Darwin got the shaft in X-Men: First Class. That was some BS.
The most BS death I've ever seen
@@Fresh720 I kept expecting him to reform and comeback.
I'll never forgive them for that!
he was way to powerful like black apocopes. team never be danger he make power for the one time use. with rogue at least she had find mutants gain new powers. apocolepes movies had near mutant copy power.
I think Darwin is such a poor choice of name for a black character since Charles Darwin himself was a rampaging racist.
One thing I LOVE about these lists is hearing about Black characters I have NEVEr heard of before. Love it!
Indeed
#BIGFACTS
MAN!!!
Same man same!!!
Kevin Jones
Yep. This is why we need to focus on uplifting our own characters instead of relying of black version of white characters.
Your team is going to need a healer Christopher Muse(Triage).
Thank you for adding him. He's always overlooked smh
He had a healer on Manifold. Kind of.
I agree, he's is kinda cool, has a staff.
I actually find him cooler than Elixir.
Cecilia Reyes?
I'm rooting for everbody BLACK...no need to apologize✊🏿
Hell yeah bro!

Click on it
Dumb as fuck. You rooting for Boko Haram, dumbass?
As brazilian, I have to say: I missed my man, Sunspot!
Btw: hugs from Brazil, everyone
Yeah, it would also be great if they stopped lightening his skin tone and whitewashing him. He is dark skin Afro-Brazilian. His powers manifested while being bullied for being a dark skin Black Brazilian
@@onyx081 indeed, while he is mix due to his mother either being Latina or white (she had red hair so I'm guessing white) his father was differently afro Latino
@@onyx081 totally agree! Like, the guy in the New Mutants movie, even though being brazilian... eeehhh... :p
@@eulermoura9643 Same here! I saw the trailer, and thought, "Oh great! Not a lot of Afro-Latino characters exist, and they just took one away!" It's as if the creatives don't know that Brazil has the highest percentage of Black people outside of the African continent.
Exactly! If M is here, why isn’t Sunspot? I’m also Brazilian! X-fan, as well!
As a kid in the 90s my "all black X-Men team" was the Blood Syndicate (DC Comics), and Tribe (Image comics).
Yea they need to do more with the blood syndicate
storm has to be the first on the list. there’s no black mutant more iconic than her.😭
I can't believe someone said that there isn't an all white superhero team. Thank god we have you Blerd to give us what we need and want. Keep it black bruh. And do it your way always.
Kind of the main thing I dislike about Dawn of X. Most of these Dawn of X titles revolve entirely around white x-men members...members that we've seen as protagonists time and time again.
Characters like Bishop, Storm, Frenzy, Gentle, Trinary and Cecilia are nothing more than background characters. For the first time, the X-men have so many diverse team compositions to push forward...but they still focus on the same 7-10 plus core members across multiple titles.
The main thing I'm enjoying in dawn of x is that they fixed Kwannon after 2 decades, no more yellowface--and Apocalypse and Jubilee are getting some justice in Excalibur.
@@yedo8516 i think thats because most of the most famous and influential just happened to be white
@@hellblaze10 That doesn't justify the problem. Dawn of X is supposed to be a rehaul and paradigm shift. But it's crazy to see that many of the Xmen team compositions prior Dawn of X were far more racially and ethnically diverse than the team compositions in Dawn of X. And Dawn of X simply has a larger pool of characters to work with.
I've enjoyed Excalibur and Fallen Angels so far since they have stories that revolve around minority characters. But the rest of the titles just fall far short.
@@yedo8516 Truth be told thinking of mutants in that way is kind of silly. Some of them are blue geen furry and walking slime monsters. There racial background is no longer a factor when it comes to mutants
@@hellblaze10 good deflection.
Nothing to add pimp that's a solid list. With Storm and Bishop as leaders this group would be a problem for anybody. I also felt like reading X-Men that It felt very familiar. It did feel like it hit home.
I always felt an affinity with the X-Men comics, because in many ways they represent us(black people). We are hated and shunned by a society, that would rather us to continue being the bottom caste than have us equal.
@@timothymoore6341 Hell, even dark skinned Indians tend to feel superior to Blacks and don't want to share any affinity with us. Even tho they are on the bottom rung in their society in India.
