This is a rumination about getting old. Who wants, can look around what's going on today. Of course it won't be the same, as the experiences you had when you were growing up.
I've been thinking about this a lot. And I think part of the answer is the mystery surrounding the old guitar heroes. There were myths about all of them. Social media put a stop to that sadly. Nowadays guitar heroes aren't marketable. That's the second reason I believe. Of course we have guitarist who are at least as good as the old heroes, but the general world doesn't care anymore. Maybe because the heroes of today are quite friendly, calm and seemingly behaving people on the contrary to the Jimi's, the Kurts and others. Anyway Big fan of Tim Henson. Discovered him a few weeks ago (I know, waaaayyy too late). He's a revolutionary guitarist. Could easily go mainstream if he simplifies his music. He inspired me to go out of my own world (which is mostly funk-type guitar). This summer I will be training on my legato, tapping and more metal-techniques to try out his songs :D Also big fan of Cory Wong btw, the guy is phenomenal live!
As someone who's been a strong supporter of UA-cam musicians since the old days of MysteryGuitarMan, Destorm and DaveDays (to name a few), I always appreciate when artists put out a song that I can just vibe to! tim's lil bathtub solo really just like encapsulates why hes so special to me. the solo starts and you kinda think you know where hes going with it and just flips the melody on its head, breaks it down into his own motifs, and adds such pretty flourishes that give him his own unique style. its literally like listening to hendrix or stevie ray vaughan, you just know who you're listening to.

There has not been a stage of talent in the guitar world, like this, since Via, Satriani and Petrucci jammed together. This was a simple arrangement it was still full of challenging moments and was brilliant and elegant, it is a masterpiece.

there is always talk about Old School vs Modern. stuff like this just proves that while, yes there is an old and genuine charm to the past, but now it is so easy to just have 3 living legends get together for some amazing collaborations.
Just search the terms Progressive Rock, progressive metal, or Djent. You will be overwhelmed lol. Arch Echo and I Built the Sky are two of my many favs atm.. Polyphia will always be in my top 10 tho 😊

Tim is just so innovative. The slap / hybrid still he’s built is solely unique to him and what he creates. He’s so skilled in every aspect of guitar playing as well as amazing use of the theory. To have the opportunity to shake the guys hand was an honour and as a guitarist of 18 years myself grade 8 and uni graduate, he’s an inspiration to people like me trying to create different music in a world of copies. All hale Tim!
Also, it should be mentioned that Polyphia only plays in 4/4 time, whereas other artists like Plini are much more experimental in their compositions. Still love Polyphia, but let's give credit to other artists, especially the ones who helped shape Polyphia.

I just discovered Tim a few months ago, and Cory, and now Plini- great directions for new music.
It's funky, melodic, energetic, subtle, creative...it's the best new stuff since Hendrix and then Nirvana,
a new revolution in rock.

Tim is just so innovative. The slap / hybrid still he’s built is solely unique to him and what he creates. He’s so skilled in every aspect of guitar playing as well as amazing use of the theory.
To have the opportunity to shake the guys hand was an honour and as a guitarist of 18 years myself grade 8 and uni graduate, he’s an inspiration to people like me trying to create different music in a world of copies.

Also, it should be mentioned that Polyphia only plays in 4/4 time, whereas other artists like Plini are much more experimental in their compositions. Still love Polyphia, but let's give credit to other artists, especially the ones who helped shape Polyphia.
