This report was made in 2021/22 before shocking and serious multiple allegations of sexual misconduct were levelled against Till Lindeman. Numerous women have described a system of grooming of young female fans for sex with the singer. This video does not address these accusations. It deals mainly with accusations of bad taste, extreme-right wing ideology and flirting with fascist iconography.
Now it has been proven innocent, given all the allegations got thrown out of court and she got exposed as someone seeking attention.@@DoorTechnicianRick
@@lari933 I heard they went into group therapy to sort out all of their issues with each other and I am glad they did because they are the same band now as when they started.
Rammstein are the real deal. They formed under the communist DDR government of east Germany and they and their music was suppressed by the communists government. They didn’t sell out.
I took my daughter to see Slipknot when she was 15. Going to see/learning about our musical tastes together was the happiest time between the two of us when she was a kid. She’s 27 now and still my favorite concert buddy. Music is everything. Remember to keep an open mind with your kids’ music. You might actually learn something. ❤❤
The band was never right-wing, but just attracted stereotypes (angry, militaristic perceptions) about Germany through their music and activities. Any band could have done the same without getting labeled as right-wing. Only Rammstein attracted controversy owing to their nationality. Sometimes, I think they just like to troll and let the ignorants market their music through this controversy. Only people who listen to them diligently know what their music is about, and how poetic and deep the lyrics can be.
Yes in the lyrics is a word, Neider. It's the german word for Envier. You must know that Germany is a society of envy. That with the right wing is from german newspapers . Just because they came from the GDR.
When the band came to Mexico in the 1990s opening to KISS everyone forgot about KISS and they couldn't stop talking about Rammstein, the quality is so superior.
Kiss sounds like a garage band. Rammstein sounds exactly what you expect from the biggest musical thing from Germany since Bethoven, exquisite quality, insane attention to detail, very industrial, and being about 100 years ahead of everything else.
One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life was to see Rammstein live in Berlin. 4 shows across Germany taking it all in. So many Germans kept asking “Why are you here?” I simply replied “there is no where better to see Rammstein.” I’ll come back this summer for the shows in Berlin! The band and the music mean so much to me. There is a song for every emotion.
@@DWHistoryandCulture This vid is a joke. Not critical at all. It's like a fan vid. All for the likes. It is important to stay critical here. But who cares.
I learned German because of Rammstein. Forgot most of it but still understand a fair amount. Gotta love the art of shock rock. From Kiss to Rammstein & others. It's art.
@Gus Fil wasn't for me. I was incentiveised by the music & friends/teacher of the time, so the drive was there. Plus, I practiced with software that helped me with pronunciations. The music also helped. Difficult ? No. It can be. Just like any subject, one just needs the right drive & cause to learn.
@@Jarihxit’s quite different than English structurally. Individual nouns are quite easy and logical. (Example Haus= House Tier= Animal Haustier= pet. However, what’s really confusing is that each noun has one of three genders Der, Die, or Das which in English would be replaced by simply saying The. Also most sentences have the verb at the end. So „I’m going to the shop“ is „Ich bin der Laden gehen“ which literally translates to „I am the shop going“… so no, it’s not actually very easy
@@adamcraft9118 That's true. I am used to dealing with different genders as I speak spanish, (i know they dont translate the same way) but anyway without proper studies i have been able to survive around german speaking countries with my caveman pronunciation and knowledge on the language. So the very basic, without going deep, is easy and could be enough
showing the evil in our society doesn't always mean encouraging it. i think rammstein does a great job showing it, and creating a discussion. i never believed that they were right-wing, and i was sure after reading an interview on a turkish magazine. their music was one of the things that influenced me to move to berlin and i can't wait to see them live in july.
Rammstein is inspired by the Slovenian industrial band Laibach who also use the elements and symbols of totalitarian regimes in their shows but apparently they are left wing. Laibach has anti-capitalism inclinations and they were supporter of occupy movement!
As a Berlin citizen it is always something special to visit a concert of an Berlin based band. But going to a Rammstein concert is unique. Olympiastadion Berlin, more than 60.000 fans sing songs like "Deutschland" or "Du hast" as loud as they. It is great but a bit scary too. It gives an idea of how fanatism works. You feel as one powerful and unstopable organism. I will be there again. July 2023!
I must say, i really need to watch a Concert at the Olympiastadion Vom Fußball werde ich da in den letzten Jahren ja leider oft enttäuscht, wenn mal wieder Heimspiel ist :(
Part of my family was one wiped out during the Holocaust. I personally love that Rammstein are not afraid to use evocative imagery to call out the worst parts of history. I got misty eyed the first time I saw Deutschland. Look at the patches they wear in camp scene- there is a lot of significance there, representing the people who died for being different race, politics, or sexual orientation. This is absolutely what Rammstein has always been about, bold expression to make you think.
