- What happens when you take one of the best looking cars from the 60s/70s ever made and let the fine folks over at Alfaholics get their hands on every tiny inch of it? You wind up with this. The GTA-R.
Squeezing 240hp out of the original 4 cylinder is no small feat, but as nothing is left untouched, that's the number Alfaholics ends up with. The drivability remains somewhat tame for such a hot motor. When the hammer drops, the earth around you will rumble with the sound of its velocity stacks. I’ve never driven a car that disliked slow speeds as much as this one. It begs to be revved out, and over again at that. Being a self-proclaimed Miata fanboy, this car speaks to me in volumes. Being able to use all 240hp most of the time makes this a riot on the streets. Long straights and empty roads need not apply.
The handling is on par with your run-of-the-mill shifter cart. Tight, flat, purpose-built. The way this thing eats up corners puts it in a league of its own. In a time where most cars these days come with silly gimmicks and modes, the Alfa reminds you that absolutely none of that is necessary. The GTA-R is a handful, always eager to play, yet is probably one of the most predictable cars I've ever driven. You can literally feel the car rotate around you because it's so small.
Although not a car I could daily drive, which is completely irrelevant, it's what I base my opinions on. How well can a car be a car. Honestly, aside from the suspension that most certainly favors smooth surfaces (that can be dialed in), this is a wonderful vehicle. It's got a trunk for things, it's got air conditioning, its got a hidden sound system that works off Bluetooth, it has those wonderful vent windows in the front AND back, the seats are heavenly, it smells of leather and manliness, and makes the best sounds a 4 cylinder motor can make. It started life as an exceptional piece of Italian automotive achievement and Alfaholics gave it a bump...of the white powdery variety.

Dear Santa.....
as a little kid in Italy in the early '70s, every time I saw this car (this one, with larger tail lights) and heard its noise my heart started beating faster. Nobody had explained to me what it was; it was just tapping into my soul for no rational and no learned reason.
When I was young my father teach me how to drive a car by a Giulietta from 1982…the sound and the hearth of that old Alfa are still in me. Finally I have bought an Alfa 33 from 1991 as a second car…I have found again that spirit, the real Alfa Romeo.
Love this story my friend. Happy motoring!!
Lucky person who owns this car....just a gem 💎💎💎
Thank you for nice car and nice music. God bless you and your legendary alfa❤
The car is perfect, the sound too and the video a masterpiece.
Thanks for this short time of dream !!
All this needed was to say at the end, "This is the best car I have ever driven." Because it is.
It is pretty wonderful!
This should be what heaven feels like.... ❤❤ Timeless and so beautiful....
There's no adjectives to describes this thing......timeless, it's the first in my head comes to
when i was a boy and still today this is the car number ONE in my dreams ........so beautiful......
Legitimately a cinematic masterpiece. Well done
Sempre será uma máquina maravilhosa!❤️👍💪🙏
This car is better appreciated in the curves but nice video
100,000%, yes. This one devours curves!
It takes the curves at ease with precision.
Beautiful work. I love the variety in camera angles. Nice job.
Thanks man!
This is the essence of a sports sedan, a wonderful machine! I wouldn't hesitate to give up any modern car for an Alfa Romeo, that sound and all the Italian chic - it's a dream that's probably more difficult to fulfill than buying modern supercars! P.S. Chris Harris in "new" Top Gear" abandoned a new Ferrari Roma for an Alfa Romeo Giulia and I have no doubt that he was 100% right! I would do the same!
Beautiful car! The backdrop of the Texas plains area is gorgeous; reminds me of the area of my family's ranch on the edge of the panhandle.
Unica bellezza su questo pianeta ,
A true masterpiece of engineering and videography👌🏾 things like this truly touch me as an enthusiast
What a marvelous car. Appreciate the videography…,pretty cool!
Love the nice calm video which immerses us in the car without a lot of hype or explanation. Great!
Hoping to do another video with another Alfaholics car soon!
Very beautiful work of art ....from a true alfisti.
Thanks so much, Ian! I{'m currently getting more cars in cue to give this treatment as well as small driving impressions.
