I have still an Alienware 13 R2 from 2017, OLED with hundreds of hours on it playing mostly Overwatch- no burn in. People worry way, way too much about this nowadays.
It is impossible. I do not think that is true. You will notice that the accuracy of the colors has changed
Honestly i would love to start seeing AMD get their GPUs into more gaming laptops...its so rare to see one compared to nvidia.
AMD has a much smaller budget compared to Intel and NVIDIA. So they reserve most of their TSMC budget for products that make them the most amount of money which are server chips, DIY desktop chips and console chips. May be in the future when they have a bigger budget they'll take laptops more seriously. AMD's CPU division has started to take laptop market seriously.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH yeah , their CPU power efficiency is amazing. Rare to find though.
Their GPUs are not efficient at all. Nvidia gives more fps per watt. So, no company wants it, given the power is so limited for laptops
@@randy89555 Better bang for buck, though. Besides, consumers are desperate for an Nvidia laptop GPU competitor, because the company is going ham with anti-consumer practices. The 40 Series mobile GPUs are terrible compared to past gens.
@@ctrl_x1770That's seen only with desktop parts, and with the general dropoff in battery life with any GPU, I'd like to see more high performance iGPUs and more APU systems being an option instead of having dedicated GPUs that most people won't need
Hey Jarrod, just wanted to say love your reviews and can't wait until the omen transcend 14 video comes out. I've been counting days since the announcement.
It looks really good and the fans according to your reports work great. The battery looks good as well.
Finally something that makes sense for productive office work 👌
Fan with an s, aren't you being generous
The fans are too loud when charging
@@EmaryTegan again you’re being generous bro it is just one fan
Hey, how is laptop's performance while editing videos for example in Davinci Resolve?
Thanks for responce
Just got this laptop yesterday for University (5 125H version). Even watching this review on the laptop!
how is the screen wobble mate? been thinking about getting this one for university as well.
@rti4610 There is a very small amount, only really noticeable when using the touchscreen or physically moving the lid. I don't notice any wobble with heavy typing though, the build seems pretty solid. The wobble seems slightly worse in this video compared to my laptop for some reason.
Man, I'm jealous. I can't find the 125h variant in my country, it's still out of stock everywhere 😢
Is the screen 3K or FHD ? In Germany 5 125H versions come with FHD.
I read some reports, it has noisy fan, what about yours?
Hey jarrod, did newer gaming laptops Eliminate the heat issues common in gaming laptops ?
I’m thinking getting one of these, hope they do well with server games and writing programs.
YEEESSS! Can't wait for your cryborg review next
Next week!
@@JarrodsTechI have been following your channel almost everyday. Do you have any old or unused laptop just lying around that you could send me? Recently I applied for a work from home job and I really need a computer. I'm not asking for some fancy ones. If you could help me, that would be a great blessing. Thx
Which would you choose between Msi ge76 raider and lenovo slim 7i (2023) if money wasn't an option?
Lenovo slim 7i - rtx 4070.. 32gb ram... 2 tb storage... 240hz ...intel 19-13900h
Vs
Msi-- rtx 3060.. 8tb storage ... 64gb ram...360hz...intel 19-11980hz
And gaming will be a priority too
Does most of this also apply to the cheaper ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3402) ?
The base price is $2200 that’s insane Last years model with 13700h and 16 gb ram and similar screen costs $1000 now not on sale and goes on sale for $700 regularly that’s a crazy jump in price
The last gen used ancient tech, and the game has moved on. That means OEMs think this will be a big year for upgrades and a chance to make money. The new ARC Graphics is a massive update over Iris, and the new architecture means much-improved battery life for specific workflows.
I would not buy the 13th gen even though it is cheaper, as Core Ultra is much better future-proofed, including the massive neural engine upgrade.
@@andyH_Englandyou’re on drugs if you think paying a thousand more is future proof. Your better off buying the 13th Gen, keeping it three years and then buying something then with the cash you saved and what you can get from the 13th gen
can you compare to other core ultra chips, performance wise on battery mostly
Ahora puedo escucharlo en español!!
Muchas gracias, ya que está bien tener esta opción!! ❤
Me sacó de onda pensé que tenía un virus o que me habían hackeado 😅. Cómo es k de activo en automático 🤷🏻♂️
Literally just got the zenbook 14x and it's amazing looks very beautiful the screen
is the 14x and 14 different?
They should add haptic touchpad to zenbook lineup , it would complement it .