From an American's perspective: Rammstein IS Germany, Germany IS Rammstein. Yes, Germany is still to this day associated with either happy images of forest dancing beer drinking jovial yodelers or even overpositive, "safe" people who are super efficient and nice, or they're linked to their history, with its many rises, falls, highs and lows, from Bismarck to Adolf, the Wall and Reunification. But what is at the center of it all? You find a country very willing to push buttons, boundaries, and the ironic preconception of modern Germany has only made the ignorantly kindly outside impose this odd view that Germans are simply the former, they cannot speak about their darker times because it somehow revives their Inner Adi or some silly notion. Rammstein and their song "Deutschland" is not just a push from formerly East Germans expressing themselves from a highly rigid society, it's a national expression of "We are German, we know we the past century was completely f*cked in the head, yet we are going to keep our heads high because we can, and we will do better!" Or from a WW1 German's communique, "Die Lage ist ernst, aber nicht hoffnungslos".
That's exactly what all 'art' should be regardless of the medium. Art should comfort those who are disturbed and disturb those who are comfortable. It should make you think, open your mind to question what you know, feel, think, or understand, and perhaps alter those things or even reinfoce them. That's its purpose when done properly. And Rammstein does it properly. Art is ultimately subjective, but it shouldn't be scared to be provocative and force people to look at all of humanity, the good, the bad, and the ugly. That's what I hate about 'cancel culture' of Gen-Z. They're not willing to be subjective or question what's perhaps uncomfortable to them. Instead, they entrench themselves in their own feelings and what they WANT to understand, and if they don't like how it makes them feel they try to remove it from everyone else's view and enforce their own views on everyone else as a result and try to be the arbiters of everyone else's reactions and thoughts. Theyre hardly proponents of free speech and freedom of expression. Yet try to force all of society to use THEIR choice of language, such as pronouns. Yet fail to see the irony in that. lol. It's a tad ridiculous really to me. It's just art and expression. Let it be and allow everyone their own experiences and feelings about it. Provocation isn't a bad thing. That's what I think and feel anyway. I'm sure some will disagree. Lol.
My dad went on a work trip to Germany when I was a young teen and brought back the album Mutter. He told my younger brother and I we HAD to hear this band. It changed our lives. I took German in high school because I loved the band so much. This past year, my brother and I were able to see one of their live shows during the North America Stadium Tour, another life changing moment. They are my all time favorite band and I can’t wait to see what they continue to bring to humankind in the future. ❤️❤️❤️
I got to see them during the North American Stadium Tour, too! Life changing indeed! I had been listening to their music since I was 12, and had never gotten a chance to see them live. I had to wait until I was 36 years old. I hope I get to go see them again one day! Fun fact: when I was 18 years old, I would play Rammstein albums at home and my 3 year old little sister would dance to it.
@@wandererstraining Hahaha I heard them since I was 13 when I got my first PC back in 2000, I never thought or even imagined that I would watch them playing live someday. Now I'm 35, almost the same history as you. Greetings from Mexico!

It was 1997 when "Du Hast" was released, I was 4 years old and it blew my mind as a kid when I saw the video on MTV. I'll never forget that day and I will always remember when my Mom kept re-recording the video on VHS, so she can show my Dad once he came home from work. It blew his mind as well because we became huge fans ever since that day and Rammstein never disappointed us since. Now, fast forward 25 years later and I finally went to my first Rammstein concert here in NJ at MetLife Stadium. As in my Dad's honor, especially since it has been 10 years since he has have been gone, I made sure to not miss this show at all. I took my 64 year old rockstar Mom along with me because she's a metalhead herself and we couldn't miss this opportunity. Plus, Mom and I just couldn't stop headbanging to every song Rammstein played and we were in section 226, which was an excellent experience and I uploaded some videos myself on UA-cam. By the way, to all of you on here, Rammstein is one of my all time favorite bands and definitely the greatest band you will ever since live, which is why I recommend you all to one day go to their concert. 🎸🤘
Wow, you are true fans indeed! Fantastic that you were and still are having such a good time with them and the music. Thanks a lot for sharing your story!
@@DWHistoryandCultureYou're very welcome and it's an honor to share my story with everyone! There's no better feeling than being able to share with others who have the same love for an artist or band as you do.
Hi There, I brought my brother to his first Rammstein concert in Chicago this past Sept. I've seen them three times now! I've also been a fan since 1997! Love your story about going with your mom. I have videos on my channel too! 😆🤘🎸🎶
Deutschland by Rammstein is true masterpiece, both video and the music are work of genius minds. Its probably the peak of Rammstein creativity for me personaly.
