@@ce2341NO. That's Michael Moore and that specific interview was from his film "Bowling for Columbine" which was about the school shooting in Littleton CO. Moore was on Marilyn's side more than against. He blamed gun control rather than the music the shooters favored. He helped make K-mart remove ALL non hunting ammo from their stores from this school shooting. His silence was to let Marilyn's point resonate if anything at all.

i was 11 when i went to my first punkrock show with my dad, i smelled weed and asked him what is that? "some weird tobacco" i ended up crowdsurfing as an 11 year old and coming home with a white t shirt and right on my chest was a large print of a boot.
many of my teachers disliked me on school because i was different, they even said that in class while i was there. which made me even more rebbeliant towards "sheep people" im older now and father and can say, back then i had more common sence in me then my teacher.

My father was this way. We shared many musical interest although he favored Bob Dylan and more folk music. We listened to Manson for the music as intended. It's not about having an open mind, it's about having YOUR OWN mind and knowing that everyone else has their own. Don't be a sheep to anyone's opinions, ideologies or demands. Make educated opinions based on your own research or remain ignorant but silent on those topics.
Being ignorant is not a bad thing in most situations. We're not meant to know everything. Just remember that the general population is actually ignorant to the stuff they say or believe. Don't live your life based on others opinions.

My childhood was filled with physical abuse, mental abuse, and sexual abuse. Marilyn Manson's music allowed me the channel my frustration, my silence, and my vulnerability through his songs. It felt like the emotions and thoughts I was never allowed to express outward, I was able to express through his words. His words were not my own but it felt like he understood what it was like to constantly be mislabeled, misunderstood, and misled. I always wished I had the confidence to put my foot down and stand up for myself. Im 38 now and I'm still struggling to get out from under the weight of a ruined childhood. I had some traumatic stuff happen to me as a kid and to the degree that I don't like talking about it, but as someone else who has some insight of what your going through I can offer some advice. Manson's song helped me realize my anger through words and release some of that pressure that clouded my mind all the time, and in doing this it allowed me to think about what I was thinking rather than just experiencing these thoughts. Manson's songs offer a great way to vent bottled up emotions in a safe and healthy way, and can grant great relief, but If you ever want to truly get past it, your the one who has to do it. There is a way to get past it once and for all, so here's what I did. I personally believe that all problems and issues have a root cause and stem from something. It was unpleasant, but I managed to mentally separate everyday thoughts from thoughts about what I had gone through. By doing this I managed to DISARM my thoughts and memories, NOT GETTING RID of them. You yourself are the one who truly gets to decide how much of your life your trauma controls, so I took control of my head rather than it taking control of me. I mentally separated those negative thoughts and thought of them almost like snow globes, I can still think of them and how I felt at the time, but not suffer any distress when reflecting. Because, although I can still remember and think of my trauma, I managed to neutralize them and metaphorically put them in a capsule, where I can see them, but they can't hurt me. Its also worth mentioning that therapy helped me, so it's worth looking into if your hesitant.
Obviously no two people are alike, but this is what helped me overcome my past. So, perhaps, maybe this could help you too. Whether this helps you or not, I truly hope that you fully recover from the past, and begin a FANTASTIC new chapter in life.
🙂I wish you well and hope this helped!

The music is often an outlet for them to help them cope with all of the feelings they're dealing with in the world and the homes they're growing up in. All of the stuff they're having to deal with on a daily basis at school and at home. A lot of problems could be helped by parents taking the time to talk and listen to their kids, and I say this as a mom of 2 boys. I don't want my kids to ever be afraid to come to me with anything. He’s a writer I totally understand his metaphors as an artist. Saying “I’m a teen distortion who survived abortion, a rebel from the waist down.” That was an amazing line. The headspace he is in to write like that is intense and real.

In his early interviews this young guy keeps cool under pressure, giving inspired smart replays, while raging group manifests its own fears and shortcomings keeps on attacking.