The basis for professor x and magneto was MLK and Malcolm X, respectively. Fighting for the same goal through different methods. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby are the real MVPs for that.
@@RationalMinded Agreed.
I started cracking up with the "weeb" arrow on Psylocke. 🤣
What does it mean
Probably a reference to how psylock got bodyswapped with an asian woman
Stan Lee himself said it's based on the Civil Rights Movement and Black Power Movement
he sure did
Yet marvel been making them mostly white and pushing any kind of PoC character to the sidelines unless they're storm
Not really stan lee said he wanted the x-men to resonate with anyone feels opressed like black people, Jewish people with characters like magneto etc not just black people but i hear what you saying
@@psycho9815 I love how your just trying to ignore that it literally was inspired by the black power movement and magneto and professor X are both inspired by Malcom X and Dr King. It is supposed to represent people oppressed all people. But it was inspired and represented the black American struggle at the time for civil Wrights. Don't try to act like it wasn't created because of black people. But yes it is supposed to represent oppressed people.
@@Aries_5916 no it was not...it wasn't until after the dark pheonix storyline that those parallels were made with magneto using the phrase by any means necessary otherwise originally they were just superheroes and magneto was just a straight up bad guy no similarities between him and the civil rights movement whatsoever
BLERD.....You are 100% Correct. This time is very creative. I like it.
I remember reading an article, while researching for my senior thesis, that talk about by NOT making the X-Men/ mutants or Vulcans and Elves people of color it allows white audiences to miss the point of the analogy. They don't use the insights they gained watching mutants be abused to inform their empathy when those same abuses are happening to people of color. Also, begs the question why can't white readers connect with an all black X-Men team the way black readers connected with the first X-Men, Avengers, FF, etc teams?
Well that article was written by a moron apparently since no one has ever missed the X-Men being a stand-in for racial relations in the U.S. And the reason why "white readers can't connect with an all black X-Men team" is likely, more oft than not, the politicized reasoning behind such a team. -and of course the sect that are just plain out racist, obviously- Yeah, I know, ironic considering who the X-Men are and what they were written initially for but if the current political climate was different I could see the distaste not existing for the most part. Take Eric July's Isom currently, it's doing very well, heavily hyped, and vehemently backed. Characters are black, can bet most of the readers are white.
TL;DR Most people don't give a fuck about corporate "wokeness" and will tear that shit down immediately, that's why.
Manifold is NOT from Wakanda....he is an Aborigine but yes, he is still black.
Facts
@@kraiden3 sorry you're wrong they are black. it's almost before around the world that are dark complected not all rules white rules you can look it up.
2:37
@@alexsupra79as nope. genetically speaking, they aren't. when someone is talking about a black person, they mean someone of african descent. aboringal people are not black. that's like saying asians and europeans are the same race because they both have lighter skin.
@@ssjraikage7874 you're wrong again they made the journey from Africa to Australia that is a known fact man wake up. And besides all life was created in Africa. And when Britain first went to Australia to conquer it they called the Aborigines blacks.
Hey Earnie, you and DopeSpill should do a collaboration video.
YESSSSSSS!
My team would be:
Bishop (team leader)
Storm
Synch
M
Prodigy
Sunspot
Also, X-Men, in the first incarnation, were all white. Given the time they came out, that's fine. But why is it a problem for all Black teams to exist? As if we don't have issues unique to us? Anyway, that's my list. And yeah, I've always hated how they did Synch.
Sunspot ain't black
@@Bernie4 He's Afro Brazilian. If that's been changed, let me know. If you can have Aborigines, he makes the cut.
@@Bernie4 What is he then? Blue?😂
Nice! Even throw in Cecelia Reyes, Moonstar, Magma & Feral!
Question we Black people know that Monet is black but has she ever referred to herself as such in the comics. You wouldn’t believe how many white X-men fans try to argue that she isn’t.
Im white, and wasnt once offended bruh. People need to get over this color thing, seriously. And honestly, i loved the prof x and magneto comparison to dr king and malcolm x. I had never thought of that until you started to make the comparison and caught on super quick. Keep doing yo thang Blerd!
Tbh Stan Lee and Jack kirby based off Malcom X a d MLK
@@painlord2k They didn't base X-Men off that. They based it off of the Civil Rights struggle of black Americans, not Jews. Malcolm X and MLK were the inspiration of the X-Men comics during that pivotal time in America. You're not even American, so how would know? You know very little about American history, let alone black history.
