Thank you for letting the song play in it's entirety....my favorite Rush song of all time.
How have I never realized how great Alex Lifeson's guitar solo at 9:48 is? The note selection and phrasing is impeccable!
Alex wows me in any period. He was always evolving and adding new techniques to his repertoire. He was breaking away from the blues based (pentatonic) modes in this period and exploring others - think of the solo in YYZ. He becomes the master of the whammy bar and harmonics. In the 80’s synth period, even when he didn’t do a flashy solo, his part always got the song perfectly, like 3:00 in to Red Sector A.
Said it a million times, I’ll say it again - Alex’s best and most profound solo. It’s like he’s attempting a tightrope walk between two towers 10,000 feet in the sky. And one of, if not, RUSH’s most hair raising track!
@@romanfernandez3008 great description
Alex excelled at that.
I saw someone post on another reaction channel that Alex is THE master at playing solo while playing rhythm at the same time. Having seen him live a time or 10, I agree completely :-)
The Camera Eye" is a two-part track with sections unofficially titled
"New York" and "London". Peart wrote the lyrics after taking walks in
both cities, recalling observations and the rhythms he felt during them
Great to see you so appreciative! Rush isn’t for everyone, but those who get it really bond with the music and the men. 👍🏽
We’ve definitely made our bond 🔥
@@PromLesbian Well, to each their own. I don’t feel bad for others since we each find our own pleasures. I’m sure fans of other bands and performers may feel the same way. It makes me think of tribals I’m and religion, where people may distinguish between themselves and ‘outsiders/non-believers’, though of course we Rush or music fans may not be so rigid or arrogant as some group members may be.
Geddy's Ricky tone so monstrous here!!! 🥰
Hey Pal, I'm a 59yo White Male, Former Rock Singer (80s-90s), Graphic Artist (I Drew My Avatar) and have Loved RUSH since 1977!

Thanks for the kind words , we’ll continue to grow and learn everyday , no switching up 🙏🏿
Greatness knows no boundaries!!
In 1981 when Moving Pictures came out it just reaffirmed Rush's greatest! I'm a drummer and I love how those guys build a song up until you're absolutely stunned by the superior musicianship at the end of every track. I've had the pleasure going to 3 shows and watched my idol Neil Peart live! So awesome to experience the Professor's virtuosity on the drums! Truly a beautiful thing to watch! Watch more Rush. You'll be glad you did!
This is a great highway song. Crank it and cruise!
A must!
Thanks for all the love you give to my favorite band of all time. You get it. Much love!
Someone did a great job with this video, and my last day visiting NYC a few years back, this song came into my head all on it's own, a genuine Rush gem!
i work every day walking in nyc and from time to time it always pops into my head when pacing in rhythm
It's by still kickin here on you tube.
This is one of my favorite and I think their most underrated song, or at least one that doesn’t get mentioned as much as it should.
Along with "Losing It".
A tale of two cities? The Dickens you say! Great to have a well read lyricist on your team.
Great reaction to Natural Science! Have another one for you.
Song is called Marathon. Best version is Live from A Show of Hands
Excellent reaction to an excellent song!! Love how you appreciate our guys!! Be well and God Bless.. from Texas!!
Thanks for tuning in 🙏🏿
One of my favorite songs off the Moving Pictures Album. There really is not a bad song off this album.
My first concert back in 1981!👍
I was there, Hollywood sportatorium Hollywood, FL ✌️
i would like to think neil was fascinated by all things great and small his lyrics all of them reflect such if only all of us could be like this ..thank you my friend for the reaction
My first reaction was to be as blown away as you were. This is one of their greatest songs, even 40-some-odd years later. They do a musical version of the "compare and contrast" papers we did in high school for two different cities, and they do so magnificently.
Rush a great body of work over the decades, the story, lyrics, room filling sound, atmosphere, time, unique. Quite brilliant!
One of my favorite Rush songs. Thanks for listening.
Always loved the intro.
