- Hello guys, hope you are all doing well. I hope each time I upload the quality of my videos improve. I was struggling to not talk as fast with my other videos but I think I achieved a good speed this time.
Any feedback is appreciated and I am willing to learn anything you guys have to offer but try to be nice about it :3

I dragged my a couple of my friends who had never been on a rollercoaster before onto it and they loved it. It's a great ride, blame the marketing.
yeah for sure, I love the swarm it's definitely in my top 10. I'm glad it's getting more attention now than it did!
The rides theming is absolutely amazing as well as a very smooth ride and terrifying first drop (I don’t feel safe upside down in any circumstance). I haven’t fully watched this video as I’m in the car going somewhere but just judging by the editing this looks hilarious and very well made! I’ll edit my comment once I’ve seen it in its entirety with audio
that's so nice of you. Thank you for your wonderful comment. I agree with you the swarm is so good and I'm there with you on the first drop and being uncomfortable with rides. I am a proud scaredy cat haha!
I also am aware that the Olympics happening in London the same year The Swarm opened didn’t see any people going to Thorpe Park while they were on.
you know you raise a good point, I never thought. Maybe they should have waited a year to open the ride. But to be honest they probably weren't aware it would be hosted in London when they started building it!
They knew it the whole time, as London was awarded in 2005.

Allegedly - 'brave it backwards' was removed because if the trains were to collide for any reason, there wouldn't be enough clearance created by the bumpers etc to stop riders legs from being crushed. Or maybe that's complete BS, i dunno?
oh wow yeah that sounds realistic enough! I would have just assumed it was because they had too many people feel unwell after wards and honestly it was quite gimmicky
I thought it was because the queue system was really confusing when you get into the station
I was working in management at Chessington during 2012 and I remember that year we had one of the wettest summers for a very long time, which really impacted visitor numbers across all merlin parks. Also, it was the year of the Olympics, so from a tourism pov, 2012 was always going to throw up some anomalies.
that's a great point! I have no memory of 2012 tbh I was a lot younger haha, that's a fair argument. I guess people were put off by both things!
I remember The Swarm way back in 2012. I followed it’s construction, even did my art gcse exam painting the top of the lift hill looking down on that inversion drop, insane. But it was not as good as it could have been - the length was poor you couldn’t immerse yourself enough.

It's my favorite wing coaster. At least it has some forces compared to the others.
Agreed I really enjoy it, I think I prefer Mandril Mayhem for some reason though! I think its the launch but you cant beat a good lift hill :D

I didn’t take it being rude 😊 - Blackpool is too far from us - I would love to go on icon for sure, but it’s not exactly a day out for us, and not really worth staying over as we do for Alton towers. Thorp park is about 1:40 if the traffic is ok, so easily doable in the day. We’re on the Essex/Suffolk boarder.

@@CoasterChroniclesUK i think everyone exaggerates how rough it is! Its my second favourite coaster at the park! :D
Sure it was a flop, attendence dropped from 2.1million to 1.8million which you wouldn't expect a 300,000 drop but I think not building a new rollercoaster for 12 years was really stupid as attendance dropped further to 1.5 million by 2015.
2012 was also the London Olympics which maybe somehow had a negative impact.
Overall swarm is smooth, fun and the best themed ride at the park and I like it.
Yeah! same here I love the swarm and I'm glad it gets more attention now. Hopefully now that Hyperia "seems" more reliable they start making their money back and Thorpe Park can use it towards new projects which I would love to see!
@@Q4Coasters yea would love to see it there's prime real estate behind the swarm for a compact RMC I reckon and would be nice if they linked pathways between stealth and swarm Island to help the park crowd flow better
@@Rabbitzz yeah it is really weird how that isn't already a thing. I mean they have proved they arent scared to get rid of things to build new ones which is a good and bad thing. To be honest when they rethemed big easy boulevard I was kinda shocked that they kept the 4D cinema haha

