One thing I did with my laptop- I replaced ssd straight after purchase and installed fresh windows OS. I think it will be no match for air in terms of battery life and noise level, but overall, battery life is very satisfying. Yeah. So many laptops claim they have 10+ hrs of battery life, and yet as soon as I use such laptop, it doesn't go over 3hrs. While I am not a fan of macbook, it does last longer than any other laptop. We all know why. OS is different, doesn't spend such much resources as the windows.

Seems like you have been not looking around for latest tech on the laptops. For 10+ hours battery life on windows, head to laptops that says Intel Evo. These laptops are certified to give you 9 hours. Depending on your usage you could also get 10+ hours. But if you go for the latest Snapdragon Elite series laptops then you are getting 17+ hours easily.
Watched this video on this exact Zenbook 14 OLED with 16GB RAM. It's only been about 3 days of ownership, but it's been GREAT so far. Tried a few laptop form factors at my local Best Buy before deciding this had the display and speakers that I wanted. After that, finding out the performance of other things matched my expectations, it was a no brainer! Glad to have this video as support for my decision! Nicely done!
It's good to see Windows Laptops finally competing and beating Macbooks. I've tried Macs in the past, but I just felt I could do things faster in windows especially because of the windows management . Excellent video!
Got the Ultra 9 185h for a big fat discount and it's perfect. It's perfect for college and work but you can also play some games and for emulation perfect.
This laptop is beautiful but there is one issue with this that no reviewer is telling. The laptop gets hot quickly without any reason. On idle its cpu temperature is around 50 and above degree Celsius. I ordered it yesterday and now i am returning it. I don't know the issue is in the whole series or this particular piece that I got.
Because it comes only in H series which is the high performance processors ie high watts means high heat dissipation means fan is working constantly to cool it down
the hp spectre 2024 is more robust, it heats up less, less fan noise, 2k resolution, excellent for programmers for example, a keyboard with better layout, if you press the keyboard does not smear, ie the construction is of better quality, etc.. If you have more budget the hp is better, if you are short of budget, this version is enough for common tasks.
after years I've been waiting for a laptop can honestly (without windows prefered biases) beat the macbooks m series in price, specs, stability, stability/reliability and performance, and that's the one, Intel Ultra proccesors are been the fair rival of macbooks
there is so many versions of Zenbook's im lost... i need one for creative work, mostly photoshop. ASUS ZenBook 15 Ryzen7-7735U/32GB/AMD Radeon Graphics/Win11 OLED 120Hz. im thinking about this one? is it good choice?
I was searching for a while for a good laptop. The only one that fit all my criterias was this one.. I have the chance to have met people who had this laptop and they were extremely happy with it. No particular issues on Linux as well as Windows. KILLER laptop.
Did you buy it? I am wondering if there are problems as mentioned in comments such as notch coming off, high tempratures and fan noise. I am planning to buy it but kinda scared too...
Everything you say sounds so nice, however I have my Huawei Matebook 14 2020 and except for the batterylife my laptop is not inferior to this zenbook... also what really annoys me now, even tho I didnt knew prior to this laptop... I LOVE 3:2 screen ratio... as a software engineer its so much better to have vertical space and see more of your code, I never want to miss that ever again...
Thanks for your amazing work! I have a question. As a creator, I'm planning on having 4090 and i9 14400k, as for RAM, I want to have 128gb. should I go for 4 sticks of 32? or settle for 2 sticks of 48 (and having only 96gb)? I couldn't find 2X64 ddr5 ram of a known company. and I learned from you that for dual channel CPU like i9, I better use 2 sticks over 4 sticks.
I have the Zenbook S13 OLED and at first it was my go to laptop for traveling, but it's so good to use, that my M3 MacBook Pro is collecting dust on my desk. I'm not saying it is better, I just enjoy the Zenbook more while using than my M3 Pro.
Hey there. Man, you have me wanting to pick one of these up for traveling. If there was one thing that I wish these thin and light laptops had, it would be an LTE option. I have a ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 that has an LTE Radio option. Having the ability to post up anywhere and work has been phenomenal. But I hate the fact that it's so big and heavy. Sure, it has 4 NVME slots, 4 RAM slots, an SD card reader, etc.. but I'd "make due" with something like this if I could just open it up and work anywhere. (sure, I know I can get a hotspot, and I have one, but it's not the same as just opening the lid and getting to work). Anyway.. this looks like a very cool device. Thanks for the video. Cheers Rick
My M1 macbook air only lasted 1 year and 5 months. It just decided to stop charging a few months ago. I asked Apple Repair what the cause is and they just scratched their head and said "it happens." To my surprise the repair cost is almost $600 because the logic board needs to be replaced. Goodbye macbook, time to go back to Windows. This Asus 14 OLED is what I am actually planning to get (the silver one).
Wow this sounds like a similar situation that I experienced with my 13-inch M1 Macbook Pro. I purchased on 6-25-21 and it "bricked" on 6-28-22. Apple also said I needed a new logic board and a new Touch ID key since they were connected but they would replace that for free. Cost plus Tax was about $628 at that time. What I didn't realize until later was that I could have possibly had this done for free because I purchased the Macbook on my Mastercard World Travel Rewards card and it may have been covered under the 1-year additional replacement warranty. I never followed up with it until I read something online about the additional warranty coverage. This also soured me on Apple and I ended up purchasing last year's ASUS Zenbook 14 Oled, model Q420V. I've been a windows user since 1984 so I thought about trying an Apple M1 laptop but ironically transitioned back to windows. Good Luck !
tbh windows laptops are going the same way. If you have a problem with a Razer laptop or a Lenovo laptop out of warranty then you'll get a similarly expensive response. Considering how many Macbooks are sold compared to other brands, Apple's reliability is pretty exceptional
i heard it has a bit of a heat issue due to smaller size , is that unbearable even when doing normal working things? im not looking to game, just for office and campus work
I bought this In the UK going off your advice and the specs... Unfortunately I noticed straight away that it had an awful screen door effect which completely destroyed the quality of the screen and rendered it unusable. I returned it for another and it was exactly the same . There is no non touchscreen option
@netgarnet4337 the touch screen sensor makes the screen appear like your looking at it through a a mesh screen door. Lots of examples on Google it was horrible I switched to the vivobook pro without the touch screen and the difference was night and day.
I have a question brother! The previous version of this one, the one with intel core i9 processor and 16 gb of ram, is also touchscreen? If you know, Appreciate your help, due to that is and important aspect for me to buy it.
I will be picking one up next week: Ultra core 7, 16 GB & 1 TB gen4 ssd, for 1249€. The M3 MBA base spec costs around 1360€ here. Not even last years M2 MBA (16 GB, 512 GB ssd) is close to the asking price of the zenbook, it’s still 1800€. The value over here at Europe is a lot better with windows laptops.
Question about the track pad: in Mac I have the option to do 3 finger drag and 2 finger right click. Do I get the same (or similar) options on a windows machine?
This Asus laptop looks epic. Might purchase it myself as an uograde from my 2017 laptop. Which is a Dell Laptop its great. But the onky problem is the battery life.

