You have no idea how happy this video made me, seriously. I didn’t click on until you guys were at wintertoldt and you right clicked the guy in pink. Those are all the same people who lured me and I lost my bank (1b) I was being stupid and trying to get that gilded because I thought the other guy did. I got it all on video and it was rough, played for years to save that up and I have played since, just lost al motivation. That was around 4 months ago.

I was seriously scared when the twisted cane appeared, I can see how people fall for it
14:48 I literally went frame by frame and it never showed the tbow being removed or the cane being added on the first trade screen. Must actually be tick perfect script to do that. Actually insanely hard to notice

it should be easiyl solved if jagex adds a 5 tick-delay between putting and item and clicking on trade and add a warning pop-up message when trade is unbalanced ( eg: trading an 100k item for 200k)@@ConyeOSRS
Yeah it's actually not hard to mask the swap even by hand. I did a quick swap to troll a friend once when we were collating gear and it took him a solid 20 seconds after the trade completed to realize I still had his bow (I gave it back of course. Friendship>gp). These scammers will use macros tho that make it legit instant. If you aren't carefully watching second screen, you'll never see it change.

Online criminals think they're so tough when they know the only reason they scam is because they couldn't get over being bullied as a kid.
Fun fact: the first account that comes up to trade you before the pavlovian scam is checking to see if you have the trade delay on. The scam only works if its turned off so its a way of weeding out people with the delay on that they can't scam using that method.
Surely Jagex just needs to get rid of that setting and force everyone to have trade delay

Thanks for mentioning this. Always remember, the guy telling you "it's not a scam" is always part of the scam and he will try to scam you too. When you spot a scammer just hop worlds and turn off private.

That's exactly what I was thinking! It would be hilarious to just waste these fools time by being an utter nuisance that makes them do all the set-up only to just be like: "Oh look at the time - dinner. See ya!" Because they clearly think they are far more intelligent than they actually are, so just picturing how they are drooling with anticipation at a big payday only to have the grin vanish as they spot they just got played. Adding extra flavor to it by just pretending to be the most incompetent and clueless player to ever play that takes like five minutes to process anything by asking them the stupidest and most tedious questions imaginable at every turn.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I lost a twisted bow this way (second method). He repeatedly switched from a figure like 1,500m to 1,500k and I wound up taking him for like 50mil. And then, on the 30th attempt, he switched it from 1,500m to 150m for the first time because I was focused on the unit and lost my tbow. It happens, don't mess around. It felt truly terrible and I wound up quitting for about 4 months because of it.
I remember quitting runescape in like 2005 because someone scammed me for everything while trying to buy a whip. I feel like my 7th grade self has been avenged.

14:50 Another thing they're doing is prompting the 'trade modified' notification with the token increase. That conceals the swap of the twisted items since you think it's only because of the tokens

I had that trade scam happen to me when I had an ely and managed to swipe 50m off a scammer before logging. Was sharing my screen in a discord call with my friends too nobody could believe it happened

so iv got my own 10 hp iron obby mauler i built to harrass the chins bots, but iv encountered a problem. snare is giving my iron magic xp in a pvp scenario, is this a bug?
that trading scene, made my heart skip a beat
I found a bunch of loot on the floor one time back in 06. It was obby shield and cape which was worth something back then. Some dude lured me into lumbridge swamp and down into the hole. He took me past the frogs and then used a wind spell on the frog near me which extinguished my candle. I was totally unaware and ended up dying for everything. I have never seen anybody do this trick ever again and not sure if it still works. But would be nice for you to check it out.

so many light sources can't be extinguished nowadays, plus you can get permanent light down there after a quest and a bit of effort
I’m mainly curious to see whether this mechanic in the game still exists. I would have never guessed an air wave or whatever air spell it was used on a monster could extinguish the flame of someone close by.
It does there's one that has to do with down stairs near or at varrock bank and not having a light source idk if it's still a thing but I remember watching a scam about it on osrs some years back

One scammer gave me 200k at ge and told me to follow him. So I banked everything and followed. 5min later he gave me 500k and told me to wear my best gear. I teleported out and walked away with my free 700k.
The trading at the end, was more a high risk game then a scam lol

Got scammed on 3b gp a week ago, got my bank down to 400m becouse of those scammers. I still feel awful. And it actualy hurt me a bit. Got me thinking about continuing my runescape journey. I hope every scammer gets banned, but i know it wont happen, and someone else will get hurt, thats sad. I hope you continue these anti scam videos, to hurt those scammers even a bit.

@@jivyajinn4144 they used telegrab trick in ferox enclave, told me its safe on the bridge, and i fell for it(as soon as you leave thru portal its pvp zone) It was very thought out by them, they start by making friends with you talking on discord with you gaining your trust...
I was shitting myself when it came to the twisted bow trades but was completely over the moon when you took down the lurer in the pvp world ❤️😍

Thank you for avenging my dumbass who got lured for a shadow and full ancestral with the first method shown in this video. In addition to that method they also let me get away with successfully counterscamming them for about a month. Man I felt so dumb when they actually got me because the 60m or whatever I got away with was not even close to the 2b I lost. They tried selling me back my items and gold via RWT after :( I quit the game shortly after because I felt like I was limited on content since I sold bowfa for ancestral when I got my shadow
With some animation stalls the trade itself can send you out into the danger zone

@xortrox that bank is kinda safe because 2-3 tiles to get pushed out i believe stalls are patched in pvp worlds so what he could do is trade without run haha but main point what they do is they walk under you when they trade you ore they have 2nd account with same name outside safezone ore the decline trade ore other option diffrent bank telling you its safe there but it is not safe bank like babarian assault ore crafting bank so manny places methods they can do even i dont know all but i try to find out my self without risking my bank

Ayyyy Virtuality here, yeah other method is two alts with similar names where one trades and quick teleports out somewhere nearby while decoy still at bank, then accept trade lures you out of bank.
