    When I click LEFT and RIGHT EDGES LIGHTED, the blue lights appears far from the lines, over the grass. My taxiway is 23m, but judging by the lights that appears, looks like is 40m! Any tips? Thank you again!

    Great tutorial, Thank you very much, I have a question regarding the standard scenery and objects, How can I distinguish if the scenery or the object I'm selecting is standard?, Too many objects appear in the list, How can I look for the standard ones.

    +1 Flying Theston - Another excellent one! When adding parking spots for G.A. aircraft I found a kludge that removes the small pushback cart and moron blocking our taxi path. Instead of selecting _RAMP_GA_???_ I select _RAMP_MIL_COMBAT_ and ...voila... no cursed AI moron and his wretched cart will ever appear in the game at that parking spot.
    Here's a tip for you. When choosing a runway/apron/taxiway/etc. texture/color just click the _Bitmap Preview_ box while in the Materials Editor and it will display each material's thumbnail image when you click on it so no more guessing. :)

      Hah nice little hack to get rid of the men! if there was only a way to reduce ground traffic on runways too! I'm hoping the SDK will expose more of this stuff in the future

    Congratullations for more one great tutorial! Bridges, in generally, have wrong hight, so what we do is take the correct bridge from Google Maps and do the placemment of it in substituition of the original one. This process bring a problem with the vehicle traffic because it still keep on the original hight. Please show us how to recreate the vehicle traffic over the new bridge.

      You're supposed to be able to tag textures as a road texture but I've not managed to get it working so it could be broken in the sdk

    • @LuisVargas1403
      @LuisVargas1403 4 роки тому

      @@FlyingTheston in FSX/P3D it was just simple. It was enough to create a polygon type "exclude all" over the bridge area and then create a traffic vector drawing it over the bridge path. Ok, thanks for your atention and let's wait for the new versions of the SDK.

    Great videos, the best on tube IMO. I remember being able to load the default airport and just make edits to it, is that even possible with MSFS? Scenery editor doesn't show you the poly's the default airport has defined. You use to be able to load the default airports in ADE and edit those making small changes easy.
    It's frustrating the scene editor doesn't reflect the end product. For example, I see sat data for the parking area but in game the default airport has added an asphalt texture and autogen parking. If I try an exclude poly I can remove the autogen cars but not the asphalt texture. If I add a car object to the area I get the autogen cars back and not the cars I placed. I take it I have to define an airport and use the excludes there to remove default airport autogen and ground textures. More effort than I want to do just to fix this one area. Any guidance on how to make these small changes without having to redo the entire airport would be helpful.

    • @mcguiremnc
      @mcguiremnc 4 роки тому +1

      Found the Exclude rectangle, even it wouldn't remove the autogened parking texture or the autogened lights which are randomly placed and ugly. This whole airport was blacksharked, it had bare minimums created and no buildings. There would be no default airport data to load.

    How would I add car parks? I tried the polygon and then material editor but it will only edit the texture of asphalt which is already on the ground when I want to add to it. like make a car park and a road. Would I just use taxiways and aprons to get this effect?

    I added 'Gates' along with SimObjects of planes, but when I call in on approach to plane none of the gates are available to land at. The SimObjects that are placed at the gates don't despawn so that you can park the plane. How do we fix this?

    Thanks for your great tutorials. If I may, a question.. There's an airport I want to work on, Nashville International (KBNA) that in RL has a roadway running under a runway via a tunnel, but in the game that isn't modelled and the cars just go right over the runway, it looks awful. Is there any way I can actually fix this and have the cars go under the runway like they're meant to?

    Hi, thanks for these videos! I am adding taxiway to a grass airfield based on this video. I have a problem that the taxiway path is not visible due to a neccessary texture polygon (with standard GrassGround02 texture) that is correcting outdated map image. There are in fact two closely overlapping rectangular polygons used: one is removing autogen vegetation, the other is the base map covering texture poly. The taxiway is shown correctly where the texture polygon is not covering it. Other scenery elements are put correctly on top of these polys.
    How can I bring the taxiway to front?
    My Scenery Editor object list is a bit different than the one in the video (obviously, my one is a newer version): when I added the taxiway points as per the video, it correctly added automatically the connecting taxiway path items, but unlike in the video, these items are not grouped into “TaxiwayPath” and “TaxiwayPoints” group items (see at 1 min in the video). This might not be a problem, just an unexpected difference.

    Great Stuff! I tried to use your first 2 videos to add missing PAPI lights to an airport near me, unsuccessfully :( I see how to do it when creating a new airport, but is there a way to modify an existing one? I thought i could create a new airport on top of the existing one and just add the lights but I'm not having any success.

    • @andrewhopwood500

      Yeah, this is what I'm trying to achieve, there's an existing runway that's already modelled in the sim that I'd like to add PAPIs to (because they are there in real life) as well as runway approach lights, again because they are there in real life.

    • @FlyingTheston
      @FlyingTheston  4 роки тому

      You have to designate the existing airport as an airport in the scenery editor to add airport items (even if it's already an in game airport)

    Hello from germany, thanks a lot of all these brillian tutorials. Do you have an idea how i get in all my own created sceneries from my FSX into MSFS2020? All these Sceneries have two folders: One Scenery folder which includes the bgl file, and a Texture folder include all textures. Is there a way to convert it for the MSFS2020? Regards Alex

  • @Kingnothing75

    I designed my first airport but actually used polygons to draw all the taxiway very accurately . Now I am done with the airport and was having problems because when I put in taxiway points, it draws the actual taxiway over the ones I had created. So my question is, can I put taixway points and paths on my existing taxiways but have these points just be transparent?

    Can you add a parking/spawning area even if you haven’t added taxiways or ramp areas? Such is the case with very small airports where I am editing an existing airport. I can’t seem to add a parking area as it says I need an airport.

    Another great video, I used some of your earlier videos to help me enhance the scenery at RAF Fairford which is close to where I live, I've then published it here for others to download and enjoy - flightsim.to/file/706/egva-raf-fairford-uk
    I am wanting to update the scenery further to add the PAPI lights and the runway approach lights to each end of the runway, how would I do that ?
    I'd really like to update the control tower as the auto generated one isn't at all realistic, I'm also surprised that the SDK only has one control tower, I'd have though there would be a choice of many more considering that a control tower is probably one of the most iconic and commonest type of buildings seen at any airport, airfield, aerodrome etc.

    • @FlyingTheston
      @FlyingTheston  4 роки тому

      To add airport scenery you need to designate the area as an airport (even if it is already a valid airport)

      @@FlyingTheston Thanks, I've now done this have have been able to add the missing PAPIs and approach lighting.
      However, the airfield I am modifying has overuns at both ends of the runway, after adding the runway to the precise area the runway occupies, for some reason the yellow arrowhead markings on the overrun vanish, do you know how I can add them back ?
