    Thanks for taking the time for making this video. The customer support on the Ring website doesn't show you how to do this because they want you to just keep buying a new doorbell every couple years.

    Thanks for your video on this 1st Gen Ring. That helped me understand how to get to the battery. Now I can take it out & reset to factory & not have any information on my Ring to give to another person. I've upgraded mine to Gen 3 Ring.

    Hi Mark, this is the best tutorial on UA-cam to help people replace the ring doorbell battery, without this I’d have had no idea and would have paid silly money for a new one. Thanks, have a great day and stay safe. 😷 regards from a quickly sinking ship thats called the UK !

    Thanks for the video! My Ring is a Gen 2, which is very similar, but the battery is different (Model: 1ICP6/5056-2 S1, 3.8V 5200mAh 19.76Wh) and the battery connector was glued down, so that took a bit of effort to pry off. Also, the screws on back are torx (star-shaped) screws (T7).

    Thank you so much for the video, it is a unique instruction how to replace the battery on this model of the Doorbell Ring. I suspected a dead battery on mine but it turned out it was just a bad connection of the battery. Just disconnecting and reconnecting the battery fixed the problem. However, my problem was to access the inside of the device since I hesitated to use force to remove the metal cover. After I saw you doing it I was encouraged since I was sure that it will expose the other two hidden screws. Anyway, thanks again and 73 from a fellow ham W5DMA

    Great video. I followed instructions and it worked. Only struggle was the connecting plug. I thought it slid in to snap. It actually pushes on from top. I broke the tiny little side wall while trying to slide but it still worked fine after I realized my mistake.

    • @paintrock
      @paintrock Рік тому

      That was my only hitch as well. Fortunately, I had a magnifying loop, and I was able to see that rather than connecting pins on the body of the Ring, they were blades, and the plug had slots that snapped over them.

    Thanks It works. I brought the new battery from Amazon for my 1st Generation ring doorbell. Which is no longer supported by ring. However the battery won’t stay in place. I discovered my old battery had died because either corrosion or something wet hit the slots while taking it apart to replace it with the new one. After wiping the old one off with alcohol and a q-tip the old one worked again😂. However 😅that won’t snap back in either. So my problem is 😢neither battery will stay put inside the ring camera bec whatever piece to hold it broke I guess?

      Yourname Here if that were the case. One would expect to see motion alarms.... put it out with a full charge this morning and by 6pm it was 1% it’s gotten worse in a short period of time.
      Really dissatisfied you can’t get official replacement batteries for this. EVERYONE knows lipos age within 2 years. I have a number of ring products, 2 of these door bells, chimes, spotlight cams etc... but to simply not offer a replacement battery is disgusting.
      What they just expect me to bin my 2 perfectly good doorbells when the battery gets tired. Shithouse effort ring.

    • @ibsn87
      @ibsn87 4 роки тому +1

      Yourname Here yeah, I understand all that. I was just pointing out that it’s circuit board is not weather protected at all!
      When it’s inside and face down, It’s battery level still plummets. I want to replace the battery but ring neither offers a way to do so, or offers a replacement battery. Im most certainly not incapable of doing so - having repaired thousands of electronics in my life.
      Absolutely disgusting. If there was ever a motion of selling a product with planned redundancy. It’s selling a product with a lipo battery that can’t be replaced - and not offering a spare battery (even though they are still made!!!!! Again. Disgusting. Again. Do I just throw out 2 of these perfectly good door bells - I’m now in the ring eco system - very f’n average. Contacting ring via email is seemingly impossible too.
      Bit like the $40 tile - at least you could send it back to them for a new battery.