Hi, I have questions about the laptop. 1. Is a Windows OS worth it? (I don't play games), I use software that is compatible for both Windows OS and MacOS. 2. Is Windows buggy? How do you remove bloatware? People say that there are lots of bloatware on Windows. 3. How is the thermals? Does it heat up easily? 4. How's the build quality? Are the hinges durable? 5. For those who are already users of the brand Asus, how's your experience? What are the issues you've faced throughout your ownership? I'm a mac user, but the prices of macs and the specs they offer are ridiculous. I need genuine guidance on navigating the Windows world. Thank you!
First of all, I bought myself this laptop, so I am not trashing on Windows haha. (If I knew how to operate Apple I would have switched though ;) 1) Idk I was always a Windows user... 2) Yes, Windows can throw a tantrum from time to time. The more power the less buggy. idk about bloatware since I have only used windows so far, (its ok) 3) I think it depends on the model 4) Apple has the best build quality out there. If somebody says otherwise they are lying. But I don't care as much about that. 5) Tbh I had an ASUS a few years ago and the build quality was bad (for about 1800$) But I still bought it;)))
I'd like to know how it performs as a music production laptop, especially in my case; Ableton Live 12/Cubase 13/Pro Tools and Kontakt Sampler & many VSTi, compared to the Macbook Air or other laptops.
How would you compare the intel ultra 155h model of this laptop vs amd 8840hs model? I like the intel model for 32 gb ram option, thunderbolt and silver finish option, but I feel like the processor must be better for battery and maybe more powerful on the amd model with more advanced node tech (less nm better), thoughts?
With so much variation of the zen book it will be easy to buy the wrong one. Oh, maybe not, the pure zen in most cases under $1000 unless you go over 16g ram and Over 512 hd. Also Amd Ryzen usually more efficient resulting in less battery drain.
Please review an intel core ultra laptop with a dedicated GPU 👍 Think it would be even more interesting. Would the battery still be just as good, how does it compare to m3 pro etc.
1. Why. Just as good? Yeah sure asus definetly not going to defy how dgpu works physically. 2. Even if you disable dpgpu it wont be as Good. Because ones with dgpu ARE meant to have higher tdp. Unless you manually adjust them with ghelper
@@amirulizzat2114 Well I'd believe an additional nvidia card would draw out more power especially during intensive tasks thus also lowering battery life. I do know the 40 series are more efficient than the 30 series but I believe the combo of core ultra + nvidia would definitely have a way worser battery life than an m3 pro, no?
@@bruh-qi7ue sorry for being rude but. If were talking about battery life then it should depends on the workload and how you configure your gpu/cpu But obviously it will lose against m3 pro in term of performance badly , and battery shouldnt be that bad But if you have dgpu enabled performance would be "superior" but battery would be the good ol 2-5hrs afaik
@@amirulizzat2114 Performance is actually quite similar in things I'm interested in, like premiere pro where encoders and decoders are the most important thing. Also both support ray tracing which is good for blender. Everything else that doesn't have to do with video I believe is more than enough for both sides.

