@@robertmurdock1848 one of my favourite ways to play is either changing up the team to fit the special character dialogues in the game for every mission, or play every mission as a different character (the ladder is hard to do unless you’re a bit higher of a level before playing but it’s kinda fun) In terms of the equipment I’ve never actually checked what the rarest equipment is in the game but after having saved game files since 2007 I’d assume I likely have some. Definitely something I should look into now, a new reason to play the game muahahahahahahaha!!!!!
This is one of a few games that I still wish would be remastered. The way they incorporated Marvel and X-Men lore into the game was mindblowing to me as a child
What I love about Dee Bradley Baker being nightcrawler, is that he's also Klaus in American Dad. And since they are both German, he uses basically the same voice. When my ex and I first played MUA, she called it instantly. "Is that fucking Klaus?"
I’ve just noticed that the prison guards in the opening cinematic look almost identical to the guards in the opening cinematic for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game, also developed by Raven! Another great game!
Each act in this game is so detailed and pulls so much inspiration from classic comics. It feels like you're playing a comic book, especially with characters all having a black outline.

Sinister betrayed Apocalypse in AoA, as well. I don't particularly remember why; most likely because Apocalypse stood in the way of Sinister's own ambitions.
I was so obsessed with this game as a child… I remember being so heartbroken Emma Frost was only playable towards the end of the first game, and she appeared in the second but wasn’t playable. I hope for a HQ version of this game at some point.. so much potential and so much love from the fans
Such a great complex game, I wish it would get more love, it fckin deserves it. All of the heroes are so unique and have different play styles. I mained the scarlet witch with the box ability and combustion, turning goons into cash boxes and then burning them was ecstatic
X-Men origins: Wolverine and the X2 tie in game would both be good ones to do as well. I think the X2 game gets overlooked too often. Was actually fun with Mark Hamill voicing Logan.
Definitely on my list! I recently found both of them at a used game store and snagged them for future retrospectives. I remember enjoying both and curious to see if they still hold up today

Thanks for giving the modding community a mention at the end! I really do hope you try MUA 1 mods someday, as they truly do enhance the experience. (Perhaps you could even make a full video about them someday, hmm? ...Wishful thinking.) As for Marvel games I'd like retrospectives of, one personal childhood game of mine that I'd like to see covered is Spider-Man: Friend or Foe. Looking back on it now, it's pretty much a "baby's first Ultimate Alliance", although as a kid, the idea of playing as the villains after beating them was really cool (and what kid DIDN'T want to control the likes of Venom?). Because of things like MUA 1 modding (where I can just play a full team of 4 Spidey villains if I wanted), I myself have no real incentive to seek the game out again, but I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on it, if you're interested.
Haha I do think that’s a fun idea! I need to scratch out some time and try to get them running on my pc. I’m anxious to try out iron fist and that 50 character roster! Friend or foe is a good choice! I’ll see if I can pick that one up at a local used game shop next time I’m out. I’m really interested to see if my perception of that game holds up after revisiting it
I’m disappointed the silly in-battle dialogue that were obvious hints didn’t get a mention! I still can hear Apocalypse saying, “You should not USE the machine!” ROFL
Love the game. Played 2 months ago. Love the feature that you can start a new game with the stats of the previous completed save - was able to level everyone to L99. Using Iron Man was awesome but Nightcrawler was my favourite overall as I got to jump to areas that weren't available yet as there were locked doors and force shields.
There are more special dialogues in the game: Toad/Blink, Iceman/Grizzly, Magneto/Zealot, Nightcrawler/Mr. Sinister, Wolverine/Lady Deathstrike, Gambit/Sebastian Shaw, Colossus/Kitty Pryde, and Jean Grey/Archangel (?). I believe that there's more, but I can't remember.
One thing I remember from this game is being scared shitless by the loading screens for the bosses, which often came out of nowhere and were really creepy looking.
Loved this game, as an x-men stan, I would kill for a modern game like this within the x-men universe. This was one is definitely my favourite between XML and MUA!
