THEY OUTSOURCE BANNING?!?!?!? This is insaneeeeeee for a game people have dedicated literally a decade to potentially and thousands upon thousands of hours
This has been obvious for a long time. If you have any interaction with any report response/mods regarding bans/or locked accounts in general, every response you’ll get from Jagex is automated and received within seconds of even posting your appeal. If your account is banned or locked for any reason ever you might as well consider it gone.

18 year old account, if it gets banned tomorrow and isn’t rectified through all the proper channels, including X, then I accept that as a fact and must move on. I have emotional attachment to the account but accept that nothing is forever.
I very much understand attachment to these digital experiences, but let’s be real the weight we add to these is foolish. I could get false banned tomorrow, jagex could get sold and gutted tomorrow- enjoy what you have while you have it

My original account 20yrs ago ban for macros or something cheaty, all I got was pic of my character auto following a bot from ess mining to bank, no appeal, it was a moment to rest my hand ..... I stopped playing 20yrs ish
i made an alt years ago, quit playing for years. remembered i had an alt, try to log in. couldnt log in, recovered the account and it was banned. i appealed and got it back. made it in 2019, got banned in 2020, recovered it in 2023. So i think, as long as there is quite some time inbetween, and they've seen ppl change the password etc. you can get your hacked/botted account back through an appeal

I remember once when i was a kid, and like one of the first few days i became a member, i got banned for 2 weeks.
One guy while i was doing farming came up and said ``hey i know Zezima`s name`` And then as it was an obvious joke i went : Yeah i got Zezima`s name and password.
Got straight up 2 week ban for that, i was devastated as a kid lmao. I cant remember the exact reason they gave for though.

On the VPN question: It'll show you as being somewhere else, sure.
But that somewhere else will be "Where your VPN provider is located".
Which means anyone with a bit of knowledge on the topic will easily pinpoint which VPN service you're using...

It took almost 4 years for them to help me with my account ban. It was perm banned because it was hacked and used as a green dragon bot. Even more wild is that nothing was wiped.

I'd pay to video chat with a real person if I was false banned, and I'm sure plenty of people would as well, and that could save Jagex money. It is better to pay $5 to talk to a real person and talk face to face and know it's getting attention, then to be left in the dark and lose the account. Maybe we should try to have jagex do something like that?
Funny thing almost 2 weeks ago, i got a false ban for rwt by helping some guy at the ge because he was at his buy limit. And a Jmod told me they don't really care if it was false or not
I’ve botted a fair bit in the past and I can say from experience I’ve been caught eventually each time…keyword eventually.
Whatever system they use has no standard by any sense but it’s def gotten worse I have a f2p acc that still bots. I’ve had quick bans but I’ve also gotten 99’s before with no bans.
Whatever they use they need to do some R&D before letting any system automate anything.
It’s better that 100 quilty men go free, then 1 innocent man be persecuted.

Ive always been a firm believer that vpns should be banned from all video games. They serve no purpose outside of helping hide malicious activities and increase lag in multiplayer games.
This is a very silly immature take, while yes, vpns can certainly be abused, they are also used to keep other people from doxxing you, ddosing you, etc. NOT saying its common, but it does happen, not to mention all the content creators who basically HAVE to use vpns because their accounts specifically are always targeted
Do Jagex extend the member period if you get falsly banned for couple of days so you have to wait until they remove the ban.
I got perm banned for rwt, never had an offence on my account and unappealable 🙃 having to beg on twitter for it to be looked at is insane I’ve just given up and started a new account, the customer service is fucking horrendous in this game

Why is this the only MMORPG I can think of with the sketchiest player base. Like I've played Gw2, ESO, every variant of world of warcraft that has ever existed new or old, and I haven't seen anyone to go the lengths Runescape players go too to just fuck somebody else over? Like fake clients, the dodgy appeal system, people lying about appeals. I mean money yeah, well, that's probably the only answer to everything.
Sadly, I believe it's cause making real-world money thru the game is so easy. Making people you are looking to just have fun a possible victim for someone with bad intentions.
I got banned for trading a toxicblow pipe to my second account to do one quest then got banned for real world trading

Did you even watch the video? You don’t know what specific action you got banned for. Saying “I got banned cuz I gave myself a blowpipe” is just factually false, because they don’t ban for that. If you got a ban for RWT that means at some point in the past few months or years you RWT with one of those accounts.

You’re not safe auto-clicking in a private instance. Just less likely unless the algorithm detects your click pattern.
A computer can detect that your mouse clicked in the exact screen coordinate point multiple times in a row or a pattern with an exact MS time in between which is impossible for a human to do.
The safest way to auto click is to run it with variable delay between clicks and where the clicks are slightly offset every other click to bypass getting flagged.

@@Winsor1986no, any bot maker knows this. But non bot makers, just normal players who want a quick way to cheat, will easily just download a barebones auto clicker.

If you just run some basic mouse recorder, you probably will get banned pretty quick. You have to use one that specifically was made for bypassing the algorithm with variable clicks.