I've always enjoyed the Swarm, about as gentle experience you can get on what would be classed as a proper thrill ride, if that makes sense. So it's fun but relatively accessible for a big coaster. Also those vest restraints >>>>
YES totally agree, vest restraints are my favourite kind its why I like Mandril and Swarm so much. If only my favourite coasters (both nemesis rollercoasters) had those, I'm not a fan of the clicking because sometimes its tight and other times it feels loose. The swarm is one of my favourites at the park closely behind inferno because of how much of an experience it is :D
@@Q4Coasters Yeah's it's weird how the level of click (defo a technical term) is so inconsistent. Best example of that is Oblivion but when it's like 1 rung looser than it should max out at it's sooooo fun. But yeah Nemesis is goated, went to Towers for the first time in years a couple of weeks ago and doing Nemesis Reborn was so fun. And yeah Inferno's kinda underrated.
@@maxradwan7979 totally agreed, I wish all seat restraints had the hydraulic ones, they definitely make it more accessible for those with different proportions and sizes. Like I am skinny but my thighs make it so I cant click in smh. Nemesis inferno gets so much hate because of its name
I'd bet that not very many people would think of the swarm as a smooth ride experience as their very first thought, unless this was your home park.
Ah that's totally fair, it is my home park and in terms of merlin parks I would say its one of the smoothest experiences I've had. What would yours be? :D
@@Q4Coasters King's Island is my home park. You would probably expect one of the big b&ms to be the smoothest in the park, but all of them have a rattle for some reason. Mystic timbers is honestly the smoothest ride there imo.

tbf tho some of the other rides at the park are quite rough (referring to the migraine makers that are saw and colossus) so swarm is definitely a noticeable change lol
I honestly have no clue why this one flopped so much? I mean it’s smooth and wing coasters are normally crowd pleasers cuz of the headchoppers. It actually has more track length than nemesis. And I think the theme isn’t a bad one. I really don’t know why it wasn’t a success. Maybe just didn’t strike a chord with the public? I honestly have no clue because it has always intrigued me!
it is weird I agree! I am glad it's getting the recognition it deserves now. It is a mystery why it didn't work out so well. I'm also with you on that, I love the swarm in general a long with its theme its a great overall package >:D
swarm is my favourite ride at the park its genuinely such an enjoyable experience beginning to end
wish they couldve made it longer but im happy with what we have
yes me too, the swarm is a standout there. But I don't mind rougher coasters as long as you are expecting it. I'm one of the only people that like colossus but I don't like Saw while a lot of my friends do :D

saw is probably my second favourite at the park and i could easily ignore the roughness but i cant really say the same for colossus lol
@@ghostfaceishot876 fair enough, we wont agree on everything! I hate saw so HAHAHA, idk I find gerstlauers uncomfortable and cramped. Colossus would be so much better if they changed those silly trains
Last time I went on swarm it was actually a bit rough and so was hyperia

In about a week, me and my friend are driving hours to go here, and I cannot wait. I've heard great things and to be honest, I have no idea why I'm here as I promised I wouldn't spoil myself-
haha! hope I didn't spoil it too much. Make sure you get there as early as possible and go to your most anticipated ride first and try to join hyperias line during lunch time

I like this ride, as tame as it is, its unique and well themed and the first drop is pretty cool.
And its pretty smooth.
oh I love it. I prefer a tamer experience, plus that first drop under the aeroplane wing is a killer! its my seconds favourite at the park. My first being nemesis inferno

@@Q4Coasters Thanks i rided Fenix when i did a class journey to Toverland. It's my first time in a real rollercoaster. On the beginning i was scared but on the end i said:'That was Fun!' And my classmate Nathan cheered me up when i was scared.

