Fraser, Dolores O'Riordan, and Bjork.
Yes! her voice is ethereal. and yes haha, Aurora is quite a character and isn't afraid to express with her face and hands. checkout her cover of Teardrop by Massive Attack
Jesus! I was listening to this laying in bed at night, and at 4:51, her voice lovingly wandered in, tucked me into bed, and gave me a kiss goodnight on the forehead.
Dynamics. Dynamics. Dynamics. That’s why this cover is my favorite cover Aurora has done. She is so good at being powerful and then drawing back . It just reels you into the music 😍
Hello Ken! Welcome to our AURORA world. This a world full with kindness and understanding. I Love your interpretation of this performance especially of her storytelling. It come from her "Heroes " Leonard cohen, Bob dylan etc. Her pausing in this song is brilliant. But my biggest chrush on her is her emotions and expressions with her hole body i never tired of that. I could write a lot more and i usually do that. But we wait for that 😉 to later. I usually not subscribe in the first reaction. But i feel that you are coming back so here you are. Big thumb up.

Terrific video. I've watched a couple of vocal coaches listen to Aurora for the first time. And they, like you, are first surprised and eventually are joyfully humbled by her voice, as I am. Glorious. I love your channel and have subscribed. Thanks for this video, I've watched it a dozen or more times.
Oh, yes! Is this your first exposure to Aurora? There is soooooo much good Aurora content. Her concert at Nidarosdomen is probably a great start. It is a good mix of her own stuff and cover work. Any of her performances on triple J's Like a Version are great too. She has a lot of her own videos on youtube as well. I am so glad you are finding her!
Everytime I hear Aurora sing it's like I'm floating through space with absolutely nothing around me and there's a voice calling me out to follow the path.
My mother warned me about girls that will mesmerize you, and take over your will. I was safe for a lot of years. Then Aurora came along. My mother was not alive when Aurora started singing. But I instantly reconised the danger she told me about. This is probably Beelzebub. But since I don't belive in angels or devils I just have to live with this angelic sounds and the deviish profeties of my mother. She sings like an angel :)
It's pleasing to the ears... The way she conducts the lyrics is very unique, her expression, her voice is very original. You better than I can say... but, in mine opinion Aurora is one of the best musicians today.
Ken: Im hearing crickets in my studio. AURORA fans: Oh, don't panic, perfectly normal, it happens when you listen to her. You get transported into another dimension.
Oh wow, I’ve been a longtime fan of Aurora and watching you react to her for the first time has made me emotional!!! You’ve earned a new subscriber, thank you! I would recommend listening to her own music also, she is massively underrated!

excellent, excellent reaction. thank you! Aurora is a whole other dimension, a rabbit hole to another universe if you decide to continue on that journey
Everyone says to listen to It Happened Quiet at Nidaro, but Through the Eyes of a Child is personally my favorite. Chills every time. Glad you checked out Aurora. I hope you listen to more of her, whether for videos or not!
So glad you made a reaction to Aurora! And that you liked her 🌺 She has so much wonderful stuff for you to react to. A pure soul, angelic voice and amazing songwriter and live performer. One of those artists who are even better live. One of my favourite Norwegian artists
Wonderful reaction! Aurora will have that effect of transporting you to another place. She has some incredible videos of her songs, but she is SO much better live. She's done great covers of Arianna Grande's "God is a Woman" and Imagine Dragon's " believer as well as John Lennon's "Across the Universe". But, she has written some beautiful, moving and sometimes dark songs which will absolutely blow you away. Anything from her live at Nidorosdomen Concert is a must. I highly recommend "Through the Eyes of a Child" (Live) - Stripped (Vevo UK LIFT).
Aurora has her own excellent repertoire of music absolutely. I enjoy her singing with another musician from Norway, Einar Selvik, with their rendition of Selvik’s song Helvegen, which he usually performs with his group Wardruna.
Aurora is the Best of the best and we're so lucky to be in planet Earth in the same time and space........ If the Duke ever heard Aurora singing his beautiful song man he would be overwhelmed by her rendition. Hahah, I almost love watching vocal coaches react to Aurora as much as I love Aurora. I always just wait for *that* certain reaction that everyone gets. I´m lucky to live in the same city as her and be able to see her live 4-5 times a year! (not in 2020 though...)
Loved your reaction. It was very much like mine the first time I heard this. I am a huge Bowie fan and I think he would have loved this. She knows how to let a song breathe. I think her playing is severely underrated BTW. Keep up the inventive exclamations. Good job.
Yes, you nailed it!! AURORA is allways telling a story with her songs... In the eyes of a child, the river.. You cannot miss that.. And just enjoy every song she sings...
I enjoyed the insightful analysis of her vocal skills and the heartfelt admiration for her artistry. What's really great is that you so rightly deduced that she sings what she feels without concern for whether it's radio ready or fits pop trends or the expectations of others. The documentary Once Aurora which you can find in translation on Reddit shows her rebellion against industry types to preserve the purity of her art. There is much more to Aurora than covers and I would hope you explore her original songs and live performances (as others have noted the December 2017 Nidaros Cathedral concert highlights both and is a good place to start).
What a great documentary that is. And you and Ken are quite right, Aurora didn't become a performer to seek mass approbation, but because her mother told her that if Aurora's music could help one other person it would be wrong to keep it to herself. How freeing that must be for Aurora, and how right her mother was.
I love how she so effortlessly transitions from the head voice purity of a church chorister to the hearty chest voice of a Bulgarian shepherdess all within one phrase.
Aurora is an incredible talent. This is a great cover, but when she is just singing, she expresses her feelings with her entire body. I would recommend Murder Song(5,4,3,2,1), Runaway, Running with the Wolves, Queendom, Hunger and The Seed.
Yet someone else falling in love with Aurora. Please more Aurora. Anything from Live at Nidarosdomen please. New subscriber who can't sing but here for the show.
