Ive mined 80k star dust so far, best update of the year. And you know people are sitting at jagex like ..bruh... we spent months working on a quest and bosses and new gear and items and the MOST popular update by far is a shooting stars tweak LOL

With an aging player base, players have other things going on in their lives. I for one don't want to work all day and support my family to come home and 3tick granite as my relaxation time. It's not fun and not good for the game. Being able to relax, throw on a movie or stream and let my character afk on a star is great. I got bored of sand mining and felt burnt out, but the new star method has gotten me logging in again.
Why is pvm so loved. I get it you like pvm but don't bash skilling or act like skilling is just for pvm and everybody hates skilling and only wants pvm. I enjoy skilling. And it's a huge part of rs maybe another game if you don't like the chill grinds.
Holy crap, the elitism and gatekeeping of those bad takes is astonishing. These guys really do not have a life outside OSRS, do they?
I know I'm a month late and they nerfed shooting stars slightly, but I think it's bit Ironic people who use tick manip methods to get 100k+ xp mining method call this easy scape. They are getting way higher xp than intended through a bug and they call 20k per hour xp too much lol. I know Jagex mentioned in one of early forestry blogs that they "didn't want to devalue tick manipulation methods" but I say fuck that shit and make some high xp per hour yet challenging content for every skill similar to hollowed sepulcher. That way we can get the best xp rates in the game without developing a wrist injury.
So many of these people seriously lack a sense of self-validation. You should be able to look at the 200m and be like "Yeah, I did that, and it took me ages. I'm proud.", not "Nooooo now other people will think I did this with the new 'easy' way!!!! My life is ruined!!!!!"

I mean skilling is not only boring, it's also almost entirely worthless. Each skill has like 1 or 2 (outside of farming/herblore) useful resources. Mining has only sandstone/amethyst and the toa room
As the playerbase ages, I think it's the only way to keep players engaged. It's unrealistic to think people working day jobs are going to sit down and want to train for 2 hours using methods which require a lot of attention.

this is a good update, i woulda never trained mining otherwise. not everyone wants to waste their lifes clicking a fucking rock that nets no gain whatsoever.
Another point that wasn't made, stars have been available for a few years. And you would still get similar xp & afk time. The only actual difference (now) is that players are not punished for sharing the star locations with other players. We are not punished for social gameplay now.
Shooting stars is amazing now, I feel it is finally what it always should have been. Mining sucks and all the afk methods are basically not afk. Mother load mine is awful as afk, just long enough that it’s boring but too short to actually chill fully when doing it.
It sucks that this update is genuinely bothering people but I love it. Mining is horrible. If I can afk it I’m going to. Otherwise I will just never get it to 99 on any acc lmao
