    01:00: We DO need those LEDs up there!
    HDD use is very useful to:
    Know if slowness is R/W swap thrashing
    Important to know if windows is still trying to update while task manager is not openable
    Know if I'm waiting for I/O
    etc...
    battery LED is useful for:
    Confirm battery status without having to drag the mouse to see it
    Confirm charging is happening when OS is hibernating or just sleeping
    Confirming PC is charged without having to take PC out of hibernation/sleep
    etc...

    Thanks so much for the review, there are almost no that review this particular model! I decided I'll buy this laptop like 5 months ago but it's only available now where I live. Looking forward for it to arrive. I've been stuck with i7 4500U for six years and oh man how I hate that thing. It runs Windows 10 just barely and those lags are just terrible. Never again will I go with Intel. Also a tip for you, put your camera higher so people don't think you're talking down to them :D.

    liked and subbed just for the fact that your testing is AMAZING. The fact that this laptop is on par with a 3800x is AMAZING as a video editor. This was the video I was looking for to see if this was my mobile editing solution.

  • @adinwalls
    @adinwalls 4 роки тому

    Thanks for this comprehensive test. What’s your alternative laptops suggestions for video editing? This will be my main computer, I am selling my Ruben 5 desktop. I edit with davinci resolve with Blackmagic raw footage.

    • @WhatNowTech
      @WhatNowTech  4 роки тому

      I am glad you liked it! The thing is this computer is currently cheaper than 4800H laptops with RTX 2060, so I will recommend this over other 4800H-2060 computers. Davinci takes advantage of powerful GPUs, so I wouldn't go below a 2060.
      If price isn't an issue I recommend Eluktronics!

    • @adinwalls
      @adinwalls 4 роки тому

      WhatNow? Well here in South Africa they recommended an MSI Workstation with a Quadro T2000 GPU. I don’t know why tech heads always associate video editing with 3D rendering! 🤣 but yes price is an issue. And I am keeping my monitor so I will use that to do my colour grading. It would be nice to have a nice monitor on the laptop as well but it seems with windows you need to choose: power vs hardware.

    • @WhatNowTech
      @WhatNowTech  4 роки тому

      Hi! Personally I am against lowering the TDP or disabling SMT in a video, because those are all fixes to a problem that I feel like I need to show.
      That being said, while it's a good tip, I can't help but wonder if you'd just be better off getting a 4800H instead of a 4900H.

    • @spacestray
      @spacestray 4 роки тому

      @@WhatNowTech I don't know if the temps are same for 4800H and 4900H under stress, guessing it cant differ that much. One thing to note is theres a lower TDP (35W) variant 4900HS which hits 100C on the G14 gaming right out of the box

    Mine arrived today. Ryzen 9 with an RTX 2060.
    The screen is plenty bright enough for me.
    Colour palette, meh, but if that's really important to you, use the external monitor of your choice.
    I'm still getting used to the keyboard, but I like it.
    The single USB 2.0 port on the right side of the chassis is best used for a mouse, which most people using this laptop will end up using.
    The track pad is decent, but I like my mouse.
    I didn't want to break the bank to get a laptop I could do pretty much anything with.
    This laptop has its compromises, but considering the horsepower you get, and the ability to upgrade the memory and the storage when
    you need to, you really can't beat this machine for value.
    Can it run hot and have the fans spin up, yes, but note it's a GAMING laptop, not an Ultrabook.
    Is it mostly plastic, yes.
    So what?
    Go pay a lot extra, and get something with a metal body and cooler thermals, with this kind of horsepower, if you can find it.

      How is the performance of your laptop after a long time use?

    • @jbountalas
      @jbountalas 3 роки тому +1

      @@akkauntmashrab7389 Still great. I have noticed boot times seem a bit longer, but I have yet to quantify it. Performance wise, I don't see any change. It doesn't matter what I throw at it. Remember I'm gaming in 1080P, but the performance is great. At some point I'd like to look into a 3070 level GPU and a 5900 H or HX processor, but, for now, I'm happy with this machine.

    • @ItsMe_K3

      Because the new Ryzen 4000 series mobile chips are so cheap that is doesn't make sense to put a lower grade CPU, the price difference would be minimal, which would cause the lower specs notebook to be unsalable. In Europe, the ASUS TUF A15 FX506IU-AL052T, 15.6 (Ryzen 9 4900H) sells for 1300 euros while the ASUS ROG G15 (Ryzen 9 4900HS) goes for 1600 euros.

      Caio R i would agree with your comment if it weren’t for Nvidia just launching the 3000 GPUs for half the price of a 2080TI and x2 the performance, it seems at least one company WHO DOESNT HAVE A REL COMPETITOR has made the right move

    I just bought this two weeks ago. It's a beast. Probably one of the most hard-core laptops are going to find on the market. I paid $1600 canadian@bestbuy.ca. I added a 2 TB Intel M.2 SSD. This thing flies. I'm a content creator and use a lot of heavy processing apps and this thing does not get bogged down. I don't know why it is not offered in the United States but this laptop is the best of the H models. The fastest laptop on the market. So for $2000 Canadian total with the added M.2 drive and tax included it's amazing.

      What're your thoughts now, three months later? I'm in Canada as well, and I'm in the market for a laptop that's stellar for music production & video editing. Macbook busted again and I decided I won't spend $2,000+ every 3 years on a laptop.

    So pretty much a useless laptop since the performance is there only for a few minutes and throttling begins. Can't believe it's a 2020 laptop. If that's the problem with Ryzen 9 overall, not only this badly designed laptop then it's over for AMD in mobile market for now. Would be disappointing, Intel barely upgrades their mobile CPUs performance simply because they don't have to, there is no alternative at all. Other laptops, Intel-based can work for hours without throttling or barely visible one. No one will care about paying extra money for that. No one will also care about some benchmarks +5-10% for Ryzen if in games the difference is only mathematical and what for is a gaming laptop if not for games, no one will buy it for rendering or any pro applications, it'd burst into flames after minutes of full load... Imho it's a total mistake. Let's wait for what other companies will do with this CPU because this isn't even funny...