There is a culture in Germany about not being proud, unless you're a migrant. I think Germans has plenty of reasons to be proud though. The shame of ww2 is way in your past now. You have one of the best countries in the world. Be PROUD of your unions and workers rights, be PROUD of your civil society, be PROUD of what you've built. I'd say those are some but not even close to all the reasons Germans should be proud.
@@tracklizard4018 National pride only leads to discrimination and exclusion and is also the reason for many wars. So no point in being proud of a social construct called nationality
For years as a kid I always thought they had just one song "du hast", and some years ago I started with listening their other songs. It was like a world was opening for me. Since then I have been to their concert in 2022 with my father, and because I asked him, another world has opened. Their not simple like many people think, you just have to open your eyes to Rammstein and you will receive pure beauty and art. My father and I are going again in july 2023, just to experience it again.
Yes I agree people don’t understand there intentions they aren’t trying to be racist they are just trying to use history and other events as a way to express there music

as someone from latin america, yeah, lots of people like Rammstein here. I personally know a few, certainly not "everyone" but it ain't hard to find one.
The best band ever. Since 14 y.o. I've been listening their music. They saved my life few times (when I wanted suicide) and teached me how to be strong despite all. Love them.
When it comes to metal if something seems controversial and offensive it's intentionally designed that way to get the listener to think. The genre tends to challenge things in a shocking manner throwing things in your face making it very difficult to ignore it. I've really always enjoyed these guys. I'm glad and grateful that they've been around.
I and some friends skipped our last ever days of High School to travel to see Rammstein on the Mütter tour - I've seen them two times since then (along with literally over 100 other rock and metal gigs) and can comfortably say they are the best live acts in history. No-one else comes close to the spectacle of their shows. They've taken the Rock&Roll Vaudeville concept pioneered by the likes of Alice Cooper (who I've also seen twice and highly recommend) and raised it to the stratosphere. Everyone should see this band at least once.
Foe me it's the POWER of the music, I can't understand the words but the beat and powerful vibes speak straight to my soul. It's flat out beautiful, perfect music. I'm disabled with internal issues that make me so very sick most days of the week, but Rammstein makes me feel young and strong again in my heart and mind. The band has helped me through suicidal times due to my illness, I'll love them forever. For a suggestion video Id love to hear the story behind Eisbrecher, they're extremely good to my ears too. Thanks so much for this video, I really enjoyed it alot.
There's kind of a refreshing sort of purity about Rammstein. They're all about their art, but not in a pretentious way. They want to make cool little action films and play with fire and just do cool stuff. They've never phoned it in, and they've never gouged their fans like some other musicians their age **cough metallica cough**. They could probably make more money if they dialled back their production costs a bit, but that wouldn't do for them.
Very few artists/bands have managed to sustain themselves for all these years like Rammstein have. Not only are their shows still epic, their music has never flopped. Respect 🤜🤛
Ive been a fan since I was 13. It was 1998 and one of our local rock radio stations had gotten into their music, so they were keeping Du Hast in rotation. Once I heard it I was instantly memorized.Once I saw their stage presence though, I was a diehard fan. I'm 37 now and that hasn't changed. Went and saw them last Summer on their stadium tour. It was a dream come true for me! Bless Rammstein and their dedication to their craft.
Rammstein is a visual masterpiece composed by a group of artists, every video and show, you don't need to understand the German language to admire this group, I watched their first videos in 1998 and I still marvel to see them today, I sleep listening to their music .
When my mother past, I went to my pub and the bartender played Rammstein for me the whole evening. Some customers complained, but the bartender said: tonight we play only Rammstein, capiche? I will never forget. Rammstein ist mein Hertz ❤️❤️❤️

It started with a woman saying he never touched her, next they said : if he didn't touch her, it's proof he r*ped others, in a week it was dozens, in a month they screamed on podcasts it was hundreds or even thousands and he should be in prison without trial, for life ! Man, didnt expect a documentary here! For me the band is presenting itself and the music as a grotesque satire of our society, which is brave and gives them their gripping appeal I think. Anyways, cant wait to go to my second concert this year!
They're very authentic with their art. Powerful music and messages, and amazing stage performances. I love that they sing in German. One of the great bands of our time.
Saw them on opener show, Montreal Canada, 2022. Everyone held onto their tickets for the 3rd attempt. True fans!! That large plain black stage, comes alive. The sound was insane loud, outdoors Why would someone say, “controversial” After immense global presence, what’s wrong with the rests mentality?
they are nothing but plagiarists: they picked up many "shock/right wing" effects from the band Laibach as well as the way singer sings, i.e. the vocals..for example their most famous song "Du hast" is a stolen song "Just one fix" from the band Ministry etc... don't mix real artists with plagiarists, they picked up almost everything from alternative bands, mixed it all, tweaked it a bit, invested a lot in production and made some mix that goes mainstream for yeras..