I wish you would have included the legion 5 slim 14 in the comparison charts since both Laptops are very similarly priced. ✌🏽 Great video still
Can the NVME slot take double sided storage chips?
can you review the g16 (2024) if possible
Is the integrated graphics card good enough for CAD? I’m an engineering student and will be extensively using Solidworks. With my current budget I’m between buying this 2023 version or the hp victus but I’m leaning towards this because of better cpu and portability. Any advice is appreciated.
I'm wondering the same thing
My cousin went in for Civil engineering he was using a either a Dell or hp with integrated graphics got by but idk if ull have some hiccups every now and then. Just make sure u have enough ram installed 16gb should be enough
Great review as always Sir. Almost MacBook level of BATTERY LIFE even on chiplet architecture and 1st series of IntelCoreUltra.
@@Jules-kp7rw correct. I am surprised when i saw jarrods tech MacBook Pro battery life test.
All seem to be good, but wonder why Asus placed HDMI, USB C ports on the right side??? Left side would be much preferred.
cant wait for the zenbook 14 pro its my favourite
Is there a 16" version of this? been looking at the Vivobook S 16 OLED model S5606 but i'm still unsure what to target
Would you recommend the ultra 7 or 9? The price difference is not that big but so is the performance in benchmarks. Will the efficiency/ power usage give the ultra 7 a better user experience you think?
Apparently the 9 is not much different at all over the 7.
@@JynxedKoma yeah and in this laptop especially i dont think the extra power usage will really benefit the usability
@@magnus9316 I wouldn't say so. Even if it does, it'll be barely noticeable, if at all. Just save yourself the money and go with the 7 as long as the RAM and everything else is the same specs wise.
@@JynxedKoma yes that was what I was saying as well
Is it better than XPS?
Why is the battery life chart only contain Asus laptop ?
I have last year's 14X, and it's a great laptop for sure. I can't to back to IPS anymore.
same running the evo i7 config. Been using it for college.
The screensaver solution against burn-in is kinda pointless under Windows 11 due to its buggy powersaving, which interferes with the screensaver, at least while having a mouse plugged in. With Modern Standby enabled by default (and, in my case, the only form of sleep available), unchecking "Allow this device to wake up computer" for the mouse in device manager does absolutely nothing. Hence any movement of the mouse, even from a slight trepidation of the table, will turn off the screensaver or wake the pc from sleep.
nice taste in music btw
I wish you did quick linux test to see what works out of the box.
same, I think he forgot to do a linux test this time
It’s probably not gonna be great atm, since they’re still rolling in patches for Meteor Lake out for Linux
Jarrod, can we get a review for Lenovo Legion Go please ?
cool Laptop but i was suprised that the multicore performance is what it is. Thats about what my Framework Laptop 13 with the Ryzen 5 7640u is able to do at 28W. For its 22 Threads i find that a bit underwhelming
Can get this processor in desktop.?
NPU inbuild
Not less power core .
The keypad in the mousepad has me in AWE. That is just wayyy too cool.
it is in concept but it's actually really annoying and I accidentally turned it on all the time. I just ended up turning it off

Not available in the US version :/
Thinking about getting ones of these 8840hs machines as a light and portable. It can just about replace my Ally.
Can you review the msi crosshair 16 please
Great screen, but i wouldn't risk it to just have a "burn-in" on the future, I'd pick a good ol' IPS, the brand have a good color gamut for it anyway
Hi, everyone. Does anyone know how to set the backlight keyboard light to automatically turn off after a few seconds of no use? I cannot find that setting.
Siiii!!!!! Por fin un video en español, gracias jarrod tech por tu consideración
I looked at one of these on display and now I want to hold off on buying a gaming laptop until I find one I want and can afford with an OLED panel.
Finally u got it
The fear of burn in is why I went for a mini LED laptop (Zephyrus M16) last year rather than an OLED model.
The other reason i went for that is the matt finish on the screen. My last laptop (Sony VAIO) had a reflective screen and it was super annoying. As far as I can tell, all OLED laptops have reflective screens.
Yeah they do. I guess Samsung's new laptops this year though have cut down a lot on the gloss. Although of course they cost a lot too, and not worth it IMO.
Yeah they do. I guess Samsung's new laptops this year though have cut down a lot on the gloss. Although of course they cost a lot too, and not worth it IMO.
I hope asus improve battery life on their existing lineup of laptops.. My vivobook pro 15 oled barely gets 4 hours with light use with the same size battery and oled screen.
There are some things I don't like, but i do have to give Asus credit in this; the company built its laptops this year immediately around Intel's new more efficient chips. It didn't take them a year to do that. And these Zenbooks go on sale all the time; I'm sure we'll have to wait some months due to the demand for Intel's new, more efficient chips, but for those who wait, this machine seems to be a pretty good one for light office use in a premium chassis, with an excellent display, at a pretty good price. Great video, JT.