YES 1st album: '69. ELP 1st album: '70. RUSH 1st album: 1974. Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Emerson Lake and Palmer, soooo many bands making a huge mark in rock history. RUSH was JUST behind that curve and rode that wave nicely. How many big three man bands out there? Rush. The Police. Emerson Lake and Palmer. It really is something to be able to perform this music live with three people.
For me? I'm just that few years older and the forebears lifted RUSH to greater heights. They had those years to take in everything that was already happening in the prog-rock scene. A child of the times, and a worthy one at that.
Tull as well, big influence on Ged and Rush, and on Iron Maiden. Very essential.
Excellent track. Incredible lyrical imagery.
Back in the day after high school, you might have friends over to crank up your new Rush album. Often it would be their first listening to Rush. That's what it feels like to see young people do these reaction vids - really cool! No cell phones addicted masses, no internet, no home computers, lousy TVs but we had awesome sound systems! Rush's music never really leaves your system.
Seeing Them Live was So Much fun, and an Experience. My Son and I share so many great Memories... Bonding done Right
Great upload. Your assessment of RUSH is spot on. They are simply unreal. Thanks for the react!
God, I love this song. It might be tied with Barchetta for my favorite on the album,(Which is saying something)but that only evolved over repeated listens.
God I love this song! I got the volume up to 11 watching this right now!
If only they had a part 3 about Sydney and a part 4 about Toyko in this amazing song! Next up from Rush? "Entre Nous"! It's got some seriously deep lyrics.
Checked your Rush videos to date and you've done a lot of good ones, but I have three awesome hits from the Power Windows album you must do sometime. "The Big Money", "Manhattan Project" and "Territories". When you do these I recommend the lyric versions because they are more of Niel Peart's awesome heavy lyrics, especially Manhattan Project which is about some WWII history. ✌️😎
Don't forget Marathon, which was essentially the Boy's take on the 80's power anthem/training montage song and has a great message about not burning out in life.
I'm subbed now, thanks for all these great reactions!! I was going to make a couple suggestions for songs, but after scrolling your page real quick I can see you've already taken care of them. I'm gonna get the rest of these watched in the next couple days and maybe I'll think of something really good for ya. Great reaction, thanks!!
Glad you could make it!
Neil's cymbal rides are always tasty, crisp & on point
Another outstanding reaction... may I suggest BU2B off their last album, thanks Man
BU2B is incredible. The bridge section: "...until our final breath..." is one of the most soaring pieces of music ever from Latter- Day-Rush. The lyric, as genius as it is, is heart-breaking for me though. Along with Snakes and Arrows, the atheistic bedrock of their 21st century output is very cynical. And I wasn't 'brought up to believe' either, I sought out Christianity of my own accord. Sorry, I know this is NOT the forum for such discussions. I'm just glad to see someone else who appreciates the musical greatness of this track. Now I'm waiting for someone out there who actually likes Available Light, from Presto! 32 years, and I've yet to find even a RUSH fan who likes that track, besides me! ☮️
My favorite Lifeson solo. What separates Moving Pictures from other Rush albums is the atmosphere of it. Permanent Waves and Signals were both recorded at Le Studio yet Moving Pictures has this 3D atmosphere surrounding it, it's like you can reach out and grab it. Every instrument sounds big and clean in a way no other Rush record would. It still fascinates me today. Moving Pictures was the 1st CD I owned back in 1993 and nothing sounds remotely close.
Incredible journey these guys take you through with their music no one comes close with so much talent definitely one of a kind nothing but class
I don’t remember this song but your reactions to all the Rush songs are great and this song is just tremendous keep on listening to the great groups of the 70’s
Too many times Rush puts out masterpieces. They put so much sound out of a 3 man band.
A remarkable band with a lifetime of remarkable stories. It is always a joy to watch someone like you discover them and really discover them. I hope their music can make even just a fraction of an impact upon your life as they have mine. I cannot even measure the positive impact their music has had on me over the decades. Sometimes a life saver. I like your RUSH reactions, very good stuff. Keep it up and take care!
