I bought epic rendered beef tallow, jojoba oil and lavender essential oils at Whole Foods, followed this recipe and my whipped tallow balm came out perfectly! Thank you for showing us this recipe!
I just made it following your instructions. It turned out great. And you're correct, there's a lingering aroma of tacos to it that it will not go away. But I see why it's great for skin. My only concern is that it's going to clog the shower drainpipes, because it's so thick and dense. I don't think I will apply it to all my body after shower, just sparingly to heels or hands. Thank you for sharing.
I'm curious if you have made this with anything besides beef? We live in Asia and eat primarily mutton, and I would love to learn to do this! I recently found your channel and am loving it!
I have only made it with tallow but would imagine you can make it with any rendered animal fat. Not sure about the smell but it sounds like it's worth a try 😊 ~ Anja
Such a great video. I just made cream using mango butter, a little beeswax, jojoba oil, and magnesium oil. It is very oily on w rubbed in though😕😕 I don’t want to throw it out. Would love to add in tallow. I used more of the butter and very little oil, so idk why it ends up feeling so oily. Would love thoughts please ♥️🙏🏼
So glad you like this! Depending on the quality of your ingredients and how clean your hands (or tools) are when you scoop it out, it should easily last 6 months in a dry and cool place but possibly up to 12 months 😊 ~ Anja

Hi! I plan on rendering and making some but I only want to make a small batch of balm. After rendering, if I keep in fridge or freeze, would the moisture be a factor when I pull it out to make the balm? Hope that makes sense. Thanks for the video!
Yes, IMHO oily skin is often overreactive and will calm down once you're not stripping the skin off of its own oils and acne can often be more of a hormonal/stress issue ~ Anja

I’ve been making tallow balm. This last batch is really creamy. I used a 1/4 ratio with oil. I did 28 oz of tallow I rendered, an 7 oz of oil. I remelted an added for more 4 oz of tallow. Still more creamier then whipped like it usually turns out. Im currently remelting an adding more tallow to see if it firms up more. Any suggestions?
Since these are all natural ingredients there can be variations. I would say, yes, remelt and gradually add more tallow until you get your desired consistency ~ Anja
Easy recipe than you.. I have been using tallow on my face which I bought commercially.. I want to make my now I have seen this.. Is whipped tallow better for your body, and non whipped for your face??
If you are keeping your tallow balm in an airtight container in a dry and cool spot, it will last a long time, typically between 6 to 12 months. However, ultimately it depends on the quality and purity of the ingredients you use. Also, only use clean hands or utensils to scoop it out of the jar. Yes, you can. Just make sure it's Fractioned coconut oil. It is another great choice as a base oil. It easily penetrates and moisturizes the skin. But since it only is a “fraction” of regular coconut oils, it remains liquid even at lower temperatures. 😊 ~ Anja

I work with beef cattle, we get the all fat back from our processed animals. Our tallow is yellow ( grass fed, grass finished beef will have yellower fat); no odor. I will try this. I process it,store in glass jars after double straining it. I freeze some too. The fat from around the kidneys is superior in my opinion, and it makes great French fries. I also raise pastured pigs, but the lard does have an odor with the leaf lard being the mildest ( least piggy smell). There is very little leaf lard in a pig, it’s the fat from around the kidneys. It makes great biscuits and pie crusts. I would not use lard for skin care personally. Better for baking in my opinion. We have been raising cattle, pigs, chickens and turkeys for over 38 years and using the fat from them in my cooking. My family has eaten these natural fats all along and none of us are overweight. I’m really glad to see people using natural fats again.
It depends. Easily 6 months if you use high quality ingredients, use clean hands/tools to scoop it out, and keep it in a dry, cool place but possibly up to 12 months 😊 ~ Anja
