Sub-typing Autism: Here Is What You Should Know

- Autism spectrum disorder is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the U.S. today. Early brain development is affected by ASD, including the way neurons communicate with one another. However, there is not just one brain problem found in ASD-there are 8 to 10 suspected factors that can influence abnormal brain function. During the past three decades, Amen Clinics has seen more than 1,000 children and adults with ASD. The SPECT imaging studies of these patients reveal that their brain patterns tend to have areas of high activity, low activity, or areas of both in some cases.
Because brain patterns in ASD can be varied, it is even more important to look at the brain using SPECT imaging. Abnormal activity is often seen in the cerebellum, anterior cingulate gyrus, amygdala, and the temporal, frontal, and parietal lobes. Brain SPECT scans also serve as a very useful tool for measuring the progress of treatment and to continue finding the best and most effective options for each patient, including behavior modifications, medication and/or supplement management, and lifestyle adjustments.

My daughters autism makes me envious of her critical reasoning, observational and academic skills. She is also astounding at laying down boundaries and with anything forensic/detective reasoning. She has ASD but is not on any medication. I put her on probiotics, on occasion, AFR multivitamen, vitamin D3 and fish oil omega 3. Occasionally some other vitamins when she has a bad diet (she loves starchy, gluten, processed, sugary foods). I have to watch what she cooks for herself.
There is so much hope with the right support and approach. Praying this year I can afford a scan :)

@sherry ann im saving up for a spect scan for myself. im very familiar with dr amens work which i think is genius but im from canada and i have no clue if there is any kind of health here that would help cover it? i heard of paycare or some way to finance the scan and costs but thats only for US citizens. is there a place in toronto or something i can go to get the scan done? i thought heard about an area in ontario that worked with the amen clinics? can you answer this @Amen Clinics

He talks about bacteria in the intestines. To protect the intestines research the amino acid (protein) Glutamine. It's role in the body besides being food and fuel for the brain is to protect the intestines against bacterial attack. Add some probiotics to fight bacteria too and that would be good for solving a few bacteria problems. Both together is a one two punch for preventing bacteria problems in the intestines. I found the amino acid Arginine to be helpful with acid reflux.
My little girl suffer from terrible stomach aches. It too them a year to figure out it was gas. Hope this information is helpful.

It’s fermenting from kefir grains. You can buy Kefir grains from the Internet.
You can use any kind of milk. I am lucky to be able to go to a Amish market. I buy my milk from there in glass bottles, the milk has a cream top.
But you can also use other milk like almond, or coconut milk.
If using almonds then soak them overnight first.

Is it fair to say that many if not most people diagnosed with Autism/ADD/ADHD also have hypermobility? Could there be a connection here?

I hate that he considers Diagnoses of autism as "Horrifying"....... I think it's amazing they're diagnosing more. Autism hasn't gone up, the diagnostic process is getting better.

I hear but some people with autism are struggling horribly and while we can’t cure it, we can definitely try to make their quality of life better 🤷🏻♀️ his choice of words may have not been the best but he’s not completely wrong
My son has level 3 autism and I wasn’t horrified at first but now as he’s getting older I am, I’m horrified when he runs in front of cars I’m horrified when he attacks other children, I’m horrified when he gets out of his car seat while I’m driving and attacks me or his brother, I’m horrified when he has full blown meltdowns. I’m horrified because I can’t help him. He has lots of therapy, OT, speech, play therapy, positive behavioural therapy, social therapy. Autism is great for some not for all. Not every autistic is high functioning some will never talk, learn to use the toilet, have a job, go to a mainstream school, live on there own, go on holidays. I can’t even watch my older son at school concerts, sports, I can’t take him to the movies as my younger son who has Autism won’t cope and starts attacking other ppl, and no I can’t get anyone to look after him as no one wants to he’s to unpredictable. It is horrifying to some parents.
@@jessiecee6564 My youngest son is nonverbal and also would wander into traffic, not use the toilet etc etc. I still don't see this as horrifying. My son is amazing and perfect the way he is. Sure, he has comorbid disabilities that make things harder (Such as Intellectual Disability, Speech Apraxia, etc), and aren't part of the Autism part at all. People who are "Severely autistic" are autistic people with other disabilities along side the autism part. They're figuring this out with the more studies they do. And "High Functioning" are literally those autistic people who are able to MASK and HIDE all their challenges, and learned to do so through Trauma, being told they're "Weird", "Annoying", "Picky" "Spoiled", "Sensitive", just to name a few. I was that kid. And I am FAR from high functioning. People don't see the 2 weeks it takes me to Recover from simply attending a fricken meeting, or "Visiting" with a friend... No one can hear the billion thoughts going through my head DURING the interactions "Am I making enough eye contact, am I making too much, Am I being weird? Are they judging me? Get me out of here". They don't FEEL the EXHAUSTION, Sensory Overload and more, that we High-Masking autistics feel. The only difference is, we are able to hide it from people like you, and then suffer behind closed doors, and we're also able to understand how our NonVerbal friends, family etc all feel, and how exhausted THEY must feel. Any parent who says "Their childs autism is horrifying", needs to reach out for support, because that child, will feel this, and know you feel this way, and trust me, it's NOT a good feeling...........................