Wow! Great video and also! Grizzly’s voice actor is amazing so I had to look him up, and it’s actually Kieth Ferguson, the voice of Bloo from Foster’s 😂

Personally, If x-men legends ever got a third game I think, instead of mr sinister (who I love as villain but I don't see him working as big boss for a game), the main villain was Phoenix, with the game taking place in space, showing the adventurer side of x-men, with the heroes having adventures in other planets and meeting characters like Lilandra, the Shiar empiral guard, the Brood, Mojo and others
man I would love to see remasters of these games For the New generation consoles. Be so awesome To be able to just play it in general on the PS5 or xbox
I'm not even 7 minutes into the video and I can already confidently say that Logan flipping the bird with his middle claw is my favorite thing in this whole game lmfao
This game was fkn great, me and my best friend used to play the sh!t out of this game. And the fact that you can unlock Iron Man and Prof X after you beat the game is just something else. Makes you wanna go for another one, I had both X-Men: Legends games. He always used Wolverine and my main was Magneto. Good fkn times man, I am almost crying. Games used to be so much fun back then.
This was the first of these games I played and I have a lot of fond memories of it. "You can't do this! You're an X-Man!" is a line that really stuck with me. The cut scenes, writing, gameplay, and voice work are all great and I think hold up pretty well. Blum actually did the Wolverine voice for me at a con because I was dressed as Captain America; it was really cool and I didn't even ask him to.
One of my favorite games of all time, and the best x-men game to date imo. Also, my favorite version of this style of comic book based rpg game too. So many combinations you can make with characters that are pretty darn faithful to the comics and their abilities. Just so darn good!
That's funny he mentioned the Mikhail boss fight. When I was 12 my parents and sister played this game and we tried 10 times and couldn't pass it. I hopped on solo and got passed it by myself. He's not kidding, it was really hard
Dawg watchin these retrospectives it’s literally like goin back in time to when I was a kid just sitting there admiring a righteous game. I love that the X-men legends games still hold up today. Keep up the awesome work man.
This was my favorite game back in the day. In fact, I played this game First before playing the 1st X-Men Legends. When I tell you I enjoyed getting into the Lore of the X-Men and Age of Apocolypse! Sheesh, I still need to figure out on Getting an Omnibus for it. If there is one.
Ngl this is best game I've played in my life. I've lost track of the number of times I've brought up this game in conversations. Sidenote... PC is the best version cause it gets Pyro. Pyro has a bug that grants 0 MP requirement for his auto targetting fire bats. You get to spam like 10 per second at some point and it is broken.
I've been an dedicated viewer since your 2nd or third MUA3 videos before it came out and honestly it is so great to see how your channel has grown. You've covered my most favorite marvel games, XML 1 and 2, and paid such a good respect to the games that paved the way for the MUA trilogy. Such a good video, and an amazing retrospective. 10/10 needy content.
This game introduced me to Deadpool. I always got a kick out of knowing about him before most of my friends. I only played him so much because he had the night crawler teleport too
I played this game with my mom who also enjoyed it. She found Deadpool to have a nice body (suit-only), but her problem with him: He never shuts up and found his behavior rather questionable.
Dude I keep rewatching this! You did a good job and I feel like requesting a game but every game you’ve done a retrospective on, you’ve done a great job! Great work keep it up
Thank you so much!!! That really means a lot to me 😃 If you think of a game you’d like to see covered, definitely let me know. I’m trying to keep tabs on games people want to see so I know which ones to prioritize
Loved this game growing up! Between playing as my favorite characters such as Wolverine to Colossus as well as Magneto Scarlet Witch and Toad, the incredibly well done cinematic CG and story, def worth a revisit!
There kinda is a DC version of ultimate alliance already released on the PS2 called justice league heroes it's got similar gameplay and is still very fun to this day criminally underated game
This was a great video. X-Men Legends 2 is one of my all time favorite video games. It's top 3 for, possibly my favorite of all time. I have it on X-Box and PC. I've beaten it like 15 times or something crazy like that. I actually levelled Jean Grey and Magneto's energy stat so high the game started subtracting points from them. 😂 The score is one of the best parts of the game. My only major complaint with the game aside from some bugs, is the lack of classic 90s costumes for characters like Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, and Magneto. John Dimaggio as Juggernaut is the star of the show for me. He's the definitive Juggernaut for me. I actually have 2 PC copies of it as well as my X-Box version.
