Things get intense in those cars on those tracks! Lots of athletes are like this, though. They're great people, but when competing another part of them takes over.
It's unreal how different his attitude was whenever Steve Letarte was on the pit box. The two of them meshed so well, very similar personalities, very similar humor, Steve knew what Jr wanted from the car without needing to be told over and over, etc. It's just so obvious listening to the radio that Jr and Steve were nearly always on the same page, even when they were struggling. It's no wonder Jr said he was so upset when Steve announced his retirement. He never got that back with Greg Ives.
Yeah, it’s really unfortunate Steve and him couldn’t of been paired sooner or longer. They worked so well together. Feel like the could’ve won a bit more if jr didn’t get his concussion issues.
I'd argue that was Jr's most consistent stretch of his career. Letarte retiring after their best uear together, undoubtedly hurt Jr the next few years, adding onto even more concussions, and Hendrick performance entering a dip. If Jr had better fortune, they couldn’t very well won a championship together
Probably was only dominant because he could complain about it, if you can tell what’s wrong with the car that’s already a lot better then a shitty car you don’t know what’s wrong
Yep. He was awful in the first part of that race. Dropped into the 30s shortly after taking the green flag. Goodyear made that last minute tire change that really messed them up. Thing turned into a rocket later.
16:25 "I don't look at my gages. I'm just watching out the window there. I look out the front, and sometimes I look out the back." 😂 Why do I feel like this is something that Dale Sr. would say?
That Radioactive specifically they literally had a moment of what had to be close to a dozen drivers all complaining about there being oil on the track and no caution until a few laps later. "Five laps too late NASCAR." -Jimmie Johnson
Jr is a good soul....... . even at 2:10 when he is kinda mad.... he dont insult anyone..... and he has a point like my sister lives 250 miles away...... if she isnt calling me, its been a good day . when she calls.... their is a problem and i gotta go into big bro mode and kick some ass
Also, I think that some of these clips, like 10:00-10:42 with green amp car, is when he had the concussion. I remember him saying on the podcast that he was mad at everything all the time
Not sure if it's been done yet but a Jeff Gordon radioactive would be nice, especially the end of his career when you could feel that slight animosity towards even his teammates
From his best to worst crew chiefs Tony Eury Sr Steve Letarte (5 wins including 2 tracks he never won at) Tony Eury Jr Greg Ives (3 wins but demanded Too harsh to jr during qualifying) Lance McGrew
Yeah, it will be around about that, halfway through the season you don't want to split part 1 at 15 mins and get 5 mins for the second part for example, this year's seems to be shorter and less good stuff in them.
Now I know why I couldn't hardly win a race with Kendricks because he didn't know how to tell the crew chief how to fix the car or what it was doing wrong
He was also getting second tier equipment compared to the 24 and 48, not to mention he was stuck with a shitty crew chief until Letarte came along 🤷♂️
Love this video I'm a die-hard DALE JR FAN OF 41 YEARS NOW AND RACING ISN'T FUN TO WATCH MOST OF THE TIME AND ALL THE ROAD COURSES HAVE MADE WATCHING NOT SO DARN MUCH
I think Dale Jr had the same problem Jimmy Johnson had. Once they got so big, they quit respecting their crew chief and being that aggressive makes the crew chief apprehensive to try stuff. Especially since Jr and JJ didn't know enough about the car. When he listened to the Eurys, he was successful, when JJ listened to Chad, he was successful.
Not even remotely the case. Jr knew way more about the car than Jimmie did, he just never learned how to explain it in the language the CC's use. His dad was the same way. That coupled with the several concussions and the rampant mood swings that come as a symptom of that, it was a bad combo until he got a CC who knew how to handle that in Letarte
@@tescoshortage remember when he saved the car @ kansas and even jamie mcmurray said larson prolly radioed to his guys "sorry" "i'm good" "nope" - his best radioactive moment is prolly this year coke cola 600

