I would love to see more Diablo 2 challenge runs if you're interested in doing them. Diablo 2 was part of my childhood and the Necromancer is still one of my favorite ever classes and the only game to get necromancy right.

Lemon, for future D2R runs. You can drink antidote before being poisoned. It giving you 75% resistance to poison which drastically reduces damage. Also, for this one, commenting in middle of video, you can find necromancer's wand with Iron maiden which is another sort of Thorns (from Ormus in chapter 3) for weapon swap P.S. not sure they are stack, but you can found some "attacker takes X damage" on items which even having same visual as thorns
one of my favorite tricks in Diablo 2 is a combo of the Necromancer's "iron maiden" skill and his "blood golem" skill. in the original game (not sure about the remake), that reflected damage counts as damage done BY the golem, which triggers the golem's "life steal" ability, making it GAIN health. easily beating any melee-type enemy. well, except the second major boss, since he also does Ice damage.
I would have been OK with you using non-thorns attacks to kill Lord de Seis just to see how the rest of the run goes. Also, as another commenter has pointed out, you can kite the 4 mini bosses out of the area and the game will think they're dead and spawn diablo😀
There are only 3 mini bosses and I just checked, after activating all seals and kiting the bosses outside to the river of flame Diablo does not spawn. After killing them outside of the sanctuary Diablo spawns like normal.
Holy fire became an extremely strong skill in D2R. At level 6 you get holy fore and can basically run through every area in the game until NM A4 when you start to see fire immune enemies

D2 veteran here and I've got a semi-solution for you. It's called a pacifist run and it is very close to what you're doing, but have a little bit laxer ruleset. So the pacifist run states that you can use any skill/item that does not do damage directly, but has to be triggered by an enemy attack. That gives you more tools to finish the run(spoiler alert - you can beat the whole game with it). The most important thing you need is gear that procs nova on hit. The suffix is called "of Nova Shield" and you can find it on all armour and amulets. You can shop it starting act 2. Since you mentioned mr Llama, I'm pretty sure he made a pacifist run video at some point.
What would be the most hard D2 challenge to do? Im coming from the dark soul series so im looking for hard challenges but im like super new in D2. As in never played it. But i want a challenge. D3 was awfully easy and lame sadly.
@@emanuelperez3595 So Diablo 2 is one of those games, that can be very difficult if you lack game knowledge and experience with it, so I would say, if you've never beat hell difficulty with a melee build do that first, because it's a hard enough thing for a new player to do. That being said, many people consider punch barb(barbarian using no weapons) to be the hardest, but it is soooooo slow and you need so much farming on lower levels to even progress. I can recommend it only for people having abundance of patience for it. My personal favourite is no shopping(including potions and scrolls) challenge. To be fair I've never beat the game with this challenge, I don't even know if it's possible, but you can try for yourself and tell me. Edit - I forgot to mention - the way I play the no shopping challenge is with extra restrictions - no talking to NPCs except when you need to progress, no TPs and no save and exits. Otherwise it's not that bad.
Glad I’m not the only one who permanently has the map up in Diablo haha. It’s just so much more convenient to know exactly where you are. I would love to see more Diablo challenge runs to! Of any Diablo! It’s such a fun series and there’s quite an good depth of things you could do!

Correct! The antidote aura "Cleansing" does not cost mana, and is one of, if not the only, skill to receive its synergy bonus from items that give +Prayer!
In case anyone is wondering, "durance" means "prison", more or less. The sense is "a place that one stays for a long time", with the same root as "durable", "endure", or "duration".
Please more Diablo 2 challenges, this is awesome. My favorite is the “rainbow” challenge where you play through the 3 difficulty with only 1 skill tree per difficulty.
Nice. One thing you should be doing is using the Horadric Cube to convert mana and health potions into regeneration potions. They work instantly and refill both life and health, unlike the slow uptick of the health potions 😉

Would be interesting to see if you can beat Diablo 2 using only equipment skills. Such as armors with novas, weapons/staffs with charges of damaging skills etc. Or do a Necromancer/Druid but damage can only be dealt with mercenaries.

@@MacroBioBoi It absolutely works in LOD, I have done that several times. I don't however have remastered but it IS supposed to be the same exact code just with higher rez.
You have to be level 27 to use Spirit due to the Sol rune's level requirement. Also, the only 4-soc swords or shields you can get in normal come from Act 5 or the Cow Level that requires being the game on normal (thus doing Act 5). This is based off of the items ilvl, I believe, so even using the Act 5 soc quest wouldn't actually force 4 sockets on an item that was retrieved in a lower difficulty because the monster's level wasn't high enough. Also, those all require Act 5, but he got stuck on Act 4.
Actually this looks a lot like the first time I beated diablo 2 back in early 2000s xD I believe you can do also with a necromancer because he had a cruse that does the same thing that thorns
Chance to cast when struck is how you handle ranged units and help kill everything faster Defense is pretty meh. The shade at Mr llama is hilarious. Those potions also massively increase your resistance to that element. Speaking of resistance, wow do you need more of it. Heraldric shields with diamonds are great for that.
It's a thorns only run. The only way to deal with ranged isn't readily available. The stat is ranged attackers take X amount of damage which isn't on a lot of early game gear.

Attacker takes damage of x is a different mechanic that shows up on items. Most of the time when these runs are done, all versions of when struck are allowed. As that was specifically denied in this run, it's DOA before you even spawn in. With when struck, this run can complete hell difficulty. Of course, passive zon with cracked gear can also do that, so no, the game isn't all that hard.
Anyone below 30-35 saying they are old are just fragile little souls… Old is when you become around 50 and most of your joints are starting to have trouble.

So to make this run more potent, use an act 2 heal.merc. Your Torns aura extended to the merc and his heal aura to you, subsequently he has a melee attack that will help against non-melee enemies. -Universal Gamer
Been lurking about a while and I was half-expecting you to also do a hardcore character since I've seen your XCOM playthroughs (I enjoy those ones the most). But I do enjoy a good number of your zany antics during the videos.
I'm just old enough that I was introduced to diablo at the ripe age of 5 and later diablo 2 at the age of 7 (without my parents knowledge). It was definitely the series that hooked me into arpgs. It's funny to see the game is playable up to diablo considering I think my first amateur build was a thorns armor barbarian as far as I can remember.
I think you can take the bosses out of the arena to force diablo to spawn.
Unless it was changed in D2R, that's correct, you can kite them out onto the fire sea, and it should spawn Diablo.
Pretty sure you can still do this. Lure lord out of the area back to the river and Diablo should spawn in. Good luck!

Also for future runs... on second weapon set, keep a staff with teleport charges to avoid getting stuck by ranged enemies or other annoying stuff. 😂

It's not, cause he can't reach Baal. Madawc is an impassable obstacle. Only ranged attacks, no cheese.

I'm just old enough that I was introduced to diablo at the ripe age of 5 and later diablo 2 at the age of 7 (without my parents knowledge). It was definitely the series that hooked me into arpgs. It's funny to see the game is playable up to diablo considering I think my first amateur build was a thorns armor barbarian as far as I can remember.
God I loved this game but totally felt your intro; I only beat it once but played it countless times with wild character builds
