      Thank you so much!! 🥰 I don't find it dries out my skin (my skin feels way less dry now that I've stopped all soaps from the store) however, if you are new to handmade soaps, it takes a bit for your skin to adjust to making its own oils again lol This can make you feel a bit squeaky at first. Of course if you are sensitive to an ingredient, use a different formula omitting it. 😊 Thanks again!!

To help anyone with the same mold size I thought I post the size of our loaf molds 11.25" Long x 3.25 Wide x 3.7" Tall. We 2x your recipe and it filled 1 and 1/2 mold. What a wonder, step by step tutorial. I love making soap and I will definitely be making this. I rendered my first tallow last week, but it was from trimmings and not suet, so It is a much softer tallow. Do you think it would work? I plan on rendering some suet tallow soon. I am loving a whipped body butter I just made and my skin LOVES it, even my face. Thank you for sharing❤️

    • @calmactivemom
      @calmactivemom  Місяць тому +1

      Hello! I think it should be fine as it will still saponify with the lye! You might get a slightly softer bar that wont last as long in the shower. If you are worried, a half or quarter batch to start may be good as well so you dont waste your precious hard work!!
      My friend will actually take her soap bar and quarter it to help it last longer so that is also maybe an option so it doesn't all melt away in the shower 😀
      I love love love my tallow whip/balm as well! Best moisturizer ever! Thank you so much for your comment! 🥰

    Tell viewers to keep a bottle of vinegar close so if any gets on your skin you can pour vinegar where skin was exposed to neutralize the lye

      Thank you for your comment! I will add a link to a lye safety article in the description but as per the MSDS(linked below), rinsing with cold water is the best option if you come into contact with lye. Thank you so much for your concern and comment. What to do when lye gets on your skin is a very smart thing to know ahead.

      While it can be a pain to clean them, once they are clean, they are good as new! I always soak my utensils and bowls in hot soapy water after I have wiped them down with a paper towel. (I would suggest keeping your gloves on the whole time as it can still burn you until it is cured.) Any of the lye tools go straight into my dishwasher in a part that is not easy to disturb and won't be touched. I hope this helps! Thank you for the comment 😊

    Doesn't using this as a shampoo kill your hair? The natural ph of our shin and hair is 5.5-6. The ph of lye soap is around 10. The superfat helps but it doesn't solve the issue. You should try making a shampoo bar. It's much better for your hair. Just food for thought

I'm actually working on a really crazy formula I came up with that is totally different than anything out there. It is not a soap bar or a shampoo bar but something like a hybrid. The process is really cool. I will be doing an experiment later this week. Wish me luck🫰🫰🫰

    Just FYI, there is no such thing as vanilla essential oils. I mean, there are a couple of companies out there that sell the real vanilla EO but they are $235 per ounce, so you just used fragrance oil. Secondly, every EO has a specific usage rate % that is safe for skin, so using them in skin products should be measured in % of the whole product and not in tablespoons. Telling people to use 2 tablespoons of essential oils without the rest of the safety information on them is not wise in my opinion