I love history, but even having studied alot of it, the civil rights movement was too current when I was studying history. But I know enough to be able to draw between the lines as far as the xmen being a political satire for the movement, I just never had anyone make that dr king malcolm x connection for me before. That was a nice ah-ha moment.
timothy moore that was completely retrofitted. They absolutely categorically did not base Xmen off of Malcolm and MLK, it's been said so many times. Stop
King Dynamite just like much of history, it gets rewritten to serve the purpose of certain groups.
I love that you're doing things like this because I'm learning so much more about black comic book characters. Me being a X-Men fan I never knew there were so many black mutants because you rarely see them or they're put in the background. I think you should do black cosmic characters next or a all black cenimatic universe.
I have been writing my own characters and one of them,is a cosmic character.
It’s because of the cinematic universe in the comics of X-men black characters have been around and Storm was one of the leaders and many believe she was the best leader of the X-men but I feel like in the 90’s and beyond they started to have more than one black member on the team such as adding bishop to the team. I always loved that the characters were from different nations or cites because I feel like X-men relates to people who feel different or like a minority in some way. It would be very easy to create an all black X-men team and still have enough black mutants to include in different teams.
X:MEN God Loves, Man Kills was the first comic I ever read and I was hooked on the mutants especially Storm. I was frustrated enough that she was the only black mutant for a long time, that I started writing Marvel(yup, snail mail) asking them to give a brother some mutant love. Because YES, the mutants were US. Enter Bishop, 3 years after my first letter. Sadly, I stopped collecting not too long after his debut and the Infinity Gauntlet conclusion. Life happens. My 22 year old self could not have imagined and would not have believed a world where Luke Cage broke Netflix, Black Panther broke the box office and Miles Morales would be the subject of the best Spider-Man adaptation. Thank you SO much for introducing me to these mutants. I only knew Storm, Bishop and Darwin coming in. And on my 50th birthday too!! Great job! 👊🏿
I would love to see Storm verbally putting Monet in check. They would have a Cyclops/Wolverine relationship.
This. ☝🏿
I can all ready hear in my head Monet bitching about a mission being a waste of her time, lol.
Storm has always been one of my favorites. She presents herself well, is powerful, and is a leader. She is a very important leader and they have given her credit, but the way they talk about Cyclops as a leader. She stays true to her nature. She is compassionate and wants everyone to be okay. Cyclops is a good leader and I guess because he will do anything to get what he wants done, he is liked more. Storm and Kitty are amazing leaders to me. Jean is too. I believe these 3 ladies could kill most, if not all of the X-Men. Anyway, Doom has tried to get storm, a universal conqueror wanted Storm, and she is still called goddess by a good number. Storm I believe is more humble and speaks when she needs to. She does what she wants, but is very devoted. I believe Storm can do anything. 🤷🏽♂️. I just love her though.
Storm has been down played in movies and cartoons for decades, her ability goes beyond just controlling weather, most of her power is down played and even when she do called upon a storm they down play that and limit it to a control whirlwind and lighting, and maybe a cheap snow storm,,yet wolverine and jean grey , gets full range in power on screen,,hell even cyclopes doesn't get to use his power to his full ability
@@gentleblkthug I agree. I hope when they bring storm to MCU they do her justice.
I love this lineup. Time for those underappreciated characters to step out and shine bright like a diamond.
I love Frenzy. She is easily one of my all-time favorite Xmen characters. I tend to find a lot more value in characters who have narratives focused on redemption. After Age of X, Frenzy had really rich characterization, and it was easy to buy her desire to stand among other heroes. This redemption story, however, was cut dramatically short. She just becomes a background character after Avengers vs X-men.
Another Frenzy lover, you're my new favorite person!
LOVE THIS LIST!!! 😍✊🏼 My black ass hearts feels full 🥺🖤 Nothing more to say besides, PLEASE DO MORE ALL BLACK TEAM UP VIDS!!! 😍😍😍
I'm missing Prodigy and Triage. They did Prodigy wrong, just like Synch..just in a different way.
Oh when, Wanada snatches his powers? He can always get em back if he wants. he just had to die first in a fight.