This should be the official video for this song.
Love this song so much!! Thanks for a great selection!!!
Pretty awesome commentary and reaction.
This is easily one of their finest songs, rarely played live or on radio.
Welcome to Rush Nation! LOVE the facial expressions lol. Best experienced with good quality headphones.
Great choice...one of my favorite songs ever!
I feel the sense of possibilities.
I feel the wrench of hard realities.
Such amazing lyrics.
Also, look for the camera eye being played live, Niel was missing a tom drum, his drum tech was setting it up, while he played, pretty much the only time you saw him smile while playing
Alex really tears it up on this song
2 words. MIND BLOWING!
You’re now part of the Rush family from all parts of the world we welcome you pal.
Alex solo (puts hand over face) ha ha!
Now you know. I saw Roll the Bones or Presto, I can’t remember which one, where I had second row left of center. I even think it might have been Alex’s birthday. Anyway, I had an excellent seat and it turned out that I was directly in line with Alex’s mic stand. I mean perfectly centered. One seat to right, I would have been off. One seat to the left, I would have been off. And when standing on my seat, his beautiful blue Paul Reed Smith guitar was directly straight level across to my head level. He had to keep coming back to that point blank spot. I had seen RUSH many times up until that point but I will never forget that night.
I felt like he was personally kicking my ass. I mean perfect alinement you can’t pay for! I never forget it!
Way past the sky.
Man terrific way to put it.
So great seeing people appreciating the band, especially deep cuts like this, whether you like them or not.
Cheers!
Check out Jacobs Ladder from the Permanent Waves album
This is how reaction videos should be. No talking. Just experiencing that first time.
Very nice reaction Pope!
Love the way you listen carefully each song without pauses to comment between each Section. You just catch the flow from intro to ending, that shows big music sensivity. With this kind of talent you could be a great Musician or a Music Manager able to nail any Music genre, and I say so because Rush, as most Prog Bands, needs a particular taste, maybe more empathic to feel the real thing. Much Respect for your Job!👍
3 incredible musicians. I was at a Rush concert once, next to a guy who was there just to hear Geddy Lee's bass playing. He told me, "Oh, I don't dig their music all that much - but that Geddy Lee is bad!" ("Bad" meant something different back then...)
It’s music of, for and by the Maestros-that’s probably the closest to a Pink Floyd influenced song I think they ever achieved.🤘🖖✌️🎸🎹🥁🎤
I saw them play this song live... freaking awesome
Still Kicking's Rush videos are amazing! Highly recommend them all. Especially this, as it is my favorite Rush song.
I love the video that you are using. It is fan-made, but it captures everything that is special about the song. You have chosen… wisely.
Great reaction. No bs
No that sounds like, that reminds me, hear my music "knowledge".
Just hearing what you are listening to. Excellent 👍
Love your reactions.
The perfect song
Not to detract from your video dude but whoever put the actual music video together did a great job. You, of course, did great as well! Thx for posting. Cheers!
I’m Canadian so I’ve been blest to listen to them and catch a show but they made me want a guitar 💋❤️
You really need to check out some 80s Rush...they call it the "keyboard era" and that's a misnomer because as an old bass player myself, Geddy was at the top of his game bass wise...they all were creatively. Some "purists" just couldn't take Alex switching to single coil pick ups and the added texture of synths as well as electronic percussion...always played by them personally..a couple triggers hit by a stick or a foot switch now and then...but always more of an atribute and a challenge to themselves to pull it off in front of a live audience as well as enabling them to go with the always changing times and remain relevant for as long as they did.( and even DEFINE certain aspects of music) They were one of THE GREATEST ALL TIME..and to dismiss the 80s period ...which honestly was them at their absolute PRIME musically...is a SHAME. So I hope you will do some 80s Rush reactions...If I may offer a few suggestions that won't fall to out of the mainstream but are ALWAYS overlooked that I think you would enjoy; TURN THE PAGE, BIG MONEY, EMOTION DETECTOR, MIDDLETOWN DREAMS...earliar 80s ANALOG KID and it's counterpart song DIGITAL MAN can not be missed. BETWEEN THE WHEELS From Grace Under Pressure . Love ya ..and your rock journey...(hope your learning how to play an instrument a little bit on the side). Thanks for the reaction . you are great!
