I am one of those kids who built an raced rc in the late 80s and early 90s who grew up to be a mechanic and Machinist who not only does automotive repair daily but also builds road racing cars that race in the scca. I owe my entire adult career to rc .
I still got my ProCat from 1990! After some modern Tune-Up my 5 year old son had his first drive with this lovely and awesome cat. Thank you for building such a masterpiece! Please keep up the support with tuning and replacement parts!!
My XLS taught me a lot of real world car tuning tricks - my own mini-F1 car! Went on to track real cars on real tracks and was grateful to already know a lot about car setup. I got mine already built, tuned and fresh from winning the 1989 Ontario 4WD championship - 30 years ago and still running great on LIPOSs. That front elastic breakaway trick is genius! Such a great design but holy moly it is a tricky machine to get up and running. So many diffs, bearings, belts and tricky bits. Hats off and Thank You!
Superb - I upgraded from a Vanquish/Avante hi-brid raced in super stock in 89/90, to the Procat in 90/91, with great success, both indoors on slippy basketball/badminton court circuits with minispikes and off road, running a Reedy Pink dot motor mainly. Once I'd fitted expensive at the time MMS diffs front and rear, it really transformed the drive train, but aside from the setup and efficiency the Procat gave the biggest thing was the pivoting front wishbones with 3 rubber bands that saved your steering and wishbones in crashes. Genius. The circuits we races on in South East of England often were made out of firehoses with wooden pegs to tension and give shape - most crashes when you went wide involved railing a firehose before you smashed a wishbont at the front into a sturdy peg. The procat took this better and if broken was fixable mid race if you snapped the rubber bands!
All these years on and I still think it’s the most incredible looking kit even now. So chuffed that you also went for the pink/green/yellow and black body too. I loved the original box pic but I always preferred the instruction manual paint job. It’s so eye-catching.
Wow, wish I had my one from 33 years ago. Tempted to get one for the man cave. Cheers Cecil for some fun years and giving me something 'engineering' to focus on.
Just finished rebuilding my original 'Pro Cat' from the 80s, along with it its brethren the 'Cat XLS' and the 'Boss Cat', all of which I raced to moderate success back in the day. Many thanks for such an awesome set of cars, and great memories. Shame I couldn't have kept my 2WD Schumacher cars as well, even then, money was tight.🙂
Love that humbling comment from Cecil on the cruciform. Having struggled on those when building my Cougar Classic I will alter my approach knowing his 10 year old daughter was able to do it back in the 90s 😁 Looking forward to this one chaps 🙌🏻
I hope to see the one way drive shafts for the procat even as an upgrade I have an original procat with mms upgrades and tanaplan front ajustable wish bones I will be placing an order for the re release procat
Good to see vintage is growing he says. Well the manufacturer did kill them off in the first place with evolution. Why has it taken so long for the manufacturers to notice that evolution goes full circle. It happens in model railways all the time. A remodel of a vehicle of all types. We done Cecil and how about bringing out some old school parts to recover those from the bottom of box of bits that cannot be used.
Delighted Mr Schumacher a fan of his own hub designs but for me they were the worst of the lot back then. The number of entirely stripped/self machined away huhs locking tabs I had because of either a slight misalignment fitting them, wheel screw coming loose whilst running or a combo of the two....well, it must have paid for a couple of his foreign holidays.

And Cecil’s spirit is highly inspirational!!!❤️💪
Well done chaps! Fantastic to see another classic from you all. 👍🏻👍🏻
If you want to dosomething out of the ordinary, I can remember people converting these into 4WD stadium trucks using Storm Club10 parts.
@@stewartlewis3503 Really! Cool info. :)

This is a dream come true!!! Thank you SCHUMACHER!🙏❤️
This was one of those dream buggies for me when i was a kid but could not afford it. Need to add this to my collection.

This looks amazing.
When you get to the Cougar 2 and Bosscat classics I think I'm probably going to end up divorced for buying them.
I only wish the Schumacher CAT XLS (Masami) will return again one more time one day for all those who miss the released 5 years ago...
Agree, I've been after one for ages but I'm not paying the ebay prices
yup me too...no crazy ebay price.
ive stil got my original Pro-cat stored away. it was a great car to drive.
Keep em coming guys.. love it! Will be ordering one and building it Christmas/boxing day 😎
I'm very Glad to see your father in good health Robin
Feel enlightened and enriched to have seen this! After a second hand Cat XL this was my first new to me car ❤

Thanks Cecil for another Aw3som3 Release - Gotta Love the Good Ol' Days
Good memories. No doubt
A nice set of 5 spoke wheels are needed for this kit, neon of course. I'm looking forward to a Cougar 2000 or a Storm stadium truck.
Great video, good to see Cecil, Just hope with all these rereleases they bring out spares for them also
I’m just trying to get my original one working from when I was a kid, just ordered some new parts thanks to the classic coming out.
Well done and thank you. It would be great if this time around the best price for this kit was found at Schumacher's website.

Got 3 of these but I'm having a new one if the price isn't crazy

Hi, what's the lowest turn brushless motor I can use on the standard transmission? Not modified
