Fear Factory are way, way, way more influential than people give them credit for. The chugging guitar/double bass pedal combo that you hear every band doing breakdowns with nowdays? Fear Factory did that first. Sung choruses? Fear Factory did that first. (How many fucking metal bands have used sung choruses since, think about it!) Using atmospheric electronic effects in interludes? Fear Factory. Demanufacture, Obsolete and Archetype are some of the best metal albums ever, no doubt.
I was thinking about this and honestly I'd credit the electronics to Rhys Fulber more than anyone; after all they did the whole industrial metal thing with FLA's Millenium before Fear Factory did Demanufacture.
fucking a, apparently that Bruno kid missed God Hates Us All among other albums that came out in that time frame, he must be a hot topic kid, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion,
Just look at these people jumping up and down all I wish I could have been there I was still only a kid at the time I hadn't even heard of Fear Factory yet until I heard linchpin for the first time I heard Lynch pants for the first time! I could feel the energy coming from that crowd from my screen I wish time travel was a thing I would go back in time and I would be there right now!
As i've mentioned with your other video's, this is the best SHOCK live recording on UA-cam, bloody awesome! I really wish they would put these into a live DVD.
I will never be able to choose between Fear factory and Slipknot, they are both then greatest death metal bands ever, my life would hopeless without both of them, angry people need music to damn it!
i saw these guys open for metallica once, they are great the singer walks and just says...........SHOCK!!!!!!! and all these strobe lights came on fucking brilliant
i got to meet burton and dino the other night after their show in SF, it was amazing. shock in particular was fuckin awesome, theres nothin like seein it live
@infinitepossibility fear factory got me into metal..i found a cd of their's when i was in 4th grade and it scared the shit out of me but i loved it. These guys are fucking amazing, they are pretty heavy for standard metal also with out gutterals. your a smart person :D
Can I just say again (sorry dudes!) that I was the first up crowd surfing when FF were at Brutal Assault fest. Czech republic, and Wolverhampton this year. FF kick so much ass on so many levels!! Fuck yeah!! woohoo!!
Have seen them live, and must personaly say, they are the best thing to happen in the meatl community in a long time. I hold them to high esteems and thier sound has been mimicked and coppied for a long time. Threat signal, and other bands owe their sound to Fear Factory.
FF saved me in my lowest point in life. If it wasn't for their music I don't think I'd be here. I have a emotional connection with FF and no other band has done that for me. Slipknot is more for the simple minded people. When people don't like FF it's because they can't open there minds to give it a chance or it's too complex. I agree with you on FF being harder to listen to. But you can't compare FF to Slipknot.... Slipknot is because of FF. Point blank.
Ill admit I fell out of the "metal loop" a while ago. Fear Factory was definitely on my top 5 back then. I dont know if it was me that changed or the music. but I cant seem to find any interest in these bands now days. but this is awesome right now going through these memories. like how heavy this song was when it came out.
i agree Fear Factory has set the bar up so high that no one can ever achieve it . Slipknot although heavy and all will never achieve the greatness of Fear Factory.
They were. BUT FF left that record company when they tried taking control of the band and telling them what to produce. Just because they were on the same record company does not mean they are the same. FF has been recording and producing their own music from their own studio for years now.
If you've heard their new stuff, you'll know it's not shameful at all. Dino's back in and they're playing here at the Big Day Out in Australia in a couple of weeks. That's fuckin awesome in my books.
FF KICKS ASS, THEYRE ONE OF THE BEST BANDS OF THE PLANET, SO BRUTAL, SO EXTREME, SO INDUSTRIAL, THIS GUYS ARE ONE OF THE BEST THINGS IN THE WHOLE WORLD. DEMANUFACTURE ALBUM WILL MAKE YOU SEE IT
@spawn22222 They are known as one of the first bands to mix different styles of metal together and pretty much popularized the use of both screamed and clean vocals
@IreneBodomChild now slipknots more like stone sour with extra members and costumes, i wouldnt be surprised to see them on tour with nickleback and puddle of mud next year
dude, these guys were around way before hot topic, if anything you should have said "spencers gifts" crowd. Since I bought my first 3 FF t-shirts from this store, way back in 97. Show some respect for one of the oldest SciFi Metal bands of all time.
@Connorpei Oh, I'm not saying they weren't. I believe Fear Factory is excellent. I'm just saying that they're a great band that knows how to emulate and execute their use of their influences to make a solid sound.
@SacerMorbus Wrong wrong! "Soul Of A New Machine" came out two years before Meshuggah's "None"-EP which is the first time they played the style they are now known for. But what is of course true is that Meshuggah were the first to combine the chugging with polyrhythmics, and THAT's what makes them special. But not the chugging.

Edsel Dope himself even stated that without Fear Factory there is no Static X and no Dope
so many bands have this band to thank for their sound, Korn, Meshuggah, all great bands, but FF is where it all started.
Meshuggah been doing it just as long..those 2 collectively imo
i seen these guys in '98 with slayer..one of the best shows i ever witnessed
fucking a, apparently that Bruno kid missed God Hates Us All among other albums that came out in that time frame, he must be a hot topic kid, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion,
Ren Stimpy yeah no doubt, i think psychosocial is a shit song btw

Just look at these people jumping up and down all I wish I could have been there I was still only a kid at the time I hadn't even heard of Fear Factory yet until I heard linchpin for the first time I heard Lynch pants for the first time! Burton is fuckin awesome...hands down one of the best vocalists, not many ppl sound the same life as they do on the albums
FF RULEZ
Seeing Fear Factory tonight for the first time in nearly 15 years. Have to ask, when did they swap Burton for Keifer Sutherland?
Foxtrot Hotel ... 24 years ago. 😂
@dentros Don't forget that Fear Factory was one of the first bands to fuse growls with clean vocals.
They were. BUT FF left that record company when they tried taking control of the band and telling them what to produce. Just because they were on the same record company does not mean they are the same. FF has been recording and producing their own music from their own studio for years now.
They never follow any fuckin trend!!!
They do their own shit, not fallin into nu metal or metalcore!
One of the best metal bands ever!
@dentros so true.. i second that
Seen them in Fargo 98, FUCKING AWESOME SHOW!!!!
If you've heard their new stuff, you'll know it's not shameful at all. Dino's back in and they're playing here at the Big Day Out in Australia in a couple of weeks. That's fuckin awesome in my books.

@Connorpei Oh, I'm not saying they weren't. I believe Fear Factory is excellent. I'm just saying that they're a great band that knows how to emulate and execute their use of their influences to make a solid sound.
