Interesting video, I still have my topcat and cougar from the 80s and 90s 🤭 I might mod my cougar lol looking at it now she still has her schumacher gold rush motor acoms 27mzh radio gear and futaba speed controller 👌 😎 good times !
That beast is quick!!!!!!!
I always used foam tires when I was racing on tarmac by the way, those tires in the vid were originally designed for clay tracks if I'm not mistaken.
Love your garden track by the way! When we used pipes to mark out a track we would always try to ensure that any "overlap" in the race direction is kind to the cars, if you see what I mean. So if the car does touch the pipe it will just hit along the smooth side with the end of the next pipe "covered" that one. It works in the opposite direction automatically too. Of course if you get out of control and drive on the wrong side, don't blame me by the way!
This comment is just in the form of a by the way, by the way.
This is really nice, good job! I have a Club 10 Cougar that I built in the early 90's and restored a bit maybe 10 years ago. Always had problems with the diff / lsd breaking the plastic trilobe washer carriers but your video has inspired me to buy the pro transmission upgrade U7600 which hopefully fits mine! I'd like to convert it to brushless and some other upgrades.
Dude!!!!…..the Lancaster sounded amazing 🥰🥰🥰……that Cougar goes as well as it looks too😎😎😎
The first pass was even lower LOL Not sure why but it did a second directly over the house again so I was able to get the phone out in time. We are super lucky as we live between two air museums so we have WW2 stuff fly over us weekly. I love the sound of the RR Merlin engine coming in super low.
Lancastor was an added bonus to a beautiful car!!
Hi Gavin in my experience and from what I’ve seen at the track Schumacher yellow compound tyres are generally the softest compound you would used for dry cut grass silvers are softer and for wet running, green comp middle compound and blue hard compound. A mini spike tyre would be more suitable for grass with Schumacher cut staggers on the front or mi I spikes if you wanted more bite. Honeycombes maybe on carpet or compacted dirt. I’m sure they can be used in other applications as well depending on track conditions. They aren’t a grass tyre though.
Yes yellow cut spikes on the back are the way to go on grass tracks. Most of the performance is from the correct tires
Enjoyed that it goes nicely a lot of the lap time you found us down to the electric upgrade , but you could find even more, get your ride height down to about 14mm/16mm depending how bumpy the track is and change your tyres, I reckon you’ll go quicker just in doing that :) nice video
That's a great looking and performing buggy.
Good grief that thing is fast😮
What a fantastic stroke of luck with the Lanc too😎👌🏻
You should take this to an iconic round next year for a bit of fun and do a video experience of the whole weekend.
e-mailed you gavin
I've just bought a kf2 for my first rc car .yours looks amazing an goes seriously fast
5400KV !, Wow that's is going to be a absolute rocket !, I have a scorpion turbo on the 3300 combo and it's right on the money for a 2wd chassis, 5400 must be a handful 😆
The production values are going up, a Lancaster flypast for the Cougar lap-time reveal!
That’s the RCKicks budget out the window for the next six months. That said it’s amazing what you can order online these days lol. 👍🏻👍🏻
OOoo, I bet that goes like the wind Gavin! Lovely looking car and a good build it seems. I love the belt drives man!! Great video buddy!! Thumbs as always!!
Great video I love the track I had the Schumacher cougar back in the day
Thanks 👍
How would you say a couger compared against rc 10 team car, jrxpro and traxxas trx1, always wanted a schumacher never actually saw anyone with one
@@dannywalker6279 I don’t think you would be disappointed. Super easy to build and work on plus loads of space for electronics.
What a car. I had the pickup truck version ah the memories ...
I like your track layout. Buggy appears to be a ripper now.
Seems to handle and go very nicely! Speedy little set up for sure!👋🏻😊👍🏻🏁🍻
Cracking run 👍 i ran my classic in the second final today and was quicker than my cougar 2 🤔 its a great car out the box once you soften the shocks a little. The kit shocks have a habit of throwing there oil out when your pushing them hard. But ive not fitted big bore shocks to this one “yet” only one more meeting till we move to racing indoors for winter 😭
I used to own a hornet and then a hotshot back in the late 80s and this car is definitely faster than both of them. Very impressive speed and responsiveness.
I have found that Schumacher is very responsive to customers. I bought a Mission front wheel drive car. You did build one on the show. The body I bought directly from Schumacher was different from the one you had. I emailed Schumacher about this. They did say the body did change and even to sent me more screws to mount the wing differently. They even sent me the extra parts for free. I live in California and they still took care of my concerns. Awesome company. Thoughts?
I love that Gavin. With all the carbon and modern dampers and honeycomb tyres. Looks great and seems like its more stable on the front end.