It just occurred to me; the soldiers in the opening scene have the same models as the ones from the intro of X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged, another X-Men game by Raven Software.
Lord the memories I had of this game, before I even knew about the comics, this was my first introduction to the X-men and it all seemed so interesting, thought ice-man was the coolest (no pun intended), now that I know more I'm definitely playing this again
The Madri Temple soundtrack is my absolute favourite in the game. Its the one that stands out the most to me. Its so gothic. And the Gregorian chants are such a nice touch. Absolutely adds to the eeriness.
I absolutely loved this game! so glad you finally got to your retro on it. there’s so much to love about this game but the customization is unmatched compared to the all of the other games in this pseudo franchise. being able choose different attacks and passive abilities made each character tailored to your play style. personal favorites was how rogue could steal powers from enemies and stun them, Jean’s telekinesis that I would use to drop enemies off map edges haha, and scarlet witch’s hex bolts were always so beautiful. I would gladly play a remastered version but I’d also accept MUA4 with more abilities/costumes
I can’t believe I didn’t think to throw enemies off the map with Jean 🤦♂️ That sounds like fun lol. I’d also love a remaster, it definitely deserves one.
@@alwaysnerdyretros oh yes! I’m sure they never intended it since no characters or npc’s can casually walk off the map but Magneto & Jean both had powers for it haha. easily my favorite part of the game.

The thing about the character roster. I've extracted sound files from PS2 copy of the game, and found out that it had voice clips of all exculsive characters. Just finished games using Iceman and Bishop meleeing through the whole game.
I'm still trying to acquire all 9 of the Unique pieces of equipment. I had 6 on a save file once , but made the mistake of erasing it.
One of the things I'd like to see them do if a remaster ever happens , is having the character specific equipment in the weapon cache be applied to the character who opened the cache and for be for one of their activated skills.
@@robertmurdock1848 one of my favourite ways to play is either changing up the team to fit the special character dialogues in the game for every mission, or play every mission as a different character (the ladder is hard to do unless you’re a bit higher of a level before playing but it’s kinda fun)
In terms of the equipment I’ve never actually checked what the rarest equipment is in the game but after having saved game files since 2007 I’d assume I likely have some. Definitely something I should look into now, a new reason to play the game muahahahahahahaha!!!!!
This game did a far more better job at portraying every Marvel Comic Mutant than any live-action X-MEN movie.
Deadpool and Wolverine
This is one of a few games that I still wish would be remastered. The way they incorporated Marvel and X-Men lore into the game was mindblowing to me as a child
What I love about Dee Bradley Baker being nightcrawler, is that he's also Klaus in American Dad. And since they are both German, he uses basically the same voice. When my ex and I first played MUA, she called it instantly.
"Is that fucking Klaus?"
oh my god
This is such an amazing comment lol
I’ve just noticed that the prison guards in the opening cinematic look almost identical to the guards in the opening cinematic for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game, also developed by Raven! Another great game!
This game hits me with nostalgia so hard, It's still enjoyable play it even 15 years later.
I was surprised at how well it holds up
Each act in this game is so detailed and pulls so much inspiration from classic comics. It feels like you're playing a comic book, especially with characters all having a black outline.
You should do a retrospective for Ultimate Spider-Man, that game was amazing and I feel like it's extremely underrated.
You know, I never got to play it as a kid so I’d definitely love trying it out now! It’s definitely one I plan on getting to
@@alwaysnerdyretros its great, and its a part of the bigger marvel universe
It was such a good story they implemented it into the Ultimate comics of Spider-Man.
Maaaaaan I was so hurt when Beast wasn’t a playable character! He was my man in the last game! But I love this game a lot.. wish we had 2 more X-Men Legends games after this. I’ve always dreamt of the the third X-Men Legends was Days of Future Past based so there you could introduce new characters and explain what happened to the previous playable or why they’re NPC.
This is my all time favorite game. I have played this game every way possible, with every character. The music is great, the story is good, and the character roster is great for it's time. I wish we could get a 3rd one but I doubt itll happen. My go to team is always Wolverine, Bishop, Magneto, and Juggernaut.