Just rode Swarm & Hyperia - Hyperia has zero theming, literally none! and the tin shed they load the cars in is just embarrassing! Along with its unreliability (we had to wait an additional 45 mins during queuing as it broke down for the 3rd time that day, taking the wait to 2 & 3/4 hours as they massively oversold the fast passes and seriously prioritised them over standard ticket holders. I do like the Swarm and I would only give Hyperia 8/10 and the Swarm 7/10 - I went to Florida last summer and VelociCoaster shows us how modern forward thinking coasters should be built. Climbing high and falling down is very old fashioned. Coasters that launch you are much, much more intense, and with the ability to re-launch you again and again throughout the ride keeps that initial intensity going all the way to the end. Lap bars are the way forward with Swarms restraint system being one of my favourites. SAW should be demolished as its just so uncomfortable - same as colossus. The UK has a long way to go for theme parks to catch up to Europe and the rest of the world.
@@AndrewSparkes-PinholeDesign well I would say thats very harsh. I understand we aren’t as up to date but I wouldn’t say that saw or colossus are bad coasters.
We are the record holders for most inversions on two occasions with the first being colossus and the second being smiler. There will always be a need for a lifthill because not everyone likes launch coasters!
Im sorry that you had a bad time with hyperia its a great coaster and the themeing is definitely unfortunate in the sense that there is none.
But the UK set the standard in the 1990’s and before that for theming with things like Transylvania at chessington and we have some of the most creative ones at alton towers.
I think the UK has a long way to go and i agree that it is behind but I think you might be being a bit harsh in some aspects
@@AndrewSparkes-PinholeDesign sorry also forgot to mention lapbars dont solve everything as it cant still be uncomfortable with them. Sik at flamingo land has lap bars but people say that the constant inversions with lap bars hurt
@@Q4Coasters I love the smiler, and nemesis (both versions) don't rate the wickerman at all though, all 4 of us riding SAW had headaches for a good 15mins after riding - Colossus is just it's age as no headaches, just a lot of resisting the forces to stop your head from banging onto the side restraints. Hyperia was very very comfortable and smooth like butter, but you would expect this on a brand new coaster. They don't have to be hyper launch coasters like stealth, but even Hagrid's which is a family coaster with no inversions or steep drops has a serious amount of thrill without excessive launches, but has 7 launches during the ride & amazing theming. Swarm is an great coaster though and I highly recommend it to anyone as a coaster that you may want to start with as your first coaster because it is so smooth and graceful, you can build up to the more forceful coasters after that. If you went on SAW or Colossus as your first coaster it could put you off because of the pain in riding. - Great video though - very witty and entertaining :0)

As for wickerman, how come you don’t like it. I think its great. One of the best family coasters out there its so fast and whippy!
@@Q4Coasters Never been to flamingo land - but I wish I had clicked my restraint a little tighter for VelociCoaster as the air time and hang time moments I was out of my seat way more than I would like - I learnt that for Hyperia and ensured it was as tight as I could get it 🤣

Nemesis is king at thorpe, I always come off unable to walk straight. Never fails to thrill.
Saw is too rough.
Colossus slow and cramped.
Stealth, amazing but short.
Hyperia, amazing but short. Kinda tame after 1st drop. like stealth in that respect. Thorpe needs an RMC.
@@RussBlake80 if I had to list my top 3 I would say Nemesis, then swarm and then colossus, close 4th is actually the walking dead. Love the layout of that ride and its so smooth! nemesis inferno is definitely my favourite though just like you:)
@@Q4Coasters 100% nemesis all the way. Surprised you didn't mention stealth tho. I rode that 22 times in one day. Was epic.
I like colossus, however it just needs a bit more pace, smoother track and better trains. Then it would be alot better. Even though I'm not the biggest fan, I always have to ride it and hate when it's down.
My daughter likes walking dead. She always cries and then wants a hug. Lol
@@RussBlake80 ahaha thats so cute, she's a real one because same. I don't like stealth personally because its too intense for me. I dont enjoy being flung back into my chair and not being able to hold my neck. I've only done it once but I cried after not for me :)

I only got over my fear of bigger rollercoasters last year when 19 so I am still proud of you for trying so young haha!

@@CorbincordelL oh i never said i disliked it! It’s in my top 10 it’s a really great ride. Its just the general public didn’t like it and it didn’t increase the park gate like they wanted it to so it was a commercial failure :D