Yep it drives well. One upgrade races do is to put a longer front tower and longer big bore shocks on the front. This results in you having to change the body to one with a detached nose. I did think about it, but for me it changes the look too much from the kit so I decided not to go that way.
@@RCKickschannel I think what you have done is enough. I always found the Topcat front end a bit wild and unpredictable. This seems much more planted. I am tempted

Looks sharp, love the blue.
Damn it is fast 😂😊❤️
I had a Schumacher Cougar 2000 that I bought in about 1996 or so ... I would've expected this to be replicating that, but there are a lot of differences, more than there are similarities, almost
Almost a compleatly different buggy the 2000
That was epic Gavin, she runs really well.
PS I've signaled the spam messages in the comments.
Lancaster.over the house?!
When is the Panzer tank going to get a time trial round the track? Get a time ticket on the wall 😁
You should really run a servo saver like a xray hd one…it will just break the steering lever everytime you crash it…
It Runs lovely 😊
How did u install the big bore shock ? The end caps are different ?
Lower the servo, and/or raise the ball stud height on the steering linkage, you want the horn as long as possible - More responsive...
Very nice rc car🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
I see your grass is burned out from the sun same as it is here in Switzerland.
Yep totally killed off due to the lack of rain and 30-40 days we have had in the UK. The weather is so stuffed, I've never seen it like this in the UK before. We hit 41 one day!
Hi gavin.... just picked up a cc. Which tyres would your recommend for dirt? Tarmac? Grass? Thank you.
Kit tyres for dirt, tarmac and short grass, Schumacher honeycomb. Plus these look cool.
This looks like a great buggy! I've been thinking about getting back into RC after years away and your channel has been amazingly helpful! I want a 2WD buggy to bash with to get me back up to speed, but might race in future if I get into it. Do you think this would cope with a bit of racing, or am I realistically looking at something to bash and then something else for racing? If so I may just save some cash and go for a Tamiya to start me off (unless there's something better).
This would be at home on a track for sure but not sure I would take it bashing
@@RCKickschannel ok, thanks for the speedy reply
Does anyone have a hook up for the ball raced steering upgrade? Seems like it has been out of stock for an eternity!
Hi gav... jist brought the pro transmission but abit co fused with not have a new pully with the grooves for the big 'o' ring.. was that a option or am I missing the pully
I’m not sure what you mean Rory, sorry?
If your not going to run the XLS - you could always grab a standard servo, take the case off, and then paint it? I've seen you paint way more difficult things, so a servo should be easy!
Nice one Gavin, I’m loving the cougar classic, what paint did you use on the body it’s a nice blue I like it
Tamiya PS Metallic Blue. Amazing colour and I can 100% recommend it
Thank you, and another quick question, what part number for the rear uprights and do they fit the classic rear arms?
hi ,were did you buy the front waight for the car , cant find them any were ,thanks for any help
A guy made them in the Facebook group
thanks gav ,ive tracked them down thanks for the lead@@RCKickschannel
I too have been trying to find these weights. Can anyone provide a link or contact? Thank you.
Can you tell me the app/system you use for lap times please? (apols if it's already been answered)
Two I would recommend. If it’s just timing for yourself, Lap tracker. If you want to race with others, get LapMonitor.
Nice, what kind of tires were you running on the asphalt? Also was that second car you showed a Shumacher too ?
Schumacher pins for tarmac and the second car is the Top Cat
Hi Gavin, may I ask where you got that aftermarket custom front weight from? Are you planing to run the CC and TC on a proper track as well (not dismissing your own backyard track of course)?
It was made by a guy on the Facebook Schumacher forum but I’m not sure if he has any still available. At some point I’ll run it on a track yes.
@@RCKickschannel Okay, thank you. I'll have a look on FB.
Gavin great vid ..just spray a dead servo silver......🙄
That will look terrible
Awesome, what length are the big bores ?? Long back medium front ?
Not sure, I had them in the parts bin, I would have to measure them but that sounds about right. Fronts are not short
@@RCKickschannel yeah the short ones do look short
Very nice, what gearing are you running in it?
25T pinion and option slipper spur that was 89T U7154 resulting in 7.36 The buggy felt happy and things didn't get too hot on a fast 5000Mah battery run on short grass.
What app are you using for timing?
Laptracker and Lapmonitor
@@RCKickschannel I'm on Android so laptracker is no good 🙁
it's like it wants to be 4WD
Well that’s what a SWB CAT or XLS are for.
Gav what’s with all the hats recently?? Hair implants ?
Fixing studio light glare
@@RCKickschannel best comment on here lol hope your well