"Track bar, are you helping me?"
I'm in stitches
I fucking died when he said that 😂😂😂 perfect response tbf
For a man who conducts himself well in public interviews, his radio feedback is some wild stuff to listen to lol
Things get intense in those cars on those tracks! Lots of athletes are like this, though. They're great people, but when competing another part of them takes over.
yup.... he sure can cuss a bit

but i think most of us would in the same situation
@@JReaLBiz86 also not to mention its extremely hot in the cars, which effects their moods
I just love him! No matter he says.
lol go watch one of these on Kurt Busch....
Daydreaming about racing, WHILE racing, has got to be the most Earnhardt thing I have ever heard 😂
Dale Jr is a national treasure on the radio.
Side note; Junior always had some of the best looking cars. I remember him saying it was in his contract that his side skirts be painted.
He literally didn’t care about the pay, man just wanted to paint his car 😂😂😂😂
He learned from one of the best so let him cook 😂
I lost it with the "hey NASCAR, we're finally even after 15 years!"
2:40 I’m dead 😂😂😂😂😂
“I’m TRYING to [explitive] get away from her, TJ! I’m wreckin’!”
What year was that? '15? '16? or 2017?
The chemistry between Jr and Tj is hilarious 😂

Y'all always blame everyone else but the driver 😏
They should have just given him Steve right away instead of mcgrew man mcgrew was terrible
I think we were robbed of seeing Jr win a cup before he retired when Steve hung it up.He got damn close without Steve in 15
16:08 “The vibration in this car is the worst vibration that I have ever f****** had and the f****** shifter is broken again.” 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
😂
He broke more shifters than my dad used to break kickstarters on 500's. 🤣
The way he looks at the shifter and then throws it is the ultimate disappointment feeling he has
*tosses shifter aggressively* 😂
"Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug"
I liked that haha
He's complaining about what would be the dominant and winning car at 2012 Michigan is poetry
Probably was only dominant because he could complain about it, if you can tell what’s wrong with the car that’s already a lot better then a shitty car you don’t know what’s wrong

I legit came here just to find that clip 😂
Is Brett on the f-ing racetrack!?

What a rollercoaster these guys go through. Also, poor TJ lol, damed if ya do, damed if ya dont, hehe
The question to the track bar still makes me lol to this day
0:56 sounds like me the last few months 😂😂
Wow I'm watching this directly after a Kurt Busch radioactive video. It's literally like night and day hahaha
“And the f***ing shifter broke again” bro i was dying
Working with Dale must be like herding squirrels. Dude is all over the place 😂 the broken shifter was funny as hell.
I love that he tells his crew cheif what they use on the car. "Y'all use screws? Like wood screws?"
"fucking wrecking"
"we're on scuffs from qualifying"
"hell these guys are too greg! fuck"
i don't know why but i find that shit so funny 😭
“I don’t know, let me ask it. Track-bar, are you helping me”?
“WHAT THE FUCKING… SHIET-!!”

“You’ve only been doing it for 174.”

The Earnhardt comes out stroooong in this radio chatter. LOL.
Dale Jr has got to be one of the most chill drivers on Radioactive
Thats gotta be freaky having your steering wheel fall off. But yet he was so calm and just popped it back on.
How he maintained cool is unreal.
Missing hearing Dale Jr on the radio, great times
I think dale jr might be the greatest to have never won a cup championship

The remote control helicopter one is gold. HA

Tj majors and dale were the best driver/spotter duo . Work well together 😊
My favorite "is Brett out here in a fucking racecar?!"
Nice vid, a bunch I hadn’t heard. Thanks!
By far the 2 best ones are:
#1: "I don't know let me ask it. Track bar are you helping me?"
#2: "something in my organs is pissed off"
The one about flying a remote control helicopter was funny af, and it's true too.

0:19 now doesn’t that seem familiar?
I was a fan of Dale Jr since 2010.
Only thing missing was his Xfinity race from this year.
I think Dale Jr had the same problem Jimmy Johnson had. Once they got so big, they quit respecting their crew chief and being that aggressive makes the crew chief apprehensive to try stuff.
