    Would anyone know why In do not see a measurement? I see that after clicking segment the configuration for that segment comes up, but no measurement appears in the window.

      You do need to click the show button on the add-on as the dimensions are hiddden when you first open a Blend file

    Hello thanks!
    The link of two vertices from 2 different objects does not work for me.
    It doest not connect the 2 vertices I selected explicitly, so the measurement is off. It's using Blender 4.2.0

      It looks like it does not work with instances. After making each mesh local / deinstantiation it, it worked.

    Hi Tom
    It is a great job. Thank you.
    I have a problem when creating from scratch.
    F12 does not render outline by the usual rendering.
    Freestyle is activated and I am comparing the two projects (drawing and mine). Parameters seem to be the same everywhere.
    When I copy-paste a mesh from my project into drawing.blend, its rendering is ok.
    And when I import from drawing to my project, i doesn't work. No outline but only the usual render.
    4 hours on this and I loose my temper..
    Have you the idea to save me ?

    • @BlenderZen
      @BlenderZen  6 місяців тому

      Hey there, the first thing to check is the objects you are importing have a face and are not only edge objects. If its a drawing from a CAD program you will need o either convert to mesh and fill with faces, or give the curves some thickness. That may not be the issue, just the first thought I had.

      @@BlenderZenThank you. That points were ok.
      I found a way by mixing via he compositor the freestyle layer but I'll try to find out why.

    Bro I have a real question. Im so worried because I just noticed the sizes from Measurelt Tools and the Native sizes of blender (from the scene propierties>units tab) are not matching. I mean, how to tell which sizes are real world? I have a project in which, an objects size is 0.50m (in measurelt addon) but its 2.99m from native sizes. HELP!!! 😢

    • @BlenderZen
      @BlenderZen  2 роки тому +2

      The easiest way to make you object real world scale is to use the MeasureIt add-on and scale the object to the correct size. Ave a copy of your file first to test. If you know what the distance between two vertices are in the real world then add a MeasureIt dimension between them. In object mode apply the scale (Ctrl + A).Then in edit mode select it all and scale until the MeasureIt dimension is the correct size.
      Different applications use different units and this can cause differences between models.

    My render output shows the walls and MeasureIt number, but no MeasureIt lines... Any idea why? I already changed line thickness to 4 without any change.

    • @BlenderZen
      @BlenderZen  Рік тому

      Hey Nils. Have you also combined both the “Blender render” and the “MeasureIt” render in the compositor?

    • @nilsleideck2521
      @nilsleideck2521 Рік тому

      @@BlenderZen Yes, I did. And the measurement numbers are displayed okay - not a high resolution and unsharp/pixeled, but they are at least displayed. However, the lines are still not rendered, or in a way that they are not visible in the render result image. It's really surprising that there is literally not a single tool for dimensions out there that does the job of SketchUp. I do not like SketchUp and I am much into Blender, but this is a show stopper for my clients. Im not a programmer, but a user, and I would really be interested to see if there is a bigger need for such a tool. I am willing to invest into that. Most of the advanced tools that may cover this need, such as BlenderBIM, MeasureIt_ARCH, Construction Lines and others are too unstable and buggy. MeasureIt does a great job, but totally fails when it comes to rendering. My goal is to not duplicate my work, so I want to model my clients buildings, making razor-sharp images from inside and outside, but also use that same model to create the 2d floor plan with measurement lines. Did not expect this to be so complicated to achieve. Thanks for reading and replying! LG, Nils Leideck

  • @petrkutil7400
    @petrkutil7400 2 роки тому +1

    Great stuff, thanks for that! One question: How do I get a dimension in pure X or Y or Z between two objects distributed in space? Also I only managed to move the value not the whole dimension in case of "Link" dimension.

    • @petrkutil7400
      @petrkutil7400 2 роки тому

      Using the Origin might be the answer. Asking loud always works :).

    • @otapi
      @otapi Рік тому

      @@petrkutil7400 Well, still not the same as at the segment of one object. Moving the origins of both objects with the link dimension moves the dimension line indeed, but don't draw assist lines to the objects at end of the arrows.

    When I try to print into an image the measurements are displaced and it's impossible to place on where they have to be placed. I can't waste time with try&error till the measurement match exactly its position. I'm tired of that and Blender can't do this correctly. What a waste of time!

    • @otapi
      @otapi Рік тому +1

      What I found, it is easier to set the background of the editing viewport to white in the Blender's preferences, and the dimensions to black. Then simply shot a screenshot of Blender to print the draw with dimensions in any view you need. No need to set up camera and the render with composition of dimensions.

    • @BlenderZen
      @BlenderZen  Рік тому

      Hey R0nald, good question. I never considered the amount of dimensions you can add. Testing here it seems you can add a great number, and probably more than you would need for any drawing.

      @@BlenderZen thanks for the reply. I'm up to about 35 right now. What prompted me to ask the question was that I got so far and was unable to create dimension off a certian vertex. Turned out, I had that vertex dimensioned already but the dims were turned off.
      Is that normal behavior?

    • @BlenderZen
      @BlenderZen  Рік тому

      @@r0naldhuber578 Yes MeasureIt is off by default when you open a Blend file. Took a while to get used to that behaviour, but its actually better that way in my opinion.

      Don’t think the dimensions can be exported as SVG, but the Freestyle render can be. Enable the add-on “Freestyle SVG Exporter”. This allows you export the freestyle image as SVG.