Unfortunately i never played this one for myself i only played the first xmen game i jus wish they could remaster these xmen games like they did with ultimate alliance 1 and 2
I totally agree. I ended up using an emulator on my laptop to play this one. It upscaled the graphics and allowed me to use a controller still, so it could be the next best thing if you’re anxious to play it
@@alwaysnerdyretros Good Afternoon "Always Nerdy" what website did you use to get the Emulator for this game? And do you think I would be able to download this onto my Alienware Area 51 Desktop computer?
I love this game. I still play this game till this day.
Really happy to see another video from you. although I never had the chance to play xmen legends 1 or 2 in my childhood I live hearing about these games from you it's amazing getting this info about games like these
Thank you for the feedback! I’ve always wondered if these videos were interesting at all for someone who hasn’t played the game, so I’m glad to hear it is 😃 Thanks for checking it out and I hope you enjoy this one as well
Sinister betrayed Apocalypse in AoA, as well. I don't particularly remember why; most likely because Apocalypse stood in the way of Sinister's own ambitions.
I love how magnetos cape makes it look like mystique has long red hair in the opening for a second.
I was so obsessed with this game as a child… I remember being so heartbroken Emma Frost was only playable towards the end of the first game, and she appeared in the second but wasn’t playable.
I hope for a HQ version of this game at some point.. so much potential and so much love from the fans
Man this was one of the greatest gifts to the life of an X-men fan dude
Such a great complex game, I wish it would get more love, it fckin deserves it. All of the heroes are so unique and have different play styles. I mained the scarlet witch with the box ability and combustion, turning goons into cash boxes and then burning them was ecstatic
A video about X-Men Legends 2 in 2021. Definitely didn't have that on my bingo card, but I love it, one of my 3 favorite games ever
I've played this game more times then I can count. It never gets old!
I’m so glad I found your channel. I was in the middle of watching this video and then it just got taken out of it and I could not find your video or your channel again temporarily it said it was locked or taken down. I love your details. I love how passionate you sound. Thanks for all you do and reviewing some of my favorite games as a kid and games I plan on replaying.
Thank you so much!!! Your kind words mean a lot to me and I appreciate you taking the time to tell me. I think the channel is back to normal now, so I’m looking forward to continuing progress on more new content :)
Thanks for giving the modding community a mention at the end! I really do hope you try MUA 1 mods someday, as they truly do enhance the experience. (Perhaps you could even make a full video about them someday, hmm? ...Wishful thinking.)
As for Marvel games I'd like retrospectives of, one personal childhood game of mine that I'd like to see covered is Spider-Man: Friend or Foe.
I’m really interested to see if my perception of that game holds up after revisiting it
You can already play as those villains in other games without modding
I’m disappointed the silly in-battle dialogue that were obvious hints didn’t get a mention! I still can hear Apocalypse saying, “You should not USE the machine!” ROFL
This game was my introduction to Deadpool.
Mine was Ultimate Alliance actually, these games were all great for getting a crash course in marvel/xmen lore
These cinematics really hold up. Apart from the haziness they’ve aged extremely well.
Totally agree. The money spent on using a third party was well spent.
I play this game almost every night on game cube, hands-down my favorite marvel game
This is both my favorite superhero game and one of my favorite games ever. Man I love everything about this game
Year 2023 and this game is still so fun and better than most modern games.
Emma Frost diamond form was so OP in the first one though lol, she was the perfect crowd control character
I agree. Her Psychic abilities felt like they actually did something. And her Diamond buff didn’t hurt either.
@@DeathtotheAshes exactly! I guess ppl think she sucked because technically her powers didn’t do any damage, but it for sure had debuffs on the enemy!
I only wish she actually transformed with her buff like Magma does but she was great either way
In the Deadpool game Mr Sinister is the main villain so it counts👍🏻
Love the game. Played 2 months ago. Love the feature that you can start a new game with the stats of the previous completed save - was able to level everyone to L99. Using Iron Man was awesome but Nightcrawler was my favourite overall as I got to jump to areas that weren't available yet as there were locked doors and force shields.