i have a lenovo yoga with an oled screen since october 2022 that i got for school and i still dont have any burn in. I dont know if laptops are not as succeptable to burn in as dedicated monitors. But also the newer oleds have much better methods to protect against burn in.
@@khalilshew4924 Software based methods to protect screen burn in are windows only, not applicable to Linux. So for Linux users like me, those methods are practically non existent. However, if the methods you mentioned are hardware based then they may work on Linux too, especially if they can be turned on from the BIOS/UEFI boot screen. Besides, in your case the laptop is not even 2 years old. I expect my laptops to work for at least 5 years or more. My Asus ROG Strix is currently 7 years old and still going strong.
While I am waiting on the snapdragon elite chips, I think the new intel ultra chips give enough battery life to be competitive. Agreed, I haven’t come across one Windows laptop that can outlast a MacBook. I am also not a fan of MacBook.

Nicely done!
hey what kind of work do you do like college work or gaming??
It's good to see Windows Laptops finally competing and beating Macbooks. I've tried Macs in the past, but I just felt I could do things faster in windows especially because of the windows management . Excellent video!
:)
Got the Ultra 9 185h for a big fat discount and it's perfect. It's perfect for college and work but you can also play some games and for emulation perfect.
What discount ?
This laptop is beautiful but there is one issue with this that no reviewer is telling. The laptop gets hot quickly without any reason. On idle its cpu temperature is around 50 and above degree Celsius. I ordered it yesterday and now i am returning it. I don't know the issue is in the whole series or this particular piece that I got.
Because it comes only in H series which is the high performance processors ie high watts means high heat dissipation means fan is working constantly to cool it down

How's the AMD variant of this laptop and also how's this laptop compared to the HP Spectre 14 released this year?
the hp spectre 2024 is more robust, it heats up less, less fan noise, 2k resolution, excellent for programmers for example, a keyboard with better layout, if you press the keyboard does not smear, ie the construction is of better quality, etc.. If you have more budget the hp is better, if you are short of budget, this version is enough for common tasks.