Lenovo LOQ i7 RTX 3050
Or the
Asus TUF A15 i7 RTX 4050?
Need insight 🙏🙏🙏
you can get the loq 15 with 4050...similar priced, i think...
I didn't see or hear the price of this unit.
It's interesting that you didn't mention the screen wobbliness in your review of this laptop, especially since it was quite noticeable during the video call and typing. Perhaps sponsored content means avoiding criticism.
This is not a review. As you say, you can see it for yourself.
would be nice to see at least a couple games tested on those integrated arc gpus.
Is is suitable for AutoCAD?
I have avoided OLED laptops so far. From what I read online, screen burn ins are quite a thing on OLED laptops, especially on Linux (my primary OS) where things like pixel shifter is not yet available.
That’s cool, but if you have a time can you make a video about new 2024 ASUS TAF gaming with and 8000.
Both usb-c ports are on the right side, not gonna buy it just because of that (how am I supposed to use it with a mouse for most basic example?)
Hello, when u planning to realise zephurus g16 review? Thanks
Unfortunately we don't have one yet. Hopefully soon.
My eyebrows rose past my hairline when I saw the Cinebench graph. How is it that the 185H is being beaten by previous generation parts in the multi threaded test by over 73%? Is there some power limit that throttles the CPU to all hell when it's put under load? What's going on here?
Still waiting for LOQ 2024 i7 14th gen review, Jarrod😂
7:56 😳
1) Why aren't there any new models with IPS displays in 2024? As a graphic designer, I think that any display enhancement other than what a realistic IPS screen provides is not doing any good. For gaming of course OLED, but for designing a poster that goes into print?
2) Burn-in effect is why I do not like OLEDs. Have I missed any news where that is not current anymore?
3) What about organic material wearing off during time? It feels like OLEDs are being imposed to us because they want us to buy new laptops more often.
Somebody please change my mind, thanks!
best review ever
What about HP Spectre x360 2024, or HP Omen Transcend 2024, or Dell XPS 9640 2024, or MSI Prestige AI Evo 2024, or Lenovo Slim (Yoga) Pro 9i 2024?
Probably he will do omen transcend since it's technically a gaming laptop.
@@RidwanGosal technically you can play on any of them because these laptops have a graphics card
Nice one, thanks for the review.
Anyway, I won't upgrade until 2025 (or even 2026), so Lunar Lake (or Panther Lake) will do... and by that time (2026), Celestial (not Battlemage) will be on laptop (or Nvidia Blackwell if I want more GPU power, I suppose) ... and DP 2.0
or maybe wait and see how windows on arm does. that, plus it's still a capable machine is why I'm still on a 2018 Thinkpad.
Hello! I own ASUS ZenBook 14X OLED UX3404VA-M9015W. Aida64 shows a RAM latency of 160 ms, which is inadequately high. I am looking for the same owners to confirm or refute a factory “bug” or defect, although this does not affect the operation of the laptop at all.
Has anyone experienced a tiny electric shock on the casing particularly just below the screen when plugged in?
Hi Jeffrey, this is often caused by the device being plugged into an extension cord or outlet that is not grounded.
Does this laptop have PWM?
any idea when ultra 9 zenbook 2024 launch in india ??
hey when are you going to review the msi cyborg gaming laptop ?
Review will be out in a few days
At 03:25 you can see very notable screen wobble during typing sequence which is not a good thing at this product line.
Saludos cordiales desde Puerto Rico excelente video muy bien detallado gracias por su colaboración
had same laptop and send back because of battery only last 3-4 hours in web browsing and screen was flickering very small amount if you pay attention, sound is great, processor not that fast as should be,is quiet, screen burns the eyes
-Probably a software issue. 3-4 hours web browsing is unlikely. If you first set it up, it's most likely doing a lot of Windows updates in the background.
-Screen flickering - no.
-If the screen burns your eyes, turn down the brightness.
Have you experienced a tiny electric shock on the aluminum casing particularly on the upper part of the keyboard surface when plugged in?
Would be nice if Asus made a pro version with an RTX 4070 graphics card like they released last year.
Looking for a nice all rounder with good graphics for games.
You're gonna want to get a gaming laptop with a discrete graphics card if you want to game
Such a beautiful piece of technology. Its just unaffordable for me.
Latency cs go test?
Im going insane I want the 32 GB version so it can be more future proof (and since the RAM is soldered I won't be able to upgrade it) .... But in Europe it's still only the 16 GB version available!
And if u want to use the AI function you do need plentiful of onboard memory! 16 GB is fast becoming obsolete as standard for laptop nowadays!