They made me interested in learning the nuances of German culture. I owe him for adrenaline, my love for the bundesliga, wurst - so many things German. Expanded my horizons dramatically.
Well, there's one thing I adore about german art as a whole: it's not just fun, etertaining shallow and obvious. It attacks and provokes discussion! The existance of this documentary proves the point! And why is that great? Turns out it's not just an ode to asthetics or a picture of our everyday, it brings enlightment on what is wrong with us, so we can fix that and be better as individuals and society.
It's probably only people who don't know Rammstein and don't speak German who ask themselves this kind of question. They wrote a song literally saying they're leftist, Links: Sie wollen mein Herz am rechten Fleck / they want my heart on the right place doch seh ich dann nach unten weck / but if i look down on me dann schlägt es links / then it beats left
The working title of the song Links 2 3 4 was simply Links. A demo-version with this file name was released as a free MP3 download on the official website as a promotion on the forthcoming album Mutter on December 10, 2000. When this is a political statement, why change the name? And you should see the complete lyrics as a whole & not cherry-picking 3 sentences. The heart always beats on the left anatomically, with rare exceptions. And in Old-German, the word "rechten" can mean "richtigen" (Translation: correct)
It reminds me of the time the Republican party tried to use Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" when if you look at the lyrics beyond just the title you realize it is about struggle.
@@DoktorUebel You should also see the artists interpret the song the way they see fit, and at every live performance, the message is made clear. Der Neider hat es schlecht gewußt, da schlägt es LINKS! HEY! ... LINKS!
when I moved to Germany in the late 90s, Rammstein was just getting huge in my area, and it helped me learn German AND connect to my peers. I owe very much to them, and while I evolved musically and don't listen to that much "Deutschrock" anymore, I still await every release of theirs.
I was raised in Bavaria germany for 28 years. Bavaria is the only state in Germany which rolls the " R" . They adapted the accent in their lyrics to make it sound more intense
The pronunciation on their records is so good, it could be used to teach german. Even if you know no german at all, you can singalong next time you hear it. This happens a lot on their concerts abroad where the larger part of the audience has no clue what Till is singing.
Rammstein is a highly intelligent Band. They play (literally) with being doubtful and this makes them such great artists. Most of their songs, if not all, can be read in so many different expressions but only the “dumb people” will think that’s right mental goods. I see a lot of Rammstein reaction videos by English folks and it’s some kind of funny but also sad that they never get the full potential of this band just because German is a language that can express so many different things with the same words. And I love how the whole world is fascinated by this band. Greetings by a german🖖🏻
In order to understand the lyrics properly, you not only need to get the language, but also the historical references the band points to. And there are plenty. Even I as a German sometimes do not get all of their references hearing the songs. These boys are really clever when it comes to lyrics, and I guess you have to keep in mind their roots in the GRD, where you had to be really careful what to say in public (or on stage).
I have met the band members back in 1999 and spent a few days having some small conversations with them. They were not super well known in States at that time, so there were no intimidation or a star stuck feeling. Looking back I am impressed how humble they were and how fun it was to communicate at that time. Last year I went to seem them in LA Coliseum during the North America Tour. That was good and I would not mind to go again when they come back!
THE STRUGGLE OF MY LIFE: being a 12 y/o boy with Mutter in his hands listening to that powerful songs and people watching kids with the Sehnsucht backpacks that was kinda "polemic" at that times with all of the controversia around Marilyn Manson and that kind of aesthetic. Such a great time to be a young boy and develop unique personality
They are part of the reason that I attempted to learn to speak German. I didn't do very well. On a side note, before my biological father created me, he was stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. (I'm American.) He had a daughter over there and we didn't know about each other until we were in our 20's. Now we speak fairly regularly and she has taught me a little of the language and her children still try to teach me even though I'm horrible at it.🤣
Love this band, for over 20 years. My 30 year old son loved them also and we combined our "Zune Collections", yes that is how far back we go. Even though I am an American Hungarian and live in the US, I know enough German to know this is NOT a far right band. Would love to see them play live, but man the tickets are so expensive nowadays. But the music is SO GOOD... And Dammit, Americans, it is pronounced like "Rahm Schtein"... not "Ram Stein or Ram Schteen". By the way, the film was pretty good... Another Documentary called Rammstein in Amerika is awesome also.
I feel like Richard was the game changer. It did take forever to even mention him here but I’m pretty sure his style and music writing abilities are mostly what we think of with the “Rammstein sound”. Him and Christian too
I love these guys I met them and got to do the sound check and work the sound booth for their NYC show in 2010 Madison Square garden. They were all really polite I've seen them 6 times already.