@@TheChriscount I think he already has them back. He's in the new X-Factor book. Even though, when the Stepfords granted him access to all the knowledge and skills he had acquired to that point, he basically could take almost anyone you throw into the crucible with him.
@@alonzopierce4718 That's right he is in that book. i forgot.
@@alonzopierce4718 But is he a mutant again is the question.
Real comic nerds know that Stan lee said “ the idea of X-men our bast off the civil rights movement” Only reason why the X-Men was not portrayed more of being black was the time that the X-men was created in Stan lee did not want to cause a war with This coming in for you to have this black channel talking about comics and talking about the X-men it’s very important that you acknowledge this talk about it because everybody wants to be blind of the fact.
Very True Indeed.. I read that long time ago. It's amazing how the black struggle is told in so many different types of media yet most knew nothing about it.. I'll always respect Stan because he saw it, he knew the struggle was there, that is was real.. hence.. the creation of the X-MEN... mic....... drop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Imagine if Aya, Synch, Triage, Darwin and Manifold were the children of Storm. I would have died with happiness.
Jean has all these overpowered omega level children, it's time for Storm to give her overpowered family.
I don't understand why people complain about people making an all Black team when I could name SEVERAL all white teams!
Exactly hell I want them to name several black teams
You can have an all black school, football, basketball team, university, singing group, restaurant, business and country; but when it comes to superheroes it's just couldn't be realistic🤷🏾
@@williamphillips3035 true words have never been spoken
It's mostly because the selling point is that there black. Those white teams just happened to be white there selling wasn't that they were white.
@@hellblaze10 you know I wanted to make the same comment but, looking at the things we had back in the day such as Static, and the Boondocks. But unfortunately they never made it that far and they were very popular at that time, do I don't think its because its a race thing or at the very least not much about it. But seeing as the very well popular white heroes have the best comic book writers behind them says what they mainly focus on
it just makes sense for races of people to hang out together because they may have come from similar backgrounds. When you are raised in an area where everyone is the same race, you would naturally gravitate to hang out with your own race. So as a white guy, I'm not offended by an all black X-Men team. I'd even read it as long as their lingo didn't get to weird. They should still talk like themselves.
Woot ! Love Frenzy on this list. Glad they still use her, and not dump her like the other members of her team.
wow that one girl is a cut and paste of Celcius from Doom Patrol.
I thought you had M leading, missed that somehow.
My favorite generation of XMen is the one led by Storm after Cyke quit. She has the chops and would be a great lleader.
I would LOVE for Monet and Synch to revisit their budding romance from the OG Generation X days
Solid squad; I'd also add Dr Reyes and Sunspot on the squad as well.
I wasn't sure if Monet still had her original power set of basically being perfect after all the changes to her. Hell, the way they draw her a lot of times I wasn't even sure she was still black.
i would do the same list but switch storm and bishop so storm can also support her wankandan family
That is a very gd point. She has far more responsibility as a member of the X men but also the Queen/Goddess of Wakanda although she outwardly said that she would not marry Black panther again until she felt secure. But it's been well established that the people of Wakanda still see her as their Queen
@@tmd-w1552 the writers don't want her to change or at the very least not leave the avengers, like I don't get why tho. They can have her do both
Solid as always Bruh! Stay On The Grind!
Just found this channel and this was my first video! Thank you for this! You have a new subbie ✊🏾🖤

Darwin
Monet
Storm
Bishop
Also... nice list!
If he is still in the current continuity Sunspot would also be a good addition to the team.
@@painlord2k Brazil has the third largest black population on planet earth. As for blackspot was originally Afro Brazilian (most are) with brown skin and Afro features. In more recent runs they have made him more European like in terms of features ( which they often do to black characters). Synch and Darwin my all time favorite mutants. I cant wait to see what happens when they leave the vault.
Love your energy Bro, I wasn’t aware of at least a third of those characters so thanks for bringing them to my attention, I need to go back and definitely check some of them out. Great show,man...wish it was longer! Peace. Wayne. London
Love it!!!! Thanks for doing this video.
My team would consist of
Storm( Leader) Need I say more?
Bishop(Ranged) He is your damage dealer from afar.