Nice to see it again, I watched it being built.
Beautiful work…..making my own and sorta getting there
Wow, what a great video one of the best on this type of Alfa.
Non comprendo per che si scrive in Inglese sopra una macchina puramente Italiana...
Grande Alfa Romeo, grande Italia.
Da un Spagnolo...
My first car. ❤ Giulia GT 1300 junior scalino 1968.
Una piccola bomba!!!
And today a Mx-5 to rediscover lost feelings.
Non perchè sono italiano, ma questa è la macchina più bella di sempre, le sue forme... sembra una bellissima donna... molto cattiva
Couldn't agree more.
I don’t know how you filmed this .
It could be out of some surreal depth of desolation and despair.
As if I had an out of body moment lost in some vast expanse of open nothingness.
Fantastico!!!! 👍👍👊👊👊🇮🇹
So special and beautiful
Awesome video!
Il tutto molto bello. Macchina fantastica!
Semplicemente fantastica complimenti 👏👏👏👍
Lovely video!
A delight to watch !
Wauw what a great video!
It's american boy with italian heart Well done .
😊 I still have and enjoy my '69 Gtj I bought in 1982
I want one so bad.....
I salute to his good taste.
Sculpture on wheels ❤
Beautiful filmography for a small channel. Keep it up and it won’t be long.
Thanks so much dude! I need to do more like this one!
Even my cellphone began to vibrate with the engine sound!
やっぱりアルファはいい音する!
Would take this over any modern car
Dream car
She also shines in the curves too 😊
Cheers to one of the most beautiful cars ever made, made even better by those wonderful lunatics at Alfaholics.
Red beauty my friend 👍
It pains me to know I will never experience one of these.
Never say never.
Alfas are gorgeous cars. Every driver needs to have driven at least one
Formidabile spettacolare yesssssss❤
F O R Z A ! 🐍
Awesome!
Beautifu car Alfaromeo❤️❤️
Beautiful Alpha and video
Why can 't manufacturers build anything this delicate ,small and useable today.Does everything have to l.ook as if it needs Mad Max behind the wheel?
I'm in agreement. The simplicity of it all is what makes it so good.
Meravigliosa 🇮🇹
Bellissimo tutto!
Lucky man.
Ferarri,Alfa ,Porsche ....are the best automobile ever made..
I enjoyed my ‘69 S1 1750 GTV for 12 years, even if asides Koni yellows all around and alloy wheels/decent tyres, it was bog standard. I replaced it with a Giulia 1300 TI, which has been modified to be like a Giulia Super with a 1600 with twin webers, and a bunch of Alfaholics suspension upgrades. One day I will get to enjoy the Giulia. The 105 Alfa is such a cool car.
Super
Vi adoro, avete dato una anima
❤❤

🤟🏻❤️🏎🍀
❤️🔥❤️🔥😍
Hermosa máquina, un sueño rodante. Lineas recras angulosas y redondeadas tmb. Is the original Alfa Nord engine??.. cilynder head testastretta msde in Germany (alfaholics)??
Saludos desde Buenos Aires Argentina !
What size wheels?
Wish Alfa would make a new one, turbo V6, rear tranny, keep the stance and the big beautiful grill, with attitude!
Look up the Totem GT. Saw one at CarWeek last year, pretty spectacular.
@@trustinthemachineThe problem with the Totem though is that they ruined the design and so no it’s a big fail.
Is this the one that recently sold on BAT?
It is.
I didn't know pornography was permitted on UA-cam.
Shhhhhhhhhh
@@trustinthemachine Gonna go get my Kleenex right now...
Actually I've got a '69 GTV French blue), just come home in it, going out again shortly.
Some of the Alfaholics GTA-R's have riveted on rear fender flairs. This one doesn't and I much prefer the purity of this look.
in three months make a right turn
Wrong roads though. Need a twisty European b road with curves and dips
Agreed!
A complete visual failure of a curb machine???
Sadly soon all gas cars will be illegal!!!
a sports car driven over a flat straight road means nothing I have owned twoGTV's this is not a useful video
Bella..bella..bella..