Regarding the band name, I've read two reasons many years ago why they chose Rammstein. The first is the airshow disaster as mentioned in the video. The second is that the word also means a battering ram made of stone; "ramming stone". A parallel for how their music hits you. Perhaps they chose the name for both reasons.
I was raised partelly in the same district "Prenzlauer Berg" in Berlin were Feeling B / Rammstein lived. Was lucky to witness the empty occupied houses and the alternative Punk feeling. My parents still live there. It's even today still a leftie place though the big gentrification process in Berlin after the Fall of the Wall started here and today more wealthy ppl live there and most of the clubs are closed. Nethertheless it's still a cultural and night life hot spot in Berlin. So Rammstein is left-wing orientated with liberal touch.
Is weirdly ironic that just because of their Nationality and the music genre they are in (Rock) Rammstein are labeled as right-wing or the lyrics of their songs have no meaning, when they literally have some really interesting and kind of deep lyrics. Deutschland for example is a beautiful melody of the band loving their country but can't love them fully for the awful sins of their story or Adieu that speaks about dead loved ones and the desire of seeing them again. So many more songs too in the large history of the band have done that as well; although we can't ignore some like "Diche Titten" or "Du Rischt so gud" (hope I'm spelling it good enough) it still can be argued that they are just having fun and trolling those who never really wanted to give them a chance in the first place
Deutschland was the song that really got me into Rammstein when it came out. The lyrics are so fantastic and I relate to them so much nowadays being from both the US and Germany. It captures through art exactly how I feel about both countries in a way I couldn’t really put a finger on 🤷🏼♀️
Let the guys have some little goofy fun. Such songs act as a relieve from the more serious topics they tackle. Sometimes they like to stick their fingers in the honeypot :)
@@hurricane7800 Same situation as you with Deutschland. The song managed to express my feelings in a way I hadn't been able to explain to people before.
Even though Dicken Titten may seems goofy, if you listen to the text, you notice it again has a much deeper meaning, some like Deutchland, Äuslander, Adeui what are maybe grander topics, Zick-Zack, Dicke Titten, Du Riechst zo Gut all have the same double message hidden. Dicke Titten is more of people that desire something for years, but yet fail to see its right in front of them all the time, maybe just not exactly how you imagined it, if you just would be more open minded, Hence Richard's role and the all the woman surrounding him that he desired but fails to see Zick-Zack is also such a song with a huge tong in cheek to a certain demographic of people and of they fakeness to keep trying to look younger, instead of embracing your age.. But like they always do, the songs and clips compliment each other to puzzle out the hidden/deeper meaning of they songs.
Rammstein’s lyrics range from sentimental to mysterious to inspirational. Powerful, strong and so dramatic - they ARE energy and poetry combined. It’s fun and interesting to learn German from the lyrics.
I love these guys and have seen 6 of their concerts. The first year's ago on a small venue on Hollywood Blvd, we arrived early and were next to the stage. Then September 2022 saw them at the LA Coliseum!!! So fun.
Rammstein is pure art. They have created a genre of their own... Their lyrics are deep and meaningful, albeit dark and grotesque. The reason they are so hated is that people know them only by their rephrains; and the rephrains on their own are sounding rightwing indeed, but when you hear the whole text it makes perfect sense for anyone with a leftsided mind - and the reaction of the people is part of their art - just like the goldfish-in-the-blender art was meant to startle people, and the reaction was the whole pointe. Not the fish, not the blender. But the audience's reaction. Much love and respect for you guys in Rammstein.
They tell little story's in every song. And a lot are so catchy, they will always be on your mind. The "softer" ones like Rosenrot or Ohne dich were my beginning with Rammstein. And know, I can't forget them. The message of Deutschland really hit me, and describes the mixed feelings a lot of Germans have... I think I still hear them, because of their punk roots and the tendency to not take themselves too serious. I listen a lot to Die Ärzte which are still Punkrock and make silly and funny stuff.
Rammstein is the best metal band in the world by far. Each song has a different story and it touches my heart.Rammstein has loyal fans all over the world.🇹🇷🇹🇷 I would love to talk with Till lindemann once in real life.
I've been in the "know" since the release of Herzeleid. They bring up some very taboo imagery via song lyric, videos, and live performances. I love Rammstein! That said, there are some songs I just can't listen to anymore after I had learned German. Throughout the late 90s I truly loved Spiel mit Mir. Then I learned German and had to stop listening to it. But there are so many amazingly beautiful songs - some of which are dark and deep while others jaunty and uplifting.
I was in Germany for work many years ago. One day I saw Rammstein perform Ich Will on TV. I've been hooked ever since. As far as I'm concern they are the best hard rock band on the planet.
The band's never right-wing and never will. Its music made me and my best friend learn German. Love from one of the many Rammstein fans from the Philippines!
