I'm conflicted.... It's great to have something like this, but sucks that something like this can't just be another normal day for the world...
Its because cause real life people are a lot harder to convince and way more stubbern.

I'm conflicted as well. I mean, I like it, but I'm of the party of expanding upon something original or, in other words, something new. We need more black comic creators like Dwayne McDuffie or the guys from Milestone comics or The Rippaverse. We need a new medium of black characters. But I'm not mad at alternative Earth's and realities, which I'm open to a black X-Men team.
@@KIDSOUL777 well there is a problem in that too. There are a great deal of new comics featuring POC. But they are from small companies, or independent amateur creators.
When the big companies do introduce new POC on comics they don’t get traction. In fact they are often seen as woke garbage, cringe, or pushing an agenda.
When Stan Lee created the X-Men, he used it to mirror the Civil Rights movement in America. Professor X was Martin and Magneto was "by any means" Malcolm.
You are so right. Marvel needs to pay their families.
You do know that when Stan Lee created Magneto he was just a villain of the week, right?
It was Chris Claremont that redefined the X-Men, what they fought for, Magneto's backstory, and a lot more; even he said that Professor X and Magneto were NOT based on Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X, but instead on the Jewish leaders David Ben-Gurion and Menachem Begin.
I love Earth-63 and I really hope they follow up with this universe.

I always thought to myself as i got older that the X-Mens struggle made them seem more african American to me. The discrimination of them being different even cyclops the well educated, upstanding black man who came left the hood, being called corny etc and wolverine being that guote on qoute street dude along those lines. Xavier and magneto having that martin luther, Malcolm x dynamic about them. 🤷🏽♂️
A bit of Americanitis here.
Claremont modeled them after Ben-Gurion (Xavier) and Begin (Magneto).
A bit of history: So, the goal was to create a Jewish homeland in Palestine. They bought the land from Ottoman absentee landlords at above-market prices. (And that's where one infamous conflict has its genesis.) Basically Ben-Gurion used diplomacy to get the world to recognize Israel. Begin's group Irgun, by contrast, fought the British during the 40s, and the British enlisted the Arabs (who were still miffed that they now lived on land owned by Jews, rather than land owned by Turks, yes, the Arab-Israeli conflict is That Petty) to fight back. The British played the usual game of divide and rule, but in 1948, the Jews declared their independence, and abolished the Latinate name Palestine for the modern name Israel.
Note that Begin still brokered a peace treaty with Egypt decades later when he was Prime Minister. So, it's not like Begin was all that gung ho for war.
This shows up throughout the history of the X-Men. Why so much of Xavier and Magneto's story so prominently features Israel. Why Xavier's son (with the usual disclaimers about Charles Xavier as a parent) was in an Israeli mental institution. And so on.
Firstly I'm not American and secondly Malcolm x and Martin Luther king can easily be the influence for Xavier and magneto more so than gurlon and begin.
@@steviejay868 Sorry for the assumption, but there are differences. Malcolm never killed anyone (whereas Begin, like Magneto, killed a lot of people), and MLK wasn't as passive as people think.

Sorry to hear about that blowback on the all-black X-Men; I think it's a fun idea, and while I thought the execution here was less than stellar would love to see it played with more. So many exciting and cool mutants are black, and there's no reason that should be a controversial view.
Blowback is mostly because of the whole 'power of being black making everything better' schtick. Comes off a bit too much like someone writing for their own personal fantasy than what made X-Men great.

@@csx6910 I don't feel like that was the issue in the video he made though. It was just a thought exercise about if you were going to make a theoretical team of X-Men where everyone was black who would be in it? Anything else feels liking trying to make a problem where there isn't one.

So it's a problem when it's a black team? There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, diversity is always the best but we r all biased and we base things on how we see and feel..
@@afro_princess1671 I just meant there was some weird stuff in War College #3 about how being a mutant works that how I read it had weird baggage, that's all. I still liked the concept, I just think there's a better way to execute it. I'm also not a fan of Bishop's writing in this run, but that's a little unrelated and it's better than something like Messiah Complex and all that followed that.
They don't have the stress of other people so everything is better

How??? How does this reflect real life? Unless you are gong to an HBCU, which I have no problem with, this is not real life. In real life you have are around people of different cultures, customs, different colors, different races. Not everything can be about skin color.

@@Shng275 Actually I have been to an HBCU sir. My aunt was a faculty member of one and I spent my summers there. I understand full well the history and need, even today for HBCU's. I also enrolled an open university where I was exposed to not only black culture, but Hispanic culture, Asian culture, Caucasian culture etc. Interacting with different people can expand your viewpoints and outlook on life as opposed to just being one ethnic group all the time. That is what the essence of the X-Men is about. And yes, race does play a huge factor in all aspects of life in this country but it only matters IF you let it. MERITOCRACY, working hard and believing in yourself can lead you to success. Remember what MLK said in his speech. "Judge me not by the color of my skin but by the content of my CHARACTER." Don't assume you know me or my experience by a comment I post. You know what they say when you assume, right? Take care.

Tip: Your sound bites cut in late, clip them a little shorter. So the sound plays quicker. That little pause is awkward ( unnecessary) you can clip it similar to how you do your voice.
Tip2: The inserted clips volume comes in WAY to high. Balance them out so it’s makes a smooth transition back to your original video.
While I don’t edit for UA-cam I used to work with ESPN content and I still create for city.

These are the screwed up times we are living in. This whole comic is racist AF.
Imagine going to nearly any anime universe, changing all the characters to white. Not just in skin color (which many already are) but in clothes, culture, mannerisms etc.
And then sitting back and going. "Wow that was such an awesome change. I really want to see more of that! It was a really fun idea!"
You need your heads checked if you've been brainwashed to believe can only do something (feel "represented") if you see your own skin color/culture do it.

Wow. Imagine not wanting to include a race so much that instead of creating and building more characters of that race…they just “dip in chocolate / copy and paste “. Just wow.
Well, it might surprise you to realize that the X-Men were always 'black' in a manner of speaking. What else is an entire minority race of people lead by an advocate for peace and equality, and a rival willing to use violence to achieve that, in the fight against their oppression at the hands of the bigoted majority race in government in the 1960s US? This isn't some "dipped in chocolate/copy and paste" nonsense readers like you are always yelling about, this is how it would've been in the beginning if not for how unprepared Marvel's younger audience and more moderate readers were for something so radical. As for the black successors or versions of white characters, what's the problem? New characters can be cool and all, but it doesn't compare to the weight and reverence of being the real thing for audiences that want to see that. And it's not like Marvel or DC is erasing the original character's race, you can still have your original white X-Men but we just have our black X-Men too.

I'll be honest: the title/font was a little off-putting, and i don't have X-money to burn like i used to, so it just seemed like another title. BUT, hearing you cover this, getting previews of the art, and even just what little i'd gleaned from the character study/breakdowns, there's a lot to learn from this. hopefully, no sense of adventure lost, but yet again, an X-book willing to dive into a world that OUR world is clearly divided on... I'd say this is def a book worth checking out. MAYBE in trade, because - again - money. ugh.
