I love Jens’s understanding for form and musical structure. While all others clearly articulated part A and B (B=when the song slows down) Jens made something I would call a “lead-in”. In classical music there is a similar idea to connect antecedent with the consequent. The ending Motiv of the antecedent in measure 5 is the beginning Motiv of the consequent. It’s called elision. Also I wanna mention Paul’s feeling for short repeating cool sequences, a pleasure to listen to. And Julia’s smooth alternating fingerpicking was great to observe. It was a great idea to make a collaboration like this Paul. With all these great guitarists and their different approach gives us an insight to analytical thinking. Great job, keep on going.
What a treat! I enjoyed them all, but it was Jens and Mateus that made me go back for multiple relistens. Just so much information and even more to discover in between the lines. Thanks!
I got to give it to Ross Campbell on this one. He showed the full range of dexterity and creativity while still making it dance within the track. Those volume swelled bends hit you right in the feels. At least they do for me. The A major lick was also my favorite of the bunch. Also loved the jazz licks on Jens Larsen's track. The warm tone just worked well with them.
Julia was my favourite. I felt the backing track wasn't the type to play fancy riffs. She added a beautiful soft touch without the guitar being driven hard. I wish I could play like her. That was amazing
What a great concept for a video! I’m in the simple is best group. When a solo is overplayed, it’s either showing off or expressing one’s self as much as possible in such a short amount of time. Tim Pierce’s YT channel has taught me so much in that style, and after 50+ years of playing, I’m a believer. Thanks Paul!
Julia Lange! Playing was absolutely class, Really great tone and alot of unexpected notes. Absolutely loved all of them but her ability to let the velocity of the certain Notes she wants to emphasise and that ending was amazing. Great Video Paul!
Damn you Paul. My goal was not to have tears run down my face. Mission failed, crying my eyes out. This and the one where you had Chris Buck, sick and wrong. So emotional. Love the Beatles'ish "something in the way" progression. You are my favorite youtube guitar personality. Keep it up sir. Come to Nashville
Rabea never disappoints...Joey's in a class by himself! Martin would totally make Brian May proud, Paul's solo shows just how far he's come as a world class guitarist in the past years! Jens is a freakin' riot!! "And I'm not even playing that amp!" Classic!! Josh's tone is magical! Then Ross comes up with an equally glorious tone! TASTY!!! Julia - beautiful as always! Marty nailed Mr. George Harrison's tone and phrasing. Totally retro. Mateus! What a blessing that dude is!! Kfir - who couldn't play with that sound for hours?? This was another great collaboration, Paul!! Inspirational!
Oh wow, Julia. If notes were made of gentle raindrops filled with love, that's how her solo sounded like. I loved every single one of the guitarists! Subscribed to all of them!
What was nearned from this video is the infinite joy of music , here the artist has created , no boundarys , totally an open expression, this video brought me to tears, as I found the infinite expression of music, my eyes and ears are opened more than they ever have been, you have struck a big chord
As far as just playing straight for the heart and gut, I say Josh Smith, hands down. For the “I should just put down my guitar”, jaw dropping moment, that goes to Mateus, NO DOUBT. All of these guys (and gal) are absolutely monsters and there wasn’t a dud in that whole bunch. Great video, Paul!!
Martin has an awesome feel for rhythm and harmony, and he kicks out some awesome phrases here, but I always feel like his solos would sound better if they had half the number of notes. 😁
Watched it over and over again. Everyone gave their best. Ultimately, Ross and Julia really gave me the vibes. This is what the track actually wanted, for me, I believe.
that won the internet for me today, such a range of sounds...simply wonderful - thanks Paul for orchestrating it and all the artists for their time and effort. More please 🙂
I can't watch too much of these, the play over on your melody is too much for the emotions, a grown man shouldn't shed tears so easily, what a demonstration of the beauty inside each musician, so different so equal. A brilliant video. Thank you.❤
This was a really good idea to make this comparable, and there are so many really awesome interpretations - I love it! Please do more of this, we all can learn a lot of it.
Bea never disappoints.. just such a versatile player and has amazing sense of feel and dynamics to serve the music and the song overall. Amazing from all
I could watch Mateus play all day, absolutely beautiful, mind blowing, effortless but yet so unique , you could hear it with no video and know it’s him. Such a talent ❤
I adore Martin‘s and Mateus‘ Solos because of the technique and the changes to the chords. Also the 60s CS Strat tone was absolutely gorgeous. Just shows, how versatile those pickup positions of a good dialed in Strat are. But damn I had goosebumps on Julia‘s approach. Just the non-flashy clean sound and the notes chosen….
You can absolutely hear that every single one of them poured their hart and soul into this backing track, you heard no competition just pure love for music!!! Well done guys!!