A LOT of players are botting their accounts. From 99 skiller accounts, inferno guys with 1 kc but no other kc, 80/90 combat level with thousands of cg kc. They're mostly botting. Kinda embarrassing tbf. And if a humble 1800 total level can spot it, then jagex, j mods and p mods can spot it. Its just a question of if they do something about it.
It’s not embarrassing. Most of us have careers, families, and things to do outside of playing this game. Look at everybody that is so gung ho on AFK methods, because the tedious clicking on a tree for hours and hours and hours on end is awful and nobody likes it. All of this grind just to eventually enjoy the best aspects of the game. I‘m currently botting my account while not playing and have already achieved several 99s the higher level my account gets, the more enjoyable the game is for me. Get over yourself.
I think the most frustrating part is you see mass gold farming bots then you think "jagex doesn't care so I'm going to bot some agility" then you get insta banned. Yes, it's 100% against the rules but why is me getting a few levels punished more harshly than someone mass gold farming?

because those bot farms make them money lol. ive seen a f2p rune smithing bot farm at varrock. f2p accounts with smithing xp ranging from 14m to 30m. one even had 80m xp. It's so weird to me bots with those xp values dont get flagged/banned

I used an autoclicker a lot at one point and occasionally at other points. I'm kinda just waiting for when my account gets banned and to find out whether it's permanent or temporary. It's my original account tied to my rs3 account from way back in the day and I've upgraded it to a jagex account and play on both pc and mobile. Like I imagine it's a matter of time I get banned but I'd hope it's not bad enough I get perm'd when there is a significant amount of my account that is legit. Like it's not like I botted fire cape or anything, mostly just alched a bunch of shit before realizing the time investment was not worth even autoclicking for.

You're probably safe. I got banned once, I think, for two weeks years ago, and never botted again, I've been fine ever since.
Did you watch the entire video? lol. if you haven't been banned yet, they won't just randomly check your account and ban you out of nowhere, there is no where near enough time to do stuff like that. Auto clickers are not a big concern for them when it comes to botting. It would likely require extensive and constant usage every day for a long time to trigger the automated system. Usually that happens because someone reports you, and if that were the case, it would have happened while you were using it, not months or years down the line.

Botted for under 15k mining exp Banned Perm. 6 years ago. Account was many years old. Multiple 99’s. Had a child and it hurt my freetime. Thus I downloaded the bot… mistake… but obviously it hurt me as 6 years later I’m posting about it here.

a while ago i made my first alt and just played it for like 10 hours. All i did was leveling some mining some woodcutting some combat levels and then i got banned. Appeal got rejected. Like what the fuck the system is done. Cant tell me that these bans are deserved. It was a f2p account and i didnt do any kind of click perfect shit i was literally just afking a bit. I could understand some mistake in the system but the appeal getting rejected just shows that they dont care about their player base at all. This banning system will be the downfall of osrs because the more players they bann for no reason the smaller the player base will become

My only experience being banned was I got into osrs during covid and thought i was real slick using an autoclicker to spam camelot tele to train magic and i got a 2 week ban or something, posted on Reddit about it and realized that I 1000% deserved it lol
Honestly they need to implement AI that can do this then they could check every account potentially in “depth”

Either way, yeah, I think the operative problem is the appeal system. Otherwise, I think it’s true - at least over half the people claiming they were falsely banned, pry deserved the ban.
I think the worst part, for me, is allowing severe multi-logging, because it IS dubious, and I consider it an unfair advantage over other players, and just unhealthy.
If you’re splashing rats, to 99 over 20 accounts, yeah, that’s BS, and you deserve every ban - you’re not doing that for nothing, and if I was a mod, I’d totally keep my eye on the account holder, and slap them down, without appeal, the moment they make a mistake.
Honestly speaking the people that deserve it always invested enough in cheating that it does not bother them. More than half of the people that take the time to cry on social media, knowing the blow back they will get are likely legit and spotting the only shot they ever have since the appeal system is a joke

I mean, if you trade with someone and get an RWT mark, that IS NOT your fault, if you didn’t know the other trader had dirty gold or an item. That’s something Jagex needs to fix.
Then again, it shows the system works, but, in the wrong way, and needs some ironing. However, if you’re omitting something, nobody can tell, and I’ll be honest, I will rarely believe someone - but that’s my own bias and issues, and we’re all subject to that, sadly.
I think they could automate the appeal process, yeah, but it needs to be human reviewed, every time, and responded to.
Jagex just needs to put down an AI system led by honest well paid nerds, that chases bot farms and blame it on AI.
This is surprising, I’ve sold billions of gold and basically macro’d to 99 mage and fletching in the past and my account is still pristine.
I have a mountain of anecdotal evidence of this. A multitude of friends who sold off their banks when quitting and being untouched when they return, straight up botting with crappy clients for millions of xp without consequence, etc.
I’m dumbfounded by how inconsistent the distribution of bans are between actual RWTers and innocent players.

False bans happen more frequently than you’d think. This isn’t something new.
A hot take, and a shit one. Jagex’s bot detection and banning systems are notoriously shoddy. We’ve seen HCIMS and UIMs banned for RWTing (you know, account types that literally cannot trade other players), content creators who stream every moment of their accounts have been banned for botting, and as the Mod Trident/Stella situation has proven, JMods are susceptible to corruption and targeted bans at the behest of others.