@@RidwanGosalexactly my man 16 GB has been the standard since like 2018-2019... it will soon be the same as 8 GB in 2018!
That screen is hella wobbly.
I just got the UX3405M variant. It is running really hot even when fan is spinning at full speed. The upper-middle side of the keyboard surface gets a little bit too hot. I'm not sure if I have missed something to setup to get the best and optimal performance.
Anyone facing the same issue with this model?
Did you update bios?
Have you experienced a tiny electric shock on the aluminum casing particularly on the upper part of the keyboard surface when plugged in?
I think I'd rather have a mini led over OLED screen for laptops. Mini LED has better blacks than regular LED screens and almost black like OLED but get way brighter. That's key for me in a laptop that isn't for gaming. I want to use it outside and brighter screens are better than the benefits of OLED which I love. Maybe in a few years laptop sized OLED screens can get on the same level as phone screens like the Pixel 8 pro and iPhone 15 pro which get really high peak brightness. That's why I ended up getting a MacBook pro because of the mini LED screen and battery life.
Does anyone know if Jarrod sells the older laptops he has?
Sometimes. Most of the laptops we receive are review units though and they go back to the brands.
@JarrodsTech got it. If one were to try and buy one of those that you sometimes sell, where would it be shown?
Can anyone give me their opinion on Gigabyte Aorus 17X- AXF the 4080 version
What if add epgu
Does this have the normal reflections from OLED, or is it the less reflective one?
I own this one! The US version doesn’t get the numpad, though.

More videos like these please. Not everyone is after bulky and thicc gaming laptops.
But that's what the majority of his viewers care about
@@nocommentarygaming2644 That's fair. But the minority would be happy with laptop reviews of this kind. It's possible to draw in more people that care about ultrabooks and laptops like the zenbook 14. His test methodology is really good.
We prioritise gaming laptops because that is what the channel is known for. In the past, other laptops didn't get perform as well so we don't do many of them.
Points to consider:
there is an AMD 8000HS-series variant (UM3406) that I'd look at considering that Meteor-lake is a new architecture, however, there are multiple gripes I have with it:
1. Emoji shortcut on F-row - why?
2. Microsoft Copilot button (UM3406 only) - I WANT MY RCTRL BACK
3. no longer replaceable network card
Considering these points, next upgrade is definitely gonna be a Framework 13 for me, no genuinely pointless shortcuts on my F-row, no AI BS thrown at my face on the keyboard, and all the upgrade options I could possibly want
Guys PLEASE HELP.
I want to buy this years Zenbook 14.
But I dont know if I should get Intel or AMD.
Intel costs 100 bucks more but is available.
AMD is available starting from April.
Should I wait for AMD or just get the Intel?
Which CPU should be performing better and get better battery life?
The Processors are:
Intel Core Ultra 5 125H
AMD Ryzen 7 8840H
I have the same question too! I can't find any info that say AMD will be availabe starting from April, where did you see these info?
Please compare to apple M2
I was curious bout the positive title and I was correct it’s a sponsored video
what is the difference between Mini LED and OLED in laptops ?
MiniLED is just a better LCD screen.
OLED is still the best as of now.
MiniLED is good compromise if you want better than LCD but dont have the money for OLED.
Althougha oled has better image quality in the long run there is the risk of burn-in: static images leaving permanent traces on the panel.

"You can't fit everything without going bigger"
What is your $ rate for saying this phrase?
For anyone looking for a new upgradeable consumer laptop other than Framework.
This year we're lucky enough to have a new Lenovo T14 Gen 5
with consumer upgradeable RAM, SSD, WiFi, battery, LAN port and even a keyboard without having to take the whole thing apart.
Framework 13 is larger and heavier despite being 13 inch. If the upgradeability is more important to you then by all means go ahead, but all you've done is back up what I said.
For the record, although this is a sponsored video I wrote the entire script and wasn't told what to say.
I can't even find it on lenovos website? I saw something saying t14 and intel but it has a bad low res display and it costs 3000 dollars.
Jarrod please. You said you wouldn't be reviewing Framework 13 and similar AMD laptops without dedicated graphics because they were not gaming laptops. This is not a gaming laptop either! Please treat Intel and AMD equally :(
We all understand that nvidia is different because Radeon has almost no dedicated GPUs in laptops. But in CPUs and integrated graphics, there are plenty of AMD options, even more than actually Meteor Lake!
And since performance is similar, I don't see why you shouldn't review laptops like that too if you review this one... Would love to see Hawk Point or Phoenix laptops (without dedicated graphics) on this channel!!