I owe my own undying fanaticism of RAMMSTEIN to THE MATRIX SOUNDTRACK. 1998 I was 8 in NYC and immediately bought the MATRIX SOUNDTRACK at Sam Goodies after seeing the movie. DU HAST was the first song on the soundtrack and I fell absolutely in love with RAMMSTEIN.
I was hooked the first time hearing "Du Hast" and have been a fan since. I can't believe its been so long since then but love to hear how Till is so connected to his home town.
Contrary to various comments, the song that introduced me to the world of Rammstein was Sehnsucht (live from Berlin, 1998). Although I don't know much german (just some few words) I understand the lyrics via translators (even with the mistakes that translations app makes). I think Rammstein is one of a kind band. They are not the type of guys that are feared to put taboo themes as topics for "normal" conversations.
I love Rammstein. I love the lyrics of their songs and their hidden meanings! I also visited the concert in Stuttgart in 2022 and it was great! It was really expensive (126€) but I don’t regret any coin at all!!!
As a german it was somewhat common in my schools year 10 and further to write essays analizing the poetry and deeper messages of Rammstein songs. They`re like onions: so, so many layers and sometimes someone starts crying.
I discovered Rammstein a couple of years ago and have been hooked ever since. Saw them in Chicago in September. I never thought they were right-ring. It’s always been clear to me that they use their music to critique culture and not just theirs. Amerika is “not a love song” about the USA. It’s a parody of America’s inescapable influence around the world…for good or for ill. I just think they’re amazing, the band as a whole and each member’s individual story and what they bring to the band. It would be awesome to know them personally and to see whatever juxtaposition exists between their personal lives and their onstage persona and to know what makes them tick and how that influences their creative process.
According to wiki, Rammstein didn't name themselves after that air show accident.. "After the band became popular, the band members denied the connection to the air show disaster and said that their name was inspired by the giant doorstop-type devices found on old gates, called Rammsteine.[4] The extra "m" in the band's name makes it translate literally as "ramming stone"."
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation soundtrack featured both Engel and Du Hast. That was largely because of Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. After a while, my local radio station KSJO started playing Rammstein and they found that their listeners started requesting the songs in German. And that’s how Rammstein got airplay in German here in California.
I met Till Lindemann (the lead singer) at an airport I used to work. I never had that misogynistic vibe. Some are trying to portray him. As a matter of fact, he was a rather chivalrous, well put, intellectual gentleman during my entire interaction with him. We even spoke a bit about literature and poetry I was surprised how flawless his English was
I was 14 years old when I 1st watched "Du Hast" on MTV and I was speechless! The melody, the power of their sound, their appearance, totally amazed me and I started looking for more infos about this band. As a greek, of course I knew not a single word in german, I was just amazed by their music! Later at my 20's, I met my boyfriend, fortunately we like the same music and we started together learning german, because of Rammstein, so we could understand 1/10 of what the heck we liked so much! In 2010, we attended their concert here in Greece! We have photos of the flags: England-Germany 1-4 and we still laugh when we remember that beautiful night we spent with their songs! If only our country could support/would consider more seriously an event as huge as worlwide, the way Rammstein actually do it! I mean, they play with fire and their concert took place inside... a forest! 😅😂 This year, we're looking forward to see them again live! They're brilliant and have evolved so much, they're top notch!
@@insaneKGandJB thanks! Already got tickets for this Thursday in Athens! Didn't wanna miss this chance, not sure if we ever get another one! 😁 There's an amateur 2hour video from Belgrade's concert here in UA-cam, I watched a couple of minutes, but I didn't wanna ruin the expectation I have,so I stopped it! If you were there, I'm sure you had fun!
I love this band, so talented musicians, every video is a movie itself and the lyrics are very profound. There are many UA-cam channels analising their lyrics that helped me to understand them.
Saw them open for KMFDM in the 90s here in Vegas at the Old Huntridge, knew they would big but never could imagine how they would change music culture they way they have.
I saw them in Tulsa, Oklahoma back in the 90's in a relatively small venue (The Cain's Ballroom) opening for KMDM (I was a fan of KMFDM and knew little of Rammstein at that time). Rammstein completely blew my mind. Till Lindemen sang one entire song donned in a silver, fireproof suit which was doused with an accelerant and set aflame. I kept thinking "What am I seeing here?!" They were amazing. KMFDM, while good, paled in comparison.
Sure let's throw the allegations in too... I guess innocent untill proven guilty ain't a thing anymore in our social media society
Any chance of an appology, now that the accusations are proven to be false?

I love that Rammstein still has all the same members. They are timeless.
if one member leaves then Rammstein isn't Rammstein anymore. They all contribute their own things to the songs and no one could replace them.
I'm also glad none of them has lost an arm or a leg.