Power Windows is one of their greatest albums imo. I agree people who crap on the 80s era don't know what they are talking about.
You get it. Welcome aboard my brother!
Awesome. Love it!
Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ and Subdivisions are songs you must review: you won't be disappointed!
This video is amazing! Made by a fan.
Steve Vai should be on your radar :) and I never heard "Hello." " Good morning Gov..." in this song before. it's buried deep. Surprised you're digging this deep into a Rush album!
Like Dickens' "tale of 2 cities" - just in a class of their own
A tale of two cities.
Willowdale North York Toronto 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻...oh! And St. Catherines Ont. Lol
I wish you could count how many times I said that F-ING drummer man!!!
The greatest.
Keep in mind, that's just three guys making all that sound.
Here’s a bit of useless information for you. Somebody burps into the microphone ( probably Geddy ). Followed by a voice. It sounds like “ it’ll work out “. Meaning they can take it out in the final mix. It’s at 9.27 of this video. Love your channel bro, you’re doing great 👍🎶🎵
The true story is Geddy asked for more monitor and the engineer is heard saying "Awright Gov."
Um, I don’t think so. I think it’s simply a dialog between 2 Brits. They are in London at this point in the song. One says [British accent] ‘Hello’ and other replies’Morning guv.’ Here is some trivia, though. At the beginning of the song you hear hustle and bustle and horns beeping, and someone saying something unintelligible. They are actually saying ‘fresh fruit.’ The audio is taken from the beginning of the first Superman movie. The bird flapping noise you hear as the synth drones start is not birds flapping but a bunch of typewriters in the Daily Planet, taken from the same Superman scene.
Since you seem to dig prog, I’d highly suggest (if you haven’t already checked them out) The Mars Volta. I’d check out Son Et Lumiere/Inertiatic ESP off of Deloused at the Comatorium. It’s a good starting point for this band.
Keep it going youn man. RUSH is the best
Chills !!!!!!!!
Very well said brother 👏
rush between the wheels
As always, great to see another new fan🤘. Don't quit before you really get it Enjoy👻👽
I would check out Rush - One Little Victory (In Rio) and A Passage to Bangkok - Live in Rotterdam
The best Rush video they never made.
Cheers!
🍄🌲🍄💥✨🌈
Alex's guitar riff is repetitious, but somehow it doesn't feel repetitious.
Until the end when he goes off on an amazing solo!
Awesome
Get blown away with Witch Hunt, head phones a must
Check out an amazing live rush performance either freewill or Xanadu from the exit stage left videos
You must watch it live from the time machine tour
Next RUSH song: Witch Hunt
Yes the live version from 1984 Grace Under Pressure tour, sooo awesome.
9:50 of this video starts the music magic.
Is it weird that I think some of the instrumental sections could be at home in the Tron soundtrack?
😎😎😎
Now, watch it...from 'Time Machine' live.
Like and subscribe if you’re new? DONE ✔️ Thanks brother, you get it.✌️#ALM
About the long songs. Sometimes a dude just wanna jam. No reason.
This band was inspired and influenced by YES. YOU'RE In great company.
Hey buddy, has anybody told you that you resemble a young Seal? (The singer). One good looking dude, and i'm a straight Englishman!
I’ve gotten that comment once before 😁 Thank you ⭐️
@@POPE. It's a pleasure, my friend. There can be no doubt from now on! 👌
Next on your list needs to be Natural Science off of Permanent Waves.
ua-cam.com/video/SjQgp1ZRBqQ/v-deo.html done!
@@POPE. looking forward to it! I read (can’t recall where) that Neil said it’s the hardest drum song he ever played, due to utilizing the cymbals as much as he did.
