To make this apple pie:
Find around 6 or 7 or 8 apples
Peel them
Put them in water so they don't turn brown because we're going to turn them brown later
Sliver them or grate them (I didn't test out the grating with this recipe but there are many recipes with grated apples)
Add some lime juice if they're going to be sitting around and also because lime juice on apples is the best sour candy in town
Wangjangle in 1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon
Then coat it with the apple pie gravy which you haven't made yet
Make the Apple Pie Gravy (I learned this from here natashaskitchen.com/apple-pie... )
Melt a stick of butter over medium low heat
Whiskjangle in 3 tablespoons of flour and then that simmer for 1-3 minutes
Whisk in ¼ cup of water and 1 cup of sugar
Bring to a lava bubbling then lower the heat and whisk for a couple more minutes.
Take off the heat and let it cool down for a few minutes before adding to the apples and coating them
PIE CRUST
Oh no...I accidentally deleted the instructions on how to make the perfect crust. You know what, just get a refrigerated crust from the store and use that instead. Put it in your 9" pie dish and do some fancy thing along the edges
Add in the filling
CRUMPLE TOPPING
Then make the crumble topping (which came from here with the caramel idea reelCx1NHL... )
In a bowl add
1 cup of oats
1 cup of flour
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 stick of butter
And just mix and mash until you get a crumble
Then make a pie roof with that crumble
Then bake the pie for 15 minutes on 425
Then lower to 350 for another 45 minutes
If it's getting too brown you can add tinfoil but I'm not sure you need to
Then let the pie cool for a couple hours
Then add some vanilla ice cream
Then drizzle on some caramel sauce
Then eat that pie that you now love because you can't detect any apple texture, or that you still hate because you don't like apple pie. It's okay either way I'm not even mad. - Навчання та стиль
Thank you I tried your recipe but don't like apples so I replaced them with potatoes and meat and I also put chicken stock instead of sugar and it was great thanks a lot for sharing your recipes

As a bad cook I can unironically follow the recipe better with stuff like "Cook it until it is boiling like lava"
ikr. like, how brown am I waiting for? What should it look like? What should it smell like? Get poetic, I dunno. XD
Or "cook that until it's cooked"
As a Dutch person, I can confirm a Dutch apple pie is a stroopwafel with pieces of apple on top.

i can’t believe you still make cooking videos! your the guy who got me into cooking! i remember the first time i made guacamole, and also i made peanut butter dog treats with your recipe! i haven’t stopped cooking since!

I’ve been watching YSAC since I was 12! I turn 20 next month. Seeing a video from him reminds me of simpler times and brings me so much happiness. I hope he sees your comment so he can know just how much of a staple he’s become 💗
Thank you for the detailed recipe for the pie crust. I've seen countless videos about it but the way you explained the process really helped me understand how to make it so it's perfect every single time
I love that recipe! 😂 Alternatively, blitz 8oz plain flour with 4oz butter/marg in a food processor. Slowly add an egg yolk mixed with a tablespoon of cold water till it comes together. Chill for half an hour, then roll out between 2 sheets of baking paper - simples! You can swap 1oz flour for 1oz icing sugar if you want a sweeter pastry, but it is more fragile to handle.😘👍

Just in time for Thanksgiving! As long as you celebrate Thanksgiving two days late.
I celebrate 3 days late. Is that too late?
I actually do! My mum is American but moved to the UK, so we do Thanksgiving on the weekend because we wouldn't get days off work/school on the Thursday.