@@lari933 I heard they went into group therapy to sort out all of their issues with each other and I am glad they did because they are the same band now as when they started.
Rammstein are the real deal. They formed under the communist DDR government of east Germany and they and their music was suppressed by the communists government. They didn’t sell out.
as with any band, they have said that it has been very difficult to maintain that.
My German husband took our 15 year old daughter to Rammstein last September. They blew her mind. We love their music, and they are really great guys.
Your husband knows how to raise children, I'll give him that

I took my daughter to see Slipknot when she was 15. Going to see/learning about our musical tastes together was the happiest time between the two of us when she was a kid.
How is military themes right wing at all tho
Yes in the lyrics is a word, Neider. It's the german word for Envier. You must know that Germany is a society of envy. That with the right wing is from german newspapers . Just because they came from the GDR.
Seems to me the only ignorants is the band themselves 😭😭😭
@@staniyabuns.productions7132What do you mean by that?
"America" has pretty deep lyrics. Very contemporary, i'd say. Pretty much explains what's happening right now. Rammstein saw it decades ago. Wise men.
When the band came to Mexico in the 1990s opening to KISS everyone forgot about KISS and they couldn't stop talking about Rammstein, the quality is so superior.
Wow, thanks for sharing that memory!!
KISS is like: but what happened dude
the same happened to a kiss concert in brazil in 1998. Kiss who?
Kiss sounds like a garage band. Rammstein sounds exactly what you expect from the biggest musical thing from Germany since Bethoven, exquisite quality, insane attention to detail, very industrial, and being about 100 years ahead of everything else.
Saw them about 10 years ago in Tacoma, Washington. Best show I’ve EVER seen hands down!

Karl Rock! Hello
One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life was to see Rammstein live in Berlin. 4 shows across Germany taking it all in. So many Germans kept asking “Why are you here?” I simply replied “there is no where better to see Rammstein.”
I’ll come back this summer for the shows in Berlin! The band and the music mean so much to me. There is a song for every emotion.
Wow, that’s a true commitment. Enjoy it!
Actually there kinda is. Nearly all their live-material is recorded in South America or in France because those get the biggest crowd-participation.

@Gus Fil If you speak english it shouldnt be that hard, if you keep listening to music and read the lyrics you should learn a fair amount easily
@Gus Fil Good luck brother, you got it
@@Jarihxit’s quite different than English structurally. Individual nouns are quite easy and logical. (Example Haus= House
Tier= Animal
Haustier= pet.
I am used to dealing with different genders as I speak spanish, (i know they dont translate the same way) but anyway without proper studies i have been able to survive around german speaking countries with my caveman pronunciation and knowledge on the language. showing the evil in our society doesn't always mean encouraging it. i think rammstein does a great job showing it, and creating a discussion. i never believed that they were right-wing, and i was sure after reading an interview on a turkish magazine. their music was one of the things that influenced me to move to berlin and i can't wait to see them live in july.

July 2023!
I must say, i really need to watch a Concert at the Olympiastadion
Vom Fußball werde ich da in den letzten Jahren ja leider oft enttäuscht, wenn mal wieder Heimspiel ist :(
Sorry but there's nothing scary about it. Its beautiful. Just enjoy it!
This exactly❤🎉
From an American's perspective:
Rammstein IS Germany, Germany IS Rammstein.
Rammstein and their song "Deutschland" is not just a push from formerly East Germans expressing themselves from a highly rigid society, it's a national expression of "We are German, we know we the past century was completely f*cked in the head, yet we are going to keep our heads high because we can, and we will do better!"
Or from a WW1 German's communique, "Die Lage ist ernst, aber nicht hoffnungslos".
There is a culture in Germany about not being proud, unless you're a migrant. I think Germans has plenty of reasons to be proud though. The shame of ww2 is way in your past now.

There's kind of a refreshing sort of purity about Rammstein. They're all about their art, but not in a pretentious way. They want to make cool little action films and play with fire and just do cool stuff.

Live shows of Rammstein aren't really shows... They're more like a spectacle and an experience.
Ha, Im not a typical Rammstein fan, but I would love to experience their concert for once (or twice), like you say its a spectacle and experience.
Wow, you were really lucky back then. Thanks for sharing!
They put on THE BEST concert EVER. Hands down! Nothing else will ever compare.
Yep, ive seen a lot of bands live and no one comes close to rammstein
Exactly😂❤❤❤
They are not right, left or centre.....they are the best industrial metal + hard rock + gothic metal in the world!!🖤🖤🖤
They are not Gothic Metal. Gothic Metal is Nightwish and Lacuna Coil. There is an obvious difference.
