    I really appreciate the insights and perspectives discussed on your show. In this conversation, I think something that Dale was closer to than Mike is that any race consists of a time when one driver competes against one other driver to the exclusion of other cars. It becomes very personal and limited to only one other competitor. Call it emotion, call it skill, call it being smart, call it competitive spirit or whatever, but a driver's priorities can be influenced by becoming so focussed on competing with one other driver that they get real good at concealing the way they win. Hamlin is a veteran and I like that.

      The retaliation (or what one could call natural reaction) occurred at the point in time where the assessment of the level of respect deserved CHANGED.
      So, retaliation (in that sense) occured long before the race at issue even started. During the race there was only a giving of benefits or withholding of benefits as previously determined would be appropriate, no retaliation during the race.

    I personally think the Chase & Cory situation is the same as Denny & Ross. Chase & Denny made the move to put the other driver in a bad spot. Denny's move had merit and was more blatant

    You’re both right either way it does not make a difference. It’s never worth arguing over something that’s meaningless. It’s like arguing over if something stinks, it’s an opinion. If you argue with a fool the bystanders will forget which one is the fool.

    14:30 I agree with Dale Jr. . broke a driver code BUT a driver code only means driver courtesy
    So, not retaliation, but was lack of courtesy. He had already said he would not provide courtesy (i.e.,. not cut him any breaks)
    That statement by Hamlin put Chastain on notice to DRIVE HIM CLEAN - i.e., you are going to have take what you get, not be given be given something through courtesy
    So, I agree with Mike Davis too :-0)
    That's racing.
    2 cars, 1 hole - if both go for the same hole, that's racing

    Easily the most frustrating video on this channel. Mike moved his goalposts and contradicted himself throughout the entire thing. That point about “if we change the cast” is a terrible argument because of course this isn’t retaliation between 2 random drivers. You can’t ignore the history and still argue about retaliation. Dale’s right. Easily.

    Dirty MO editor. When such a heated review on a past race among these pros to the sport, how can we the viewers remember a few seconds in a race. Please post a still pic for 2 seconds that can help us to try and remember. A link in upper right hand corner to jump to clip if anything or a link in description. Otherwise it's just a numbing argument between two respected men without understanding.

    If you watch other forms of motorsports you’ll see drivers run the other out of room on corner exit giving the driver on the outside the option of A) contact B) going off track/into the wall C) lifting
    Dennis Hamlin gave Chastain those options and Chastain didn’t lift so that way it’s just a racing incident and Dennis is off without a worry. It was clearly with malicious intent that there was no room left but it’s hard to say Hamlin wrecked Chastain on purpose

    • @randyphillips559
      @randyphillips559 Рік тому

      Again if you watched Nascar you would see drivers on the inside lifting to avoid hitting car on outside all the time especially on occasions when outside lane is faster.