I couldn't find 2X64 ddr5 ram of a known company. and I learned from you that for dual channel CPU like i9, I better use 2 sticks over 4 sticks.
go 4x32gb, just have to run them at 4800-5000 MHz maybe 5200 or 5600 if lucky :)
@@theTechNotice thank you for the answer!! and do I lose anything in terms of performance when choosing it over 2 of 48? (the suitcases analogy)
I have the Zenbook S13 OLED and at first it was my go to laptop for traveling, but it's so good to use, that my M3 MacBook Pro is collecting dust on my desk. I'm not saying it is better, I just enjoy the Zenbook more while using than my M3 Pro.
just bought one, the cheap Mediatek Lan/Blueetoth card broke down and non functional after few days used
Cheers

performance is not as good as he make it look like but it's good enough
My M1 macbook air only lasted 1 year and 5 months. It just decided to stop charging a few months ago. I asked Apple Repair what the cause is and they just scratched their head and said "it happens." To my surprise the repair cost is almost $600 because the logic board needs to be replaced. Goodbye macbook, time to go back to Windows. This Asus 14 OLED is what I am actually planning to get (the silver one).
Sad to hear...
I’d love to read your review in one year. Right after asus is telling you to pay $1300 to replace a part from a laptop that cost $1200
i heard it has a bit of a heat issue due to smaller size , is that unbearable even when doing normal working things? im not looking to game, just for office and campus work
I bought this In the UK going off your advice and the specs... Unfortunately I noticed straight away that it had an awful screen door effect which completely destroyed the quality of the screen and rendered it unusable. I returned it for another and it was exactly the same . There is no non touchscreen option
What is the screen door effect?
@netgarnet4337 the touch screen sensor makes the screen appear like your looking at it through a a mesh screen door. Lots of examples on Google it was horrible I switched to the vivobook pro without the touch screen and the difference was night and day.

Thank you!
How is your experience with mac?
First of all, I bought myself this laptop, so I am not trashing on Windows haha. (If I knew how to operate Apple I would have switched though ;)
1) Idk I was always a Windows user...
2) Yes, Windows can throw a tantrum from time to time. The more power the less buggy. idk about bloatware since I have only used windows so far, (its ok)
3) I think it depends on the model
4) Apple has the best build quality out there. If somebody says otherwise they are lying. But I don't care as much about that.
5) Tbh I had an ASUS a few years ago and the build quality was bad (for about 1800$)
But I still bought it;)))
I'd like to know how it performs as a music production laptop, especially in my case; Ableton Live 12/Cubase 13/Pro Tools and Kontakt Sampler & many VSTi, compared to the Macbook Air or other laptops.
You should try the new Hp Spectre x360, it’s even better

MSI Prestige 13 AI Evo Ultra has to be a goood buy too?
Can you make update comparasion Asus zenbook vs Apple now with M4 lineup?
How would you compare the intel ultra 155h model of this laptop vs amd 8840hs model? I like the intel model for 32 gb ram option, thunderbolt and silver finish option, but I feel like the processor must be better for battery and maybe more powerful on the amd model with more advanced node tech (less nm better), thoughts?
I couldn't tell because I haven't tried the AMD version. :)
i would just go with intel this year "intel core ultra". AMD idle power consumption is a huge doubt.

I've got the HP O11 with RTX 4070m and Ultra 9 here, working on it....
@@bruh-qi7ue sorry for being rude but. If were talking about battery life then it should depends on the workload and how you configure your gpu/cpu
But obviously it will lose against m3 pro in term of performance badly , and battery shouldnt be that bad
But if you have dgpu enabled performance would be "superior" but battery would be the good ol 2-5hrs afaik
@@amirulizzat2114 Performance is actually quite similar in things I'm interested in, like premiere pro where encoders and decoders are the most important thing.