They are not goth and they are certainly left, they even said so in an interview and wrote a song about being lefties. Lmao
They are part of the reason that I attempted to learn to speak German. I didn't do very well. On a side note, before my biological father created me, he was stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. (I'm American.) He had a daughter over there and we didn't know about each other until we were in our 20's. Now we speak fairly regularly and she has taught me a little of the language and her children still try to teach me even though I'm horrible at it.🤣
Rammstein is absolutely brilliant in every aspect of how they showcase their art!
After loving this band for 20+ years, I finally got to see them play live last summer in Montreal. Amazing show!
Rammstein motivated me to start learning Deutsch!!
Liebe aus India ❤️❤️
I feel like Richard was the game changer. It did take forever to even mention him here but I’m pretty sure his style and music writing abilities are mostly what we think of with the “Rammstein sound”. Him and Christian too
I love to see how they approach things most bands won’t touch with a 10 foot pole. There is always at least one more hidden meaning in every song
*battering ram = Rammstein, something that can break down doors or barriers.
Interesting linguistic aspect, Ben, thanks for sharing!
Deutschland is my favourite. This documentary has been a long time coming. Thanks for this.
trash
I've heard about this band before but I didn't know how incredible they were! Now I can say I love Rammstein!
Dicke Titten is more of people that desire something for years, but yet fail to see its right in front of them all the time, maybe just not exactly how you imagined it, if you just would be more open minded, Hence Richard's role and the all the woman surrounding him that he desired but fails to see
Zick-Zack is also such a song with a huge tong in cheek to a certain demographic of people and of they fakeness to keep trying to look younger, instead of embracing your age..
But like they always do, the songs and clips compliment each other to puzzle out the hidden/deeper meaning of they songs.
The content from DW is getting better and better, keep it up guys, great job.
Oh, thank you a lot! We really appreciate your words.
In my teens, I listened to this guys (still do when working out). They were not as popular in the US, as the were in Mexico.
So fun.
With Links 2 3 4 they made a pretty clear statement about their political view
ALLES GUTE ZUM GEBURTSTAG, Till ❣️🤘
Rammstein is the only band today which produces good music. Unique, full of art, high quality and many more..
Just listen to what they sing and you know they are absolutely not right!!!
They want my heart on the right but when I look down it’s beating left 🖤
they are Progressive, but not Communist if that makes sense.
@@andrewwinslow9315 ofc it does, only Americans struggle with the concept
@@andrewwinslow9315 They may not be comrades but IDK if I'd hold that against them, they did grow up in East Germany afterall.
Actually for me, the music got me! the way they compliment each other is amazing. The language barrier did not stop me from liking the band.
I was in Germany for work many years ago. One day I saw Rammstein perform Ich Will on TV. I've been hooked ever since. As far as I'm concern they are the best hard rock band on the planet.
The band's never right-wing and never will. Its music made me and my best friend learn German. Love from one of the many Rammstein fans from the Philippines!
interesante, ustedes son los latinos de asia. y los de guinea ecuatorial son los latinos de africa......el resto estamos en america.
That the Press and Media is still debating if Rammstein is right-whing or not is laughable.
I was hooked the first time hearing "Du Hast" and have been a fan since. I can't believe its been so long since then but love to hear how Till is so connected to his home town.
What’s the song is playing at 3:10? I know I’ve heard it before but don’t know what album it’s off of.
One of the best bands of all time imo
Contrary to various comments, the song that introduced me to the world of Rammstein was Sehnsucht (live from Berlin, 1998). Although I don't know much german (just some few words) I understand the lyrics via translators (even with the mistakes that translations app makes). I think Rammstein is one of a kind band. They are not the type of guys that are feared to put taboo themes as topics for "normal" conversations.
Never thought of them as other than lefties but than again im an old Norwegian lefty so i am maybe biased 😎😈🇧🇻
They have never been controversial, they are just talented artists doing art.
That's what a classical musician said recently. The German press should finally understand that Rammstein makes art. 😂
We even spoke a bit about literature and poetry I was surprised how flawless his English was
Why all the pictures of Till? There are six members 🙄
Because, he is the one, who rolls the R.😄
Happy birthday Till!🥳
The thumbnail isn't even Rammstein, it's from Till's side project LOL
You're absolutely right. Above all, because they see themselves as a collective. Everyone deserves the same. No hierarchies.
I mean, they play with fire and their concert took place inside... a forest! 😅😂
This year, we're looking forward to see them again live! They're brilliant and have evolved so much, they're top notch!
Hope you guys enjoy! Belgrade was really fun :)
Rammstein is the only band on my bucket list to see before I'm gone. Been listening to them since I was 15 (early 40s now)
0:15 which song is this? Someone please let me know! Thank you!
My absolute favorite band of all times. The reason I started learning German
This band is so unique no one can imitate them!
Not only one of the best rock bands ever, but first of all, they’re are true artists!