@@FleurPillagerCanadian Thanksgiving predates American Thanksgiving by 43 years
Thanksgiving is for pumpkin pie. You need some pie for Christmas
The reason you want to let your apple pie (or any other fruit pies) to sit because of the pectin. As it cools, it gelatinizes, making for a more firm jello-like texture.
Some people don't like this, however, and that's okay.
Adding lemon juice not only add some tanginess to the mix, but also more pectin.
Thank you for putting into words why apple pie is terrible to me but hot apple crisp is amazing.
If you don't want to clean pie filling off the bottom of the oven after you perfectly estimate your needs, bake the pie on a cookie sheet or sheet pan lined with parchment paper. It'll catch any potential drips and make cleanup much easier.

the pie filling at the bottom of the oven is the best part. i usually eat it as a late night snack

The secret to crumble is actually cutting cold butter into small chunks mixing it in and then rubbing the chunks into the flour and oats by pinching your fingers together and rubbing your thumb back and forth over them. Your palm shouldn't come into contact with the ingredients it'll melt the butter and make the crumble more doughy. Apple crumble was the first thing I learnt to bake, my grandma taught me when I was about 5 and I've made it dozens of times since.
Wow, that's a VERY simple crust, thanks for showing us how to make crust!
Please - keep posting more videos! They are awesome. Thank you for all the smiles.
I have always had to make my own apple pies because i have to chop the apples so tiny to get an edible texture, i'm glad there are other anti-apple slice truthers out there
Have you tried using apple sauce? This seems kind of pointless because I like big pieces of apple. But I guess people like you actually exist.
The caramel gravy seems interesting
Gallades, tho, different story. The slices need to be there, else it's just a pie again. Like the difference between gratin and oven hash.
Same. But try apple butter pie if you like pumpkin pie.
Ok I literally just told my bro this morning that the reason I don’t like apple pie is because the texture. Somewhere between mushy and solid is just gross.

Like, did you think, "I'm gonna make something with apples so I can write off a vacation to NYC" or was it more like, "Hey while I'm in X location, might as well film a bunch of produce and see if I can use any of it later."
Great jokes in this one. I'm going to put a lot of faith in you and actually try this even though I hate cooked fruit.

omg the dehydrated apple trick is AMAZING! This sparks joy
I made my first apple pie for my family for thanksgiving just the other day. I used 3 each of granny smith, pink lady, and honeycrisp, and reduced the peels down in a pot with some water and mace, and strained the liquid for extra flavor. I spent all afternoon making it, and my family didn't like it because it was "too tart". I am of the opinion that it had a sweet-tart profile, and I found it very enjoyable, but I may try this recipe next.
I make ALL my apple recipes with tart apple because I love the contrast, so I'm sure I would have raved about your pie!
I find many apple pies to be too sweet, so I probably would have loved your version.
I just made some applesauce with lemon juice and no sugar. It was quite sweet enough from the apple sugars, thank you.
In the UK we have cooking apples which are so incredibly tart you can't eat them raw, they're like those toxic waste sweets kids have, and that's what we often use when we use apples in baking so I'm of the opinion that apple pie should have that delicious sweet tart taste. Your mix sounds great, pink ladies alone would be too sweet but I bet mixed with the more sour apples it was great.
@violetskies14 are those cooking apples a regular size, or are they quite small?

Always put aluminum foil at the bottom of your oven! Helps with boil overs and clean up.
I read once, several years ago, that putting foil on the bottom of the oven was not good for the heating elements.
I do like YSAC' solution of parchment paper-topped baking sheet under the pie plate. Easy cleanup.
@@fredericapanon207 I heard that too. Upon further investigations, a petroleum institute put out a warning about aluminum foil saying it was toxic. but the Study wasn't performed on human or animals. It was however propaganda against foil to promote plastics. I really can't deny how most things you hear is slander and projection.
This tip depends on your oven, aluminum reflects heat differently so you might get weird hotspots or damage your oven doing that.
It's more simple to just put your pie pan (or anything else that might spill, like lasagna) directly on top of a baking sheet.
Finally, the episode dedicated to me.

use a pastry cutter or forks (takes 10x longer) to cut the butter into the crumble mix. bake it on a cookie sheet or put the cookie sheet one rack down so you don't get sugar shellacked to the bottom of the oven.
I like using gala apples myself and i like larger chunks but i pre cook them a few minutes in the microwave before baking

We have something similar in Poland, cant remember the name but instead of slicing or cubing the apples, we grate them, ( and occasionally top it with whipped white part of egg before in the oven for a meringue like thing ) absoulutely delicious