Frenzy(Scrapper) She is your Wolverine, Berserk close ranged fighter
Prodigy(Brains) Your know it all capable of absorbing the knowledge and skills of those around him to provide technical support
Gentle(Muscle) He is your Colossus, a Gentle Giant capable of being your tank and also your heavy lifter.
Eden Fesi(Teleporter) He is your Nightcrawler x 10 Gets the team where they need to be and out of danger.
Shola Inkosi(Telepath/Tk) He is your Jean Grey, Psylocke type but more combative.
Tempo(Speedster) Your Quicksilver capable of scouting the area fast.
Triage(Healer) Because it would be stupid not to bring a healer along when you have one.
I tried to make my team as diverse in terms of powers. I also wanted my characters to have certain amount of cohesion in terms of relationships or former teammates. Something that connects them personally. Storm+Bishop,(X-men) Prodigy+Gentle+Triage(New Xmen), Frenzy+Tempo(Acolytes), Frenzy+Shola(Genoshan), Bishop+Eden(Gateway). My Premise would be that this would be a Wakandan based team. Dealing with things on that side of the world but not exclusively.
Since we are on the topic who would your Asian team be?
I have forgotten all about Shola, he would be an excellent addition to the team. I've seen him use his telekinesis in ways that Jean never thought of.
And he doesn't pass out...
Hey you are the man keep up the good work and when you are going to do an all black image comics superhero team

I'd read X-Men Black.
ExTriv X-men black is an actual series of one shots that featured some pretty awesome characters, none of which were black though. I think they did juggernaut, magneto, mystique, mojo, and Emma Frost. The stories were lukewarm but the covers were 🔥
Anyways... I would too.
This is interesting for a concept or topic discussion. The X-Men were born of the 60s politics, but have very little Black American characters. Think about it, Storm is from a fictional race of Africans and Bishop is actually from Australian Aboriginal descent. Also, Monet is from the Caribbean islands. There aren't that many Black American X--Men, and it's been that way for a while.
Also: first
Interesting observation. You're right. The majority of the black mutants
aren't Black American. I was pissed when Synch died. I remember a white guy call Mimic came on the scene. He had the same powers as Synch.

I am about to rant and it's not about your list but the ppl who think its racist to have an all black team, in all of fiction there has been a few black ppl in the team, mainly two at best. If you ask me that pretty racist in of itself, its like the creators want to say let's just add in a few black ppl so they don't think we're racist or don't like black ppl. Not saying they are I bet majority of the writers have that one or two black friends/coworkers. But it ticks me off when they do that, prime example the new avenger leader is black panther yet like you mention is second Fiddle to the existing white leaders. Like why make him the leader when you still have the likes of Ironman and captain America saving the day especially when Black Panther beaten them in the past in both brains and brawns, don't disrespect ny favorite avenger like that put some respect on his name its just like Monica all over again. Sorry I had to get that out
I'm not trying to be "that guy" or looking for beef, because I understood what you meant, but for future reference the term is "brains and brawn".

Dude!
You've been on fire lately, I love it!
Love this fam keep it up
First of all, you can't be racist but only prejudice. second of all, it is not in any way Prejudice because you are making an all black X-men team. How come when we point out real issues then is considered quote on quote racist which is a deflecting tactic. It'll be more realistic if you just said you don't want to see black characters. People need to stop with this nonsense. If YOU aren't racist, you should and would understand what he's saying. Those that handle situations like this is a childish individual and need to grow up. Besides, they are just fictional characters... Fictional characterrrsss (in my ben alfleck voice) #stopthemindcontrol #berealorgohome
Exactly! We always get accused by the dominant society of being racist when we speak up or voice our concerns. They don't know the difference between prejudice and racism. Black people can be prejudiced, but never racist. We haven't oppressed, lynched, or mass incarcerated anyone, nor enslaved other races of people. And besides, white people don't get to tell us how to feel about racism as they don't experience it. :)
What person actually said there aren't any all white teams? That is a whole lie. Justice league and xmen were all white until character of color were brought in after.
And I thought gambit was mixed or something, learn something new
Great stuff bro!! I love this!! I didn’t know we had this many black characters!! I only knew storm and bishop! Thank you!
Yo, this list is LIT 🔥! The only thing is I would add Triage. This video was everything. Thank you for this video and keep up the great work dude!
