In theory "probably", the Quest 3 has a feature coming where it can track your keyboard by recognising your keyboard and then showing passthrough on to your keyboard So it's technically possible, but what we'd need is some access to an anchor system (like QR codes or something) where you can mark areas in the real world that you always want to show the passthrough. I don't know a way of doing it, but that would be the theory.

The chatgpt app is available on a mobile app store (like Google Play or the Apple App Store). And my hands aren't showing in VR technically, I'm using the mixed reality (passthrough camera) capabilities of the Quest 3 in conjunction with Virtual Desktop on the Quest 3 to block out a chunk of the game so I can see into the real world.

You actually don't need to train it on many airports. Someone commented saying it already knows about the layouts of many airfields because it's all public data. I tried it and I was very surprised at how much it just knew

That's very cool to know, I'll try it out and see if it works for me too, definitely better than having to try and explain everything

it works "pretty well" - I've only really used it for patterns around this airfield. I may try and see if I can use it for a local flight between 2 airfields and see if it can pretend to be two different towers, really push it to the limit

@@FlyingTheston Are any of the advanced parameters (top-P, repetition penalty, etc...) available for the voice app? With some trial and error there plus, experimenting with different system prompts it could probably perform similar to the existing commercial solutions. It would make for a great open-source project.

Yeah SayIntentions is very good, so is BeyondATC, this is just a bit of fun but also completely free

yeah technically you could, but it may not be like a perfect placement, not sure if it's overly clear in the video but everything kinda wobbles about a bit sometimes too, it's fine here because it's the whole cockpit that is in the real world, but if you tried to just cut out bits to precisely fit them into the VR world then it may look more jarring

Yeah you can definitely correct it, whenever it makes a mistake you can tell it what it should do and it remembers, but it's still probably far far from perfect though

Thanks very much, yeah ChatGPT doesn't do too badly being the tower :D I could have trained it better and you can always correct it when it makes a mistake and it remembers. I don't think it's useful for anything serious though

I'd honestly recommend SimXR rkapps.shop/products/simxr over my approach of the custom model import, it's very convoluted and SimXR looks pretty easy to use for a decent price (I don't own it, nor have I used it, but it does look pretty good)

I appreciate the suggestion, but I'd like something persistent, which SimXR doesn't seem to do. Any chance you have any links / tutorials / anything that might start me down the path of inserting an object into MSFS? To see what I'm up to search the MS Forums for "Piper Arrow Build". I bought and have tried SimXR. Unfortunately it’s unstable, hard to size, doesn’t save between sessions and the window moves whenever I lift my headset. :/ I wonder if a VERY simple object can be created to block the panel. Kinda like a sheet of magenta paper floating in front of the panel…?

hi, I had the same question and read some earlier comments below that give the answer : you have to download them separately using the developper menu of Msfs : Help/Samples/Samples Cheers !

It's just virtual desktop with their passthrough colour keying and I've added a big pink block to the cockpit, you could also use SimXR for an easier approach rkapps.shop/products/simxr

@@garysaunders1714 That's the benefit of editing the cockpit model, I can get the block the exact shape I want it. But SimXR looks pretty good, I've not tried it myself but it looks like it would do a good job

I will use my Cessna rig 8 out of 10 times I play (otherwise I'll just fly with a helicopter or an L39 and that's just for quick messing around). I definitely enjoy it more when I play with the full rig, it feels more immersive. The FoV is way better than what you see in the video because it's only recording from 1 eye and its cropped (which is why you see that black vignette around the top left), however, the FoV isn't amazing, it's decent though but it could definitely be better. Passthrough is perfectly fine to read the gauges, I can see them all with no problem (other than the small clock). I've not tried reading a paper checklist on my lap. I can read my phone just fine in passthrough through.

Thanks very much! The new photogrammetry scenery they've added to Edinburgh is so good, all the ground textures are super crisp too. I hope this is a taste of things to come with FS2024!

@@markzzzz741 I did fly over the kiwi and a few others that didn't make the 1 minute video, didn't fly as far down as the giant though. It's a good sight seeing flight though!

@@FlyingTheston yes, I used to fly out of Old Sarum so saw most of these on flights. The Marlborough white horse was nearly missed on one as it was very frosty, so nearly vanished.

@@FlyingTheston yes, the SIM has got to an amazing level of detail, making VFR navigation with a chart or connected GPS (I use Skydemon for irl and SIM use) on a secondary tablet device to practice with.