All solos are just amazingly beautiful to the ears, I just dig them all especially Julia's octave and triplet fill-ins. And it's just fantastic to watch Mateus Asato and Martin Miller coming up with some technical fret-board pyrotechnics but still very melodic without over playing and still emphasizing the melodic essence of the chord progression. What a Jam! Congrats Paul.
@@CrisCraig Have to agree. Then again, Miller's style is not very expressive in terms of micro tones, bendings, and hand approach. His vibrato is ok but run of the mill and the way he fills the 3 and 4 beats of the chords is kind of predictable. Still, a great player.
One of the things I truly love in all of these performances, is openly speaking on practicing. When many people hear a musician perform a completed piece, they write it off as "just talent" and don't recognize the hours and hours those fingers have gone through to make it sound like the notes were always there to be grabbed out of thin air. Was wonderful to hear all these voices, and all these musicians in one place. Thank you Paul for putting in the hours behind the scenes!
Paul, what a terrific series you have built here. Thank you for sharing your talents, as well as the incredible collection of musicians you’ve assembled!

Tim Pierce’s YT channel has taught me so much in that style, and after 50+ years of playing, I’m a believer. Thanks Paul!
Ross nailed it for me. Less is so much more, especially for a melodic track like this.
Julia's solo was so good man. You can tell that she's a classical guitarist but it counterintuitively worked so well with the track
But gentle raindrops bring big floods?
Julia Lange made me cry.
Sounded like a piano solo on a guitar. Really beautiful 😮
What was nearned from this video is the infinite joy of music , here the artist has created , no boundarys , totally an open expression, this video brought me to tears, as I found the infinite expression of music, my eyes and ears are opened more than they ever have been, you have struck a big chord
Absolutely agree.
Great video, Paul!!
jens switch in cadence @11:10 is just so sweet, everyone killed it. There needs to be a video of just the solos. Fantastic work as always Paul!
This might be the best one yet. Julia Lange almost made me cry. Thanks Paul for doing these videos!
Mateus, Martin and Julia my fav 🔥
Josh is a living legend. All players are real great, but I love how Josh sounds on this track.
Amazing video. Particular shoutout to Ross Campbell-that solo was seriously inspiring
Martin’s solo literally made me say “I’ve got to get better, dude.” Never heard him. He’s a straight monster.
Oh, you have to check out the medley performances on his page... The Toto and Queen medley are PHENOMENAL...
He have a few fusion ballad song with Tim Quayle that similar to this, check it out!
I feel you bruh.. same here
my favorite player as for today, his phrases is somthing else
Martin has an awesome feel for rhythm and harmony, and he kicks out some awesome phrases here, but I always feel like his solos would sound better if they had half the number of notes. 😁
Watched it over and over again. Everyone gave their best. Ultimately, Ross and Julia really gave me the vibes. This is what the track actually wanted, for me, I believe.
Julia's solo might be one of the most beautiful solos Ive ever heard. All incredible performances by incredible artists. I love it
Julia's solo is the one that really stands out for me and sounds original.
Her approach is so gentle. I love it!
Jen's playing through the song's transition at the 40 second mark was brilliant. No one else nailed that transition seamlessly like he did.
I fully agree, I had to go back a few times just to give it a listen
that won the internet for me today, such a range of sounds...simply wonderful - thanks Paul for orchestrating it and all the artists for their time and effort. More please 🙂
I can't watch too much of these, the play over on your melody is too much for the emotions, a grown man shouldn't shed tears so easily, what a demonstration of the beauty inside each musician, so different so equal. A brilliant video. Thank you.❤
Ross killed it. Such a great player. 😎
Everyone killed it. Mateus and Martin Miller are always so freaking fun to watch. Those dudes never disappoint.
I fucking love Ross' contribution, making the most of the Strat as well. The only solo that I had to repeat. Twice, even
Mad respect Paul bringing us the amazing guitarists and amazing tunes you are helping to bring back guitars, amazing work my brother
Rabea, what a start. His style has so much soul !
Ross Campbell for the feels and and Julia Lange for sounding like a 1950's hawaiian guitar - such a great range of styles
martin miller is my favorite, insanely musically and melodic. on top of it amazing feel and technique. a complete package.
Me too
This was a really good idea to make this comparable, and there are so many really awesome interpretations - I love it!
Wow. Simply wow. Every single one of these guitarists are 10/10 in their approaches and solo.
Ross and Julia to me were exceptional...all about feeling , dynamics and reading the progressions with space and amazing tones
We need another video like this! It's amazing to see such a different guitar players and their styles playing with same backing track
Perfectly said!
That's it
I loved the approach that Ross had with the volume knobs, and the smoothness on Paul´s solo 👏
Ross' tone was great too
Martin Miller’s solo was absolutely beautiful. I have nothing else to say about it
Agreed... 🥇
🔥🔥🔥
@@CrisCraig that’s cool, and that’s your opinion. Totally fine
I do. Even though I love his solo, to me he was using this particular rhythmic figure a bit too much.
