I am SO excited to return back to NYC and explore the Indian cooking scene. My aunt lives on the west coast where you will also find Indian grocery stories. She organizes her entire pantry by region of the world, which I never understood until staying here. 100% going to make my own masala spice kit.
Making dosas,... headshaking. Wouldn't be surprised if your passport came back Indian. It's not fair you get Jaya as your personal chef. 💚 Proud of how far your stomach has come.
Yes. Home cooked meals are incredible in taste and in health. I've had a lot of underlying issues (that may stem from diabetes) and many have gone away since my time here in India.
I hate uppittu so much, but love dose, I can eat it everyday Dose with coconut chutney and potato palya You should try nuchinunde with majjige huli It's heaven
Rava is also called sooji in north india and in english "semolina" . We can also prepared many more dishes from it like sooji halwa ,sooji idly and sooji dhokla these dishes are healthy and very easy to digest but all the dishes prepared by jaya are fabulous and are famous in south india but when you will explore different parts of india you will get different dishes and different culture, language like you are enter in different countries . BTW i got craving to eat all these dishes . Good job jaya and erik❣
Thank you thank you. You're always too sweet and kind. I cannot wait to come back to India to explore the north. Also, Jaya gave me a pressure cooker to bring home to the States so Indian cooking is 100% not going to stop.
How to pour milk on a bowl of cereal ;) I've noticed Americans prepare yogurt a bit differently than you do in India. Often, my mom will make a bowl of greek yogurt with a bunch of berries and granola on top - which you can find but feels very 'westernized' here in Bangalore. My sister also has some incredible granola recipes but they require an oven which we do not have here. Else, I eat scrambled eggs many mornings.
@@ErikDouds My favorite is Thick Coconut chutney.I can eat whole day with anything coconut chutney 🤤 . Make a video on " How to make different kind of chutney at home ? "
Ooo i like that recommendation. You learn a lot about oats when diagnosed with diabetes - there is a large difference between quick cook (spikes your blood sugar insanely fast) verse steel cut / slow cooking (keeps you quite stable)
I am jealous now, watched this at work now eating curd rice 😁 can't explain how pleasant and attractive and delicious this video is... Yummmmm ... Most importantly it was warm and funnn ...was that tea boiling beside poha!!! It looked sssooo appetizing...and as others here also felt I could smell all the dishes ...heheh... Awsommeeee Jaya aunty and Erik especially grating coconut...😁hope you try all this when you return home... 😁😁😁 m gonna make upma today evening...🤪the video editing is excellent...I can watch it anytime and have fun... enjoyed enjoyed...😄
Jaya makes me laugh with each video. It's been such a wonderful blessing to be with this family during the lockdown and so much going on in the world. I often do so much alone so having them all is amazing (plus the dogs). We'll keep making cooking videos as long as I am here.
This is love...this is how the entire world should be..no barriers.❤️..My sister lives in New York and she gets all the Indian ingredients there..

My dad has diabetes, he loves upma/poha, but he substitutes the flattened rice with quinoa/oats.