This is hands down the best Xmen game ever ! Man I had fun completing this and it was challenging as hell too
i love after after all these years to see people still talking about these great games that filled my childhood
When Mystique searches for Destiny, she has a special dialogue with Rogue.
*S/N Jean has special dialogue with Grizzly as well
There are more special dialogues in the game: Toad/Blink, Iceman/Grizzly, Magneto/Zealot, Nightcrawler/Mr. Sinister, Wolverine/Lady Deathstrike, Gambit/Sebastian Shaw, Colossus/Kitty Pryde, and Jean Grey/Archangel (?). I believe that there's more, but I can't remember.
@@DarkScorpionPete98 you're making me want to get this game again.
@@DarkScorpionPete98would've been dope to have seen Scarlet Witch and Iron Man interact.
One thing I remember from this game is being scared shitless by the loading screens for the bosses, which often came out of nowhere and were really creepy looking.
Loved this game, as an x-men stan, I would kill for a modern game like this within the x-men universe. This was one is definitely my favourite between XML and MUA!
I wish Archangel/Angel was playable in any of these games. He's the only original member of the X-Men not to be playable in a raven marvel game.
Can we talk about how shredded Professor Xavier was lmao
Nightcrawler was OP. The Master of Chaos & teleport frenzy moves were 🔥🔥🔥
Wow! Great video and also! Grizzly’s voice actor is amazing so I had to look him up, and it’s actually Kieth Ferguson, the voice of Bloo from Foster’s 😂
Wake up honey! Always Nerdy has another marvel retrospective out!
Hahaha let your partner sleep! 😂
I miss Leigh-Allyn Baker as Jean, what a loss :(
Wolverine changing outfits was funny. Thanks for these two videos especially this one. Absolutely needed this as I love retrospectives on games I never got a chance to play. Brilliant stuff.
LOVE THIS GAME!!! Can't wait to finish my Xmen Legends 1 playthrough to then start recording this game!!! Too many great memories
I’m completely new to this channel, i came across it last night and I have watched the three MUA videos and both legends videos. Both game series were games I had played multiple times, I even still own a couple of MUA games. Needless to say due to the fact that I binge watched long form videos about games I’ve played already, I really enjoy this channel. I love how in-depth they are and how much I really feel you enjoyed these games. It’s refreshing to see someone who isn’t just playing a game because it will look good in the algorithm. Your channel is great and deserves more attention, obviously you gained a subscriber today. I have been reading comics my whole life (30 years) and it’s great to see the characters I love spoken about with such reverence! Keep up the awesome videos, I look forward to seeing more from this awesome channel as a fellow nerd!
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and let me know you’re liking the videos 😃 It may not seem like much, but comments like these keep me going. It’s been so much fun doing these videos, and I’m so glad to hear that you’re enjoying them too.
Are there any games you’re hoping to see covered in the future?
@@alwaysnerdyretrosWow, I never expected an answer! It is truly awesome that you take the time out to respond to your community! You deserve a much larger following than you have and although I said it in my first comment I really enjoy you showing so much love to the medium that helped shape my life. The comment really put a smile on my face and I thank you for the response. As far as requests I don’t have anything in particular, maybe injustice if you like DC, the old Ps1 fantastic 4 game, or if you don’t mind being cliche, a deep dive into the Arkham series would be awesome. I had played the MUA games so long ago I didn’t even remember what the stories were, it was great to hear such and in depth take on them. I don’t know if you play mobile games or online games but dc universe I hear has a big story as well as contest of champions and future fight.
@@alwaysnerdyretros actually I just thought of a good game possibility, hulk: ultimate destruction!
@@drethom087 Haha no problem! I try to respond if I can! Plus your comment was incredibly kind and supportive. I really appreciated that and it means a lot!