Guess we'll make a all Hispanic, Asian, and Indian team too and celebrate those. If having an all black team is about making a statement about race and trying to make it out that blacks are undermined and unappreciated then it's put together for a useless purpose and goes against the goal Stan helped make X-Men to be. If the team however was put together as an outreach for black to be leading example of love and humility helping other blacks who live out lives of dispassion and self loathing to have self respect and love(true love) for their fellow man no matter the race then there would be value in that. There are a lot of lessions in responsibility, self respect, respect for others, and the pursuit of going for what you want out of life that unfortunately have not been taught to the younger generation of blacks due to lackness and irresponsiblilty on our part that an all black team could help guide on if done right.
Nah man, haven’t you heard? The only thing that matters is White and Black. -_-
(So many layers of sarcasm lol)
I personally Hispanic/Spanish/Latin, Asian/Middle Eastern & Native characters get much less attention then black and white characters.

They were just as powerful if not more than their teammates. Also, you didn't touch on this but synch was also able to know how the persons powers worked fully without the need of training. Now if that is not impressive, I don't know what is.
I’m definitely subscribing!! I’m rooting for everybody black!! Great Great watch! Even from the opening statements about the connection we have to Xmen! The prejudice and discrimination they dealt with has always resonated! Thank you for this black content!!
i agree with you because i definitely identified with X-men more than any other comic because of their struggle.
I'd like to thank you for bringing these characters to my attention. I've known about Storm and Bishop for a while, as I watched them in the 90s X-Men cartoon. I only recognize Darwin because of how he died in X-Men First Class (still side-eyeing that). The others are new to me, and I appreciate you giving them a much-deserved spotlight.
Love this list and would really enjoy hearing what you would want to do with this team if you were in charge of a run of it.
I love videos like this. Definitely needed. My Team would be similar, I like Gentle, and I would add Prodigy as the Guy in the Chair.
Storm (Leader)
Bishop (Field leader)
Darwin (Swiss army knife)
Gentle (powerhouse)
Prodigy (brains)
Cecilia Reyes (healer)
Blink (teleporter)
I love the squad you put together !! This needs to be a 4 book intro !!
We had some of the same characters.
Storm
Darwin
Monica Rambeau(The Jean)
Bishop
Blue Marvel(The Cyclops)
Blade(the Wolverine)
Shuri(The Hank)
Those were my pics.
I appreciate that you didn't only pick the obvious choices (Storm, Bishop, Sync) and shed some light on lesser used/known characters. Great team!
Awesome 👌 video bruh. Keep em coming peace.
Great breakdown before going into your list. Well said
Good looking out my man ✊🏿
I just found your channel a couple weeks ago & I love it. I love it even more now, cuz you just included Frenzy!! Bomb character that is underused. Also, hear me out y'all, what if the next X-Men movie had Storm, at what her age would be now, played by Angela Bassett? Storm is Beyond Omega level, she held back the SEA! She's also a goddess, down through her mother's line. I hate the way they write for her most of the time like she's some side character. Blerd, keep up the good work.
I want this team so bad. As an old school Gen X fan, I love the long awaited M and Synch reunion (even though they weren't exactly best friends, haha).
Of all the super hero teams, there really needs to be an all Black X-Men. It really needs a Black writer too, to be honest. It's been used as a metaphor for so long that it's pretty shocking that they haven't let more Black folks helm it.
I like it!!! Better had saved Storm for best/last. Lol. Nice job with the team!
Thank you so much for this.... knew a lot of people but still learned, I didnt know Manifold was a character and now im super interested
Can’t for the life of me figure out why this man doesn’t have way more subs his content is top notch seriously
This is an incredible list, you really introduced me to some new characters, I wanna read comics with these characters in it. Hopefully, Marvel can use some of these characters in the the MCU whether its in X-Men or in other movies. Thank you for this!
Blerd, you're FIRE!!! People, watch this man do his thing! Huge fan my man!
I love this list! Mine would be:
1. Storm
2. Oya
3. Cipher
4. Triage
5. Manifold
6. Bedlam
7. Monet
Jesse Bedlam is a dope choice. He is a scalpel, as opposed to the hammer, which is his brother King Bedlam.
Nice , well thought out 👍🏾✊🏾✌🏾