I actually have the PS1 F4 game laying around right now. I definitely plan on getting to it, although I’ve never played it. Believe it or not, you’re the first person to suggest it. But I think most people just don’t know it exists 😆 Batman Arkham would be fun, especially with the movie coming out! I know pretty much every channel has covered it, but it would be fun to revisit. I’m not sure about mobile games yet. I’m not quite sure how I’d tackle those yet and they’re quite the time sink 😅
Great suggestions though and I hope to get to the majority of them! I truly appreciate you taking the time to leave such kind feedback too. Thanks again 😃
@@alwaysnerdyretros I just realized my original comment said I’ve been reading comments for 30 years 😂😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ I meant comics!!!
A cameo from Corsair would have been pretty sweet as well too. Character specific dialogue between him and Scott would have been amazing!!
My brother and I replayed this series constantly. So much fun. So many special games from those years.
man I would love to see remasters of these games For the New generation consoles.
Wolverine was my main too, the rest was pretty much minions to navegate the cenario and puzzes
I love this game and still pop it in my gamecube every now and then
Emma Frost was the 3rd hint in the madri temple lol. She’s wealthy too. Plus she was part of the four that he needed! Great video
This and Spider-Man 2 were the first superhero games I ever had on my GameCube and I’ll forever be grateful for the endless memories
I like the idea of having Iron Man in the game as a precursor to MUA
Unique dialoug when highlighted character magneto is the best fourth wall breaker pick up the controller.
Cinemactics in this game are just amazing.
I adored the Legends games so much as a kid. I'd absolutely love a remaster/reboot of the series.
I’m trying to keep tabs on games people want to see so I know which ones to prioritize
it’s insane how good the cinematics still look, also juggernaut wearing black armor instead of light brown kind of works for me
0:01 Seconds in : Henry Cavill Cyclops
Definitely has the height and the build. Wish I could too.
I had the GameCube version of this game; it was a fast load, in between levels.
My main squad was Storm, Iceman, Deadpool, and Nightcrawler.
Loved this game growing up! Between playing as my favorite characters such as Wolverine to Colossus as well as Magneto Scarlet Witch and Toad, the incredibly well done cinematic CG and story, def worth a revisit!
Jean’s Dark Phoenix move helps in the Madri Temple 😊😊😊
Would love to see a retrospective on the X-men Destiny game, so many people have forgotten about that game
I loved playing the different hidden groups such as classic X-men and heavy metal
X men Legends 3 or MUA4 would be nice to see. Or even a DC version of MUA would be nice.
Yes, only instead of Doom they'd use the most intimidating man of DC history...
Calendar Man
@@notmakingcontent yes lol and on holidays he could be a raid boss🤣
Thoughts on Marvel Heroes Omega.Anyone? Anyone at all?...
There kinda is a DC version of ultimate alliance already released on the PS2 called justice league heroes it's got similar gameplay and is still very fun to this day criminally underated game
@@infamous6283 Yeah that was a fun one too. I like how they handled Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Green Lantern's powers especially
Yall I just got X-men Legends 2 at a used game store and I'm so happy I can experience this
This was a great video.
The score is one of the best parts of the game.
Apocalpyse randomly showing up in dark corners in the cinematics is fucking terrifying.
Lord the memories I had of this game, before I even knew about the comics, this was my first introduction to the X-men and it all seemed so interesting, thought ice-man was the coolest (no pun intended), now that I know more I'm definitely playing this again
Excellent video and amazing work! This is one of the favorite games of my childhood. Thanks you!
Thanks for checking it out! 😃
@@OldManMigs I loved doing that in mua. I’ll have to give that a try next time I replay XML2 😆
cyclops, nightcrawler, rouge and scarlet witch was the team i used the most, loved this game
Maybe it's just missing old games but this is one id love a remake for
Great retrospective as always. Xmen Legends 2 will forever be one of my all time favorite games (i may be a bit biased) it will always be fun, and i dont know if its nostalgia but the game means so much to me, it also is the definitive xmen experience in videogames, something i will always hold in my heart ahah. I still have a physical copy of the PC version.
The thing about the character roster. I've extracted sound files from PS2 copy of the game, and found out that it had voice clips of all exculsive characters. I think, they were supposed to be in the original release, but were cut for some reason.
I've compiled all playble characters voice clips: ua-cam.com/video/90tiT-bD-8Y/v-deo.html
What a lovely little piece of nostalgia. Thank you for doing this video.
Thank you for watching!
